141  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Official Anoncoin chat thread (including history) on: August 08, 2014, 05:58:49 PM
Question for you. Your coin is named "ANONCOIN" what anon do you provide? Just wondering.

And as a followup question when you launched "ANONCOIN" did you have working "anon" solution at launch?

"Anoncoin (trading symbol ANC) is a digital cryptocurrency that focuses on privacy and anonymity for its users. Created in June 2013, it is the only coin that provides built in support for both the I2P darknet and Tor that makes it impossible to determine the IP address of the user. Anoncoin will soon be implementing Zerocoin, which will allow users to make transactions that can not be linked in the block chain. With I2P and Zerocoin, Anoncoin will be the first truly anonymous cryptocurrency."

https://wiki.anoncoin.net/Anoncoin

So you are saying that when you launched this anon coin it had fully functioning anon? Is this centralized or decentralized?
I2P is decentralized. Why don't we continue this discussion on the other thread? Smiley
142  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Storj - Decentralized Storage on: August 08, 2014, 11:30:13 AM
When the coin hit exchange?
Probably after the crowd sale is finished.... It wouldn't make any sense to do this before.
143  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LXC][LIBREXCOIN] X11 | POW + POS | No IPO | on: August 08, 2014, 11:26:37 AM
So let me get this straight.

1. The coin does as of now not have zerocoin, i2p or tor. There is a timeline that says the coin will have some kind of hybrid zerocoin/zerocash protocoll called libzerocoin in october. Not one mention of how to solve the third-party problem to make the coin trustless.

2. The dev is a dude that registered three weeks ago, noone knows who he is.

3. All the coins was mined in 8 days!

3. The main product so far is lots of flashy graphics, and a megalomanic vision to conquer the position of BTC splashing the world with librexcoin-ATM's.

Somehow this reminds me alot of Megacoin.

But I won't ruin your party, bye now.

CAVEAT EMPTOR.

I'n gonna answer this once. If its trolled more I will delete the bs. We never been said zerocoin/cash was implemented. Never. The Library is for future zercoin support and developments and has been worked on by a contracted dev who has updated it (the libzero) to the point it work in the coins code. It just means it's there and doesn't maess anything up and can with the right apps function to a degree. Once the Zerocoin/Cash (one is a newer version of the other) are activated or optimized and activated to function without causing bloat to the blockchain or long delays to the confirmation process will it be implemented and we will Announce that we have it fully Implemented in LibrexCoin. Until then its just a support structure for future Zerocin/cash implementation. The is a very complicated program and optimizing so that its practable and usable in a realistic amount of time will take some time. We know it and its why we put a later and tentative date for it. It's our 1 of our main goals. We are alos looking into i2p and tor and any of the latest anonymity techs and obscuring systems. We also have a very effective and practical app being worked on called Librexsend. It's not a coin mixer or other weak anonymity application but instead unique to LibrexCoin  anonymity feature. That means that its not on any other coin or is a copy of some weak ass crap. A white paper on that feature will release soon. White papers on our zerocoin/cash feature once ready for beta will also have a white paper made for review.

That said quit trolling the zerocoin/cash implementation crap. We never said it was Implemented or functioning on our coin.
Thanks or the response. Could you let us know if you are implementing Zerocoin or Zerocash. This is not clear from your post. As you know, the two are incompatible. Zerocash is not a simple update to zerocoin. The two are two different beasts.
144  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LXC][LIBREXCOIN] X11 | POW + POS | No IPO | on: August 08, 2014, 11:22:49 AM
All fud came from people active in anoncoin.

Fud? I think the questions that has been raised are pertinent questions due to the claims beeing made, and librexcoininvestors should be just as interested in these answers, cause frankly the claims made are rather vague.

Again:

1. Are the developers going to Implement Zerocoin or Zerocash? The two are incompatible. Please provide the reference to the paper.
2. Will the setup of Zerocoin be trustless? If so how? RSA-UFOs? Give some detail on how these were chosen.
3. If you are implementing Zerocash, it is not possible to set it up in a trustless manner. How will the security parameters be chosen?

