141  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Got hacked, lost 11 BTC on: November 25, 2023, 04:40:38 PM
Talked to my wife.  She tried to install a voice changer software yesterday from a link on twitter and it didn't install.  This is a windows 11 PC.  I see something new called WingFtpServer as a startup program. That has to be it. C'est la vie  Embarrassed
I think this is what initiated since your wife doesn't have computer knowledge about the do'"S and dont'S of crypto but the first mistake started from you for not using a hardware wallet or airgap computer to hold the Bitcoin.
With that being said, there is no connection between the server software and the voice changer your wife downloaded.
142  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Some people say they will never sell BTC. Is there any reason for that? on: November 24, 2023, 11:53:21 PM
So, time to time, I see some people saying they will never sell BTC. And I am thinking why is that? (I mean I understand that you can't say never, there will be a time you will have to use your BTC). Anyway, is there any calculations, reasoning behind this? Or it is just pure maximalism?

If there are reasons I would like to discuss them.
I believe people choose not to sell their BTC because it's the forefront of technological innovation, the one true decentralized crypto, and the perfect alternative for fiat currency while it is also the solution for the unbanked and the liberation people seek. Besides, there's more to the future of BTC than just being used for payment and also investment if not an organization like BlackRock, etc won't have an interest in BTC.
143  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Holders Hesitant to Sell Despite Price Surge on: November 24, 2023, 11:20:06 PM
I think The amount of unused Bitcoin which is now at its highest ever at 70%, shows that people who own it don't want to sell, even when the price goes up.
Bitcoin holders choose not to sell because the current price surge you're talking about is just the tip of the iceberg of the surge in price that the Bitcoin market will experience in the next year's market. Besides, selling now is just like giving away your BTC  to BlackRock and other giant investment organizations that file for BTC spot ETF.
144  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Binance’s $4B settlement the green light for spot Bitcoin ETFs? on: November 23, 2023, 11:54:49 PM
One crypto executive predicted five months ago that spot Bitcoin ETFs would only be approved after Binance lost ground on its market dominance.
Maybe he's right but the Binance $4.3 Billion is never the green light settlement for Bitcoin spot ETF, it's the other way around and I sign about how they want KYC the main priority of all crypto exchanges while also forcing control of them so they are using the big fish in the game as an example to the remain CEX about the things they will experience if provide services outside their command.
Alot of crypto projects and exchanges will still be targeted to create panic and fud in the market before the approval of the spot ETF.
145  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is it possible to mine bitcoin with my laptop? on: November 23, 2023, 10:52:58 PM
Though I've been considering it for a while, I've just now made the decision to bring it up in this thread to get additional explanation. Using a laptop, I would like to mine bitcoins. Not just for the sake of making money, the goal is to understand how mining operates without having to buy electricity or an ASIC.
If the aim is to understand how Bitcoin mining operates instead of buying used/cheap ASIC or laboring your laptop which will lead to the computer overheating you should mine altcoin that emulates BTC procedure which is still good for mining using a laptop.
146  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Someone just paid 83BTC for transaction fee, on: November 23, 2023, 10:31:54 PM

As we all know the transaction fee continues to get high as the mempool remains congested for almost a month now due to reoccurring ORDI tokens on the bitcoin blockchain.
One of the main reasons for the mempool congestion is actually the Inscription/BRC-20 worthless JPEG which the holder will wish they didn't buy in the future.
Although, the current congestion is different from the previous market but the mempool always experiences congestion when the halving market is coming and this is always the moment people pay ridiculous all in the name of making transaction but the miners always love it.
147  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Things to avoid as a beginner on: November 23, 2023, 03:40:09 AM
For the time I have been on this platform I have not really received any message from Amy newbie account or even established member asking me for merit or anything of such nature. From what you have said OP I believe you must have had such messages and I hope you don't mind quoting it here for us to see if possible.

