^ That's a rather gross misrepresentation of Buddhism... What you are doing here is elevating the scientific method to a position it has not earned (and cannot earn), and then using it as a superset (a kind of God figure) within which you believe that you must fit other ontologically-distinct approaches to understanding what reality is. To understand where Buddhism is even coming from, you have to go back to Plato and ignore the Aristotelian separation of physics and metaphysics, science and natural philosophy, for that is the reductionist distinction that has turned science/philosophy into the religion of science. Instead of oral traditions and Church on Sundays, this religion is handed down via the unconscious belief in authority. Here's probably the nicest place to start to get a grip on Buddhism:

https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Alan+Watts+Buddhism

Maybe I should preface my response by letting you know I've studied (and practiced aspects of) Buddhism for well over a decade and have taken college courses and read over a dozen Buddhist texts (including original sutras, several books by the Dalai Lama, The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying, etc.) on the topic.  I wouldn't consider myself an expert on Buddhism especially when it comes to it's history, but I believe I have a very solid grasp on itsphilosophy.

That being said, I think you misunderstood the Buddha as he virtually replicates the scientific method (at least, as much as logically possible; forget that the scientific method came MUCH later) and applies it introspectively. mmIt's not an exact analogue of the scientific method, but it's very similar in that observation is the basis for learning -- about the nature of the self rather than the nature of a Positivistic Universe) -- and that with this knowledge one can form hypothesis about the self, to set goals for one self, and implement methods to attain these goals.  The Buddha made it exceptionally clear that all information is filtered through our own unique observational window (even information discovered and shared by others) and thus we need a sound way to depend on ourselves.

However, you raise an interesting consideration in that The Buddha would not consider reality in dichotomous terms, though that doesn't change the fact that the Buddhist method for acquiring knowledge both within and without looks a lot like science.  This is implicitly shown through the Buddhist conception of the word 'karma' which is perfectly synonymous with 'cause and effect."

I say one of the craziest religions is Googlism.

http://www.thechurchofgoogle.org/

And then Creativity.

http://creativitymovement.net/

ALL religions are crazy.

I wouldn't go that far.  Buddhism teaches that which is the result of observation and experience, and they even provide replicable methods of achieving different spiritual goals, the purposes of which are integral to its core doctrine..  It basically teaches you to utilize the scientific method.

In my opinion, the great thing about Buddhism is that it adds to empiricism an emphasis on the observation of internal processes and even meta-observation.   It's unfortunate that knowledge gained from this scope of observation is often disregarded as totally insignificant.
What kind of meth are you on? Buddhism isn't religion. It's a lifestyle.

That's a very unimportant semantic distinction, and I would argue that Buddhism certainly can be considered religious (e.g. Mahayana Buddhism could be classified this way due to its incorporated deities).
1303  Economy / Service Discussion / Impact of extraneous transactions on value of Casascius Coins on: July 11, 2014, 11:05:39 PM
Since I'm in the process of trying to liquidate some physical coins, I've been running some first-bits through Casascius's Bitcoin Analyzer and I'm seeing that some coins, including one of my October-minted Series 1 error coins, have received some of those "pinging" type transactions.  In some cases, it's as small as 1 Satoshi while others are as large as 0.001 BTC.

Do you think this has any impact on the collector value of a coin?  If so, in a positive or negative way?  For example, would someone think this decreases the coin's collector value as it may no longer be considered to be in "original" condition or because the balance does not match the denomination?  Or, would someone think it's more valuable simply because the coin's denomination has increased?

My initial impression upon seeing that one of my error coins has received an extraneous transaction was negative -- I was disappointed that the balance no longer matched the denomination.  But, if such extraneous transactions do indeed have a negative impact upon the collectible value of the coin, then it could be worthwhile (and certainly easy) to send small, extraneous transactions (e.g. 1 Satoshi) to all active physical coins.  This would be made possible through Casascius's website as he publicizes all addresses.

Is there a way to create a physical coin with an address that is "locked" for further deposits but whose balance can still be withdrawn?

Willing to share the 8 bit prefixes for the coins and show better pictures of the holograms? It'll make it easier to make an informed decision when we can verify they're funded, determine what date they were funded, etc.

Of course I'm willing Smiley

I'll get on it after I get home from work.

Do I need to enroll again if I enrolled in May, when the previous system was in place?
Do I have my "earnings" lost if I didn't enroll?

The simple rule is:  If your name is not on the Enrollment List, you will not get paid.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=291387.msg7421598#msg7421598

I'd suggest you re-enroll with the new system ASAP.

i'm not in the Enrollment List, but that's becouse i've signed after 20/06.

Will i receive payout on 17/07?

