121  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Setup & Troubleshoot] Bitmain AntMiner S1 180GH/S miner on: January 05, 2014, 03:45:31 AM

Also ordered 2 extra fans for my 2 antminers, same exact fan as the original one
overall it's a very good machine

Yes I think it's a pretty good machine too.

If you do not mind, do you have a link for where you ordered those fans from? I'd like to get a fan for the other end of mine, to get a push pull config.

Are our fans 120mm by 25 mm thick?

Thank you in advance.

122  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [100 available] Transparent group buy 400 GH/s for 5k each on: January 04, 2014, 02:40:43 PM
How much power do these use?

If they use more than 600 W, which they probably when you put in liquid coolers, the profit margin is pretty slim.

At 5k each minimum cost, starting at 2.7 billion difficulty at end of Jan/beginning of February, these will never make ROI.

As for the E-bay thing, I can assure you there are people on E-bay who do their homework regarding ROI. Not everything on E-bay goes exactly as planned, and then there's Paypal fees, E-bay fees, which will easily eat 15% of your profits.

If these are using Avalon chips, these guys totally screwed the entire community, and everybody knows it. You might get some sales here, but I would not hold your breath.

123  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: PRE-SHIP AGAIN! SOLD OUT [GROUP BUY 5] 3.15 BTC Bitmain Antminer 180GH 300 Units on: January 03, 2014, 06:29:36 AM
GODDAM IT.

This is the THIRD time UPS has shafted me (every antminer ive ordered). Just like the last 2 times, I was home all day for the package and left a note in the lobby with a buzzer code and instructions to come to the 4th floor.

Just like before, its past 7pm (its actually 9:45PM today) before the tracking status changes from 'on truck for delivery' to 'first attempt made'. Its too late to schedule a will-call with UPS.

What can I do about this? Its obviously not Bitmain's fault, but im seriously pissed off that once again the UPS delivery truck decided to skip me and mark me as 'attempt made' when no such thing took place. UPS call center of course gives less than half of a f**k.

Wow, that sucks. I had that happen with another package. Lost a day and a half of hashing that way. The Postal service said that was not my regular driver, blah blah blah, we don't give a rat's butt. Talk to the postmaster, blah blah blah.

But, get this, I was home, and the driver did not even bother to ring the doorbell. He just slid the Antminer package about 3 feet on the snow on my porch, and it came to a halt about 3 inches before hitting the wall.

I can still see the track it left in the snow.

Some of these deliver guys just seriously do not care. Not that I really blame them, but it would suck to have something shipped from China then have to ship it back because some troglodyte UPS person treated it like crap.

Ok ! Thanks for all the help ! It worked.

Ok, I think I even know what I did...

I downloaded the Advanced IP scanner, turned off the wife's computer. Then I ran the network scan with the IP scanner. It had somehow set itself to 192.168.1.99, after I had held down the little black reset button for 3 seconds.

Weird I know.

I realized it had started mining for the default pool in the settings, because the power backup alarm on my APC had gone off, as it was pulling (combined with the computers), more than it was rated for.

LOL.

So, I turned off the graphics cards which were sucking 200 wats for LTC mining, set the pool again, and it's happily mining.

If you can't log into it anymore, it's because of some IP conflict with your other computers/printers/whatever on the network, so it helps to try the IP scanner.

Hope my bumbling attempts help somebody...lol. Much appreciated to those who put up with my nOOb questions.

Happy New Year !

Thank you very much Klondike_bar.

I just got it to work.

Much appreciated.

126  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Setup & Troubleshoot] Bitmain AntMiner S1 180GH/S miner on: January 03, 2014, 12:55:43 AM
Thanks for trying to help.

I can't even log into it anymore.

I logged into the address on top of the fan, and changed it to 192.168.1.4

Unfortunately, I didn't realized that was my wife's computer....

So, is there any way to reset this thing to the default address? I see this little black button on the network card...

Thanks.
127  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain AntMiner S1 Setup on: January 02, 2014, 09:05:39 PM
Thanks dogie,

I've connected everything and I checked the log of the Antminer. I can see it on my network at 192.168.1.4 (yes I did change it's IP address), it's plugged into the router

I tried to enter my pool address,  stratum+tcp://stratum.mining.eligius.st:3334    ...and hit save and apply, but it just sits there and does not do anything...little spinner thing going.

