141  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: HELP - My Antminer S2 has a faulty ASIC, can i just remove the faulty card ? on: March 30, 2015, 01:15:54 AM
Yes yank that card and it should hash like normal. I would recommend that you find the card and swap it into a different slot. Make sure it is not a bad slot on the motherboard causing the issue. If the card still tosses X's at you then just pitch it.
142  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: BFL Monarch issues on: March 30, 2015, 01:13:35 AM
I would recommend finding the user Lightfoot on these boards. He knows these cards very well (has repaired many). Butterfly Labs shipped so few that most miners do not or have not ever seen 1.

Whatever you decide avoid cloud mining at all costs. You can find some cheaper "fun" miners on Amazon such as the U3 for low prices and should not slow your pc down at all.

Well it isn't much, but my 6 new S5s will be coming online in the next couple of days.

146  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Buying - iTunes Code/Codes upto $100 on: March 26, 2015, 10:26:54 PM
Last bump before I give up and just use Gyft.com. Not looking for a crazy discount, but anything that makes it worth my while.

72 hours and no blocks is making me sad  Embarrassed I bet after we finally get a block we hit 1-2 more with low CDF like always  Grin It seems like it is a cycle on this pool at this point.
148  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: [WTB] 4.17 BTC with cash (USD) on: March 26, 2015, 04:56:54 AM
I would sell you the 4.17BTC total if the pending falls through. I am not wanting to just sell 1 and some change though. Oh I see you ignore people with signature campaigns guess you will not even see this  Huh

153  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: How to keep a power supply running connected to a PC and a Miner? on: March 23, 2015, 04:16:04 AM
Not looking for the jumper trick to keep a standalone PS running.

What I'm looking for is to keep a Power supply running on a miner, while the PC which is also running off the same power supply is shut down.

I want to power a PC and miner from the same PS, but if the PC is shut down, I need the PS to be on for the miner to still run.

Any ideas?

I really do not see a possible way for that to work. The second you jumper the attached PSU it would fire up the pc, and when you kill the pc it stops the miner. Just get a cheap 2nd PSU is your only option.
154  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [BIT-X] Signature Campaign - Discussion on: March 22, 2015, 06:03:22 AM
I like the idea of the monthly payments - I do not post that much so it is better for me personally. I would like to see the paid per post maybe dropped in favor of 50 posts per month for whatever rate. I think you need to keep an eye on the spammers that have joined. I have seen a lot of bans recently and many seem to be from Bit-X signature campaign. The campaign over all is the best I have ever joined with the bot and all so not much to change.
155  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Buying - iTunes Code/Codes upto $100 on: March 22, 2015, 05:57:24 AM
How much discount you are looking pm me. but don't expect big discount if you are looking legit codes.

Whatever is a better rate than using Gyft I suppose. I was hoping 15% would make it worth my while.
156  Economy / Digital goods / Buying - iTunes Code/Codes upto $100 on: March 21, 2015, 03:50:32 PM
I am looking for some iTunes codes totaling around $100.00. These can be multiple codes or a single one. I will be paying via Bitcoin and want to escrow unless you are trusted. I am looking for a discount, but not a carded code!!
157  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: New to me - Terraminer IV on: March 21, 2015, 03:41:26 PM
Greetings!

I am just getting back in BTC and picked up two Terraminer IV units for $300 each. I really had no intention of starting mining again but the price was right and having Th/s just sounded cool. I managed to get the latest firmware, manuals, etc from the site, despite them taking it offline (thanks Google cache). I have not been able to find much recently on these and what I have found has not been too positive. I would have a different perspective had I purchased at retail when they came out but after seeing these I am impressed. Granted I only have old 60-110Ghs BFL hardware to compare but these seem solid. As soon as I got them I cracked the seals, cleaned them out and started to inventory the components. One was perfect and the other had a core that was not working. I was able to track that pretty easily to a pump that was not running and after a few minutes of highly technical, very sensitive, work with a specialized tool (removed pump and smacked it with the back of a screwdriver) it was once again pumping and all cores running. So I am currently hashing on Slush's pool and getting 3.2-3.6 Th/s between the two after 24 hours straight and overall I am pretty impressed with these units.

Does anyone have any experience or wisdom with these that you would care to share? How about pools? I used Slush's in the past, and I like the new beta site, but the luck has been bad since I joined the pool. Hopefully I don't have a curse on my miners.

TIA

The Cointerra units do run well so long as you keep them cooled on the different stepping settings. I had 1 of them and could only hash it around 1.4TH each due to over heating (stepping 5 iirc).
You should check out the cgminer dev's pool: https://kano.is/index.php their thread here is: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=789369.0

158  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: help on: March 21, 2015, 03:37:34 PM
If anything maybe try to buy a cheap ASIC device if you want to mine. Mining on a laptop will cause it to heat up quite a bit which will ruin it over time. If you are set on mining with it try an alt coin not Bitcoins.
159  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: CGminer not detecting antminer U2 on: March 21, 2015, 03:35:38 PM
Have you tried hot plugging it? Fire up cgminer and then plug the U3 in and see if it finds it.

I am amazed that we only have 2.4PH worth of miners currently. I think people need to try it out and see for themselves kano.is = consistently lucky  Smiley
