Sorry Vandroiy, I misunderstood. I thought you were telling me I couldn't play the spikes because of the maxed out leverage

My point was that people shouldn't jump into the market right now because it is probably going to crash. It sounds like you're saying the same thing.

Lol,

Yes, because the market ALWAYS crashes when bitcoin is exposed to millions of people..  Roll Eyes

It crashed hard in june 2011, really hard..

I also contacted Etsy.com, here's their email response:

Thank you for writing, as well as for your idea for improving Etsy!

We do realize that many of our members would prefer to submit electronic payments on Etsy without the use of a third party processing service, such as PayPal, and we are currently taking that into consideration. While I can't really tell you when or if such a feature would be put into effect, I can assure you that it's not something we've forgotten. I will definitely pass along your link to our engineers!

Thank you so much again for your suggestion! We really do take member feedback into account when making changes to the site, so it's always nice when someone writes in with ideas. Smiley

Let me know if you have any further questions or concerns, and have a nice day!

Good call... Smiley

FWIW..

After the show, several friends of mine on facebook contacted me about bitcoin, as I post bitcoin related stuff from time to time.
All of them what to know everything about it, how to get it, how to mine it, where to use it, and so forth.

These friends of mine all heard the word "bitcoin" before, but only took action to find more about it AFTER the show..

Like someone posted earlier, Its now "real" to them...

Food for thought.. Smiley

1368  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] LIF.A, LIF.B, LIF.CX, and LIF.M on: January 17, 2012, 03:02:47 AM
I'll wait for the announcement

It is basically already announced, I don't think his idea of "protecting" anyone worked out too well by making a vague, yet negative announcement.  I lost 10 BTC just in buying shares because I had bids up when he released that motion.  Unfortunately 10 btc is a drop in the bucket.. compared to the slaughter I will take on these "solid investments in bitcoin".  If you make an announcement, about a pending announcement, I think you are supposed to leave it up to imagination, ie: leave room for speculation and let natural market forces work their magic.  Announcing a negative news is forthcoming just screwed anyone who was in the market without giving them any chance at all to react and make their decision..  I mean of course rumours can slip out and things of that nature, but this is right from the horses mouth.  I am extremely disapointed.

I genuinely hope there is something I am missing here, and I have mis-understood Peters actions.

The announcement coupled with the LIF funds website being down is a bad situation...  Sad
1369  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 1000 BTC gold bar on: January 17, 2012, 12:57:54 AM
you should've made it with 10x the gold of the 100BTC bar.

It has an appeal for being cheap: it's a plausible way for someone to buy 1000 BTC for credit card but still be buying a tangible good, for the lowest possible premium.

Increasing the gold content would drive up the price.

I am getting more inquiries about the 1000 BTC gold coin idea.  I discussed it with the factory who did my silver coins.  I might seriously be able to do it for $200 over spot price (of both BTC and gold), on a fully-refundable-deposit pre-order basis.  It costs a lot to do a small run of custom gold coins, but at that price, it's also not ridiculous given the total price of the item.

You need to make it stackable. That would be awesome.

Its a flat rectangle, what part of it isnt stackable ?

WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1372  Economy / Speculation / Re: gentleman in the last days how many btc we got on long in bitcoinica ? 30k?35k? on: January 16, 2012, 05:09:36 PM
It's total positions. AFAIK, a lot of traders have their liquidating price below $4, or even $3, which is quite safe. The gain is much less than the loss.

If Bitcoinica's financial model is flawed, it would have been abused already. We have seen so many squeezes and none of them really affects Bitcoinica much.

The advice you gave last time was completely opposite:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=55938.msg665536#msg665536

This time:
-Bitcoinica has been updated to allow people who are shorting to close their position (which means shorting is far less risky)
-the "no reserve" problem is likely to continue since so many people are trying to buy
-the "no reserve" problem has been going on for much longer (2 days instead of a few hours)

This situation is much worse this time and you have the opposite opinion.

Why?

His opinion is PURELY based on his position.. obviously short right now... lmao

SPAM SPAM SPAM is his game..
1373  Economy / Speculation / Re: look at the asterisk on: January 16, 2012, 05:04:52 PM

Its almost like Notme is trying to explain something..

1374  Economy / Speculation / Re: Amazon will be accepting bitcoin on: January 16, 2012, 05:01:33 PM
Um, no.  A support-staff didn't know what she was talking about and said whatever she needed to say to appease the customer.

Agreed...
