1221  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Thousands of avalon asic chips will soon kill gpu mining ! on: June 06, 2013, 10:17:20 AM
I have moved my GPU to LTC.
1222  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Difficulty jumps 28% on: June 06, 2013, 10:08:21 AM
GPU's wont become useless they will just farm alt coins and exchange for BTC, The BTC market is about to take a whole bunch of steroids. Pulling up a recliner for this firework show over the coming months.

I have GPU only. At present, I move most of GPU to LTC. The only one I have not moved is the broken one, which can only mine BTC but would die mining LTC.

1224  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: a 51% attack costs $20,000,000 and is devastating on: June 06, 2013, 09:41:53 AM

Summing up, you can spend 60125 btc to get about 120TH/s of hash power, way less than $20 milllion Smiley

And we only need 60125 / 3600 or 16.7 days to generate ROI, or rounding to 20 days if including electricity and other setup expenses Smiley

Stop reading, go ahead and raise your fund to build this setup Smiley
The problem is, it will take me about two months to build 120TH, at that time, the next work power is already 240TH/s. I will have to double my investment.
1225  Economy / Economics / Re: One of the problems I see preventing mass adoption on: June 05, 2013, 11:21:29 AM
What about the network fee when btc rises to say 1000$?
Micropayments would be essentially rendered impossible.

That's an interesting point. If bitcoin was to raise to that value purchasing of small (low cost) goods would not be possible as the transaction fee could be greater than the sale price...
Transaction fee can be reduced.
1226  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Ebay - Important on: June 04, 2013, 03:19:17 PM
I have been listing ASICMINER USB Block Erupters on ebay. I just received a call from them saying that these do not fit their "risk profile" and that NOTHING to do with bitcoin will be allowed on their site.

Has anyone else come across this?

Are there any other options for third-party sale of bitcoin hardware?

In ebay.co.uk, you can still bitcoin or mining equipment

1227  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Best GPU for Power vs Hash ratio on: June 04, 2013, 07:12:07 AM
You need to undervolt the card. My 200W 7950 runs 1030/1575MHz at 1.05/1.60V. The hash rate is 620k. TC = 24000, intensity = 19. If mining BTC, it would use less than 200W because I underclock memory as well.
1228  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Im convinced mining or some settings while mining destroys 5970's VRAM... =*( on: June 04, 2013, 06:31:37 AM
Undervolting can "potentially" cause issues, because...

Lower voltage = higher amps @ "any wattage"
Regulators direct voltage to "dump" it as heat. The higher the voltage, the less it is "dumping", thus, cooler regulators.

The wattage is determined by voltage. The lower the voltage, the lower the wattage. I agree with other parts of your arguments.
1229  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: PCI-E 6+2 Pin with 2 Molex Connectors Adaptor New Design + Powered Risers! on: June 03, 2013, 06:31:29 PM
For the powered PCIE riser, it is better to cut the 5 connection lines of +12V input from the PCIE slot. It should only be powered by the molex, not by the PCIE +12V slots as well. If you use two power supplies, then you will be in trouble. If part of the 12V is from one PSU, the other part is from another PSU, then there will be current running from the +12V of the slightly higher +12V (say 11.97V) to the slightly lower +12V (say +11.90V).
1230  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BTC vs LTC Mining on: June 03, 2013, 06:21:49 PM
I mine both BTC (40%) and LTC (60%)

So what you're saying is that you have a multiple personality disorder  Wink  Sorry, I could not help myself.

There is no reason to mine anything other than BTC.  You can speculate on price fluctuations of alt coins without mining them.

This of course might change as BTC difficulty goes through the roof and the only thing left for GPUs to do will be mine non sha coins.
Scrypt is not the last algo for them, there will be more I'm sure.

I thought that is called spreading the risk, do not put all the eggs in one basket.  I "believe" LTC have bright future, but not so sure.
1231  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BTC vs LTC Mining on: June 03, 2013, 05:44:49 PM
I do not like to effort  involved in the exchange. I also do not want to reveal my identity to Exchange.
1232  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Total hashrate jump +20T in last week? on: June 03, 2013, 05:42:45 PM
It is race against time for all of us. Soon the profit will be marginal. But the ASIC will keep on mining as its electricity cost is low. My GPU will be driven to LTC in the next three months, or may be two months, August.
1233  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: BTC are doomed on: June 03, 2013, 02:21:24 PM
Today's dust is tomorrow's gold. The transaction fee will reduce in the future.
1234  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Total hashrate jump +20T in last week? on: June 03, 2013, 01:00:49 PM
Maybe there is someone who has no interest in interacting with this (bitcointalk) community yet has funded there own asics?

I was thinking the same. Maybe one new company, and they're just making the ASIC for them.

If the new company just mine for itself, and does not sell, it will not make much money. For example, ASICMINER's mined Bitcoins drops every week recently because its share of mining capacity drops.

Today's ASIC overcharge. So selling ASIC miner is a good business.

There's really weird issue with the database, I'm upgrading the database and I think it will be fixed quite soon.

How about the shares we submitted? Will they count?
1236  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [8500 GH/s] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + UserDiff; ASIC tested on: June 03, 2013, 12:19:06 PM
My account says last share submitted 1 hour 38 minutes ago. Obviously, my cgminer is still working, and with all the shares accepted, no rejection at all.
1237  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: How much you paying for electricity? on: June 03, 2013, 08:50:59 AM
I'm with npower (UK) and I'm paying around $0.2 per kwh for my electricity.

I am also with NPower. If I use a lot of electricity, the price is equivalent to 20c, because there is a standing charge. It might rise in the near future as the price guarantee is just 3% below their normal rate.
1238  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: How much you paying for electricity? on: June 03, 2013, 08:47:47 AM
$0 because I am a rare exception and do not pay a utility bill ^_^

Wait till your parents see the next electricity bill once it arrives  Grin
Oh no they don't pay utility either. All power, gas, water, and HVAC is included in rent. Wink

I predict your rent is going up sooner rather than later.

I agree.

This is not buying cars with Bitcoin, just fiat.
