1061  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Primecoin Buzz - First Android App for Primecoin ! on: July 09, 2013, 07:34:07 PM
*** ANNOUNCEMENT *** JUST EDITED (07/12/2013)
Community Updates Request! Let's work together with 'BOOKMARKS'

So here is what I suggest: (Community Input)
Think of this as a 'BOOKMARK' app... which sites would you add to your bookmarks list?

Let's start with some websites and resources you want to see inside the app.

  • Charts? if so, which XPM/Primecoin Reporting sites?
  • Exchange/Buy/Sell ? if so, which Reporting sites?
  • Any threads that have been helpful for you? and you want easy, mobile access to it?

The next version will be about Features and other additions..
for now, let's keep it strictly websites/urls/helpful resources.

So tell me, which sites would you like to see bookmarked into the Mobile App?

Here's a diff/patch I made off a freash git clone with the changes mentioned and some makefile changes I used.
Thanks! Works great. I left my max sieve size at 1000000u but otherwise applied what you had. Now to do some testing...

Does it even help for sure? what does maxsieve size do?

After my initial luck finding 7 blocks, I've got nothing in the last 16 hours.

i7-3770K stock settings, 8 cores, 160-200 PPS while I'm using the PC for browsing.

Sunny King: how's this going so far from your point of view?

Dude especially if your using ur I7 to multitask.. use "true 4"   my 3770k is @ true 4 and check it.. since the day of release here's what i got's!

somebody wanted proof of a transaction? i was on the phone with them.. they got it literally in a few seconds

Nice stats!

@TheSpiral

wow. I forgot.. I am not pool mining. Duh!

Thanks for the help. Also, where is the conf file at?

and if you don't mind sharing... what is your CPU & current setgenerate -X at?
Looks like you're on Windows 7. Easiest way to get to where the conf is is just by typing this in your explorer address bar: %appdata%/Primecoin
It probably won't be there, just make a new blank file and call it primecoin.conf (right click > New > Text Document)
I don't use setgenerate, I just put gen=1 in the conf, similar effect, just don't have to type anything when you start the client.

Final primecoin.conf file will look something like:
Code:
rpcuser=x
rpcpassword=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
gen=1
server=1
daemon=1

Obviously, change user/pass to your liking.

Awesome! Thanks for that. This is exactly what I was looking for. Bam!

Does anyone recommend overclocking a CPU?  This is my processor: http://ark.intel.com/products/52210/Intel-Core-i5-2500K-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_70-GHz

It's currently at 3.3 GHz and the Max Turbo Frequency    3.7 GHz

Anyone recommend boosting it for the Max Turbo? and do you believe that will help?

I might be wrong, but due to variance at the moment I don't think its worth risking the CPU. Your chance will be higher, but not by much.

Also remember if you overclock and the CPU crashes you will have to restart the computer, that downtime will most likely erode all the advantage you wanted by overclocking.

My advice: wait until there is a pool where overclocking will make proper gains and you can determine the correct allowable downtime rate from crashes correctly.

Awesome feedback. I think you are right.. might even risk issues down the road, or possibly replacing the CPU.

Thanks!

Mining on i5-2500K @ 3.30GHz

Looking good Grin

Update:
Got my first block with 20.38 XPM reward!

How did you get this??? nice! I am on the same CPU but I am getting 60..

any tips on this people?
What are your settings? gen=1 in the conf?
Sometimes it takes a few minutes for the number to ramp up to a certain number, though 334 is quite a lot.... I've noticed that doesn't translate to better results, though (yet). My bad computer is finding more than double what my good computer is finding. Shouldn't worry about the number just yet.

Not sure... I will double check.

Why don't I have any addresses? do I make one up? I can't even add one.

well.. there is no way to earn bitcoins with your site and I don't see any reason to use this over imgur.

Is it even possible to earn bitcoins with imgur?

and why not support a bitcoin only image site?

and how can we make money off images being hosted?
1076  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [Exclusive] Bitcoin Image Sharing & Uploading Site with (Short URLs) on: July 09, 2013, 05:59:49 AM
You need to fix your time zone:

"Submitted 8 hours ago by Anonymous"

It's off by 8 hours.

Thanks working on those fixes.

Also, hotlinking is fine until further notice and unless bandwidth gets crazy... but I don't see a problem, we have dedi's we can bridge to support it.

Yes, they invested more than $2 million in the 'bitcoin sector' source says, "Interest in the bitcoin sector has arisen from investment funds, with recent Peter Thiel's Founders Fund investing US$3 million in the sector" via http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bitcoin

I'll give it to gweedo as we don't know which is the other one.. or if they counting OpenCoin as an investment, unless there is proof OpenCoin is identified as the 'bitcoin sector'.

http://southernalpha.com/general/atlantas-bitpay-raises-2m-from-thiels-founders-fund/

Not sure if OpenCoin should count, but FF Angel is part of Founders Fund and put money into it.   http://www.crunchbase.com/company/opencoin

Question #8 ~ COMING SOON - TAKING A BREAK BRB

Feel free to discuss any questions during the down time or find other sources.

Thanks!
1079  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [Exclusive] Bitcoin Image Sharing & Uploading Site with (Short URLs) on: July 09, 2013, 02:14:57 AM
You need a short domain for sharing!

It's pretty short - imagethe.net

photobucket is longer ~ imgur is harder to remember
1080  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [Exclusive] Bitcoin Image Sharing & Uploading Site with (Short URLs) on: July 09, 2013, 01:41:08 AM
Nice Idea I'll probably be using this in the future!

Thanks for the support.
