861  Other / Meta / Re: Hacked account recovery on: December 06, 2017, 05:40:50 PM
I did lock it and then checked the instructions for recovery (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=497545.0). They require signing a bitcoin address or a PGP key that was previously mentioned and therefore is known to belong to the account holder.
The problem is I haven't publicly disclosed either so according to these instructions I can't recover my account.
I find this hard to believe.

Can you sign a message from this address?

862  Other / Meta / Re: Account farming ?!? on: December 06, 2017, 04:38:22 PM
I've run into a thread that had only newbies posting and when out of curiosity I checked their profiles they are all posting in the same threads in the same order.

Since multiple accounts are allowed, is account farming banned?
Should I start reporting them?

I'll post the links with the usernames after I get a response.

I would report them first and then post their usernames for others to be aware.
Multiple accounts may be tolerated but the content of their posts are likely crap and if they are burst posting or posting useless content, constantly, it is spamming.
863  Economy / Reputation / Re: USER ANDUCK Bidding on own auction.. on: December 06, 2017, 04:35:41 PM
My questions for Anduck would be:
Do you believe the behavior that was exhibited on this auction was ok to do, even if done today?
Do you believe it is ok for an auctioneer to shill bid with an unknown alt account on their own auction?

Based on Anduck's feedback left to TMAN, it implies he is ok with a hidden non-disclosed reserve without stating there is a reserve at all... which just doesn't make sense to me. You either have a reserve or you do not. Disclosing the amount may be debatable, but if you do not specify there is a reserve, it is an absolute auction, and should go to the highest bidder. It seems asinine to think you, yourself, can be the highest bidder in this type of auction.
864  Other / Meta / Re: What are we going to do about the Shitposters? on: December 06, 2017, 02:43:48 PM
i think maybe we should ask them first why they shoplift and then if the reasons are for family but they actually did it for some reasons or they do it just for fun and then were gonna punnish them.

Thanks for the great example of a shitpost.

I have no issues. Since it's such a waste, take your (tree) leave of us. Roll Eyes

Not intending to call you an idiot, but I had to post this.  Wink

OP, are you using Tor?
866  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk TOS? on: December 05, 2017, 04:42:47 PM
My thought is that this may be intentional to not create any agreements with users or have a clear set of terms that would have to be followed or could be manipulated to use against the forum or its staff/mods/etc.
A safe guess may be that theymos does not want to create any type of ToS agreement with users for the same (or similar) reasons why there is not an "official" set of rules... it has to be the unofficial (official) set of rules.  Smiley

No "official" set of rules was ever published, because if rules are set in stone, then people will come up with clever ways to bypass them, and then complain when a moderator takes action. This is however a very good thread to read to find out in general what you can and can't do. I do believe it should be stickied, but kept as "unofficial"
867  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: SCAM OR GOLDEN OPPURTUNITY on: December 05, 2017, 03:50:39 PM
I am a novice in the market when it comes making investment decisions regarding coins. What are the guidelines that one should practice when it comes to making a investment in Crypto currency & how do we differentiate whether the offer be presented to us is a SCAM or a Golden opportunity ?

My Guidelines:
1. Know that most altcoins and ICOs are going to turn out to be scams or will be buried.
2. Do not trust anyone or any coin without a good reason.
Note: Fancy images/videos, unproven "amounts raised", accounts with just legendary/hero status, and numerous posters saying "this is the next best thing" do not count as a good reason.
3. Look into the Bitcoin cryptocurrency... this one may be more important than the other guidelines.  Wink
868  Other / Meta / Re: access to account lost on: December 05, 2017, 02:04:56 PM
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=364620 i lost access to my account because i typed three times the wrong password time ago.
i sent email to theymos as it says but none responded

All you can do is read & follow these instructions, which I assume you haven't done (or haven't done recently) because it states to send a signed message to Cyrus first.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=497545.0

If you cannot sign a message, you're probably not going to be recovering the account.

Small update

Update:
I completely missed these two in one of the PMs from Jengo, they did not send messages directly, but were examples given in the PM and they follow the same patterns of posting:

870  Economy / Reputation / Re: stealing my signature design on: December 04, 2017, 06:53:47 PM
I left feedback for this account yesterday, relating to another thread (being an alt of Jengo).
I've added additional feedback for this account for the design stealing.
871  Other / Meta / Re: Moving to Cloudflare on: December 04, 2017, 06:16:27 PM
I've been getting several 504 (gateway time-out) errors from Cloudflare today, seems to come and go.
872  Economy / Reputation / Re: [CENTRA] Trust abuser offers to buy positive feedback to ICO token dev profile on: December 04, 2017, 04:33:51 PM
Nice escrow service to build up your trust just like ibtminers.
I've never run an escrow service nor "built up" trust. If my goal has been to build my trust score, I'm doing a horrible job at it.

You did it and will expose you for the retard scum you are.
Yeah you sold a coin on here good thing you forgot who you sold it too.
They have your info and already have given it out for nothing.

If you have proof of wrongdoing by yogg, you are welcome to PM me or post it under Reputation.
873  Economy / Reputation / Re: [CENTRA] Trust abuser offers to buy positive feedback to ICO token dev profile on: December 04, 2017, 09:47:30 AM
EtihadBitcoin is certainly attempting to abuse the trust system. I've left feedback. Centra's owner/main account is likely involved but I feel like I need more proof to leave feedback there.. I will be looking though.  Wink

876  Economy / Reputation / Re: Calling all reputed members esp. Lauda, ibminer, The Pharmacist to my apology on: December 02, 2017, 05:26:41 AM
How far did you checked my history? According to The Pharmacist's feedback, i would've scammed many members, i would've atleast any signs in my history of trying to scam anyone. Let your ANN-Bumping case be aside for a minite, and tell me Have you found a single sign verifying me a historical scammer?

