1221  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - Secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency - Now on Hitbtc.com on: July 13, 2014, 01:30:45 PM
BUT....  the decline has been long and steady.  What do you think is driving this?  And how can this coin recover?
Tacotime said: "It’s not until 2-3 years in that we’ll likely see obscene increases in price given simple economics."
The said simple economics being mostly inflation rate (the rest being inside (wallet, website) or outside (institution getting into monero) announcements.
BTC was cheap for several years. And Monero follows a BTC-like emission curve. Connect the dots.

Network effect, liquidity, first mover advantage.
Well, technically, First-mover advantage is for Bytecoin :) But then again, this did not help Tenebrix either.

Monero is THE cryptonote currency. Everything else is altcoins.
Someone somewhere proposed the word "altnotes" :)

(finally thought about checking the "don't use smiley" checkbox. I feel much better now)

Yes, but there is no incentive to buy and sell OTC when we already have a good exchange, so it seems fishy that you'd still want to do this.
Reason is: not moving the price. This is one of the main reason for OTC when exchanges are availables.

I did buy TEK OTC one week ago. A large amount which could have move the price if I did not buy OTC. The more illiquid a market, the more interesting OTC is.

Which one of kussaka's do you vote for, moneromoo? I assume the same as me, although, like me, you probably have a hard time deciding between the two Smiley

I realized I forgot to mention my current voting:
3 for zeewolf v2.1, 1 for zeewolf v2.0 (if that made a difference, I would probably move this voice to 2.1 or kussaka) and 1 for kussaka.
1224  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HYP] HyperStake | Proof of Stake | 750% Annual | Trading on Coin-Swap on: July 12, 2014, 04:46:11 PM
So this coins doesn't provide anything to miners at all??? Why do they still mine the coin, for fun??
Read carefully: this is a pure PoS coin. There is NO mining anymore. And read my post above regarding staking.
1225  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HYP] HyperStake | Proof of Stake | 750% Annual | Trading on Coin-Swap on: July 12, 2014, 04:45:11 PM
One more thing, and this is about staking.

People who bought last Sunday and expect to get money by this Monday: that won't be the case! Monday will be the first day your coin will start gaining weight.

If you have one huge block, you will get coins very soon (if you have very big block, maybe even the same day), but at the cost of low reward because of the maximum reward code
If you optimised your blocks to get maximum reward, then you will have to wait some more days to get your coins. This is NORMAL. So just don't get mad if by Monday (which is Bastille Day, by the way, vive la France) you don't get money Smiley

Alright everyone, I'll release the latest build of the wallet now - v1.0.1 - I was going to wait until the new logo was chosen, but I think the syncing icon and the weight icon have been too confusing to a lot of people so the fix should be released now. v.1.1 will probably come out in a few days with new logo etc, and will only have minor code changes.

Code:
- Port change to 18777 so it can run side by side with TRK
- Fix minting icon and calcs to be more accurate
- Fix syncing icon to have no time requirement
- add moneysupply rpc command (preliminary)
- Add weight in coin control
- Misc minor GUI changes to coin control

https://github.com/presstab/HyperStake/releases/tag/v1.0.1

And for those for prefer (or need) to compile their update:
Quote
cd ~/cryptos/HyperStake && git pull && qmake-qt4 HyperStake-qt.pro && make

Provided the compiling code was:
Code:
mkdir -p ~/cryptos && cd ~/cryptos && rm -rf HyperStake && git clone git://github.com/presstab/HyperStake && cd HyperStake && qmake-qt4 HyperStake-qt.pro && make && ln -s ~/cryptos/HyperStake/HyperStake-qt ~/Desktop/HYPR
1227  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: [HYP] Bounty for logo - Hyperstake on: July 12, 2014, 04:19:31 PM
I like kussaka's logo for one simple reason; it is elegantly simple - in an era of flat design, this is important. The problem with rugrat's is that it is very heavy on the eye and I am concerned it won't shrink well. Plus, in-your-face logos work well for one-time exposure, but in the long run, they look "exhausting", "overloaded", grabbing too much attention. I think choosing a complicated logo is a common mistake (I draw experience from monero's logo, where the logo chosend by several teams of professional creative people was much simpler because it was meant for long term and visibility).
For this reason, I will change my votes for giving more voices to kussaka - with two logos, it will mean I will have to spread my votes to the point they will not be that useful anymore, but at least they will represent my choices.
Please rugrat and kussaka: provide smaller icons for favicon and coinmarket cap, the way zeewolf did it.
1228  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: [HYP] Bounty for logo - Hyperstake on: July 12, 2014, 07:19:34 AM
Thank you for the support and encouragement, armin22, Dexter12, Presstab, Bumberchute and David.  Smiley
If chosen, the final logo can be edited based on the feedback of the community, and we can then move forward to the rest of the required artwork (splash, wallet, etc.)
I'd like to have it done for HyperStake like we did for monero, that is:
Once the logo is done, the website should use a similar layout. Which for now mean the website should use shades of blue.
So, people with WordPress theming skills will be welcomed

So far, how it goes. Please not this post will NOT be updated, only the OP will. Please correct me I miscalculated.

Something a little different - blue-steel and spaced themed.

Bigger: https://i.imgur.com/kZNGYFu.png
I like it too. Competition is getting tough now. You should remove Saturn - it looks more like an artifact than like a planet, at least at this size. Plus, I'd like this Star Wars's hyperspace thing somewhere, but I don't know if it would mix well.

On travaille dessus.

It is possible to commit no mistakes and still lose. That is not a weakness, that is life."

supraluminique hmmmmm

Wouldve been better to post profile link,  why he was chosen,  what can he offer and so on.
She was chosen because she applied and her introduction pleased us both (both = me and presstab).

Hi everyone,

With HYP getting more and more popular, it becomes necessary to have a dedicated community manager.

Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome....... FOXY!
(she's from UK, so consider availability by time zones accordingly)

We have just added HyperStake to Cryptonator so now you can use all its free features
Thanks! You already are default on monero pools, did you know it?

presstab, I have a thought. I don't know if it's desirable, or even feasible, but it's been swimming in my head all day, so y'all are stuck with it Cheesy

Would it make things work better to put a 1 day maturity in for say 30 days? Same interest rate, just faster maturity to get the block chain rolling. I'm not even close to good enough at code to know if this is doable or worthwhile, but there it is.

Yeah I would just have to modify the stake modifier interval, but this requires a hard fork. So going through the hassle of getting everyone to switch clients etc, etc.
Plus the whole "instaminer"/"scammer" accusations.

Unick is more than happy to set us up. He even said I can manage the server so long as I don't give out the code.  It will cost us .25 btc though.  So if we want to set up a bounty I am all for it!!
More people for the stake bounty and it will work. For the moment, I am the only one and since I won't have any stake before 6 days, I won't be able to pay.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=678849.msg7701263#msg7701263
One can advance the money, as long as he get paid back later.

Seriously, if we cannot have any stake bounty team members, this means the coins doesn't deserve to get an explorer.
