Weird

Greed, Fear, and Narcissism can cause some pretty weird actions. Fear is kicking in now.  Shocked

I’m Sorry

I believed that I could do this. I believed that I could put the years of anonymity and hiding behind me. But, as the events of this week unfolded and I prepared to publish the proof of access to the earliest keys, I broke. I do not have the courage. I cannot.

When the rumors began, my qualifications and character were attacked. When those allegations were proven false, new allegations have already begun. I know now that I am not strong enough for this.

I know that this weakness will cause great damage to those that have supported me, and particularly to Jon Matonis and Gavin Andresen. I can only hope that their honour and credibility is not irreparably tainted by my actions. They were not deceived, but I know that the world will never believe that now. I can only say I’m sorry.

And goodbye.

And goodbye to you, Sir!  Gavin still has some explaining to do in my mind.

The smell of righteousness sprinkled with a dabble of arrogance sure makes the OP sound like a guy people should copy.
You imagine walking through a public hall meeting ignoring 95% of the people there and expecting people to take you seriously when you addressed them! Love these kinds of people with their holier than though value system.
Don't forget that those 95% are there only because they are paid to say things to you. They aren't there to listen to you, so why would you take the time to listen to them? Do you also read spam email or take the time to listen to telemarketers?
I realize that people who post for money might actually have something useful to say from time to time, but they have to realize that those useful posts are drowned out by the drivel. If they want people to take them seriously they could drop the signature campaign.

I was never paid yet I am on your lame ass ignore list. So, your list is flawed... and you, as well as DannyHamilton, are asses for not verifying.   Kiss

I have no doubt that my list is not perfect. Oh well. Your signature looks like a something from signature campaign. If it's not then it is my mistake for not being able to tell the difference. If you think I am an ass you can put me on your ignore list.

Roll Eyes  I think it should be noted that even when a flaw is pointed out in your list, your still not willing to verify and correct it. Not a great way to maintain a public ignore list.

A colorful signature showing support for something does not automatically qualify as a paid signature campaign. If it does, your missing a LOT of people from your list.

Regardless, you certainly will not make it on my ignore list but I still think your an ass for not verifying.  Grin

bitc01n.net
b1tc01n.co
b1tc01n.org

...

These look like typical phishing addresses... very suspicious!

Could also be for vhost masking on IRC  Shocked    .... still do not believe this guy is anywhere near who Satoshi is or was.

So we should all believe that Satoshi would be boasting ideas about how the future of Bitcoin allows the "counsel" to track the fact that you dropped your can in a harbor and littered so they can shame you???  Yep... sounds like Satoshi.

1187  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Craig Wright to move coins from an early (genesis?!) block? on: May 03, 2016, 04:41:27 PM
However, if he is indeed Satoshi he can move coins associated with the genesis block. The question is: What if Wright provide a solid proof that he is Nakamoto? I see it as a problem...

Then why lie and copy and paste Satoshi's signature pretending that he created it from the hash of a Sartre document?

For someone trying to prove they are Satoshi it would have been very simple just to provide a signed message rather than all the nonsense and plain lies that this guy has been publishing.

In addition, Satoshi himself is going to know how to prove who he is. He is going to know that nobody is going to accept the first set of proof Wright provided.

I haven't heard this Wright guy mention a genesis block at all, just an "early block"... and I can almost feel some type of long, drawn out BS explanation of why its impossible for him to do anything with the genesis block or maybe some made up story about a hack a long time ago that happened on his personal Windows PC... Satoshi would also never pose for a picture like this jackass does on his blog site. His grin reminds me of a British version of the dos equis guy.

"I don't always provide real proof, but when I do, its BS. Stay thirsty my friends."
1188  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BREAKING NEWS: SATOSHI FINALLY REVEALED! on: May 03, 2016, 04:15:38 PM

Yup - considering that his first example of "extraordinary proof" was to simply copy and paste a signature from Satoshi (which anyone could do as that signature is in the blockchain) and then lie that he created that signature himself using the private key (as well as lying that the hash being signed was that of a Sartre document rather than simply the hash of the tx content of Satoshi's tx).

Ontop of all that, why the hell do we have to sit here for the next several days while they trickle out this "proof"

For some there is no burden of proof high enough, no evidence that cannot be dismissed as fabrication or manipulation. This is the nature of belief and swimming against this current would be futile.

You should be sceptical. You should question. I would.

I will present what I believe to be “extraordinary proof” and ask only that it be independently validated.

if it were extraordinary proof, it wouldn't be in quotes  Cheesy   AND it would be released already!

This is such BS... they've got more evidence they've been holding onto to try and discredit people but I'm pretty sure your never going to get a signed genesis block.

