14061  Economy / Speculation / Re: What is going on at GOX! on: February 08, 2014, 03:19:27 PM
I'm almost willing to bet that Monday will come , withdraws will resume , and people panicking now will just look on how Gox trolled them again , and got their coins at half price after selling them at +20%.

If I was a Gox customer. As soon as I had a chance to get my capital out of Gox, it would be gone.

'Gox trolled them again'.

Bullshit. This is very very harmful for Gox and even if they aren't insolvent, they are still dead.

The above move , if executed correctly would really help their financial problems.
And don't call them dead yet. Bad things have a habit of not willing to die easily.

Edit:
Funny how searching for "to die" because of this idiotic plugin corrector , I run across this:
http://www.antipope.org/charlie/blog-static/2013/12/why-i-want-bitcoin-to-die-in-a.html   3rd results with my normal ip and second page with tor when searching for "to die" with google.

Can someone tell me why this coin is so valuable after 2 days? Or what purpose it serves besides making its creator rich really fast ?

The sheep effect.
14063  Economy / Speculation / Re: i put almost all my money and lost a lot on: February 08, 2014, 03:01:43 PM
Every time there is a tiny crash , some people appear out of nowhere and claim they have lost everything because of the crash , savings, wife , job , dog .
Surprisingly enough , none of them come before and said it > "I've invested all my money in BTC".

Also , seems like you lost also 90% of your posts.

Unclear to me when this "open ponzi" is (officially) going to collapse or end.
Or the "official" goal is to never end, simply dilating more and more the payouts?

Anyway I see no reason to play this instead of coinbomb...

give it a few days. Smiley
Or when somebody will be stupid enough to send enough btc to make the owner happy and close the shop.

14067  Economy / Economics / Re: Harvard Economist says your money isnt safe in the bank, withdraws $1 Million on: February 08, 2014, 02:40:49 PM

Why is he not receiving any interest on that? And not sure putting all or a lot of your wealth into BTC is a foolproof plan at the moment.

I dont know why.  That is a direct quote from the article, maybe you could read it and see if he elaborates on that point.

Or maybe you could just tell me and save me from reading.

Is reading that dangerous?
14068  Economy / Economics / Re: eBay UK to Allow Sale of Virtual Currency from 10th February on: February 08, 2014, 02:40:18 PM
So they can make a regular bid? Do people know where to go for the classified ads?

There is no bidding, this is simply an alternative to a gumtree / craiglist style listing where the actual transaction will take place outside ebay

Do you reckon this will be a visible way for traders to sell btc?

DO you reckon it will affect the price of btc much?

"eBay Classifieds, which lists posts throughout the site, serves as the site’s answer to Craigslist. eBay provides the free platform for local buyers and sellers to connect, but does not participate in the transactions."

And about the bitcoin price , that will probably not even move 0.1%.
14069  Economy / Economics / Re: FINANCIAL COLLAPSE FEAR MONGERING NEEDS TO STOP on: February 08, 2014, 02:30:01 PM
I look at the rate of broken families and single parent hood, aging population and low savings interest rates.
The difficulty in getting a job( Assuming baby boomers are not lying about how they walk from one job into another
at their lunch break).

That's all I need to know, that's all.

Yeah , same with people complaining about our food and how dangerous for our health junk food  is , how toxic the air is and god knows why life expectancy if growing year by year.
Also , In my country which was hit pretty hard in 2007-2010 we have the highest rate of newborns this century.

14070  Economy / Economics / Re: Zimbabwe on: February 08, 2014, 02:19:26 PM
I was think as a promotional thing maybe someone can convince Zimbabwe to peg their currency to the bitcoin.  They've got nothing to lose anyway right?  It's cheaper to wipe you A$$ with their currency than use it to buy the toilet paper to wipe with.  Since 99% of everyone in Zimbabwe don't have a computer then actually using the bit coin as a standardized currency would probably be unfeasible at the moment.

How about you check back on how things are doing in Zimbabwe ? That was 5 years ago.

14072  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are the chances BTC is replaced by something better soon? on: February 08, 2014, 02:10:35 PM
Public cryptography means that the Secret Government have the decryption algorithms and the agents involved may do whatever they want with currency based on their ciphers. Remember that they only published (intentionally) methods to encrypt the information. They also have the reverse algorithms to decrypt any bitcoin wallet (or other cryptocurrency based on open standards).
That's why the people may want to switch to private cryptography. How the people will manage the secrecy of new private ciphers from the Secret Government that's the future debate.

No it doesn't matter that at all.
14073  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Florida men arrested for trading bitcoins!!!! on: February 08, 2014, 01:52:59 PM
Another misleading title , people really need to spread FUD all day?
They we're arrested fro trading bitcoins for stolen credit cards.