Notice how the dev has suddenly gone all silent after these questions where raised. I'm not so tied to ANC that I would not jump ship and buy some librexcoin if it turned out to have substance and credibility, but what has been presented so far is all just promises and hot air paired with a bunch of mostly newbs screaming halleluja to the nice pictures in the timeline.

You know that you can PM the Developer right?

You know we have an IRC and the dev is pretty active there in the evenings EST.

So why not ask your questions there or PM the dev instead of claiming scam on our forum with no facts or basis?

Wow - did the post you just quoted get deleted? Seemed like legitimate questions and concerns.  Huh

the poster deleted it. They are legitimate questions, but posting scam before getting answers to these questions is just  spreading FUD. He is from anoncoin and they have not been able to get zerocoin/cash to work, so they are just here hating and fud spreading thats all.

While I don't know all the technical aspects of implementing this, I do know the dev that is doing the work, and he had it working a few months back. He told me it required re-writing a lot of the zerocoin code and finishing it out. So until I hear otherwise, or the dev doesnt produce. I'm here to stay.
Could you let me know what you mean by "Zerocoin/Zerocash"? The two protocols are incompatible. Could you let me know which paper you will be implementing? Ben-Sasson et al. 2014, or Miers et al. 2013?
145  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LXC][LIBREXCOIN] X11 | POW + POS | No IPO | on: August 08, 2014, 11:19:52 AM
All fud came from people active in anoncoin.
This is not fud. I will support 100% the first implementation of Zerocoin.
146  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Official Anoncoin chat thread (including history) on: August 08, 2014, 09:11:15 AM
I've created a few "blank" articles on the wiki

Anonymity of cryptocurrencies: https://wiki.anoncoin.net/Anonymity_of_cryptocurrencies

How to mine Anoncoin: https://wiki.anoncoin.net/How_to_mine_Anoncoin

How to set up Anoncoin to use Tor: https://wiki.anoncoin.net/How_to_setup_Anoncoin_to_use_Tor

I don't mine anoncoin, and I never could get it to work with Tor, so any help from the community would be appreciated!
147  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Official Anoncoin chat thread (including history) on: August 08, 2014, 08:37:57 AM
I've been watching this coin for a while, and with increased interest in recent months.

One thing that I believe that contributes to its overall low popularity is that most people don't understand how Anoncoin's implementation of Zerocoin is different than Zerocash. Hell, Zerocoin is already hard enough to grasp as a concept, let alone a variation of it. This adds to an existing perception that ANC is just a copy/paste coin with no real unique attributes.

If the ANC team worked hard to modify the original Zerocoin proposal to make it absolute trustless through the use of UFOs, you should consider calling it something else and stop this confusion. How about saying ANC is the only coin with "Zerotrust" technology, and then explain somewhere for those who really want to know that "Zerotrust" is a new protocol based on the original Zerocoin paper?

By the way, how is the RSA UFO generation going?
The original zerocoin paper proposed using RSA UFOs for a trustless setup. So there is nothing new here. The only thing new is that Anoncoin will implement the paper of Miers et al., whereas Miers et al are working on other things.
148  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Official Anoncoin chat thread (including history) on: August 07, 2014, 08:26:26 PM
Cool that almost everyone is positive about the design - only the drAgon seems to be a little negative - for the first time in the entire thread? Wink
Then - the content...
Only 2 comments so far:

* LuigiPabl sent me some good points, hope you like it better now (see below and correct me one again, english isn't my first language) keep in mind that some words like "decentralized" are good to keep for the search engines, even if it gets a little dense.

* lunokhod2 gave me a lot of input, i'll try to sum it up...
1. we should keep the tech talk down to a minimum.
2. there is not enough info about the coin, we need to describe what anoncoin is, how it is different from other coins, why anonymity matters, what Zerocoin is and why a casual internet user should download the client.
3. there is no info about how to download the client, how to set it up, and to give some real basic security advice.
4. there should be info about the dev team.
5. the average user will not read the wiki, so all information should be in the graphical web site
6. one page format doesn't provide enough space for the content needed, 3 pages should do it.