Climbing up the ladder is not that easy here but with commitment and focus it would not be too cumbersome to achieve. The issue of burst posting I think should be left for managers to decide otherwise there are quality posts out there which might emanate from such and  if we are to go by that measures, those post are good enough to earn merit which they eventually does.
I think the major thing we need to avoid as a member of this forum is not just avoid merit trading and burst posting, we also need to avoid plagiarism which is the major reasons why many accounts are been ban from the forum. If we get an article from a particular source, it is good for us to drop the link so that it is going to be obvious that the article is not actually written by us and it not our own work. Many people especially the newbies make this mistakes and finally see their account getting ban. Plagiarism are always been report by people that know how to catch those that like calming other people's work.

You made a point here, mate. This aspect of plagiarism is what I initially thought the OP should have mentioned or included in his or her post so that newbies who come across this thread would see for themselves and know what is obtainable on the platform. The issue of plagiarism has cost many accounts here, and I must say that even after all this awareness, some would still fall victim to plagiarism.
The OP indeed ought to include plagiarism as one of the things beginners ought to avoid on this forum but any beginners who read the forum rules and regulations will understand the consequences of plagiarism. However, there are alot of things beginners need to avoid on this forum an example is things that tarnish their reputation on this forum.
148  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Vs Monero - Privacy as the world becomes more dystopian on: November 23, 2023, 12:10:21 AM
Also scaling is another issue, Bitcoin fees are 1000x Monero fees.

Because Bitcoin is used 1000x more often than Monero. If Monero would reach the limits of its capacity, it would have high fees too. And since Monero is not using any different blockchain architecture that would make it more efficient than Bitcoin with block space, you can't say that it's more scalable just because the devs chose to have higher block size cap. Raising the size cap is trivial, dealing with the consequences is not.
I support what you said. I believe some crypto enthusiasts don't understand this fact about crypto usage and I can remember when Ethereum was yet to reach its maximum usage it was among one of the fair TX fee cryptocurrencies before things changed after it reached its capacity limit.
The same thing will happen to Monero and all the altcoins that claim to be scalable.
149  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Binance: $BNB The Future of Exchanges. on: November 22, 2023, 08:49:58 PM
If no one in this thread heard the latest update on Binance, CZ agreed to settle his case with the DOJ, pay $4billion and he pleaded guilty on charges of moneylaundering. He will also go to prison for 2 years. However, it appears that despite of this bad news, BNB was not dumped to go under $200. This might be bullish for BNB, I reckon.
BNB didn't dump because there is so much FUD going on and some mainstream media are behind it. However, we don't know if CZ will have to pay the $ 4.3 billion DOJ since he has pleaded guilty to the violation of the anti-money laundering requirement and I also read that he (CZ) will face 18 months in prison.
Meanwhile, another crypto exchange CEO will be targeted soon and this is what we should expected ever since the BTC spot ETF is filed for because the authority will want to clean the system and make sure all KYC activities are fulfilled.
Having said that,  we will know on Monday if CZ will go to prison for 2 years, 18 months, or not. Attached are the conditions of his sentence.
150  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I am the creator of Bitcoin on: November 21, 2023, 02:36:45 PM
I, Satoshi Nakamoto, decide to come out of the shadows and tell you about how I created Bitcoin.
Congratulations for being Satoshi Nakamoto who invented Bitcoin and it's good to have you back.
I have one question for you.  Could you created a signing message using the Satoshi wallet that hold the BTC that Satoshi used to sent BTC to Hal Finney.
151  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Let's share some tips among ourselves. on: November 21, 2023, 02:13:35 PM
I prefer to do DCA when the market is in a downtrend. I tried to buy every dip possible and kept doing this till the coin flipped. If you want to keep my profit booking strategy, then it totally depends on the bitcoin market. As soon as i got confident that bitcoin is at its peak for this bull season it was time to start booking in altcoin too. This is the time when most of the altcoins start pumping and start making new ATH.
DCA is always the best way to invest in cryptocurren and the market correction season especially when there's a lot of panic in the market is the time to invest in Bitcoin and the altcoin that will always follow the BTC market trend when it halving season.
That's my own strategy of investment.  However,  investing in altcoin market when the some altcoins start to pump is good but it's best when there's correction.
152  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: How did Ripple (XRP) become so popular and blow up in price? on: November 20, 2023, 11:46:50 PM
It happened on 2017 bull run where it was with Bitcoin during that time. I do not know, maybe there were just few choices for the majority of the altcoins and that is why wherever the demand was, there goes everyone who chose to get on it.
Past that, it did not reached the all time high that it has got again because of how various and wide the market is recently. Another reason was about the SEC issue that it has got so it didn't moved a lot last bull run.
Yes,  the ATH price happened in the 2017 market about according to the information or the chart showing the price of XRP then,  the coin seems to be highly manipulated then and according to that fact I think it was memecoin in the crypto market during the 2017.
153  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A Simple Yet Powerful Message That Will Always Hold True on: November 20, 2023, 11:24:32 PM
"Just buy Bitcoin and hold your keys or else you are going to get scammed"
You are damn right, even if this statement looks easy to follow but many failed to follow it and lost all of their funds, not only in BTC but in other investments like those made in altcoins, nuts, metaverse-related projects, etc. These investments, no doubt, made many people millionaires overnight, but also made many millionaires poor too. And that also happens in BTC, where if a person bought some BTC and now holding it for like 10 years.