If you are not on list yet, then try to enroll again otherwise you will not get paid.
Stop spreading bullshit dude...if he has filled the first form and submitted that second one blank then he is here, stunna just had no time to update the enrollment list.

Did you read what he wrote, he signed after 20/06 and Stunna already updated enrollment list on 30th june.

I'm having the same issue.  I followed the enrollment steps precisely before the supposed update and I do not see my name on the list.  It's reasonable to ask for some type of definitive statement about enrollment as there is otherwise no way of knowing if I'm wasting my time.

It would warrant negative feedback to have followed all the necessary enrollment steps and promote the website if I am not compensated for it.  As I have no idea if I'm wasting my time, this is pending.

Edit:  I hope at least there is some leniency about the rules prior to knowing definitively whether one is enrolled or not. For example, if a user enrolls but is not officially notified or listed on the enrollment list, he/she should be able to change signatures or whatever else with no penalty until he is notified that his/her enrollment is accepted.

According to PETA, cats can thrive on a vegetarian diet: http://www.peta.org/about-peta/faq/is-it-safe-to-feed-my-dog-or-cat-a-vegetarian-diet/

It's pretty silly that they try to justify such a diet for strict carnivores likes cats.

LOL! I've read a few reports where cats have died and/or become very sick from vegetarian diets.  For what it's worth, PETA should not be trusted about anything.   They are the biggest hypocrites out there.  They tell us that it's wrong to kill animals, but yet they do it themselves.

Yes they can thrive on a vegetarian diet, they can also get sick from a vegetarian diet. They can do either one very well, but because the majority of humans are closed minded individuals not willing to go against their religious beliefs, all of a sudden if one cat becomes sick through a vegetarian diet, simple minded human conclusion is: "LOL PETA CAN'T BE TRUSTED!!!!!!"

For example, at one point the oldest living dog in the world was a vegan dog, living up to 189 dog years, holding the Guinness world record:

http://www.care2.com/greenliving/vegetarian-dog-lives-to-189-years.html

I used to be as ignorant and foolish as you two by the way, not knowing what I was missing out on and not unlocking my true potential by trying out something new and removing meat from my diet. So that's okay, I think we're all ignorant and foolish at one point in our lives, we might have been brought up in a religion for example, or maybe thought pop idols such as Justin Bieber were heroes, or maybe made a lot of stupid decisions, who knows.

But from my own experience, every single aspect of my life has improved thanks to changing my diet. Literally everything. It's the ultimate panacea. It's a revelation, a single change in my life that changed it for the better. I think if you're eating meat, you don't have as much energy, as much of a clear mind, or as much power and intelligence as I and other vegetarians and vegans have on a daily basis.

If you don't believe me, check out how crime rates improved after a vegan diet: http://vegetarianspotlight.com/2011/vegan-diet-impacts-california-prison/

Quote
In a video-taped interview obtained by Vegetarian Spotlight, Victor Valley nutrition services coordinator Julianne Aranda explains that “what we eat not only affects us physically, but it affects our mental attitude, our aggressiveness and our ability to make good decisions”

There's a lot of scumbags on the planet, a lot of rapists, muderers, scammers, people that will deceive you in order to take a full advantage of you. Millions of people get sent to the hospital per year due to illness and diseases, and most people think that's just normal.

But the oldest vegetarians and vegans out there are always full of energy and health like I am, the oldest marathon runner in the world is a 103 year old vegetarian, the first male to 115 years old was a vegetarian heavy drinker and smoker, the ultramarathon world record belongs to two vegans 68 and 64 years old, speaking of world records even the heaviest weight lifted in the world belongs to a vegan, most ironman championship wins world record belong to a vegan too.

It allowed people to think more clearly, allowed people to think far enough ahead about their decisions so they don't commit crimes. Seriously, if you're eating meat, you're nowhere near as fast or clear a thinker as a vegetarian or vegan nearby. Sorry but you're dulled and hindered by the crap you eat.