...and answer:
1. agree.
2. i agree that its good to exemplify what is unique with anoncoins privacy and anonymity, but its getting techy very fast im afraid... maybe some more info written in "normal" english could be added to the "black box of info", feel free to give it a try.
i added direct links to the I2P, Tor and Zerocoin pages in the wiki. (see below)
an idea for the anon-wiki to show differences between coins: make a table with the anonymous cryptocurrencies and their different privacy features (something like https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cryptocurrency#List_of_cryptocurrencies). this could also be copied to the actual wikipedia article under a new header "Anonymity".
3. the visitor just has to click the OS of choice under "WALLET" to download the client.
im convinced that the best way of helping the user set up the wallet is to make the installation process fail proof, either without the option to make mistakes, or with a guided tour, or a manual included in the download.
4. i asked a while ago that https://wiki.anoncoin.net/Team should be created (just copy paste from https://anoncoin.net/index.php/the-coin), i added a link to the team page. (see blow)
5. i agree that the average user will not read thru the wiki, but im sure they can read an article on there just as wall as on the front page, as long as they are being served a direct link.
6. i guess its just about where we draw the line between "enough info" and "tech info". i think you are a little to advanced and im probably a little to "normal" Smiley
anyway im convinced that with some good direct links to the relevant information the visitor will get what the visitor wants, whether its on a second front page or on a second wiki page.
the positive things with keeping the details in the wiki is that there is no limit to what can be added, its searchable, its more community friendly with several users being able to update, it has a good back end to make the updates and it keeps the main page clean.

and here is v.2.0:
http://image.bayimg.com/e528cc185becf0918610fdf5475b31f2e1b79d93.jpg

looking forward for more input...
n00n,

Could you make sure that you add multilingual support for the new web site? As soon as we agree on the final text, I will put out some bounties to get it translate it into several languages, like chinese, japanese, french, russian, spanish, etc.

I will PM you with specific comments.

I just created an article stub for how to mine anoncoin.

It is not accidentally that we have new bigger buy orders on craptsy!
Can't wait to hear the news!!

Where is the work of Gnosis?

Probably on his computer, why do you ask?
There is no work of Gnosis. This is just a copy/paste of the unfinished zerocoin release, nothing to see here.

I'm curious if September is still a realistic estimate, something tells me it's not.

September was expected date x2 by Gnosis.
I ask me why Ian Miers's team stopped working on Zerocoin for a better version named Zerocash?
And today, another coin promise zerocoin and make the news instead of anoncoin:
http://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/news/librexcoin-relaunched-zerocoin-implementation/2014/08/07
Zerocash is not better than Zerocoin. The two are different beasts.

Zerocash can NOT be set up in a trustless manner, whereas Zerocoin can.

I advise you to start reading up on this here: https://wiki.anoncoin.net/Zerocash

20 anc bounty for anyone who gives english lessons to drAGon and meeh.

you think that I and him are raedy for lessons    Grin

ok, after zerocoin...

 Cool

You can get credit for the taoist reference. Lao Tsu was a real master. And Meeh can get credit because one of my best teachers was a norwegian guy in the 1970s who barely spoke english but was somehow an english teacher. Sigard Haaland was a wwii hero and one of the best people anyone would meet but how he became an english teacher is unknown.

Still, english is the international language. If your country is going to be invaded, most likely the invaders will be speaking english.
The american empire is about over now. If you are going to be invaded, it is likely that they will speak chinese.
154  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Official Anoncoin chat thread (including history) on: August 06, 2014, 09:22:07 AM
Meeh: I think the article on Anoncoin was not well written and got deleted. Most importantly , What we have to do is , create more sites based on Anoncoin.  Write  more articles in different news sites.  We have to accept that , even though Anoncoin is older, It has received very less press coverage compared to the shitcoins.

