Oh yeah um, the official announcement with pictures and real-world performance stats.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5355470.0

Hey there, pod miner originally alluded to in this thread's start is still in the works or was the project substituted by Ferrari / Compac F?

Going by history, sidehack will usually iron out the bugs/production process on the USB sticks first before moving onto the more expensive to manufacture pods.

All the original Batch 2 orders are out, only ones left are the later ones ordered end of June, those always had an august ship date. All orders should be out by end of the week/early next.

Hiya, have the Batch 2 orders been shipped to Bitshopper yet?

Don't worry bitshopper got back to me, if anyone is interested fedex estimate for delivery to them is 2nd September, shipping orders will commence immediately after that date.

That's perfectly fine, using a 600W bequiet PSU here. (A PSU's efficiency sweet spot is around 50-60%, so consider that for your choice)

Maybe if you buy a 50% efficiency PSU in 1970  Grin

It is true that PSU's are most efficient at 50% load, but the variation is only 2-3% so you won't even notice it.

Most PSU's are rated at 80+ efficiency which means that a power supply is at least 80% efficient at 20%, 50%, and 100% loads.

Yes there are different 80+ ratings (bronze, silver, gold, platinum titanium) but they are just variations on the theme.

Code:
Power Delivery 115 V internal non-redundant	230 V EU internal non-redundant
Percentage of rated load 10% 20% 50% 100% 10% 20% 50% 100%
80 Plus 80% 80% 80% 82% 85% 82%
80 Plus Bronze 82% 85% 82% 85% 88% 85%
80 Plus Silver 85% 88% 85% 87% 90% 87%
80 Plus Gold 87% 90% 87% 90% 92% 89%
80 Plus Platinum 90% 92% 89% 92% 94% 90%
80 Plus Titanium 90% 92% 94% 90% 90% 94% 96% 94%

146  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: innosilicon? - has anyone bought direct from them?? on: August 18, 2021, 05:27:19 PM
I just received my T3 from the $2450 batch today. I have 2 T2s running. They are good miners.

The reason I came onto this board I am having a problem with the T3 and was hoping someone could help me find a solution.

The pool settings will not update. No matter what I try they won't update to my data. It goes back to the default settings which is directed at a poolin account. I did a master reset, nothing. I downloaded the newest firmware from their site, installed it. Same result.

I don't understand, it's like someone wrote their own program and it won't change. Has anyone experienced this or know what to do?

This batch is refurbished. I have experience with asics.

Any suggestions?

I don't have any T3's to check anymore but I think, that some T3's had a SD card slot, perhaps something installed in there is resetting your miner.

Or it might have a virus.
147  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: innosilicon? - has anyone bought direct from them?? on: August 17, 2021, 06:05:38 PM
Bought from them in the past no issues. Current stock is pretty inefficient, but they are legit
148  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Solo mining using Bitcoin Core wallet on: July 19, 2021, 12:52:51 PM
Why it is not allowed any longer to solo mine directly using Bitcoin Core wallet?
Solo-mining is always allowed by Bitcoin Core. It'd be ironic if the official release of a Bitcoin client didn't have a solo-mining option.

Open your Bitcoin Core console and type “generatetoaddress <nblocks> <address> <maxtries>”.

Example:
Code:
generatetoaddress 1 tb1qm87j39792m2afwduss7hfwqg3xxrrz2tz8yxrw 2000000000

You won't be able to solve a block, because the difficulty is incredibly high for an average solo-miner. Try creating your own hard fork of Bitcoin and then use that for solo-mining, just to see that you're allowed to do that.

generatetoaddress can only be used on regtest which is for local testing, coins generated using generatetoaddress are worthless.  The mining functionality was removed from bitcoin core in version 0.13
149  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Where can I buy miners? on: June 26, 2021, 12:08:02 AM
It doesn't save you anything to buy from a reseller in the EU, they have to pay the VAT and customs when they bring the goods in, so they are just going to pass the cost on to the you with extra.

Global Suspension Announcement of Antminer Spot Sales

https://blog.bitmain.com/en/global-suspension-announcement-of-antminer-spot-sales/

Quote
Dear Valued Antminer Users,

In recent times, Chinese customers have been reselling miners to withdraw funds or reduce the time that their mining hardware remains in China. However, the setup of mining farms does not happen overnight, and the second-hand market is under pressure. To assist the industry towards a smooth transition, Antminer has temporarily decided to suspend global spot sales.