103 year old marathon runner - world record holder - full of energy and full of life

Here are some famous vegetarians and vegans, let me know what you think:

Einstein - Theory of Relativity. Had the most groundbreaking discovery of the 20th century.
Isaac Newton - Created Calculus and Founded Physics. He is considered the father of Physics, the father of Calculus, the Father of Modern Medicine, and even the Father of Modern Science.
Nikola Tesla - Invented the radio and Alternating Current. Has a cult following that many of his inventions were stolen.
Gandhi - Civil Rights Movement
Buddha - Founded Buddhism
Steve Jobs - Created Apple
Ramanujan - Genius mathematician.
Edward Wittin - Einstein's successor and foremost string theorist
Brian Greene - Genius who refuted Einstein's theory that space could stretch but not tear.
Rosa Parks
Thomas Edison
Benjamin Franklin
Prince
Mike Tyson
Forest Whitaker
Natalie Portman
George Bernard Shaw
Leonardo Da Vinci
Leo Tolstoy
Cesar Chavez
Russell Brand
Carl Lewis
Paul McCartney
Bree Olson
Alicia Silverstone
John Harvey Kellogg
Michael Jackson

IDK you may not know the next people on the list, I don't know much about athletes but when I talked to people who do, they recognized these names. I mean I know Mike Tyson of course, but I don't know much about these next people in the list to be honest, they were apparently some of the best athletes in the world and vegetarian:

Joe Namath
Tony La Russa
Martina Navratilova
Robert Parish
Billie Jean King
Carl Lewis
Timothy Bradley

From my own experience it's hard for me NOT to accomplish anything, I've just been able to dominate almost every endeavour put in front of me thus far since I changed my diet, it is so funny sometimes that people don't believe you, but I'm a completely different, better person. It's a huge boost to what I was before, I'm not joking, I'm better in every single aspect. It's amazing. But hey, you don't have to believe, just ask Einstein or Thomas Edison, the wizard of Menlo Park, or even Leonardo Da Vinci, the smartest people of their time, dominating.

Heck if you want a starter to see why you should try a vegan or vegetarian diet, watch the videos on my signature. Otherwise you're just a closed minded individual left behind in my dust of accomplishments and improved intelligence Smiley.

Smiley

XD

Benefits I felt after taking meat out of my diet

Prevent the top 10 leading causes of death by becoming Vegan

Girl has stage 3 brain cancer, changes to vegan diet, cures cancer

Guy has AIDs, switches to vegan diet, cures AIDS

It's a shame that veganism apparently doesn't help to increase your self-awareness because you overlook the fact that virtually all of your long-winded posts contain, at most, a couple sentences that are actually contextually relevant.

When 90% of your posts is you going off in logical fallacy land (i.e. strawmen, ad populum, false causation, false dichotomy, and the list goes on and on...), I really, *really* start questioning your claims of superior intelligence.

This is a classic psychological response of a scammer regardless of whether you actually are one.

First, overreact.  Second, redirect the focus of conversation away from yourself onto your critic(s).

I wouldn't buy from you simply because I don't like your attitude as a merchant.  Your insults don't even make sense.

This is nice to see.  Hopefully deposits and withdrawals with process smoothly.  It'll be interesting to see how many people purchase alts directly with fiat vs. those that exchange BTC for them.

I get aggresive because he's flaming. If he can't write a normal comment he can leave also all other people who can't do this.

I will become trusted here no worries.
I started yet on this forum Smiley

I think it's perfectly normal and *responsible* to ask a stranger how one can be sure he can be trusted with one's money, especially after he has refused escrow.
1317  Economy / Digital goods / Re: [EBOOK] How to make $3000-$5000 Montly Super Easy [AUTOBUY][UNSATURATED] on: June 30, 2014, 12:06:17 AM
I don't mean the double refund part with that.
Double refund stays for always. Wink i don't understand why people flame lol
still, what's preventing you from running away after you sold the book? provide escrow or no one is going to take you seriously.

I don't do something like that i want to become an HQ member on this forum. I have also an good reputation on an other forum i make $500+ exchanges there.
But i also want to become trusted here if you don't trust me leave my thread please.
You can talk normal with me, no need to flame..
Or don't you get attention at home?

You were asked a legitimate question and given a (potential) costumer's recommendation.  Being passive-aggressive and defensive doesn't bode well for your sales.  Trust is earned.  You're asking for it, but what are you doing to earn it?

1319  Economy / Speculation / Re: Next Bull Run (questions) on: June 28, 2014, 07:44:29 PM
I have some questions that I cannot answer myself so I invite you to post your opinions

1. Are we in a situation that needs only a spark to ignite a new rally? If so, what could it be? Buttefly effect?

2. If there will be rally, could it start by let's say August (~250 days after the last big one)?

3. Will the rally be less powerful (ie 2-3x price increase) than the last one, because not so many newcomers and also because many think it will be a huge rally?

4. Could the rally be bigger because now it's even more exposure of Bitcoin (USMS auction, press) and people know it's the best way to make some easy money?

5. Could we be at the saturation point of bitcoin usage by masses (my personal argument is that many people heard of bitcoin but very few afford or are interested to own)

1)  Maybe.
2)  Sure.
3)  Maybe.
4)  Sure.
5)  Doubt it.

I have a lucky 8-ball to sell if you're interested.
