Hollywood should also tell you the chance of being hit once by a trained squad of goons with guns is about 1%.
1262  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I cant own a gun? No judge no jury. Guilty until proven slave on: February 21, 2012, 08:40:27 PM
Oh, how dramatic.  The gun totting american can't carry a concealed firearm.  Darwin's natural selection is working too slow.  For self defence, how about a cross-bow, large knife or a simple shotgun tied to you hat.

Borrowing from a very useful list of advice, "you can't carry it on to the plane if it doesn't fit through the x-ray machine"
1263  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Something I'd like to get some opinions on on: February 21, 2012, 08:34:17 PM
I'm totally grief stricken over this whole thing. The magazine loses money because I was a dumbass who accepted work too easily, we lose a possibly good client, and one more person will sulk in their pride thinking I did them wrong.

There has got to be a more sensible way to handle things in Bitcoin beyond these dumbass backyard politics.

Unfortunately you can not change how they think.  Obviously they wish to make some stand on principle when they should realise the world doesn't always work out the way we would like it to.

You have made it clear the two services were being delivered separately, the Magazine does not want to accept an ad for a service ( linked to a web site or not), you couldn't deliver the website and offered a full refund, and the client/user was under prepared to do what they needed to get the web site up and running.  It actually takes knowledge and time from both sides, and time often goes with money.  As people tend to be cheap and not spend what it takes, they get disappointed.

On the plus side, that you care enough to make this conflict public an ask for opinions is good.  However, you might still feel shitty about it for a while yet - then some other crap will land on you.

The occasional trolling is part of your user profile, and I'd be happy to call you a douche over a beer if I had the chance.

I appreciate that, and you'd undoubtedly have to call me a douche over a beer because I'd refuse to drink one since I don't drink!  Cool

I'm ok with that.

Hmmm, I'm kind of impressed that this semi-mundane thread has attracted LoupGaroux.

As to the DiscoChannel show, only seen the ads.

I was actually kind of touched by the genuine approach. And I am a fan of hockey at all levels, so Milkman brought out my softer side.

Well, I think we both want a happy ending.  Not sure who the great hockey goalies are, but maybe the kid will go far.  (shrug - don't know, maybe he'll just enjoy the game)

1267  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Chess players wanted!! Beta Testers on: February 20, 2012, 10:29:58 PM
I tried it yesterday - it's a two person thing with stakes.  It's in beta testing as it says in the title, but show some promise and could be fun.
1268  Economy / Lending / Re: I need 150 BTC lended for 15 days on: February 20, 2012, 07:15:25 PM
I do understand the lack of trust in the person selling the material.
No matter the outcome of the deal, i will pay the bitcoins lended.
Its just a matter of paying them faster with the new rig, or slower with the rigs i have.

We're just a suspicious bunch.  Sometimes we're looking for the next interesting scam, sometimes a reason to do or not do something.  The arrangements here require a heightened degree of caution because of the issues observed over time around fake deals, and deals that go bad.  You also need to remember that typically a 90% payback rate is break-even and that the lending section is still fairly new.
1269  Economy / Lending / Re: I need 150 BTC lended for 15 days on: February 20, 2012, 06:32:52 PM
Noted, watching.  Extended a couple of new loans yesterday so waiting for some funds to come back in before doing another one (a few days).  The point already made above suggest caution on all sides.

Just so people are aware, because there is some interest in this, I have funded 70 coins to Milkman39.

I have a variety of information requested and provided and potentially a very nice watch.

But, did you get the watch first? Like in: before sending him the 70 BTC?

I can collect at my leisure if I need to, either in person or by proxy.
1272  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Cryptoxchange - order matching error? on: February 20, 2012, 04:08:12 AM
I had an email reply from Ken - there was a problem that they were fixing.  It might be running again as I was able to complete what I was trying to do.
1273  Economy / Lending / Re: 50 btc loan 15% repay (25 btc funded) on: February 20, 2012, 03:59:40 AM

Update - partial repayment early Smiley  Thank you.

Update #2 - fully paid.  Thanks.

1275  Economy / Lending / Re: Loan Application to grow mining operations. on: February 20, 2012, 03:52:24 AM
Funded 200 coins.

Repayment is 240 coins in two months time.  We have an additional clause that says if the exchange rate (like gox/usd) increase above $7, the repayment gets pushed out by up to a month.

We also discussed the potential for a $20 price, and in that case I might just be very happy to have 200 coins back at $20.

Just received an email from Ken.  I think the short version is it broke.  They're working on it.
1277  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Cryptoxchange - order matching error? on: February 20, 2012, 03:19:17 AM
They have a problem - don't know what, but it's affecting more than just order execution.
1278  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Cryptoxchange - phone no disconnected, no email replies on: February 20, 2012, 02:26:02 AM
I don't think they've gone yet.  And there was a 20Feb update that might have tripped them up (but I would have thought unlikely).  User Cryptoxchange has been online today as well.
1279  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Cryptoxchange - phone no disconnected, no email replies on: February 20, 2012, 02:18:04 AM
Similar - tried to withdraw, no response and odd bid/asks not completing.

there isn't a special category for "12"

Maybe I'm just feeling old, but not too old.