Bring up this title when two people  will get arrested for trading a teddy bear (not live one , plush , and not stolen , and not full of drugs) for bitcoins.

Can you fcking read mate?

Also whats you're writing up there?

Start of the article :
"State authorities in Florida on Thursday announced criminal charges targeting three men who allegedly ran illegal businesses moving large amounts of cash in and out of the Bitcoin virtual currency."

I misread the part about the cc , skipped over the fact that the agent was the one telling about the cc.

Anyhow :

" Espinoza is charged with felony violations of Florida’s law against unlicensed money transmitters – which prohibits “currency or payment instruments exceeding $300 but less than $20,000 in any 12-month period” — and Florida’s anti-money laundering statutes, which prohibit the trade or business in currency of more than $10,000."

No bitcoin mentioned there. The problem lies with the amount of usd not bitcoin.
14074  Economy / Digital goods / Re: BitcoinWallet.com - SOLD for $250,000 on: February 08, 2014, 01:13:12 PM
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=453480.new#new

Over 800 premium Bitcoin names. For serious buyers only.
This is pretty ridiculous.

A parameter when submitting offers: there is nothing for sale under $4,000. Some names have a much higher price.

^ This is even more ridiculous for domains generated via bots.

14075  Economy / Digital goods / Re: BitcoinWallet.com - SOLD for $250,000 on: February 08, 2014, 01:08:50 PM
I would pay probably 250 000 for a wallet with 1000BTC in it.
But for a wallet that exists only as a name Smiley))  , no.

Plus , those kind of names don't usually mean success.
Google has no search in it , Amazon no shop , MTgox  no btc and no trade.
14076  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are the chances BTC is replaced by something better soon? on: February 08, 2014, 01:05:40 PM
I'm more worried about VTC (VertCoin) replacing LTC... because I have a pretty high stake in LTC.

You sound more like a VTC owner than a ltc investor.
14077  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are the chances BTC is replaced by something better soon? on: February 08, 2014, 01:03:31 PM
The purpose of bitcoin is to create cashless society or at least to prepare the people to accept electronic money in everyday business. If those who created it are in success then they will completely remove cash from circulation. And that will have very bad effects for us all.
The bitcoin or other "cryptocurrency" is based on open standard cryptography to which reverse algorithms are known.
So what may replace this cryptocurrency is a new cryptocurrency with private cryptography. But again the new algorithms will be known to someone at least to those who created them. So the reverse decryption scheme will be also present. This new cryptocurrency will also be decryptable and as much open to abuse.
However stress the fact that the creators of the bitcoin will not crash the market all together. Because they don't want that. They want control. They want new control better than what they already have with Central Banks.

That is not so simple:) They can replace everything even in bitcoin , it doesn't mean people will follow their chain.

Why would people switch to a private owned and issued crypto altogether?
14078  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MAX] MaxCoin - Alive and Kickin' on: February 08, 2014, 12:57:45 PM
fuckin shitcoin i will never buy a single one
This coin is a total failure:

  • developers never heard about testnet, and launched coin in real net
  • released untested binaries, that simply don't run, because developers haven't ever heard about static linking
  • they don't know how to make releases using github release system, and just push zipped binaries
  • they don't know how to prepare source code for compilation, and then push unprepared code to repository (figuring out how to compile that code took me about 15-30 minutes, and I'm one of those "skilled nerds")
  • think about all other people who wanted to participate in launch, and don't know how to compile code
  • official pool "max.rocketpool.co.uk" is stealing maxcoins http://www.reddit.com/r/maxcoinproject/comments/1xcfu2/maxrocketpoolcouk_are_currently_thieves/
  • the only pool that really worked (for me at least) was max.1gh.com until it was DDoSed to oblivion, and official twitter response: https://twitter.com/maxcoinproject/status/431571916764483585  - that it is a scam. You call that a good communitation between developers upon launch??
  • how hard would it be for maxcoin to reach out for people who wish to cooperate before launch. But no - it is better to find out live, who is interested in creating pools.
  • majority of miners are botnet owners right now, I don't want to see the crash when they decide to cash out. I will not be here anyway.

I'm out. If I ever see any article about maxcoin in any major outlet, my response will be exactly what they deserved.

You can quote this whole post on every new page in this thread, and give an address. I will send you 1 MAX to first person on every new page that quotes this. But what's the point, these MAX are worthless anyway. I have about 50 MAX to spend on that.

EDIT: I don't attribute to malice that which can be equally well explained by stupidity. But effect is the same: maxcoin is a failure due to incompetence, not due to malice.

Quoted for fun. If you really want to get rid of a maxcoin send it to mfuckyoumaxkeiserandyourscam or whatever it fits so it stays there in their blockchain forevver.