Exactly, The Biggest losses I have experienced in this crypto industry when it comes to investment were my investment in altcoin and shitcoins, and that was when I had less information regarding Bitcoin compared to what I know of now, I do think this is the same case story with most newbies that have also lost in one way or the other.

Information is key and this is why most investors who understand this now stick their investment only on Bitcoin or more percentage of their capital into BTC,  it is indeed safer with Bitcoin, just Hodl and have patience.
Information is indeed the key while knowledge is power.  Many crypto investors have received the information needed to know that altcoin market are highly and it's the manipulation space for the whales now and once they get their profit they move it into BTC.
The point is that receiving the right information can lead to failure of the person don't have the knowledge to understand the information futuristic benefit.
154  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Toughts about new project the bitcoinbrother on: November 20, 2023, 11:02:22 PM
What you think what's the price could at the end of the year?
The price now less then 1$ and it's projected to following btc price the developers said the techically maximum price Are 100k+ but it's never smart to wait max price best to sell early Even lower then btc actual real price.
So i think this year it can hit 100$ price what's your idea?
In my opinion it's fastest way to make $ this year.
Your statement is incomplete.  You're talking about a certain altcoin and you're not specify about it.
Not all altcoin will follow the price of BTC when halving market.
The ability of BTC to reach $100K in the coming halving market is high so waiting for the ATH price before selling is never a stupid decision.
155  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Extra layers of security to prevent hacks on crypto transaction sites & exchange on: November 18, 2023, 10:01:35 PM
Considering that the biggest scams were when the exchange itself gets hacked and everyone loses their money, the solution to that is not using CEX in first place and using DEX instead.
However, using DEX is also not totally safe if the user does not disable the access or permission granted to the DEX when using it.
Another thing is smart contract vulnerabilities. Some DEX provides their service using smart contracts and if there's a vulnerability in the DEX smart contract bad actors can use it to steal crypto.

Those problems are usually related to liquidity providers, i.e., investors who lend money to the DEX smartcontract to receive some money from their coins, which usually have high APR.

People who just make trades in DEX are in a safer side, usually.
That's part of the issue of DEX but for DEX that relies on smart contracts, the problem is more than just liquidity.
There are some DEX that have smart contract vulnerabilities.

There is no perfect system so you are right, there will always be vulnerabilities that the users must be aware of. But generally speaking about security, using DEX eliminates a lot of the vulnerabilities that exist in CEX successfully.
Yes, DEX provides the solution to the existing problem in CEX and I pointed out the fact that DEX is also not totally secure cause some users may develop the belief that once they use DEX they are all safe.