What we need is more content on ANC Wiki site and We have to get Other bloggers to write about Anoncoin.
For info, the last wikipedia deletion had nothing to do with the quality of the article. It was deleted on the grounds that Anoncoin is not notable.  In particular, all facts need to be referenced by respectable sources: github, BCT, the anoncoin web site, twitter, and several of the crappy cryptocoin web sites don't count. The first version of the article was poorly written and not notable. The second version (which I wrote) was a speedy deletion, meaning that there was almost no deliberation as the article had been already deleted once before.

I'll combine Meeh's list of press coverage with those on the wiki here by the end of the day: https://wiki.anoncoin.net/Articles_about_Anoncoin_and_Zerocoin

The trick will be referencing these in the main text (as opposed to just listing them as reading material at the end of the article).
155  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Official Anoncoin chat thread (including history) on: August 05, 2014, 09:58:50 PM
I've been working on a new anoncoin.net.

The new site is an one page only with as little text as possible, referring to the wiki for details and social media or forums for news.

It's important to communicate to 2 groups - normal users and hard core tech people.
Since they want different information in different channels the page should be simple but informative enough for the normal user to get interested and started. The tech guy should be satisfied by the wiki easily found just around the corner and filled with detailed info.

So -  no detailed info or news feed, just links to it.

The style is supposed to be techy yet simple, old school in a modern way, underground but fresh.

Plain html/css, no php/sql/javascript/ajax/google/facebook.

http://image.bayimg.com/24527a19f17592d44c7d9eaab5b350b2f9d159ea.jpg

The texts have not been my priority and are "work in progress" together with lunokhod2.
But please give input on all levels.

Smiley
Hi n00n,

I really like the design of the web site. My comments here will only be related to the text and the choice of a "one page" format.

I realize that the text is not finished, nevertheless, I feel that there is not enough information on the one-page format to describe what anoncoin is, how it is different from other coins, and why a casual internet user should download the client after reading the page. I totally agree that we should keep the tech talk down to a minimum, but I feel that it might be a good idea to have a link to a second page that describes what the coin is all about. I personally would have created a second page that copies this text from the actual web site: https://anoncoin.net/index.php/the-coin In particular, I think that we need to address the question: Why does anonymity matter? And What is Zerocoin? I don't think that the text as written is too tech oriented (but I could be wrong...).

Second, I think that it would be very useful to have a third page that describes how to download the client, how to set it up, and to give some real basic security advice (such as encrypting the wallet and using I2P). I worry that if we burry this in the wiki (which is heavy on text) that the average user will have a hard time finding this (or simply will chose not to look). In general, the average user will probably not read the wiki, so all information should be in the graphical web site.

Finally, I think that the main web page should probably include a list of the developers, along with their expertise. This is useful so that the casual user will realize that there is a team of developers, and not just one person. This could probably be appended to one of the three pages.

In the end, I feel that a 3-page web site should be sufficient to address my concerns. With the given format, it should be trivial to add such pages, if that is what the consensus turns out to be. Of course, this is just my opinion... Smiley

someone please make an article there based on wiki.anoncoin.net, and put links to anoncoin.net on there - good for SEO.
Unfortunately, Anoncoin is not "notable" enough for wikipedia. I tried this a few months ago, but it was deleted. What we need is to have a few articles in notable publications that discuss anoncoin.
158  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Official Anoncoin chat thread (including history) on: August 04, 2014, 10:08:54 AM

ANC without one leg has more value than DRK,
ANC with all team he have behind is more then a coin.

Here is a general observation.

When I first noticed anoncoin last year there was no other coin that tried to improve the anonymity of bitcoin. If you searched for "anonymous altcoin" or something similar, google would send you to a page about anoncoin, no other coin. So anoncoin was first there.

But now let me search a few phrases on Google and see where it sends me.

"first anonymous coin" (in quotes)
First 5 results are darkcoin.
6th result anoncoin
7th and 8th result darkcoin
9th result nxt coin
10th result nud coin

First anonymous coin to use tor (without quotes)
First seven results deal with bitcoin, silk road etc
8th result is anoncoin
9th result darkcoin
10th result bitcoin etc

First tor altcoin (no quotes)
anoncoin does not appear on the first page of results

"Anonymous cryptocurrency" (with quotes)
Anoncoin does not appear on the first page of results. Coins listed include darkcoin appcoin cloakcoin monero, but not anc.

etc

It defies reason to think that the Google algorhythm by itself is excluding anc. Somewhere there must be some deliberate sabotage. It just does not make sense. There is quite a bit more. For example in the second search above the 8th result is a low profile link to an anoncoin post on reddit while the 9th result is an expanded bitcointalk link for darkcoin. No one who sees those results would click on anoncoin.

