1301  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can you believe the bitcoin is 5 years old? on: June 13, 2013, 05:39:46 AM
I believe it.. still can't believe how bitcoin was nothing and it was turned into something.

It's not like you pick up the USD and you see it so often.. nothing special. It's been around for years and years.

Bitcoin was created out of a mining something out of nothing. If you get my drift!
1302  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: If you had a $1,000 to invest... on: June 13, 2013, 05:35:10 AM
Hands down - bitcoins!
1303  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Bitcoin mining may get easier on: June 13, 2013, 01:51:19 AM
Correct me if I am wrong: Doesn't the difficulty continue to compound (Go up in numbers)
as more miners and more people are mining? and the more easier it is for these insane hardwares to mine?

I mean.. I might be wrong, but isn't that the theory? The numbers only go up, and won't go down.

As more people get on board the Bitcoin bandwagon, it appears that mining is becoming an ever increasing endeavor.

I do need to say... Dont get rid of your mining equipment as there is something just around the corner .... and its not an alternative to Bitcoin, its just using the current system a bit different to increase mining returns and not decrease them, the closer we get to the magic 21

Sorry to be vague... all I can say, is that it will remain open source  Wink

I will be releasing more information on that part of the project along with other developments, which you can follow on my RimBit site  Shocked
1304  Economy / Marketplace / Re: BEST charting and technical analysis tool for Bitcoin (so far) launched today on: June 13, 2013, 01:03:45 AM
I've been using the site for the past day and here is my review:

You can take screenshots of charts anytime, and it will create an
instant image/url for you. No longer do you need paint. (+1 for that)

You can chat instantly with other in the Bitcoin lobby about it.

You can share your ideas and discuss them openly with others

All and all.. It is a top rated web app and exactly delivers what we need.

Hi Guys,

https://www.tradingview.com/e/?symbol=MTGOX:BTCUSD# here you will find historical and real-time Bitcoin charting. I think they added Bitcoin just today.

You can create custom tomeframes like, 7 minutes, 13 minutes, 58 minutes, etc. You can create charts using non-time based resolutions like Renko, PnF, Price Breaks and Kagi.

You can apply drawing tools, like trandlines, Ganns and Fibos. You will no longer need to do it in Paint or by applying a ruler to your monitor.

You can overlay BTCUSD with EURUSD for cross-currency analysis.

And of course you can apply many indicators. You can also calculate risk/reward ratios on the trades you want to take.

1305  Economy / Economics / Re: Price discovery on: June 13, 2013, 12:35:51 AM
+1 for a great come back. Smiley
+1 for MtGox not being the default for everything. People should be aware there are plenty of alternatives. More competition and diversity = more decentralization, which just makes sense with the Bitcoin philosophy in mind.
1306  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [announce] Namecoin - a distributed naming system based on Bitcoin on: June 13, 2013, 12:18:41 AM
I would be more than happy to help out with that, and contribute. Unfortunately, phpBB is a huge target for SEO backlinks and spam. I've studied SEO for a while, and I am totally against the (without permission) backlink submissions/spam type of SEO.

Some choose to be black hat, and some choose white hat. Most of the spam is bots, but either way..
it must be dealt with manually. I thought PHPBB had spam bot detectors to delete them now?

We currently need some people to moderate the namecoin forum, because there is too much spam and I've not the time to clean the forum regularly.
People interested can postulate here.
1307  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: MtGox: Upgraded me to Trusted in less than 24 hours! on: June 13, 2013, 12:15:59 AM
I haven't tried this yet. What's the benefit to get that going? Can you do more now with MTGOX as far as trading?

I got the Apostille notarization completed and sent the documentation out on Tuesday. MtGox received the paperwork on Thursday and I was approved overnight. It's Friday and I have achieved "Trusted" status.

It was fast and painless.

1308  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Discussing... CoinBase's Buy/Sell System on: June 13, 2013, 12:14:51 AM
We had some good discussions here. Let's keep it going.

What are some other thoughts about using CoinBase?
1309  Economy / Auctions / Re: [WTS] Bitcoin Web Hosting Site For Auction on: June 12, 2013, 11:03:24 PM
That makes sense. This is why I wrote in the thread: pre-designed/pre-developed.
I didn't state It was a unique design or a unique one of my own.

Quote
The buyer will remain anonymous of purchase (decision is yours). No details will be listed about who bought the site and for how much.

I wrote that right AFTER the thread was launched. There is a reason for it. It hurts the value of the company or business or whatever it turns into (in the future).