Also, I get the following error:

I have no idea how to start cgminer on this thing. Is it automatic?? I went into the software and tried to start up cgminer, but nothing happens..

Any ideas would be appreciated.
128  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: BITMAIN Antminer support and OverClocking thread on: January 02, 2014, 08:21:54 PM
So how do I actually set up the pool in miner configuration for the 180gh AntMiner?

I don't really have any numbers to enter in there, I normally do stratum+tcp://stratum.mining.eligius.st:3334 (I don't think wzkid likes to give out actual ip numbers)

Then my address for my worker, and x for password.

But, it does not seem to be taking it. The little spinner just sits there and spins, says applying changes to  /etc/config/cgminer     and nothing happens.

I also have a red "unsaved changes = 1" at the to right, no idea what this means....   dhcp.cfg06f37d=domain

129  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Setup & Troubleshoot] Bitmain AntMiner S1 180GH/S miner on: January 02, 2014, 08:00:15 PM
So how do you actually start this thing mining?

I logged into it, it's set for 192.168.1.4

I'm trying to apply my eligius pool at Pool 1  stratum+tcp://stratum.mining.eligius.st:3334

then I entered my address,

Then my password (no password required for eligius) so I just put in x.

Seems to just sit there and says applying changes to /etc/config/cgminer

But it never finishes...

HOw do you actually start it mining once it's configured?? Maybe I'm a total noob...

hi everyone..

i got my first one delivered...
just to double check with you...  did you get the pci-e extender cable?

it's missing in mine Sad

Mine didn't, but mine has a 6pin PCI-e connector on each board. You sure yours hasn't got those too ?

Mine does also, going to see how this turns out...just got it literally 5 mins ago.

131  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: public record, case 13LA09619 won against BFL on: January 01, 2014, 02:08:21 PM
That's awesome.

I wonder if this has anything to do with BFL dropping the price on a 50 Gh/s Single to $984 until January 5, or selling a 300 Gh/s Monarch pre-order for $1200 (down from $2800).

It usually does not look good to sell brand new products for more than half off. Seems like a desperate ploy for $$$ to me.

Cash flow problems perhaps?

I have not received any e-mail regarding shipping or tracking, yet.

Hopefully, the Christmas stuff ships before the so called New Years batch...

133  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Residential Limit 15amp or 20amp? on: December 31, 2013, 02:34:19 PM
Wiring heats up, and copper's conductivity actually DECREASES as temperature is increased, leading to more heating up, feedback loop = fire.

So, like other people on this thread have said, do not run more than 80% of rated power draw continuously.

If the circuit was built right, everything up to spec, it should be able to handle it, but, we all know that residential houses are all built by the lowest bidder, with the cheapest components available.

So, running more than 1100 W on a 15 A 120 V circuit, you're asking for trouble.

I now I ran into that problem also, which is why I sold off some mining gear. I simply did not have enough power to run it safely, and the extension cords from other circuits in the house were getting really annoying.

134  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Should I return my mining hardware? on: December 31, 2013, 02:24:42 PM

7950's are were running at a premium on E-bay a couple of weeks ago.

No reason to hold on to them. You can pretty much get most of your money back, MINUS E-bay and paypal fees.

The I3's, probably get most of it back.
135  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: CampBX Support MIA - Are they stealing customer funds? on: December 30, 2013, 08:27:14 PM
They finally responded to me by e-mail yesterday, saying my money was refunded.

Well, I had checked my account 2 weeks ago, and noticed that, and promptly transferred my BTC out of there. Suffered a minor loss and learned my lesson.

Lessons about CampBX:

1) Their support people do not check with the money transfer people.
2) Their money transfer people do not know how to enter basic numbers into a computer.
3) Their transferring system cannot understand common routing numbers and bank numbers, which any idiot can look up online.
4) They are completely clueless about timely customer support.

Conclusion: Do not use CampBX or it will take you a month and a half to NOT resolve issues to your satisfaction. I first tried to transfer on 11/18, it is now 12/30.

CampBX is pathetic.

Pics of it hashing, or it hasn't happened yet.

So far, scrypt ASICs seem more of a work in progress at best.

I'll stick to my 7950's for a while yet.