Search optimization might vary by coin site but coins listed on bitcointalk should not get extra points in the Google search algorhythm unless someone is fudging numbers.

In other words it looks to me like anoncoin is sabotaged at Google itself.

When anoncoin started it used a high profile association with the hacker collective anonymous.  The United States government has devoted vast resources to discrediting "Anonymous" and perhaps that explains why google is so overtly ignoring the coin.

It seems like a possibility anyway.

I just added SEO to the web site (keywords and descriptions for each page). Lets see if this helps after the pages are reindexed...

The Anoncoin project is pleased to announce the following bounty - Links for ANC

Short description: Addition of a new commercial internet web site that accepts ANC to the Anoncoin wiki.

Amount: 5 ANC for each link, with a maximum of 10 links per user.

Details

The objective of this bounty is to have the Anoncoin community find commercial internet web sites that accept ANC, and to add a link to this site on the Anoncoin wiki page Places that accept Anoncoin (https://wiki.anoncoin.net/Places_that_accept_Anoncoin). 5 ANC will be paid for each link, with a limit of 10 links per user. As part of this bounty, the community is encouraged to convince internet commerce sites to accept Anoncoin.

An acceptable link is one that points to a web site that accepts directly ANC (payable to an ANC address provided by the site), one that is not already on the current list of places that accept Anoncoin, and one that sells at least one type of product or service. The link must be added to the wiki in its appropriate category, along with a short phrase summarizing the content of the site, by the person claiming the bounty. If the person does not already have an account to access the wiki, one will be created by contacting one of the wiki administrators (Geekz, Lunokhod, or Meeh).

Exchanges, porn sites, scam sites, or sites that are clearly illegal will not be considered. Payout is under the condition of suitable funds in the ANC donation address after all other bounties are accounted for. The conditions of this bounty are subject to change.

The official announcement can be found on the Anoncoin wiki: https://wiki.anoncoin.net/Anoncoin_Wiki

If you would like to see further bounties, please donate ANC to the project at this link: https://wiki.anoncoin.net/Donate

Please support businesses that support Anoncoin!

The Anoncoin project is pleased to announce the following bounty

Short description: Publication of an article about bitcoin-related privacy/anonymity solutions on a cryptocurrency or internet-privacy web site.

Amount: 250 ANC for the first article. The amount paid for any subsequent articles will be determined based on the reserves of the anoncoin donation address after accounting for all other open bounties. This bounty may be closed at any time following payout of the first article.

Details

The objective of this bounty is to have an article written and published that describes the available privacy/anonymity solutions that are currently available to crytpocurrencies. The article is to provide a simple analysis of the pros and cons of each method that should be understandable to an informed individual who is not a cryptocurrency expert.

This article must discuss the following topics: Stealth Addresses, Darksend (including the use of "Master nodes"), CoinJoin, Dark Wallet, CryptoNote based Ring Signatures, Zerocoin, and Zerocash. For Zerocoin and Zerocash, the distinction between setting up the initial parameters in a trustless manner using RSA UFOs vs. using trusted third parties must be made.

It is anticipated that at least one paragraph will be required to discuss each topic, and that several others will be required for a comparative analysis of the pros and cons that weigh the level of anonymity of each solution. The length of the article should thus be about 10 paragraphs.

Payment will made after the article is published on an internet website that specializes in either cryptocurrencies or internet privacy.

The official announcement can be found on the Anoncoin wiki: https://wiki.anoncoin.net/Anoncoin_Wiki

This is the first Bounty being offered by the Anoncoin project. If you would like to see further bounties, please donate ANC to the project at this link: https://wiki.anoncoin.net/Donate