I went far enough into the current owner's history. As Vod mentioned, morality, you are not trustworthy because of your immoral actions, and actions have consequences. There are/were ways for you to redeem yourself, but you won't/wouldn't have, because you are here to blindly support any ICO or bounty that is willing to pay you, and in this case, even highlighting that you could mislead lower ranked members due to your [bought] status.

So since the pleading doesn't appear to be working, logically your next step is going to be...

Because, by not forgiving for a mistake, you pity members force a person to buy accounts and keep continue doing scam here.

You've had the account since maybe June of this year, you act like you've been building it up since 2014.  Roll Eyes

877  Economy / Reputation / Re: Calling all reputed members esp. Lauda, ibminer, The Pharmacist to my apology on: December 01, 2017, 03:50:29 PM
i asked ibminer about it, he replied that he noticed already given feedback on my profile and thus he picked me up only among all others.

My reply was that you were intentionally using a legendary status account to confuse others. Even if the account was not bought or had not changed hands, which it certainly did, I would have left feedback. And I've left feedback for several others in this group.

I didn't put much merit into The Pharmacist's feedback. No offense to The Pharmacist or others, while I certainly do read others feedback, I do not automatically accept the feedback of most, trusted or not. I saw it, reviewed your history, and derived my own opinion.

It seems clear to me that you have been doing this on a regular basis and that you willingly manipulate the Legendary rank to influence lower ranked members to invest in whoever is paying you.

You're essentially a willing shill for swindlers. Not someone anyone should trust.

As you stated in your own words, without even knowing anything about the ICO:
"I am good to do such jobs you can see i am already doing this with many different ICO threads."
"You can see my rank is high , members usually follow up high ranked member's suggestions."

As for you being the only one I've left feedback for, one quick look at my trust history will show this is a lie, and I really haven't even fully finished reviewing everyone in that thread.

But you don't really know how the forum works, don't understand the trust system, and obviously do not know how to review trust history ... because you are not really a legendary member.  Undecided
878  Other / Meta / Re: Moving to Cloudflare on: November 30, 2017, 07:14:45 PM
So it's not blatantly insecure except in that Cloudflare is very probably an NSA honeypot, and it's not like the NSA is going to steal your password in order to scam people on bitcointalk.org or anything.

If a secret service agent is willing to break the law to get bitcoins, why wouldn't an NSA agent?  And why is it they can only read... couldn't traffic be altered?

The recent data leak is also not comforting: https://techcrunch.com/2017/02/23/major-cloudflare-bug-leaked-sensitive-data-from-customers-websites/

The current Cloudflare solution appears to be blocking bots.

I run two bots that crawl the site periodically, the one for bctalkaccountpricer.info and another one for ACE. Both of these have been blocked from accessing the forum.

Not sure if this is related or not?

--snip--
Tor users and benevolent-bot operators: please wait a couple of days for the current DDoS to subside, and then post your complaints here. I am able and willing to tune Cloudflare to be minimally annoying. Not every Cloudflare site has to do that "Using Tor? Here's an impossible captcha" thing.
879  Economy / Reputation / Re: AT101ET - Explanation & Apology on: November 30, 2017, 05:41:06 PM
Is it your claim that you only offered to be a shill bumper this one time, in a heated moment of greed?  Or have you been engaged in the paid bumping of announcement threads for an extended period of time?
880  Other / Meta / Re: Moving to Cloudflare on: November 30, 2017, 02:14:59 PM
With regret, I am (for now) admitting defeat on the DDoS front, and we will soon be using using Cloudflare to protect against DDoS attacks. This change is in progress, and will take ~24 hours for everyone to see.

I really don't believe in willingly putting a man-in-the-middle in your HTTPS like this, but my homebrew DDoS mitigation has been one of my biggest time sinks for the last 6 months or so, and the necessary servers are still pretty expensive. If I had more manpower, then I would prioritize maintaining our own DDoS protection, but with me as the only sysadmin and current-software developer, it's become unsustainable.

I especially dislike Cloudflare, which I'm almost certain is basically owned by US intelligence agencies. I considered several alternatives to Cloudflare, but the smaller ones (eg. Stackpath and OVH) didn't strike me as reputable/competent enough, and the enterprise-targeted ones like Incapsula and Akamai are around $3500/month. Even though $3500/month seems absolutely ridiculous to me, I was seriously considering Incapsula due to its pretty good reputation, but then they were having all sorts of technical issues while I was trying to set it up. So I gave up for now and went with Cloudflare.

The Internet is seriously flawed if everyone needs to huddle behind these huge centralized anti-DDoS companies in order to survive...

The security implications are that Cloudflare can read everything you send to or receive from the server, including your cleartext password and any PMs you send or look at. They can't access the database arbitrarily, though: they can only see data that passes over the Internet.

Interesting.... nothing bad could happen here....  Huh  Are the DDoS's using the search feature?  What else could be disabled to mitigate?  I can only imagine the types of attacks the site gets but the decision seems quick and a bit extreme, haven't there been worse attacks?  I honestly don't have anything to hide from the NSA but I do value my privacy. And the general thought of the NSA collecting usernames/passwords on bitcointalk users is going to give me nightmares.  Sad
