121  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Trusted-Cryptos Coin Thread [CryptoBank Development] on: August 25, 2015, 03:23:58 PM
Hi there,
Look I may be a bit confused here, but from what I can see I don't understand that what you are doing is any benefit for the coins you are taking care of. I have only been bothered with supercoin but there doesn't seem to be anything that you are doing that will benifit it or create any more demand for it.
I may be wrong and please correct me if I am and explain what it is that you are doing that is actually good for supercoin. Not trying to be funny. Just want to know.
122  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [SKY] Skycoin Launch Announcement on: August 23, 2015, 02:00:07 AM
Hello Skycoin,

I need help with regard to how the wallet is working.
I am still unable to get any coins you have sent to show in wallet.

I am having problems with the way it is working.
I have to take my old wallet files out of the wallet folder for skycoin to run properly, and then when it runs it creates a new wallet in the folder.
If I place my older created wallets back into the wallet folder, skycoin wont start up.
So I am stuck with not being able to receive the coins you have sent me with the older wallet files. This problem has lasted for months.
Do you know about and understand this problem? Will it be fixed and will I eventually be able to receive my coins?
Will skycoin eventually be able to run with the older created wallet files?
Will you have to send the coins again with newly created wallet address, and if so what happens to the old address and coins, and it may be possible that the problem repeats itself anyway?

Please can you let me know what is the problem here and what is to be done to fix it? I am using windows.

Thank you.

Is the development of Supercoin still going on?

let me find the post where i explained that.. one sec

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
for individual coin development, we dont particularly plan on developing the coins and coin specific features too much anymore for any of the three coins. the anon race is over. darkcoin (now dash) won. the contest for "look our coins transaction times are faster" is over as well. the altcoin market is flooded with 99% of them having no real use. pump and dumps have become more common than actual coins.
instead we are going to be looking to making an application for coins as a platform. once i finish my end of the semester projects i will start working on the putting more than one coin into one wallet. then breaking that wallet away from a wallet and more into a general crypto application. the coin developement stage of crypto is pretty much over. any exchange or coin team still pushing on that is clearly and strong one and is going to make it to the end (except paycoin. thats a scam and a half) the stage of the game we are entering into now is crypto applications for the public and getting the use of crypto out there. thats the kind of game we are playing now. the new system and stuff will actually use a lot of tech from supercoin but not necessarily for the anon that it is being used for atm.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

i posted this slightly over a month ago. and its within a day or two of completion (once i get my computer back online)

so no. individual coin development is not longer existing. we work on crypto applications for the coins.

hm, so according to you dash has the best anon tech?

By his statement he has indirectly said - don't bother with supercoin go out and use dash. This is exactly what you don't want a developer to be stating about their own coin, that is why I started selling off this coin.
Supercoin is a great Annon coin but what is the point when you have the coins developer comming out with statements like this.
I also disagree with saying the development stage of crypto is over.
However I agree with the rest of what he said, especially the bit about getting cryptos out there and being used. Currency is used as a means of exchange if this can be established it creates much more demand for the crypto currency.

It is indeed a rare sight to see the dev's asking people to sell the coin instead off to buy to stabilize the price.
When the price is high enough in peoples mind that they are happy to sell a few I'm sure the market will stabilize itself at least for a little while, just market forces.
Maybe your foundation plan about what this coin is all about may work better than you thought and Diamond coin will indeed become quite rare and valuable to own.

They should not be allowed to use the Global name.
Bittrex should be contacted to stop them using the Global name in any way, unless it is for this particular coin.
It doesn't matter that it has "(Globe)" next to it the actual term Global should not be allowed to be used.
If they are allowed to use this name then anyone can start a new coin and name it Bitcoin.

I strongly suggest that this is corrected quickly.

After all this time I am still unable to get the wallet working on windows where I can get my coins into the wallet with the address the coins were sent.
Is this ever going to be fixed.
It is impossible to open a simple wallet at the moment.
127  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [SKY] Skycoin Launch Announcement on: May 10, 2015, 10:40:09 AM
I have been able to download them but they all do not start up. They open up for a second then close down. I have windows. Is anyone else having this problem?

Works for me on Windows 7 64bit English language. Check event viewer if you have any clues there. Also try launching it from command line (i.e. not double-clicking the .exe), perhaps there will be an error message or something.

