Satoshi probably wasn't Japanese. If you're trying to remain anonymous then you probably wouldn't choose popular names from your alleged native country. You'd probably choose one from somewhere else. Or maybe it's a double bluff... Yes, theymos is satoshi.
1262  Other / Meta / Re: Ban for trolling on: October 01, 2019, 07:49:01 AM
Did this guy get banned for trolling recently or was it some other reason??
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5184917.0

Trolling, mixed with dozens of counts of ban evasion.
1263  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BitcoinNews.com's UEFA Champions League Football Preditor Pool Discussion thread on: September 30, 2019, 10:26:10 AM
Don't forget to do your picks for tomorrow. Spurs vs Bayern is the only game worth watching I reckon.
1264  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk.org would like to use your current location on: September 26, 2019, 11:35:08 AM
I wish we (the forum) had an alternative to Cloudflare :-(

Imagine Cloudflare has all the logs of the IP address that you have ever used to browse your BitcoinTalk account. I do not question that they do not have it yet.

If you're worried about snooping use a proxy or tor.
1265  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk.org would like to use your current location on: September 26, 2019, 07:36:50 AM
The feds are onto you.

Let's see this from two sides. One from your (DS) side and another from my(us applicants) side.

DS side:
Opening with multiple slots is less work for you. You will not need to review 100+ applications to find one user every time.

My side (us applicants):
Being with ChipMixer will be a next level of experience.
Not sure about others but when I see an opening for ChipMixer I feel excitement with thinking that YES this time I am going to make it! And so far no luck. Sometimes I feel bad for myself not to identify the ingredients that I am missing to be accepted. This feeling of excitement and ending with bad emotion is something that can not be realized if you do not experience it. I kinda like it. So from my side opening for a single slot is much more fun although it's more work for you.

Summary:
If you want less hassle then go for an opening with multiple slots and if you want us to feel the excitement of having an opening slot then go with one single slot every-time whenever available. :-D

You could just as easily argue the opposite. Having several slots open up is arguably more exciting than just the one. The likelihood of a user being the chosen one out of all the participants is very low and you'll roughly get the same amount of applicants whether there's one slot or several so the more slots the better the odds and the more chance of you having a slot. It just makes it fairer and easier on Darkstar as well as there's always going to be several worthwhile candidates and it's easier to chose a shortlist rather than just the one.
1267  Economy / Services / Re: [1-4 SLOTS OPEN] ChipMixer Signature Campaign | Sr Member+ | Up to 0.0375 BTC/w on: September 20, 2019, 07:32:18 PM
While we're on this topic: For those interested in joining the campaign, would you rather have more frequent openings of single slots, or slightly less frequent openings but with multiple spots open?
I will prefer open with multiple spot for future, it will save your time and reduce pressure for selection process.

I would agree. I think you'll get roughly the same amount of applicants whether your have one slot or several and it's probably a lot harder to pick one than a handful so save yourself sometime and hassle and just do them in batches.
1268  Other / Meta / Re: @theymos 🤪 on: September 20, 2019, 04:25:17 PM
I'm still using the older calculators, but have they really done away with the square looking numbers? How will the kids of today have fun in Maths class now?
TBF I don't really think physical calculators ever stopped using these square numbers. They just work and there is no need to invest in good looking font calculator. The only thing that really changed is that now they have more functions (and buttons). Also, smartphones...

A bit off-topic already, but: http://blog.presentandcorrect.com/250-words-you-can-spell-with-a-calculator Cheesy

I used to spend half my time in math class seeing how many words I could come up with on the calculator. Probably why I did better in English than I did in math  Cheesy.

Grin. Couldn't resist.

New players just need to be accepted into the group.

Ha.

Sorrynotsorry.
1271  Other / Meta / Re: Indamuck Wrongfully Banned user, here since 2013 on: September 19, 2019, 03:21:47 PM
I only have this account

It always starts off with "this is my only account", but then as we quickly see the oh, every member of my extended family has an account here and half the village. We just share the same wallet but we're not alts.

I'm not denying that I know some of those people, (some I'm related to) , myself though I only have 1 forum account.    All you can really do is believe what I'm saying, I'm not guilty of ban evasion or any other ban worthy offence.

Ahh, the classic they're not my alts but my friends/family/cousin/dog's accounts. Care to list all the accounts of your friends and family here so we can avoid confusion?

I know I should of avoided this headache in the first place but didn't think it would really matter, it was only small amounts of money anyways.
I don't know what the truth is here, but obviously a mod agrees with the blockchain-linkage evidence and I think you're going to have a hard time appealing their decision.

I never understood why people would share a wallet, even with family members--especially with a relative like a sibling.

They usually don't. It's just pretty much the only possible excuse they can use here when they get caught. What else can they claim to explain away the fact that they're all sharing wallets amongst other things?