I wouldn't call what you have in mind DEX. These are basically "token swap platforms" where you can only swap different shittokens with each other. They have much worse vulnerabilities than what is inherited from the token's contract, since they are sometimes written by incompetent developers and are not popular enough to attract any kind of contributor to help improve the tool.
Bisq is the only secure DEX for Bitcoin but that doesnt mean the DEX for altcoins are not DEX.
156  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is not a get rich quick scheme. on: November 17, 2023, 11:58:42 PM
Most people for the first time when they hear of bitcoin, due to its volatile nature that can pump very high within a twinkle of an eye during the bullish period, they misunderstand it to be a get rich quick scheme not knowing the reason behind the pump in price. This has made so many newbies rush into bitcoin as they think that the moment they purchase bitcoin in few months they will make mega profit, unknown to them that it doesn't work that way.
I think the major problem is the people who introduce the newbie to Bitcoin for they bud their understanding and believe in the cryptocurrency market to be a quick-to-rich scheme without telling them how the market works and the chance of making a loss if care is not taken.
157  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Gold vs Btc on: November 17, 2023, 11:34:29 PM
I believe people choose to keep their investment in gold to keep it intact from inflation while Bitcoin was chosen as an investment by people cause it the perfect alternative investment for maximum benefit to open the doors of possibility in the market
158  Economy / Economics / Re: How to survive hyperinflation? on: November 17, 2023, 02:00:07 PM
It is hard to survive hyperinflation but with the help of a professional investment adviser with the addition of investment diversification in cryptocurrency, gold, and silver with the provision of skill and service to earn additional income in foreign currency like USD.
I believe this is a good way to survive any hyperinflation.
159  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Question about Bitcoin network spammer on: November 17, 2023, 01:35:03 PM
They basically created a fake market where scammers create garbage and sell it to newbies who think they can make a profit. Because that garbage (the Ordinals) has a separate value in that market, the newbies don't mind paying a high fee on-chain to transfer that garbage around trading it for possible profits.

This makes things difficult for normal bitcoin users wanting to send bitcoin transactions since a spam attack with incentive to spam is going on.
I am completely frank right now, I just don't understand why someone creates garbage and why someone pays tons of money on it?

I found this ordinal on okx.com
Can anyone really explain, why does it have value and why does someone buy it? Is it a masterpiece? No, it's a piece of garbage. Why should someone pay bitcoins in it? And if we keep in mind that mempool is spammed, then it means that tens of thousands of people create this garbage every day. I have never seen any masterpiece listed on NFT marketplace, there are only pixelated shits everywhere.

Everyone please check this: https://ordiscan.com/inscription/40034415
What's the point of this ordinal? It has text $OG$ only. Do people really pay money to gain the ownership of $OG$ on blockchain? I'm losing my mind.

Also, why are pixelated arts popular instead of arts like Da Vinci's Last Supper, Salvador Dali's The Persistence of Memory, The tower of babel by Pieter Bruegel the elder and so on.
It makes no sense I know Smiley
It is all about marketing to be able to sell dog shit to anyone who buys it. If they told them it is garbage, nobody would have even bothered looking at it. But when they use the term "art" to sell garbage, it gives the idiots the false feeling that it may actually have a value.

It is not new either. I remember in 2017 when the hype started for the first time, they were using anything they could. For example for a while they were trying to tie ICO scams with anything in real world that they could. Two major topics I recall were patient files (for health care system stored in blockchain) which was total bullshit and energy (where they basically hoped to create PetroToken{s} like PetroDollar and sell it to the fools).
Ever since 2017 they have changed face a lot but the fundamentals of the scam remain the same:
ICO, IDO, IBO, IEO, ITO, STO, DeFi, NFT, Ordinals
There's no doubt that what we are seeing in the market is the replication of old scam strategy in a new form but I am still surprised how the idiot that bought the garbage all in the name of art still chose to buy it despite the lost of some NFT collectors years ago and what Casey Rodarmor said about making Bitcoin fun again is the only reason why he created Ordinal NFTs and inscriptions.
I believe won't much attention soon just like Colored coins and Counterparty.
160  Economy / Speculation / Re: Microstrategy buys again! on: November 16, 2023, 12:37:52 PM
Warren Buffett, the "Oracle of Omaha" who said that Bitcoin is "Rat Poison Squared", has made an investment in a "secret stock", but because it's required to report their investments, he's begging the Securities and Exchange Commission to make the name of that company private.

Why does he want to make the name of the company private? I personally don't know, but how LAUGHABLE would it be for the Bitcoin community if that company is MicroStrategy.

 Cool
I believe anyone who trusts every negative thing said by Warren Buffett and others has yet to understand how rich folks walk and that's why it is good to always dyor.
I believe most of the Microstrategy Bitcoin holding is mostly an investment from the powerful and rich folks because they are looking for an alternative due to banks huge chance of collapse and the economy is also not looking good.
