Not a good start for SMB, they are playing a do or die game and yet they allow the Bay Area to dictate the game early. Maybe it's still too early as it's in the 2nd quarter, but the score is already 19-31, or 12 points lead by the Bay Area. Good thing Ross is playing, maybe he can help his team to win.
I thought at least in the first quarter the SMB will do good, I place bet when they're around 17-17 then it jump to 24 and now it's 19-31? I haven't watched PBA in few months or just watching it casually sometimes I thought that the SMB is still the top teams in the PBA. I haven't heard this Bay Arena before, was this a new team? Well, don't you worry because SMB were able to come back in the game and it's now a close game. The first half has already ended, Bay Area only leading by 4 points, it's very manageable, so they need to have a big run in the 3rd quarter so they'll not fall short in the last quarter of the game. This time, Scott has a good production with his precise shooting, 13 points so far from 6-8 Shooting. This series is not over yet, SMB snatch the win tonight, the series is now 2-1 in favor of Bay Area. I just noticed, it seemed like the ref are pretty much on the side of SMB, even the last shot, it should be a foul since there was a push in the back. Anyway, congrats SMB for winning. I also thought that was a foul but the ref did not call it. Also, when 3 men are down the floor before the 3-point shot of Enciso to take the lead, I thought there might be a foul there somewhere, but nothing is called. It is still good though. It is a very exciting game. The beermen gave the Bay Area Dragons a tough defense. Their shooters are contributing and Devon Scott have a bounce back game today. I think it was 28 points contribution coming from the import of San Miguel. They get to live to fight another day. Exciting game indeed and IMO, that was a good "no call" when three bodies were on the floor before Simon Enciso nailed that game-winning three, that's a perfect ending for an intense game and a good beginning for another beeracle in the making hehe. SMB are too dependent to JMF and they can’t maximize their import, their playing strategy should be changed if they really want to survive on this and go to the finals. Magnolia on the other hand manage to tied the series, this is more exciting who will take the lead. Anyway, where’s that local bet? Looks interesting but quiet high for a minimum bet. I think SMB is not dependent on Junemar, its just that he was only the clicking that night both on offense and defense. The Dragons won't be the favorite for nothing, i mean their local has the height advantage over the locals of the Beermen and their import also is a little above the talent level of SMB's import as well, just a team effort for them to win this tough series. It looks like the Dragons are too much for the Beermen.
6 players of Dragons in double digits against only 4 for the Beermen and their import Scott isn't as efficient as he was in the eliminations. It seems like the presence of Nicholson and that 7-footer in the paint really affects their game style and some of the players of the Dragons are fast and tall as well so it will be hard for the guards of Beermen to score. Total domination for the Dragons.
Height really is a factor on why the Beermen struggle against the Dragons plus the fact that six players contributed double digits offensive output only shows that they already have figured out how to maneuver the defense of the Beermen. 2-0 is a deep hole but this is basketball and anything can happen but i'm expecting for the worst that the Dragons will swept the Beermen. 2-0 in favor of the Dragons and tied at 1 on the other match-up. Next game will be on Sunday. Will the Beermen get eliminated on Sunday or they will extend the series. I'll go with Ginebra on Game 3, and I might put a bet on them depending on the odds.

It is clear for anyone that watched the fight that Butler went up there with the clear intention of not losing the fight during the very first rounds, but while doing so he abandoned any chance of victory against Inoue, to me this is controversial, because while some may be impressed by Butler and his ability to last that long against someone like Inoue, I would say that I am disappointed about his attitude, as he took a path he knew he will have no chance to win, to me it would have been better for him to actually go for the victory, most likely he would still lose, but at least his chances of victory would not have been zero.
We can't blame Butler if he fights that way, Inoue isn't called the Monster for nothing. If he stands toe to toe with Inoue, he wouldn't last three rounds and he will suffer the same fate as Donaire. He was fighting scared that's why it lasted for 11 rounds which for me a victory for himself because even the bookies predicted that the fight will be over in under three rounds, that's why I grabbed the opportunity when I saw that odds. With Top Rank grooming their newfound cash cow, for sure he will become a multi-division champion and I hope that he will meet Casimero while they are still at the peak of their careers. |

I think the execution and breaks of the game in the dying seconds just favored the Dragons but nevertheless, it was an exciting game and for sure SMB Beermen will bounce back from that lose. We can see in the first game that the Dragons struggled and they are very beatable so expect the odds to be more even in game 2. End of the first of the second game, a very close game so far with a score of 45-44 in favor of the Kings. Yes, both imports are playing well and their defense was very impressive. However, since this is in the 2nd half, I think Ginebra will be favored to win, but the 3rd quarter is a very important quarter, so let's see if my prediction is correct. And that's it, Inoue is the first Japanese boxer to be crowned the unified champion of the bantamweight division via knocking out Paul Butler in the eleventh round. Man, what a punishment there that Butler has absorbed. To those who expected an early knockout, you may be disappointed but kudos to Paul Butler who have withstood the onslaught from the very first round of the fight. As I've said above Inoue might be having a hard knocking out Butler as the latter will be fighting scared, he will be inside the ring just to survive.  My bet ^^ is not settled yet but this is a win. |