Bitbustah isn't my only relative that has used this forum,  2 spaces after sentences, guess that isn't the standard for most people.

Interestingly enough my brothers's video game addiction is the cause of this, his association with runescape members who probably aren't that ethical.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5170831.msg52015582#msg52015582

Lay off the Video games guys

Just want to know if i get unbanned or whatever, guess I gotta move to reddit if I dont Sad

Oh, video game addiction is the cause. That's a new one to the list of excuses. How is a video game addiction the cause of this and why is it your brothers fault? Is he the one that's been getting up to all the mischief and shenanigans here or is it the unethical runescape friends?

Maybe I'll post my personal information ,id, family and stuff if that will help but not sure I wanna go down that route.

Yes, that will help. Send theymos your KYC details and I'm sure he'll get right on it.

Would like to get a response on what exactly the ban was for

Ban evasion.

1273  Other / Meta / Re: chopper membership possible? on: September 18, 2019, 11:54:33 AM
is chopper membership still possible and how?
No.

Only "copper" membership is available. Cheesy

Chopper is a new one to add to the list of mispronounced ranks. My favourite is still Cupper Member.

1274  Other / Meta / Re: Is this concerning? This could be a conspiracy too. on: September 18, 2019, 09:36:16 AM
A conspiracy is all this is. You're not going to be banned for having a handful of posts deleted and it's likely nobody has it in for you and is just reporting random old bumps or unsubstantial posts of yours. You have a few in the queue reported as unsubstantial so that's probably why.
Good to have your voice here bud and learning about the unhandled reports. May I know the reasons given for the posts, obviously if it's possible by the moderation rule. It's just a curiosity.

And what is your view about handling reported posts back from long ago except it has malware or harmful contents and risky for the users?

They were essentially reported as unsubstantial. As for older reports on unsubstantial posts etc I tend to leave them alone but obviously not every mod will. I think it's not really necessary to report them either but people are free to report whatever they wish.

I gave you 5 merits for trying to introduce some humour into the forum.

Please note - this award is not part of a conspiracy.

It would be if you had a chipmixer signature.

I hope you accept suchmoon if only because it will annoy cryptocunter to no end. He's also a great poster and fellow meta merit felcher. I am also willing to offer you a bribe in merits for your co-operation.
1277  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BitcoinNews.com's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: September 17, 2019, 08:50:11 AM
Btw was did anyone from the get 3 points from the Aston Villa vs West ham draw, I had West Ham to win 2 - 1, but I knew that wasn't going to happen right immediately Masuaku got some off. That caps another shitty week for me in the pool.  Undecided

You can see everyone's pool picks after the game has kicked off. I had the game at 1-1. It's rare that people go for 0-0 but it can pay off as in cryptofrka case especially as he was the only one who got it.

If anyone wants to join the champions league pool there's still time: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5154317.0
1278  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: BitcoinTalk's 2019 Champions League Pool Sign Up Thread on: September 17, 2019, 08:31:51 AM
Please wait for me until friday, I’m on holiday and have no (very limited) acess to my wallets
Can I make my picks on Tuesday/Wednesday and pay the fee by friday... will my picks be counted?

As I said before, you can make your picks now and join the league at any point I believe. I can send you the invite link today as long as you promise to pay on Friday or asap.

I just sent entry fees for cryptofrka and myself + a little extra to cover at least transaction costs for both pools. I emptied one of my wallets for you guys  Wink

1279  Other / Meta / Re: Did rules on temporary offence changed? on: September 17, 2019, 08:28:49 AM
It's a guide about signature campaigns. You misinterpreted it to mean bans for everything else.
1280  Other / Meta / Re: Did rules on temporary offence changed? on: September 17, 2019, 07:34:36 AM
There are no set rules on how long you can be banned for. A mod can give you a 1 day ban or 100000 day ban if they see fit.
7, 14 and 30 day bans are the most common ones used by global mods and admins. While I usually default to these, whenever there's a situation where an offense just doesn't match the most common severity levels (is lower than the lowest, higher than the highest or in between), I tend to use 3, 5, 10 or 60 days for such offenses.
I understood, but the guide of @hilariousandco should be updated with a few words on what you both disclosed.
Currently, if a newbie visits that thread, they will be misguided somehow. They will think there are only three types of temporary bans, with 7-days, 14-days, and 30-days ban period.
Staff do not want to hand out bans for unconstructive posts but if we feel that you as a user are continually making very poor or unsubstantial posts due to your paid signature the following bans will be issued:

First offence: 7 days
Second offence: 14 days
Third offence: 30 days
Fourth: Permanent ban
I also know there is a rule quoted below, but I still think if that guide updated with some details on ban periods of temporary bans, it is likely better, IMO.
23. When deciding if a user has broken the rules, the staff have the right to follow their interpretation of the rules.[e]

What does the signature campaign guidelines thread have to do with a person getting banned for posting in a giveaway?
