some more news to the people that were like "but BitTorrent doesn't need incentivized sharing it works fine!!!"

Quote
"Reports emerged yesterday that Telstra had begun blocking The Pirate Bay, following a ruling by the Federal Court under Australia's new site-blocking legislation. The court found in favour of rights holders including Roadshow Films and Foxtel, ordering Australia's biggest ISPs to block a number of sites including The Pirate Bay, TorrentHound, Torrentz, isoHunt and SolarMovie."

https://www.cnet.com/au/news/the-pirate-bay-blocked-australia-wide-proxy-mirror-site-dns-blocking-telstra-vodafone-optus/

Quote
Today’s ruling and these initial blockades represent the beginning of mass site-blocking in Australia. Rightsholders re-attending Court to have more sites blocked is likely to become a regular occurrence in 2017 and beyond.

The US Government has listed some of the largest piracy websites and other copyright-infringing venues. The USTR calls on foreign countries to take action against popular piracy sites such as The Pirate Bay, which has important "symbolic value," according to the authorities. In addition, stream-ripping is mentioned as an emerging threat.

Interesting, a 5BTC order at 2352 sat.

Not long left for cheap coins, only a week left to accumulate.

Wow some one really wants to get in cheap. Maybe he is counting on the btc bull run for someone to dump.

30 Dec 16, 03:40

It's getting a little tricky to pin point the exact time, but Thursday, Friday or Sat next week.

If we are still keeping to block 1,200,000 devs need to be releasing something mid next week and getting exchanges to update.

Not many people talking about testing of the new client  Huh

That's either a bad thing, because testing on forks is always recommended

or, it's a good thing, because the devs don't want anyone to see what's being revealed.

Either way, remember folks, new client releases often come with one or two bugs. So back-up now and if shit happens, that's ok, it happens.
How sure is planned fork at 1200000 block?
Devs give no confirm. We are close but no
assurance yet it will occur. Delay would make
many holder dump...

Do our fellow members of this community foresee a large sell-off if BitTorrent integration is not released in this next version?

~ The Hive ~

Not particularly; I believe most of the people who are long term holders or who are investing in this idea are investing in it solely for the "idea".

No one else has been able to produce a solution similar to what VTR promises; indeed many have made false claims but no one has actually successfully implemented incentivized P2P file sharing via blockchain

Until such a time as someone can provide incentivized P2P file sharing via blockchain then there is no threat from any other project.

To expand upon that: many have promised, claimed and tried but no one has actually delivered anything at this moment.

hmm, interesting--especially to people who question why something like vTorrent might be useful:

Lol, what the hell.

We're at block 1187584. Major new features at 1200000 and people are selling!? LOL

Second wallet on trex got no balls.

The market will move up pretty quick in a week, just watch BTC moon, then it will be VTR's turn.

Its pretty normal for altcoin prices to slip when Bitcoin peaks--right now the entire market cap of Bitcoin is the highest its ever been (including peak Mt Gox).

Wow that's a whole lot of VTR; 5% interest a year means they'll be getting 50k VTR extra a year...

Just an update with the block explorer; I've paid for another few months and contacted the dev who has successfully restarted the wallet (http://cryptoguru.tk/NetworkInfo/index.php?Currency=VTR)

Hello Dev,
Can you please kindly remove reference to RAWX from OP as it is has now shutdown.

Thanks,

-snip-

How is their website shady?

BUT more important, it's a fucking website not a program i'm running on my computer so there's no real risk
-snip-

I'm really surprised at someone who claims to be smart and know about coding, enough to talk down at me, yet considers an 'investment' in a website to be ok.

It's like saying I'm invested in the Google website while running a Litecoin client. There is no difference as far as I can tell from the PureVidz web site and some yet to be released client.

You're PureVidz 'investment' asset can be taken off line at any second. What are you left with? A bunch of coins, for what purpose?

You are also relying on the 'devs' sharing ad revenues with you to give your 'investment' value. What's to stop him keeping 100% of the money?

While we're on that subject, you should ask yourself why the 'dev' doesn't seem to know very much about TV Addons.

Websites that compete with your 'investment' are suffering because TV Addons scrapes streaming content from websites like PureVidz, removes any ads and makes the streams available to anyone for free. And you're left with a high bandwidth server cost and nothing else. Giving the dev an even greater reason to pump and fuck off.

