Someone noted here that Powell is already out for the conference, but we will see if that will change in the future if Nicholson cannot carry the dragons.
There are no odds out yet for game 2, but I am guessing that the dragons will be a slight underdog this time. I am sure the odds will shift because of the outcome of game 1 but I do not know how big the swing will be.
Have read in my social media feed that Nicholson won't be playing game 2 (just forgot what site is that) and the Dragons won't be playing without an import so I guess that Powell will take over as the Dragon's import if I'm not mistaken. Though it's good for the Dragons to have Powell back but the downside to it is that they will have a chemistry issue. Looking at the last fight of Loma, I think he is not in his prime anymore. The early 30s to mid-30s are the most common for most boxers to lose their primes. I believe Haney will be the stronger and faster guy and he will win against this version of Loma. As a huge fan of Loma since the start of his pro career, I hate to see him lose. Maybe Haney cannot make the weight and just move up. Cheesy
Nicely said there bro and i definitely agree with you that Loma has lost a step since his prime, maybe to age and that last fight of his was the testament that indeed he is not in his prime anymore. But as a fan of Loma, i give him the benefit of the doubt that his performance last outing might have to do with ring rust as he was out of the ring for almost a year due to war in Ukraine. The thing with Haney is that he is not a knockout artist like Teofimo Lopez and this might give Loma the advantage as i think he will not hesitate to engage because even if he will be hit with a power shot, he can take it and we all know that Loma is also KO artist aside from being a technical one. I think this is already made verbally, as long as Haney won against Kambosos and then Loma against the young Ortiz.
So by principle this is already set up by Top Rank, both fighters are under their umbrella so it make sense that Arum will have to make this fight, fans wanted it, and all in house money for him. Probably we will just have to wait for the official venue and date but I will say that 99% this fight is made already.
And yes, this is going to be a great match games, style makes fight as we say, so it will be another test for Loma's ability to overcome a very technical boxer such as Devin Haney.
Agree, this is a set-up which i think will benefit the boxers and the fans as well. This fight is 99 percent a go because they are under the Top Rank promotions and i could say that Bob Arum is just selecting a date and venue that could maximize the revenue of the proposed fight. Also find this weird because on papers, the Dragons is a talented team with Nicholson leading the charge for them, even though the Kings have beaten the Dragons in the elimination, it is not the gage (at least for me) that this series is in favor of Ginebra. We all knew that a series is very different from a single game in the elimination as in the series they can make some adjustments on the succeeding games. Anyways, i will update this post if ever i have already decided to bet for the Dragons. |

Probably, although he shows intention to move down to 115 lbs, but that idea may have been scrapped already since Inoue is moving up and Donaire can stay at 118 lbs and still win at least one final belt before he will retire for good.
Nonito vs Moloney could be a good one, although we know that Nonito is aging and who knows, maybe past his prime. But I still think that he can win against Moloney.
And hopefully this can be finalized for next year. And for sure, we are all excited to see Nonito once again.

Very exciting game so far, though the Dragons are leading the game but I believe SMB will have another win to even the series. This will be a close game, those who take the spread should be confident that they will cover even if SMB will lose the game, as for me, I took a riskier bet, I have the SMB ML.
SMB Beermen vs Dragons was an exciting series but the other matchup was not. On paper, i thought that Magnolia has a chance to be in the finals by defeating the Kings but it turned out to be a blowout game in games 3 and 4. ^^ I speculate that they could have been a rivalry between the two, Usyk is just one weight class above Beterviev and possible that they could be talks for them to fight. But we all know that Usyk when as high as HW win the belts against AJ and the rest is history.
And I think Usyk though can still drop to CW and then Beterview can go as high as that weight so maybe a superfight is also possible in the future between the two.
I don't think that a fight between Beterbiev and Usyk will happen because of money issue, i mean the big money fights is at the heavyweight division which Usyk is now comfortably fighting and a champion on that division. Beterbiev vs Usyk will only happen if there is someone who will promote/sponsor the fight and sell it as a resemblance of a war between Ukraine and Russia but i don't think that many fight fans would but to that idea. |
