Horray to BitInstant! Thanks for this update
We are actually just doing system maintenance and preparing to relaunch on Monday.   Cool
1344  Economy / Auctions / Re: [WTS] Gaming Website Community and Media Source - 30k-50k/month hits! on: June 08, 2013, 04:40:34 AM
I have to put a reserve on this auction. If you want to find out what it takes to buy it now then message me. However, I will not sell this site unless I am satisfied with the price/reserve that was in the bid. Also, must make sure I know what your plans are with the brand/business after you buy it. I was a community developer for the official mod, and I am looking for the right buyer (not only here) but outside this forum.

There is only few specific buyers for this business, and the business carries a reputation in the market place, that cannot be replaced or sold. That is why we must reserve it with the right "buy price" agreed by me "the seller".  If the auction or buy now is right, I reserve the right to move forward and sell it to that party, and list this as SOLD and no longer available for sale.

Thank you.
1345  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin Buzz Feeds (Android App) on: June 07, 2013, 09:18:04 PM
There is still tweet feeds? I have disabled it for the recent update. Can you check it out and get back to me on that? It seems disabled for me. When is the last time you had updated it? and when did you install it (estimated day)?

Is there a way to turn off the tweet feeds?
1346  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Databases for Large Websites on: June 07, 2013, 08:45:26 PM
PHP Sites = MYSQL
I haven't touched Mongo as of yet.

Anything with MYSQL should be fine as a stable database for a bitcoin website.

I'm building a bitcoin website, and have been using bitcoind for database requests which has been fairly slow. We'll only really be looking at history, and not managing any wallet based functions. I'm considering switching to either SQL or Mongo for longer-term use, does anyone have experience using either for bitcoin sites? What database structure do some of the larger sites like blockchain.info use?

Thanks for your help.
1347  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you protect your savings wallet? on: June 07, 2013, 08:38:50 PM
I agree. I wouldn't use it. Are you talking about protecting your savings wallet on your computer.. just in case for future problems/events of some sort? how to protect from someone hacking/cracking your wallet?

Oh my please don't follow the guide in that thread above. The author talks about emailing private keys! That is very insecure! The info there is obsolete as well.
1348  Economy / Auctions / Re: [WTS] Gaming Website Community and Media Source - 30k-50k/month hits! on: June 07, 2013, 08:34:29 PM
How can you make money with it?
  • Start a premium membership solution for current users
  • Sell T-Shirts and offer it for the traffic/send emails
  • Generate Commissions for Games or Products (Amazon, GameFanShop, etc.)
  • Generate Revenue from Ads (Pay per leads) or (Pay Per Click) or (Pay Per Impression)

The abilities is endless. The official Standalone game is expected to launch. The current amount of gamers for the Mod alone is about 1.5+ million unique players. The Standalone will have much more than that. You can start building content for it early on, and generate a list of buyers ahead of time for Standalone.

Ask me anything, I am here to help.
1349  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Building the Next Generation of Crypto-Currency (developers required) on: June 07, 2013, 07:49:26 PM
Is this your Github? Can I fork off of it to improve some functions and help out?
Speaking of java. There is fairly complete(?) implementation of bitcoin in java:
https://github.com/bitsofproof/supernode
It is already fairly tested and under active developement.

I didn't look into it yet, but I guess it is well structured and would me easier to modify than satoshi client.

Great recommendations BitcoinAshley. I have to concur with the following quote.

I am also a C++/C# and Web/Database Developer.. Oracle, Java, JavaScript, SQL, etc..

What area do you need others involved in and how many do you have on-board now?

Great proposal, I will donate to the bounty.

-Including a zerocoin-esque feature would be great, even if it's just what aaaxn described above.
-Including certain features commonly requested in BTC would be great. Throwing Coin Control into the GUI, perhaps M of N support, etc.
-Heck, going the extra mile and throwing in cold wallet support in the GUI (like Armory) would give people even MORE reason to celebrate an alt-coin that is NOT just a copy-pasta with a couple minor changes.

I realize it's quite the laundry list, and all you really want to to is try out this new blockchain idea, which is a great idea, but also think of the potential success of an cryptocoin that really "Gets it right" - not just with one major innovation, but that major innovation with a few key features that folks are really looking for.

If you release a copy of the bitcoin-qt/litecoin-qt client with the only change being the smaller blockchain... well, it'll be simple, but it won't stand out quite as much as if you spend some time putting in some great features that people have been asking for in BTC for a while.

The problem with alt-coins is not just that they are copypasta of the bitcoin concept, but also that they are copypasta of the CODE, complete with spaghettification and ugly external dependencies and magic numbers. Many people have called for completely reconfiguring it to comply with good coding practices, and reduce the risk of nasty bugs that might show up later on. I know this is not your intention, to change too much at once, but anything you can do to this effect would be welcomed by the alt-coin community who, after FTC and CNC, have had it up to here with pointless copypasta introduced entirely for speculation. I think if I run another ______-qt executable that shows the same flash screen, same GUI, with no new features... I will facepalm. Grin A major back-end change like what you've proposed with the blockchain almost makes it forgivable. Grin

1353  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin Advertising Network on: June 06, 2013, 06:12:08 AM
I actually would be interested in this.. I would need more of a stake due to my existing resources and connections.

Are you thinking of something along the line of CPC? CPL? or both? Publishers/Advertisers? or advertising services for third parties like Google AdWords, Microsoft Search Network?
1354  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Earn BTC? on: June 06, 2013, 06:08:14 AM

1356  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Let's Build a Town, Bitcoin Town on: June 06, 2013, 12:53:54 AM
I like the concept but how can this be trusted? what about security features and anti-theft? computers/laptops/hardware could easily be stolen by undercovers, right?

This is a review of the Bitcoin Buzz Feeds Android App that released not too long ago.

I am looking this app because it offers diverse info about bitcoin. Not only is it news generated info, but it gives me access to all sorts of helpful resources at the palm of my hands. I think this app has a lot of potential.  It is kind of annoying with Notifications, other than that, it is a good app.