I don't think you are burying your head in the sand, especially the 20% premine, I think you're either in on what's about to happen to investors or you don't mind the devs giving you and the rest of the dumb investors a right royal shafting when it suits him:

Next.....

if their intent was to just take the BTC and fuck off with it what would be the point in setting goals that need to be reached before the escrows release the funding? that sounds like the worst scam in history

any other coin that i've seen that uses escrows simply launches the main net and says thanks for the bitcoin and the escrows essentially amount to being fuck all useful for anything look at Waves for a example... it's a bit ridiculous that they get access to that entire sum of bitcoin just for launching a network, even scam projects can at least do that much

given their transparency about how the funds are being released if the 20% premine bothers you so much, why not make it a concern of yours to ask them to have the escrows hold it? or to have them hold it on a public address? or something that ensures them not dumping it on the market

while kodi/tvaddons and pure vidz might be similar they work entirely differently, this project at the end of the day is re-inventing the wheel for torrents while stripping out what makes torrents actually worth while using

but again, lets keep talking about pure vidz and my other investments rather than tackle the issues about this project i've presented Smiley because hey, the dev developed a SUPER SECRET otp implementation and has been around for 2 years and therefore is trust worthy to not stick something malicious in his closed source program! xD
IF YOU DON'T LIKE THIS PROJECT JUST WALK AWAY!!!!!

Please stop posting here, I wish you all the best with purevidz.

Its kinda funny to me that I was confronted with a broken computer screen for the past 6 months+; I finally decided to splurge on a new screen which is why I decided to sell some VTR (although I am in for the long term, not having to get extremely angry every time I use my computer is ideal)

So I'm literally reading these guys comments through the profits of VTR.
149  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VTR] vTorrent - Share with freedom | 2FA | HD | @Bittrex on: December 17, 2016, 02:11:42 PM
Exactly my point, it seems that no one actually thought about it, or about how the whole feature will function..    some people just assume that waiting for two years for something they don't even bothered to understand is a good thing, and everyone who doesn't think like them is a troll.

"it seems that no one actually thought about it"

Again--There are 150 pages. Go and read. Because it has been discussed. As for what system vTorrent will actually use has still not been confirmed (this is at least partly backed up by the dev saying very, very, very early on that he was going to keep most details private because there was another unrelated scam "Magnetz")

What you're saying is that this was a pure speculation investment for two years, since no code of the main feature has been shown yet, and your argument is "but the dev said this is going to be a secret.." ,  how long do you think that "secret" can hold ? another two years?
Come on.. listen yo yourself..

Yes. Exactly.

In any case I've had access to a beta that was never publicly released and although the torrent function was removed (it'd crash the client when clicked) I did find evidence of a few things leading me to understand some things about the project.

"What you're saying is that this was a pure speculation investment"

Wow! Stop the presses! People are speculating on a cryptoproject!
What if there were exchanges where people could trade these "speculative investments" with each other!

Check out this sick roadmap infographic:

Can the dev please add some sick ass dubstep inspired roadmap graphics to the OP and fill up a 600 page whitepaper PDF with some slick technical diagrams like this one:

I'm sure that would help to allay mishax1's fears about this project and turn it into another generic crypto project.
150  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VTR] vTorrent - Share with freedom | 2FA | HD | @Bittrex on: December 17, 2016, 11:50:33 AM
I appreciate your effort, but I was referring to this - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=889481.msg17202401#msg17202401

The OP says it aims to be the next limewire or kazaa with a blockchain at it's core, i'm pretty sure they are refuring to being like a content sharing platform, not to function exactly the same as them.

An inbuilt torrent client with the ability to search the blockchain for magnet links, this is what I imagine it to be, but I can't confirm it 100% as I know as much as everyone else.

Can someone please ban duke? Go shit in someone elses parade.

We've been told that big changes are coming just two weeks away. Wait two weeks. Two! Fucking! Weeks!

Unless you can prove any of these allegations. Just shut the fuck up! Nobody wamts to hear your fud!

600+ alt coins and they all have one thing in common. People just like duke calling the masses bag holders and idiots for believing in a project.

I like this project. I have faith in it. It's been doing great over the last two months.

I don't care if your feelings are hurt, go fuck off!

fyi my allegations are valid given the full source code for the windows wallet on the releases isn't public, keep plugging your ears screaming lalala until dev sticks a virus in there and says hey new release everyone make sure you update! Cheesy

"allegations"

Its already been well discussed that not only will 2FA remain closed source, but the torrent features will be closed source upon release.

Hardly groundbreaking information.

Please go read the other 147 pages before you try to act like you've discovered some fantastic new information that everyone hadn't already discussed a long time ago.

lmao alright let me just run this shady ass program for torrenting and downloading copyrighted things, cracks, etc. that's CLOSED SOURCE... yup absolutely no worries or threat there! can't POSSIBLY see how that could go wrong. Oh... what's this undetected root kit I have?

Those are valid concerns, however people have known this about this particular project for quite some time. Go and read.

You can make your own decisions, or run the client in a sandbox/virtual machine.

Again, you're not pointing out anything that hasn't already been discussed.

if you cant see the potential in vtr, and see we are very close to new releases, better move on and dont look back on here.
people holding this coin strong and you wont get easy cheap coins due to fud attemps.
this was a longterm project from beginning. Im feeling good to be part in it.

