13301  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin trending down. Dogecoin trending up. on: February 17, 2014, 03:19:28 AM
I fail to see Dogecoin as a joke when it's completely kicked btc's ass as an investment since it was created. Check btc value in early Dec vs now, then Doge when it was created in Dec and now if you don't buy it.

You're seriously comparing the entire lifespan of dogecoin (2 months lol) with the performance of bitcoin in only the last two months of its 4+ years of existence? Without bitcoin dogecoin wouldn't even exist, it's just an old copy of litecoin with a meme behind it and decent marketing. Let's talk again in a year from now, I'm willing to bet that even litecoin will easily outperform dogecoin in the course of an entire year. Silly hypes never last very long, and nobody is going to take a coin like dogecoin seriously. I give dogecoin 4 more months at most until people get bored of it and it will die a slow death. Good luck with your delusions.
What's remarkable is in only 2 months (lol) dogecoin daily transactions have surpassed btc, which as been around 4+ years.
You are the delusional one if you really think bitcoin will be the top coin forever.

You neglect the content of these transactions which is the most important part of the function for which a transaction serves.

How many DOGE transactions were actually payment for labor? How about goods? Just because people throw DOGE around as a tip speaks more truth about the perception of value in Dogecoin. People hold it as worthless and as such are eager to tip it away...

How many Deutschmarks do you think were spammed around after the hyper-inflationary period of the Wiemar Republic? Do you think that the huge volume gave them some additional store of value?

It would be interesting to see how many of those transactions are payout for the miners and people rushing their coins to exchangers.
13302  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LEAF] LEAFCOIN - ETA NEXT BLOCKHALVE 2014/02/18 T 07:41:19 on: February 17, 2014, 03:18:11 AM

That's going to end quickly by the next halving.

It will end even sooner with the difficulty retargeting.

After 30000 block the LEAF will not be so attractive for multipools so the diff will not jump so much...

It will all depend on the price and the amount of people mining it.
Leaf might be the most profitable right now , but if 1000 miners switch to it , in 240 blocks the difficulty will re target and it will go down in the tops.

If the price doubles by the times the reward is cut , it's the same story.
13303  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 6 Crypto Currencies to Hold Long on: February 17, 2014, 03:14:06 AM
1. Cryptogenic Bullion because of the Proof of Stake and low supply. It takes 1000$/day to sustain its price which is why it has been steadily rising even throughout the recent BTC 'crash.' Plus CGB hasn't been recognized widely yet which means if, and when, it gets noticed the price will multiply many times over.

2. Bitcoin because it's most known

3. Dogecoin because the community is awesome

4. Quark because of the community and devs

5. Potcoin because I know how big marijuana culture is and so a crypto representing them could have huge potential

6. Would need to do more thorough research for more long term investments

1. Because you made this new account just to say that  Smiley

so , you can mine more...stop thinking that hashrate has anything to do with the price

This is the fake Panda coin that is run by hackers. The wallet is full of virus that will steal your balance. there is another pandacoin that was released 1 day before this fake one that has hundreds of pages of replies... not 30. Be warned!

I'm pretty sure I will trust a newbie on this , especially when he is interested in the other coin.

13307  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SLR] SolarCoin - PoW reward for solar energy | the GREEN KING of Crypto on: February 17, 2014, 03:02:54 AM
Solarcoin is what I have been waiting for. Too many copycoins out there that have very little purpose or innovation. I think that once the community embraces this coin (after people research the coin and do not just jump to conclusions after reading the premine code) this coin will take off.

All I can say is, I hope the devs of this coin are legitimate. Since this coin has a centralized aspect the Devs have to be silent? I've only seen Nick step up and say he is a "volunteer". I see that he is only accepting donations for his time on the Solarcoin website.

Nick, what do we know about the Devs of this coin? Who is on the board that controls the majority of these coins? I'm probably missing this information so please forgive me if it's right in front of my face.

One of them is some kind of economist who wrote some sort of paper about reward systems for solar energy generation, but found that it wasn't feasible until crypto-currencies came along. From what I gather, the devs for this coin and the organization behind them is LEGIT, and to consider coins made by random pump & dumpers on the internet with no functional value beyond any other crypto as legit and not this one is just plain silly.