There is more coming in this story... I can just feel it!   Shocked

Out of curiosity, does anyone here know the relationship between Satoshi & theymos towards the end of Satoshi's time here?  From what I've seen, it seemed like a good relationship?... I get the feeling Satoshi wasn't happy with Gavin with relation to the government talks but I haven't seen any ill feelings towards theymos.

1192  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why would anyone claim to be Satoshi? on: May 02, 2016, 04:27:27 PM
The real satoshi, if fully confirmed, has the power of persuasion... and a lot of bitcoins.

How do I remove my email from being visible? I can't seem to find the option...
This option is not available at the time. It will be added later.

@ lauda can you please help me i can not reset the password.
What exactly is the problem? I'll notify a developer.

Is the hiding of email still not available?   Also, my email on BTCtalk isn't exactly real... so is it still the same process of changing the email here, waiting 2 days, then trying to setup the account on beta*?

First thought... I'm hoping there will be more themes or different visual ways to display these threads.  Smiley
I can't comment further without getting my account setup  Grin

How fing hard would it be for him to logon and post I AM SATOSHI from his SATOSHI account on the site that SATOSHI started when SATOSHI started Bitcoin?
As has been stated, the account was locked by theymos after a hack a long time ago.

EDIT: It would be interesting if theymos was able to contact this Wright guy and see if he can verify any part of the password to the Satoshi account... assuming theymos is able to see what the password was on the account?

I don't know if it's just me but Craig reminds me a lot of Charlie Sheen  Grin

You are right, he does. Something doesn't add up.

This is what I always thought Satoshi looked like :-

Charlie Sheen, or the criminal mastermind from Office Space Peter Gibbons!!!
He's too relatable and people will flock to him blindly!    Angry

1196  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshis vs. Wrights personality on: May 02, 2016, 03:07:06 PM
Yes, I loved this picture on the website... and thought the same thing - Satoshi would put this picture up on a website of himself? or even allow it to be done by someone else??  No.
1197  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BREAKING NEWS: SATOSHI FINALLY REVEALED! on: May 02, 2016, 02:53:16 PM
Sweet now all these conspiracy theory retards can bite it.  Hopefully this gets verified and gets mainstream acceptance.

And here come the sig spammers!
1198  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BREAKING NEWS: SATOSHI FINALLY REVEALED! on: May 02, 2016, 02:42:07 PM
Alarming indeed.

My initial feelings here are that Gavin needs a key supporter to move people from core, even if temporary and proven to be false down the road... his prior attempts have not worked. How do you round up all of the old original community members and get them to follow you?... Bring back Satoshi and have him support your plans. I think its an attempt to harness the 'reaction' and pull one over on the bitcoin community to get them to move, I would expect Wright to soon reveal what he's been "working on" with his staff of people that don't want to be bothered and I think it will fall in line with projects that Gavin is pursuing... XT, Classic, "Unlimited"    *I'm taking off my tinfoil hat now*

But Gavin is smart enough to realise the current level of 'proof' wouldn't last an hour under scrutiny. Why would he stake his reputation on something so flimsy? Is a 12 hour window enough time time to convince core devs to do this? Wouldn't core devs check the 'proof' for themselves?

A good theory but it doesn't seem like it would be sufficient time to do what you're suggesting.

Greed clouds judgement... but I don't think he really needs the core developers, he's got a team of developers that will be paid for by Mr. Wright. He needs the community to move towards a new blockchain or fork to actually become the new "Satoshi" himself.

Well something is up, even if Craig was Satoshi and Gavin was becoming buddy buddy with him there would be no reason to announce something that has been kept hidden, except for influence. I am still leaning my bets on this being a hack by a monster of a troll.

I'm not buying the hack story... he was either authentically fooled by the dingo or he's in cahoots. If he were hacked, his posts or the entire site itself would be taken down by now, right now he wants people to see his words on that blog post.

Thanks BBC!
1199  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BREAKING NEWS: SATOSHI FINALLY REVEALED! on: May 02, 2016, 01:36:32 PM
just skimmed through the thread and couldn't find any proof (or an explanation of what it is.). the article are also lacking citations/sources for the important parts. so, bottom line, the media are just being stupid again, am I right?

Pretty much. Nothing was shown/proved in the BBC article. I'm sure a laymen could easily be fooled but what is more concerning is Gavin Andresen seemingly buying this bullshit. Very alarming.

What really Craig wants

Imagine how much hes gonna win on sign campaign  Wink

Lol. I'm sure that account could be sold for a fair bit.

Satoshi or not.... he seems like a bit of a cunt doesn't he?

Yep. I really don't think the real satoshi would behave like this, though it's a good reason why he should likely remain anon. You could be the nicest/smartest guy in the world but people would still hate you for it.

OK I'm confused... the video acts as if he has signed a message but I'm not seeing proof of this?  where is this signed message??

Also, why do I feel like Gavin has something to do with this announcement?