Thanks for advise,
I have done what you have sugested and have found it was saying that wallet is invalid and filename not set, so I took the wallet files out then it started ok and created a new wallet file but doesnt create a blockchain still, which is double useless because I need it to accept the original wallet file because thats where my coins will show up. And it also needs to do the blockchain, So all around nothing works.

skycoin can you just make the thing work first, love all the coding considerations but please, please make it work so I can have my coins in my wallet.

"we see your concerns. they are all legitimate. for individual coin development, we dont particularly plan on developing the coins and coin specific features too much anymore for any of the three coins. the anon race is over. darkcoin (now dash) won. the contest for "look our coins transaction times are faster" is over as well. the altcoin market is flooded with 99% of them having no real use. pump and dumps have become more common than actual coins."

After you stated this I believed that you didn't believe in what you are doing anymore with respect to supercoin. Whether technical reasons or whatever reasons, if you believe the race is lost then what should everyone else believe?
If you don't believe that the technical attributes of your own coin being supercoin is better than another coin and therefore the value of it, then why should I or anyone else that holds this coin believe it. I always considered supercoin to be quite a unique way of anonymous transactions.

So I decided to sell nearly 50% of what I held.

I agree with alot of what you continue to say with crypto applications for the public and getting the use of crypto out there.

The demand for this coin was dropping and there was no reason for people to buy into it and untill I see there is I will hold off.

I don't really care that it's not on bitrex anymore. I see it as better  because the volume is so small for this coin its best to be on only one exchange.

Volume comes with demand, its pointless trying to create it artificially as is what was suggested, which is another reason I decided to sell.
Give people real reasons for purchasing it and they probably will.

I don't blame anyone for the continued drop in price, not the community or the developers, and am always grateful for work that developers do. And its up to the developers to do as they see best.
I am only commenting on my own considerations.
I buy and sell as I see fit.

Hello skycoin,

Its great that the coin is basically done, but it is impossible for me to get any of the links you have recently given out for the client to work.
I have been able to download them but they all do not start up. They open up for a second then close down. I have windows. Is anyone else having this problem?

I am getting really sick and tired of it not working, and it has gone on for so long it is ridiculously frustrating. Is this ever going to work?
I wanted to get the coins that have been sent into my wallet so I can pay what I owe and then purchase a few more.

Can you please make this thing work or what is the point. I can't see how it can be basically done when I cant get the thing to work.
Please give out a working link that will work with windows.

Hi skycoin,

Just wondering if it will be long before I will be able to use a workable client for windows as I am still unable to get the coins that you have sent me into my wallet.
I am hanging out for a link for a client that will work.

Thanks
131  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ECCoin/ MultiWalletCoin/ Supercoin] Trusted-Cryptos Coin Thread on: May 02, 2015, 10:06:27 AM

It was good of this team to take over supercoin when they did.
It was interesting to see if a team taking care of a few coins would work. I suppose thats still to be seen in its entirety.

Obvious problems arise however as with supercoin, there is just no continuous considerations to its development in a speedily manner.
With resent history, comments and expectations I don't see that there is much of an energetic life left for supercoin unless changes are made. The team can't spend time on it and thats up to their considered priorities. And also considering that whatever the team does work on in any given time, the speed of implantation is important as well for the good of all the coins that they are taking care of.

With every respect for the team, but I think that maybe this team has bitten off more than it can chew and by the time things do get done it will be to late anyway.

Early on in the game the problems with this coin, the forking and the re-downloading blockchain and all that stuff you can get away with for a while. But as things progress it becomes harder and harder to get away with and not having a detrimental effect on the continuous viability of the success of this coin, where people can rely on it and not have to check up here all the time to find out what the latest problems are instead of the latest advances.
At the moment both seem to be the case. Maybe at the moment things are balancing themselves out regarding price but for how long. I would suggest that you implement things that would provide the adequate security to alleviate this continuing situation.
Diamonds give a sense of security and affluence, which needs to be backed up by reality.

133  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [SDC] The Shadow Project | Anon POS | Ring Sigs | Decentralized MarketPlace (w) on: April 20, 2015, 01:09:44 AM

Hello, can someone please let me know, How many shadow coins in total are to be released I believe there are nearly 6.5 million in circulation at this time?

