By the way.  Isn't this illegal?  Bitcoiners welcome to do what you want with their bitcoins, but I don't think we should be supporting and/or encouraging this activity on Bitcointalk.org.

The existence of this thread has always boggled my mind. It doesn't offend me but I'm sure it offends visitors.

Let me guess- American?  How do you imagine I buy these things?  Any idea?  I walk into a pharmacy.  LOL.  You live under a highly repressive government if you live in America or Western Europe.  Most of the world is like it is here in Thailand.  As a nation develops it gets more and more repressive and takes more and more revenue from you.  So you have to go to a doctor since he needs his cut.  And the insurance industry is involved.  Then you fund the food and drug administration.  You buy from a pharmacy where the pharmacist is making $150,000 per year or more.  Isn't all of this offensive to you?  Freedom offends most people who don't understand it.  Or maybe you thought freedom is what you are getting (and giving) in Iraq and Afghanistan.  LOL.

Yes. And yes.

I wish our pharmacies were like that.

I wonder, out of curiosity, how many of the 10% Gigavps mentioned were "reputable" forum members vs. freeloading new members. Sorry to all for this mess.
123  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Should Giga be tagged as a scammer? on: November 25, 2012, 12:24:16 AM
Better than going to the state.

Maybe in theory but not in practice.
Name one person who has gotten bitcoins back from going to the state ?

Name one person who has gotten their bitcoins back from a scammer otherwise. Anyway sorry for taking this off topic.

It's been a long time since I read about it, sorry. I actually have no use for the service but it's fun to talk about. About their domain--yeah I forgot about that. It happened after I read about it, I remember being really sketched out about the entire service.
125  Other / Off-topic / Is tormail a honeypot? on: November 24, 2012, 11:56:15 PM
Discuss. I've read interesting things on both sides, but I'm of the opinion that GPG-->pastebin (or something) is better.

Either way, he's certainly a social deviant.

No, I will survive without money.  Everybody that helps me is helped in return, it's mutual cooperation.

All I am doing is turning greed into love.

sounds like something a hooker would say.

I laughed so hard.

Well, if anyone can shed any light on this, I'd appreciate it.  I am holding up development of a software sales module I'm writing until I can find out if the bitcoins will go straight to an address after the Moneygram is sent or not.  Users won't necessarily have the email address of the developer to send it to, so if it's not possible that will kill my idea.  I began development just assuming that Bitinstant's own site was offering services they could actually deliver, which now appears not to be the case.  I've submitted this question to both Bitinstant and Coinapult customer support and have received no response.

They may have bitten off more than they can chew with the manpower available to them. I'm a bitinstant fan, they just have a lot of projects floating around at once and customer support (apparently) suffers accordingly. I think it's a just matter of time before the gears are greased.

This is atually a major problem, people are too dependent on scammer tags and consider it  "prosecution".

Agreed. And it fills up the forum with garbage.
132  Economy / Lending / Re: Bryan Micon's List of BTC Ponzi Schemes that should not be listed as "Lending" on: November 24, 2012, 11:35:29 PM
That argument by the Starfish is pretty telling, actually.  Admitting that it is possible for oneself to be scammed is the first step in avoiding scams.

The kind of person who gets scammed by a long con is the kind of person who has the arrogance to assume they're "too smart to get scammed."  So when they do bite on the hook for something, whether it's something as ridiculous as a Nigerian 419 scam or something more sophisticated, their refusal to face the fact that they've been scammed encourages them to keep throwing bad money after good.

In short, the surest way to be scammed is to be sure that you're too smart to be scammed.  It's also the surest way to keep getting scammed.

If anyone would know this, it's a poker player.  Not only is the whole game about lying and catching other people lying, but the whole milieu is filled with degenerates and scammers of various kinds.  If you couldn't spot them you wouldn't have money to keep playing poker for very long.

+1

^ Patrickhartnett is a dumbass clearly LOL!  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Trouble is that many scammers are psychopaths, who sound extremely friendly or knowledgeable or authoritative, whatever it takes to get your money. Many of them are totally free of any inhibition to lie and manipulate.

It is a particular kind of low-life that I wish would not exist, but it does. Look at Bernard Madoff. He was well respected, even chairman of NASDAQ for a time, and a very nice person, many people said who knew him.

"Dumbass" would be a compliment for them. They are many times worse than any dumbass.

I don't think Patrick is a psychopath by any extent.

Naive, probably. Because of his naivete and rash promises, he's between a rock and a hard place in debt. He may be bankrupt or damn near it.

And Micon was right. I'm here to eat crow and apologize to you, Bryan. P.S. I saw you on smashboards you dirty bastard Smiley

Yes, GPG would have solved this issue and many others associated with the collapse of GLBSE.

Doesn't that blur the lines a bit between currency exchange/money transmitter?
139  Economy / Gambling / Re: The Biggest Fish - cooperative gambling game! on: November 24, 2012, 10:25:23 PM
I just typed in a bunch of nonsense and it said I joined the game. Perhaps use some kind of input validation for bitcoin addressses.