Kindly note that customers who have already placed previous orders will not be affected. Bitmain will continue to sell futures orders from September onwards. The suspension of spot sales shall be from June to August.

At the start of the year, the market demand of miners was high, and supply was low. Thanks to Bitmain’s R&D and supply chain teams’ efforts, Antminer has achieved the increased production capacity for the future.

Faced with the difficulties during the pandemic, Bitmain employees have risen to the recent challenge and urgently traveled overseas to the US, Canada, Australia, Russia, Belarus, Sweden, Norway, Kazakhstan, Angola, Congo, Indonesia, and other countries to help customers source high-quality power resources for the industry.

The development of Bitmain is inseparable from the support of its customers. Bitmain adheres to the values of “long-term, loyal, and a win-win” while striving to cope with the industry changes, together with our partners.

Interesting read about what a real CE (European Conformity) mark is and what a "Chinese Export" (CE) mark is.

152  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: I had a question about Miner Admission? on: June 15, 2021, 04:39:54 PM
Hello. I'm looking for answers to a few questions to use in an academic study. Thank you all in advance.

  • What kind of system is used to vote for miners soft fork acceptance?
  • Who initiates the voting, asks questions to the miners and waits for an answer of acceptance or rejection?
  • How does this vote come to miners, how do they see it, and how can they vote to accept or reject?
  • In short, if you have any information about how the processes related to this miner voting are, I would like to learn superficially.

Sorry, my english is not very good  Sad

Good enough to get on the internet and find this forum, so maybe good enough to do a simple web search and find:

153  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Need feedback on S17 Pro 53Th... on: June 03, 2021, 08:46:30 AM
S17-Pro is probably the most reliable of the *17 range of miners from Bitmain.

Able to be speed adjusted depending on your requirements.
154  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: KanoPool 0.9% fee 🐈 since 2014 - Solo 0.5% fee - Worldwide - 2432 blocks on: May 31, 2021, 01:32:07 PM
thats so bad

the site must report accurate information no matter if they like the link or not

the pool is there but says API error and with number lower number when should be near 29

The stupid thing is, if you click on the link that says the API is missing, it takes you to the API page with the actual data on it they need.

I wonder if they are just hitting it too often, do you have a rate limit on that page kano?
155  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Where to fix your Asic miners. on: May 17, 2021, 02:55:44 PM
I'm starting the process to send some broken boards from 17 series miners to a repair place in Canada, I'll keep you posted how it goes.

I'm looking for somewhere in Canada as well.  Can you send me details of who you are using and any info on how it's going?

Still waiting to send stuff off, am reluctant to recommend unless I have direct experience.
156  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: How often does a solo miner solve a block on: May 11, 2021, 07:46:11 AM
Code:
tb@ubuntu:~/bitcoin-0.21.0/bin$ ./bitcoin-cli -netinfo
Bitcoin Core v0.21.0 - 70016/Satoshi:0.21.0/

        ipv4    ipv6   onion   total  block-relay
in        73       0       0      73       9
out       10       0       0      10       2
total     83       0       0      83      11

Local addresses: n/a

What does block-relay mean in this context?

How many transactions/blocks you have relayed to or have been relayed by other clients.

158  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: $100 billion to be invested to increase chip fabrication capacity! on: May 06, 2021, 02:09:53 AM

From the article:

Quote
60% of sales from the U.S. and about 20% from mainland China
That does not ring true just to the massive amount of manufacturing going on in China vs. the US.
If they said "60% of sales from U.S. companies" that I would believe.

Could just be my view, but I don't see us here in the US making products here using 60% of TSMCs capacity.

I dunno, most of the companies listed here seem to be US based:

159  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Where to find New Custom Mining Rigs?? on: April 30, 2021, 02:47:32 PM
As far as third party online stores go, the only one I have used that I can confirm has actually delivered miners is https://www.eastshore.xyz/

You won't pay bitmain prices, but you will pay a small premium over what whatsminer and Canaan charge for theirs.

Speaking of which, Canaan have stock at blokforge.com