Thanks

Shadow uses Proof of Stake (PoS) to secure the network. With that comes a 2% annual growth that goes to "stakers" who process transactions. So to answer your question about total coins to be released, the current supply is 6.4+ million and that grows by 2% annually.

Thanks for the explanation exactly what I wanted to understand.

Hi Skycoin,

Haven't been able to receive the coins you sent yet.

Still can only run the first skycoin-win download which I downloaded quite awhile ago now. Ran it for a few hours but no coins showing in wallet.

The latest download I have, skycoin-win-20150415 starts and shuts down straight away. It just wont work, and as far as I can tell it isn't creating a blockchain file.

Thanks for sending coins, hopefully I can get them into my wallet sooner or later.

I think a new download is needed that doesn't have these problems. If you can show a new link to a new download so I can try it out as soon as its ready.

Thanks again.

Here to download wallet client: http://128.199.188.22/

Hello Skycoin,

I am not able to get this new skycoin download to work. It starts then just shuts down straight away.

The old download (skycoin-win) does work and the http://127.0.0.1:6420/ link shows my wallets, but there are no initial test coins showing in the wallet.

Can you please let me know why this download doesn't work and explain what to do in a simple and easy to follow manner.

Thanks.

My diamond wallet has stopped working this last week.
I have had no problems with it for a long time.
The last block time was friday march 20. It won't go past this time.
The connections also dont seem as stable as they use to be.

I have exactly the same problem.  Cry

What gives??  Huh

This happens, rarely, but it happens.

First try to restart your wallet.
If that does not work, you need to re-download your blockchain again.
That ll fix it 100%.

I had to re-download the blockchain as advised.
It now works well.
Thanks for the help.
As this is a problem, even though it is rare, do you understand what causes it and do you intend to fix it?

139  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [SKY] Skycoin Launch Announcement on: March 29, 2015, 07:53:58 AM

and "You have to nuke the blockchain files in .skycoin again. "rm ~/.skycoin/blockchain*"
===

Skycoin Can you please answer this and explain what to do.

or

can we save our wallets folder and just delete the skycoin-win folder and files that was in the zip file, and re-download them. Have they been updated?

When you run the skycoin client, you can see the following output in the console

Code:
Wallet Directory= {YOU_SKYCOIN_DIR}/wallets

If you are in Linux/OS X, then {YOU_SKYCOIN_DIR} should be "~/.skycoin",
if you are in windows, then {YOU_SKYCOIN_DIR} should be some other directory like "C:\Users\{YOUR_USER_NAME}\.skycoin" if you are using windows 7 with english locale.

Open the {YOU_SKYCOIN_DIR} directory with your file manager, and delete all files with name beginning with "blockchain".

I have done this and I cant find anything in the skycoin folder specified. There is only the wallet files. There is no blockchain folders or files.

140  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [SKY] Skycoin Launch Announcement on: March 26, 2015, 07:52:23 AM
Update:

I reset the genesis block, so if you had a copy of the old blockchain and run it, you get error after updating. You have to delete the old blockchain. I forgot to mention this.

Pull repo

In "~/.skycoin" there are files

blockchain.bin <-- delete
blockchain.sigs <-- delete
blockchain.bin.bak <-- delete
blockchain.sigs.bak  <-- delete
peers.txt
blacklisted_peers.txt
wallets <-- this is where your wallets are

"rm blockchain*"

Delete the blockchain related files. Then run client and you will have new genesis block.

!!! Make sure to keep the "wallets" folder. Maybe back that up first

In the future, I think different blockchains will be in different sub directories by hash, but that is not implemented yet.

I haven't been able to find the files you are specifying.
The skycoin folder on desktop contains these files - src folder, address_gen,  blockchain, blocksigs,  cert,  libg_s_dw2-1.dll,  libgmp-10.dll, and skycoin.

I can also find wallet files in .skycoin in document and settings, but the files you have mentioned I can not see anywhere.

What do you mean by "Pull repo"

Could you please specify exactly how to locate these files.

and "You have to nuke the blockchain files in .skycoin again. "rm ~/.skycoin/blockchain*"

Skycoin Can you please answer this and explain what to do.

or

can we save our wallets folder and just delete the skycoin-win folder and files that was in the zip file, and re-download them. Have they been updated?