I think some people are weirded out by this coin because of the aforementioned lack of engagement by the devs, but I can assure you that that is not for lack of work going on behind the scenes, and I take it to be a sign that these guys aren't in it to make a quick buck off the premine like so many others are.

I realize it's hard to take it at face value, but I have high hopes that we are going to see really big things from this coin. Sleeper-coin of 2014 in my book.

spot on! Ive done my research too, before i decided to mine this coin and I can only see promising things out of solarcoin.

Are you doing it with solar energy or not? You might ruin the coin if you mine it with nuclear power produced energy.

What is this even supposed to mean??

It was a bad joke , just like this solarcoin.

I'm pretty sure that doge has a bright future , with a dev that doesn't have a clue how many coins he has created in the first place.
A clone is a clone , destined to lurk in the shadows forever.

Who is paying with DOGE for goods and what merchants accept DOGE?

I think there is a bakery and a salt shop accepting doge =)))))))))

Really?

Really Smiley

This coin is expected to start at least 25 satoshi when it hits the exchanges. Much work has coin into this coin, it is the superior pandacoin and the marketing for it is superb. Look at our facebook page and twitter. Almost 10000 followers!.

I don't like to deal with coin swaps however, they are risky.

I Feel safer for sure without guns, in my country you know you dont have to fear anyone can bring a gun to even normal people. I just dont like the idea that anybody can have a gun.
Ofcourse people can bring other weapons like hammer/baseballbat/knife but you can defend alot better vs that.
And with a gun, 1 bullet is all it takes you only have to pull the trigger.

guns are hard to get where I am, I'd feel safer if I could have one at home.. I've seen many situations where 3 people with guns have run from 1 person with a gun, never seen 3 people with machetes run from 1 person with a machete, they are just overwhelmed and cut to bits - they aren't scared as they are of a single bullet.

there's certainly more home invasions and burglaries where there are less guns.

more importantly though is having protection from government and foreign invaders.

Are you sure you can back this with some numbers?

I agree. All alts are low atm. Bitcoin horror has to end and price will go up for the BTC and the rest of the coins.

This is the painful part , that unfortunately all altcoins are tied to bitcoin. And more dangerous is that a single person running an exchange can do so much damage to bitcoin with just a stupid stament.

How?

Did you check the price?
Do you know how many people are far more reluctant to invest or use cryptos after the press release in which mtgox claimed the bitcoin protocol is buggy?

The damage has been done , and it will influence in the wrong way lots of people and business who where eager to join the ship.

There certainly are a lot more alternatives today, though

Like it or not cryptsy is the market withe the volume and which influence the price of any coin.
13317  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think is the future of altcoins? on: February 17, 2014, 02:35:53 AM
I think an alt coin will some day surpass bitcoin.
Bitcoin is just the first attempt in crypto currencies & block chain technology.

Altcoins are all clones of bitcoin  , so no altcoin will ever surpass it.
Another kind of coin , a stand alone one , maybe.

The U.S. military backs the US dollar  Shocked

No it doesn't.

That's the funniest thing i've read on this thread for a long time.
What's backing the usd ? the economy? =)))))))))))))))))

There is nothing backing the USD.  It's only backed with the full faith and credit of the US Government.  That's why a dollar in 1970 bought 200 times what it will buy now, and why our economy is tanking.

how do you know that?  Huh

It's called research....and I am retired US Army.

Yeah , everybody is having full faith in the us government. Get real.  It's those carriers and nuclear missiles that keep the creditors away. Faith in who ? Mugamba?

Why  isn't the dev trying to add it on cryptorush ...

How do you know he is not trying

cryptorush just needs .25BTC thats why we know why he isnot trying

Then how about you do this..or do some fundraising for it?
If it's "just" 0.25 BTC.

Mined for 10 hours. ZERO BLOCK Sad.

Keep trying man i've been at it for 30+ hours with 10 h/m and haven't hit a block.  Cant wait for the sweet day that i do Tongue

That's some bad luck you have there.

I'm sure it's just variance.  I plan on mining this for a couple of weeks at least so I'm sure I'll see better days.

At least it's not as hard as riecoin...

I don't like this kind of mining. I prefer a net income rather than hoping to hit the jackpot.

What cpu(s) are you mining with?

Sorry , but I won't give any details on this.
Also I'm not currently mining nrs , I am just browsing through alt coins and searching for something interesting.
