Hey everyone, been trying to set up my rig to mine this coin, but I have a few issues that I lack the expertise to solve. My mining rig is behind a firewall, a firewall that is quite robust and pretty much only allows my miners to connect over port 80 to anything mining related. Now as far as I can tell for you to properly solo mine spreadcoin you need to have the wallet software linked to the miner using the spreadcoin.conf? Is this correct? Do I need to have the wallet software running on the same computer that the mining rig is on or can the mining rig connect to my wallet software on my home PC and run like that? It just feels like I'm missing something simple to get my mining going... The wallet software on the mining cannot download the blockchain or CPU since the firewall connection clearly does not allow the wallet to download. Anybody have any tips getting the wallet to download the blockchain over port 80?  I think I've managed to set this up on my home computert since I set up the spreadcoin.config(with private key) and have managed to mine, but after 24 hours either I didn't set it up properly or I just did not find any blocks. I put in these settings as well as my privkey. rpcallowip=127.0.0.1 rpcport=80 rpcthreads=15 daemon=1 server=1 listen=1 did you name the spreadcoin config file "spreadcoin.conf"? It is normal to not find any blocks after 24 hours. How many kh/s do you get? Are you trying to mine at work or something? Because when this was cpu only I tried to mine at school but I couldn't connect to anyone. Also, you should have rpcallowip=<the mining rig ip> if the rig is on a different computer. Hey. No, I just named it spreadcoin. Yeah, have my setup in my office. I also cannot mine with the wallet software on that network. Ok, first, press the windows key + R In the window that came up type "control folders" (without the "") and press enter. In the view tab make sure "Hide extensions for known file types" it unticked and then press ok. Ok now navigate to you spreadcoin folder (%appdata%/Spreadcoin) Now make sure to name the config file "spreadcoin.conf". And make sure it doesn't have .txt on the end. If it does, just rename it without it. So are you saying my primary wallet software(on my home PC) should have the mining rigs IP and not the standard 127.0.0.1? Yeah, because I assume rpcallowip means "Only allow this IP to connect to the wallet" so at your office, go to http://www.whatsmyip.org/ to find the ip of your office and at home replace 127.0.0.1 with that ip. Once you go back to work go back to http://www.whatsmyip.org/ to check if the IP changed. If it didn't then you are good to go. (hopefully) |

Should I make Spreadcoin shatter as well so they both mix together?
Not sure... can you do a melting effect in blender? Not sure. I'm pretty new with it but I'll look into it tomorrow. I'm sure there's a way. |

Hey guys, here is a super low quality render of a thing I was working on today. Tomorrow I'll make a high quality version and a .gif. This actually took 5 hours to make, 2 hours to model the logos and figure out the best colour settings and 3 hours to render it and find some avi to gif software. I couldn't find any that would keep the quality the same so tomorrow I will render an HD version so that when it converts to a .gif the quality isn't as bad. Please donate if you liked it and can spare a few sprs. http://youtu.be/3vjWJV6zULUAt first I was going to make Spreadcoin shatter to show that it is more decentralised and spread around better than darkcoin but then it would look like DarkCoin is defeating Spreadcoin. So I decided to do the opposite. I probably could have modeled the Darkcoin and Spreadcoin logos faster and better if I used Autodesk Inventor but I totally forgot I had it.  Maybe next time. Spread and Darkcoin should be working together to break out of the tiny little cryptognat scene and get some real world adoption, not fighting.  Should I make Spreadcoin shatter as well so they both mix together? |

Everything is fine, spreadcointalk.org, .com and .net were registered by georgem. Great! Well, I changed the theme so that people know they aren't on Bitcointalk.org. At first I didn't like myfarms proposal of a masternode ranking algorithm that took into account ISP instead of just number of SPR. But after reading this, i'm liking the idea more -- 16% give or take.
The trouble with a ranking algo is that it will almost certainly be possible to game it, and it's going to be difficult to come up with a 'fair' set of conditions and weightings. Far simpler and less overhead to just limit the number of Masternodes on any given IP subnet. if (adding this MN exceeds the max allowed 5% on this subnet):
display error: "There are too many Masternodes on <name of provider>, please choose another provider for the security of the network."

edit: it would be really nice to also have a Masternodes tab in the wallet, displaying MN count and distribution. (hint hint gjhiggins - you seem pretty nifty with c++/QT. ) That'd be really cool. I totally would like to see that implemented into the wallet. |

So other than the cool mining do we have any amazing real world uses for SpreadCoin like we do with VIORcoin for example with their video chat wallet and gateway for international calls through the wallet addresses?
This is just a stupid gimmick. "Real world use" lol we have Skype for that, and with skype you can actually search for your friends name instead of their address which they would need to have told you.

Anyway if I give you my code, which is easily copy and pasted on a smartphone or pc then you used it to call my phone for cheaper than Skype, Viber, etc. and I don't need to publicize my phone number, that's a winning combination. Copying and pasting is the problem. As I stated above. |

I think giving up more then 5% of the block reward to the "foundation" is way too much. I would definately support 1%
How about 0%, because everything else goes against decentralization? Is it just that you guys don't understand decentralization, or that you don't particularly like it? Or don't see any value in it? Listen, it's not negotiable! Throwing our principles out of the window at the first opportunity or what? Does bitcoin discuss about those "foundation block rewards" ?