Its kind of hard to see potential when VTR's birthday is December 11, 2014,  and we are Dec 14, 2017 now and all there is to show is an updated op.
Let's get real here!

"we are Dec 14, 2017 now"

This guy obviously invested in the crypto time travelling ICO.

I cant say Im impressed by the progress done here, but recent updates, despite being vague ridiculous rubbish, suggest buyers havent lost faith in this coin and possibly reckon it will recover in the near future.

Unlike the vast majority of projects in this space I'd say investors are looking at the potential of linking into a strong project from which bitcoin itself was based (bittorrent)

I've seen lots of projects in this arena but none really hold the promise that this project potentially does which is why it's so interesting...

If nothing else for now it's also the world's first crypto project to feature 2fa--that alone should speak volumes about what could possibly be.

You are welcome to your opinion and your own take on current events. We encourage all potential investors to do their research before making any decisions regarding our project.

We believe in the freedom of information and that traditional media has done the public a disservice in refusing to update their business model and evolve to reflect changing technology. Services such as Netflix and Hulu are a great step forward but are absolutely unusable in many areas of the world due to ridiculous licensing issues. Compare the selection of netflix inside the US to other areas of the world and the differences are astounding. This is before even taking into account the different economic conditions between countries.

Our site and our business model does not break any copyright laws in our country and while certain areas of the world may choose to argue that point, we are not hosting anything which is copyright but rather links that allow users to retrieve information on the content they are looking for. We have the ability to address the 2 biggest issues with traditional torrent sites. Number one, it simplifies the process requiring no third party software, extensions or custom browser addons. Number two, you do not have to dig through dozens or hundreds of results to find what you are looking for or require any special knowledge to ensure you are not exposed to malicious content.  We also solve the biggest issue with traditional streaming sites in that content linked from our website is decentralized and has no single point of failure.

Whatever the legal status of torrents in your area and whatever your moral stance on copyright law and traditional media is, it is undeniable that what our project looks to provide holds not only promise, but monetary value for investors. I would strongly encourage testing our second demo site as it goes live this weekend and doing research on similar services. Anyone who regularly uses stream or torrent sites will be able to see at a glance the power of what we are doing with this project.

I dont know why your attacking me!

I took a look a look at this project and I'll share a few concerns.
I couldn't find a white paper, so that is a red flag for me. I see a lot of content out there now encoded with H.265 / MPEG-4 HEVC codec. No browser yet supports it, so that is at least an unknown.
The test site does look interesting in its ease of use. Unless you make acquiring vids currency equally easy, I don't think you'll see much uptake from non-technical users.
This reminds me of another project with similar goals: Popcorn Time. It was a really nice program and free to use, but was abandoned by original devs because of pressure from the MPAA.
Regardless of ideology, the legality of Purevids and other bittorrent clients/trackers/linkers will always be in question and under attack by industry and law enforcement agencies. It seems the Purevids solution is to propagate the centralized data over many sites where legality is questionable, a la the Pirate Bay. They will likely experience the same court challenges and ISP blocking, if not actions against the people and organization itself, continuous frustrations for users. I don't think this is a sustainable model or very attractive to investors. Also, limiting it to streaming vids and not other content seems odd and a missed opportunity.

Regardless, I wish them luck but won't be investing.

Again to reiterate a "competing" project that only offers video streaming as a service is not a competitor to vTorrent.

vTorrent (as I'm sure most people are aware) aims to work with the preexisting BitTorrent ecosystem--it isn't reinventing the wheel. It also isn't limited to video or audio--it could be linux distributables, word documents, PDF files, software, ultra HD video, archival files, historical arcade ROMs and such. So long as its a file that can be accessed by a computer, then it can be shared via BitTorrent.

For instance, The Internet Archive offers over 1 million torrents which provide P2P access to historical files. Providing some form of incentive for users to share these files would be absolutely revolutionary.

A service which only caters to streaming isn't at all similar to BitTorrent (or by extension vTorrent).

In my personal opinion, this is very much an apple and oranges comparison. I mean feel free to keep up the comparisons--but vTorrent vs some streaming crypto project is a ridiculous comparison.

Sounds like you're trying to play the victim card. Just to be clear you came in to a coin's ANN forum and began shilling a different coin.....  Roll Eyes

I came and asked some questions. I dont think that's shilling. Did I come in here telling people to sell vtr and buy vidz? Nope! I just came asking some questions in order to get a good understanding of a possible investment and where better to ask questions then the thread of a coin who has been doing similar things for a while.

Then I realized you're not even doing the same thing but by then everyone was attacking me. I'll leave you all to your thread now full of hate. I've got all the information I need.
Thx.

I think you misunderstand that although video forms a significant use case for Bittorrentt it is not a streaming technology.

Thus asking the difference between this project and a project that supposedly revolves around streaming is irrelevant.

If the other project actually involved bittorrent and not some attempt at reinventing the wheel with p2p file sharing then it'd be relevant too.