Selling sites/domains on a forum is very tricky compared to private sale. I'm was more than up front about everything and anything I do. The point I am making is.. There is only so much to be said about it. Buying a site/domain is like buying a home/business. Once an agreement is made, an inspector begins his job by inspecting the home or property to make sure all is good with the property/home.

The same thing with this: I show you reports and information about it on the backend (IN PRIVATE) before we even get any transfers.
Remember: I wouldn't expect anyone to make this transaction without knowing what you are paying for (as you can see in the content I wrote). All final details is discussed via private message. Same thing with the domain name being listed on any forums. You don't want your customers finding out how much you paid, would you?

I hear where you guys are coming from. I'll work on improving for the next one.
1310  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Please dont let bitcoinstore fail, your action is needed just about now. on: June 12, 2013, 10:44:56 PM
Same here. Is it working for anyone else?
1311  Economy / Auctions / Re: [WTS] Bitcoin Web Hosting Site For Auction on: June 12, 2013, 09:52:32 PM
Cancel Accepted. That's fine. The idea isn't selling a design or domain or both.

I have been involved in the hosting business since 2002.
The point isn't that you are buying a website/domain only.

The concept was a bit more than that. I'm not selling this to buy me
out, I'm going to guideline you with my connections to the industry.

And remember, you don't need a fancy design to make money.
I would take someone who is eager to work, and startup a company
to the next level.. That's only if you network with me to grow

I'll start, 1 btc

I cancel my bid. Did not see the posts above showing OP just bought a wordpress theme. Although I understand he's also providing a service, it leaves a sour taste in my mouth that he did not disclose who made the design. Had you designed the website yourself I would have been happy to pay much more.
1312  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Discussing... CoinBase's Buy/Sell System on: June 12, 2013, 09:33:28 PM
Yeah, it could be that. so that way they don't have people buying/selling instantly for a profit, right?

Does anyone know why there is a GAP between the two prices on CoinBase?  (BUY VS. SELL)

Hmmm, guessing the difference between buying from the first sell order compared to selling to the first buy order?

Ahh perfect. That's what I figured. I need to get with USAA because it seems like the benefits outweighs the regular banks like BOFA/WELLS/ETC..

What about Credit Unions? Does anyone use multiple credit union checking accounts for it?

That's great. I am familiar with people who use USAA. It's restricted for the military or any special services for the USA, right?
or can the general public join them? I like your concept because of many trust factors.
Their banking services are available to everyone. It's only the insurance products and possibly loans which are restricted.

My bank (USAA) allows me to easily create as many checking accounts as I want so I made a special one just for services like Dwolla, Coinbase and PayPal so that they would not have access to my primary account.
1316  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Discussing... CoinBase's Buy/Sell System on: June 12, 2013, 07:40:44 PM
That's awesome. 5 Days isn't bad, but I wonder if there is a faster way to receive and sell. I wonder why it takes long for the entire transaction of receiving them.

I've had a great experience with Coinbase so far as well.

As to your question: Coinbase transactions record the price when you made the transaction.  If I buy a coin today at $108 the amount is deducted immediately/soon and then usually receive the coin in around 5 days, regardless of what the price is at that future point.
1317  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Discussing... CoinBase's Buy/Sell System on: June 12, 2013, 06:53:34 PM
Awesome. So using CoinBase is a good way to go? and what about selling it at a price,
and the price goes up or down... what does CoinBase base the transaction on?

For Example: if you sell the 1/BTC at $100 - then 10 minutes later, it goes to $105,
but the transaction hasn't hit your account yet. Do you get $105 or $100?

I would assume $100 because it was during that exchange time.

Yes definitely, and for a time I was doing $5,000 worth of transactions PER DAY.

You are covered if they tried to take more than authorized out of your bank account. It's not like bitcoin, ACH transactions can be reversed.
1318  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: CoinURL.com Down? on: June 12, 2013, 06:29:34 PM
Yes, I am having the same problem.

gweedo: it seems a bit lagged out. I just encountered the same issue as BitcoinBarrel
1319  Economy / Service Discussion / Discussing... CoinBase's Buy/Sell System on: June 12, 2013, 06:27:11 PM
I'll start: This is for experienced traders... Your opinion is wanted.
Do you trust linking a Bank Account to the Bitcoin Ecosystem with CoinBase?

Imagine if you were doing $5,000 worth of transactions every 2 weeks, or maybe you currently are, who knows
And you are withdrawing increments of $5,000 to your Bank account.  Would you use CoinBase to do this with?

And would you trust it going to your bank account in such large amounts?
