*Update*

As requested, users now have a new tab on the Stats page "Worker Stats" to see individual worker information!

let me know when you raise the difficulty, because with a stale rate of 10% is a waste electricity

I've made some adjustments to starting difficulty (just a 16->32 jump for now), as well as how quickly vardiff will retarget you, and the maximum size it will bump/drop you.  This should let people get to their 'target difficulty' more quickly.  Hopefully this will have a positive affect on stales.  I didn't want to get too aggressive with it, but I can continue to adjust further as I get more feedback and monitor the results of these changes.

Do you reduce the difficulty when we mine the faster coins? I have a lot of stale on WDC in a rig with 4 X 7950 with intensity of 19.

1142  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Need a recommendation on motherboard on: September 18, 2013, 10:12:53 AM
Can you do a profitability calculation?

GPU mining is not profitable for BTC any more.

If your electricity price is about 15c/kWh, it is marginal for LTC etc script mining with 795/70. It is not profitable with 5xxx or 69xx cards.

If you want to use the heat to warm your house, that is another story.

MSI Z77A-GD55 is a good one.

It is mining the DMD at the moment.

My hash rate is 3.7MH/s in a rig, the difficulty is 79.k, but the difficulty level is 666, Is it too high?
1144  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Possible uses for Heat Generated by btc mining? on: September 13, 2013, 07:55:56 AM
I think you could use it as a heat cource for a super efficient stirling engine which you could then attach to an electric generator.

Physics still wins.  The problem is that the hot side to cold side difference isn't that high, so you can't extract much energy from it...

Do you run script mining?

H2 can you bring back btc/mhash per day reporting?

This will be the main reason for ppl who left to go back to middlecoin.

It is here:

1147  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: USB Miner 330 MHs Profit? on: September 07, 2013, 09:36:59 AM
"usb miner and profit" in one sentence? Lol. Lmao. Rotfl. You guys are too funny.

It depends on the price of USB miner and cost of total electricity used for mining and the system.
1148  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: GPU mining: is any particular intensity more power efficient? on: September 07, 2013, 09:28:19 AM
Liquid cooling is only needed if you want to do insane overclocking, which means very high voltage. At that stage, the efficiency is very low.

1150  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: September 06, 2013, 03:32:56 PM
I predict, in terms of profitability, we will have an Ok day today and then it will progressively get worse for the next 3-4 days.

Is it because LTC difficulty will rise to 1200?
1151  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: How many GHs do you need to break even if you got a miner now? on: September 04, 2013, 07:13:48 AM
The number of GH/s is irrelevant what matters is the cost per GH/s.

Spot on!
1152  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: August 28, 2013, 03:46:42 PM
The profitability of a coin depends not only on the price, but also on the difficulty level. So a coin is profitable to mine at one time, does not necessary mean it will be profitable to sell at another time.

What you suggest is a trading strategy, it is not applicable to this pool as it introduce another variable (timing). I do not think we can time the selling rightly as we do not control the market.

So always selling at the earliest time permitted could be less profitable, but in long term, it might even out.

Just my 2c.

Ok..  So as a total Noob who has no clue how Diff really works could someone (Who believes the Dif should be changed) explain who is affected and how they are affected?   I hear stuff like 25% hashing power lost, or no shares found etc..

When you say people with low Hashing Rigs, please define what low is..   Like 100?  400?  1300?  2600?

The reason I ask is I feel in my one month here so far I did pretty good(Better than if I had just mined Litecoin)

My Rig has 2   7970 cards and my WU in CGMiner stays right between 1300 and 1400.    In CGminer both my cards show low 700’s

MiddleCoin reports me between 1200 to 1500 with 1350 being the Avg

In one Month here I earned right at 1.6 BTC  Or  $195  (Litecoin I calculated I would have made around $130 for one month)

So am I effected by the High Dif and if so, how?

Just trying to understand how it affects me…

You are not affected by the high difficulty as the hash power of individual card is 7xx kh/s. That is higher than most GPU cards.

In high difficulty mining, individual cards matters as a share is mined by a single GPU, not shared by all the GPUs in one rig according to what I learned from this thread.

I only use 7950/70 cards in this pool. All my 5850, 6990 cards are mining LTC in another pooll.

The website has not been updated for some time.

WDC is most profitable at the moment. We are still mining LTC.

What is the difficulty level at Multipool?
1157  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: August 20, 2013, 01:03:22 PM
The exact same thing applies to mining in a pool with different difficulties. Diff 512 or 128 does not matter. On average, you will get paid the same. It does not really matter if you submit 10 x "512-shares" or 40 x "128-shares" (conceptually).

Your "concept" is highly flawed. If you submitted 10x 512-shares and 40x 128-shares, they WOULD be equal. But here's how it works:

Scenario A:

128 A 07:41
128 A 07:42
128 A 07:43
128 A 07:44
128 A 07:45
128 A 07:46
128 A 07:47
128 A 07:48
128 R 07:49

Scenario B:

512 A 07:44
512 R 07:49

What's the difference here? With A you got 8x 128 submitted on time. That gives you a share count of (128*8=1024). With B, you got 1x 512 submitted on time. That gives you a share count of (1*512=512).

Therefore, while your GPU's worked at the SAME speed, you got half the share count.

Now, on things like LTC where the block time is large anyways, this is not such a big problem. But let's look at a fast-block coin:

Scenario A) fast miner:

512 A 08:13 B1
512 A 08:13 B2
512 R 08:14 B3
512 A 08:14 B4
512 A 08:14 B5
512 R 08:14 B6

Now a slow miner:

512 R 08:14 B1
512 R 08:15 B2
512 R 08:15 B3
512 R 08:16 B4
512 R 08:16 B5
512 A 08:17 B6

The fast miner got credit for 4/6 blocks. The second miner got credit for 1/6 blocks. Therefore the slower miner is being screwed out of the vast majority of all earnings. For 5/6 of these blocks, the slow miner got absolutely nothing, despite using power and wear&tear on their GPU.

I concur.
1158  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: August 20, 2013, 07:38:05 AM

The only time it would matter, as i see it, is if a coin is mined just a few minutes, so that a small miner does not even get one share submitted. But then again, it would not be a big deal, statistics dictate that what you lose in one period is made up for in another. So all you loose is the difference between profitability between the two coins mined.

For faster coins, if you cannot submit 1 (high difficulty = 512) share, you get paid nothing. So if we mine those coins for 1 hour, the slow miner will earn nothing during that period.

Is that share mined by a single GPU or is it distributed by all GPUs in one rig?
1159  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: August 19, 2013, 03:37:30 PM

I'm back at a 47% reject rate. I see some people are above that and some are way below. I just don't get it. With some of the coins I have a 0% reject, others go up as high as 60-70%. But I see some people (with high hash rates) that are always very low rejects, regardless of the coin.

What is the composition of your rig?
1160  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: August 18, 2013, 05:39:53 PM
I have tried to mine on this pool, but every time after a random amount of time my cgminer just stop to hash and just hang indefinetely,
anyone having this same issue? how can i solve this?

thank you

I have the same problem. It would say stratum connection is interrupted.

I use CGMiner https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=159267.0
to restart cgminer if the accept share does not change for 1min.
