I think I'm going to start using escrow when buying from SP-TECH and bitmain now.  Undecided

Be sure to use multisig, otherwise one day your escrow agent will just run off.
142  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: GAW Miners Paybase Paycoin unofficial uncensored discussion.ALWAYS MAKE MONEY :) on: March 04, 2015, 11:15:26 PM
IANAL but I doubt SEC wants to actually talk to any GAW customers except a few large-ish ones perhaps. The stuff they're requesting about customers is mostly regular business accounting, they'd need all that to conduct any decent investigation. Also GAW's failure to produce such business records would be quite important by itself.

Impossible to keep up with this thread lol, but just want to respond to the above: one reason the SEC wants the data of customers is almost certainly to determine if they are "sophisticated investors". If this paycoin thing is deemed a(n unregistered) security, then its illegal to sell it unsophisticated investors. Before anyone aks: sophisticated in this context basically means rich.

In general investors/customers should not fear the SEC, its not illegal to buy these things, nor to get scammed. If anything, the SEC is doing its thing to protect them.

Exactly. Panic implies that it's irrational fear.

actually, no. The word does imply that you will respond irrationally, not that the fear itself isnt justified.

And this is not a threat, is worse, IT IS A WARNING FROM ME...

I quiver in my boots. Coming from the guy who posted this:

Quote
And for all of us that are hopeless prisoners of our decision to invest in pbmining, let's band together and protect our investment, we cannot do anything else, but try to make our boat not making more water.

LETS BE PRACTICAL HERE, the PB GUY has demonstrated that he cares. lets help him pay us.

and this

Ok, i am TorukMakto in PBMINING with 12240 GHS and also i am Customer 22537 (also know as Pluton14) with 112856 GHS the biggest one, and

I HAVE BEEN REFUNDED IN FULL BY PBMING just today as he promised

I have also noticed that he paid another customer a large quantity of bitcoins, but much less than mine.

This is all i can say, i spoke to him the last few days, at times he was rude and stupid, but he has proven that he is not a thief, at least to me.

Maybe you should just, you know, shut up.
145  Economy / Securities / Re: HAVELOCK INVESTMENTS - Trading To Resume 6 PM EST March 4th on: March 04, 2015, 09:35:13 PM
If not, you will have demonstrated that you sided with AMHASH all the way against others like PBmining and WE WILL SERIOUSLY CONSIDER treating you as ACCOMPLICES and therefore, legitimate targets to be hunted.

If the level of research you did in to what I have been posting is representative of what you will do to hunt friedcat, then you're not gonna get very far.. BTW, I dont appreciate being threatened. So GFY.

I think we agree, its just how you phrase it, ie, semantics.  Even the dictionary tells us we are both right, its just that you pick definition 3, Im using the first one:

fraud (frɔːd)
n.
1. deceit or trickery perpetrated for profit or to gain some unfair or dishonest advantage.
2. a particular instance of such deceit or trickery: mail fraud; election frauds.
3. something that is not what it pretends.

Lets not argue semantics on what is or isnt a ponzi, what really matters is what is or isnt a scam. To be a scam,  there has to be an intent to defraud. Even if AM/AMhash imo clearly should have disclosed what was going on, being asked not to by friedcat along with promises of a fix in the form of replacement hardware, is not an entirely unreasonable explanation and I do not (yet) believe the intend was to defraud their customers. The fact they didnt IPO anything after they were informed of the magical disappearing act, testifies to that.

148  Economy / Securities / Re: HAVELOCK INVESTMENTS - Site will be back up Monday March 2nd on: March 04, 2015, 12:09:38 PM
Havelock can't get fees when trading is frozen so it's also against their interests.

Not necessarily, because it will prevent people with a clue from using their platform.
I for one, have no interest in having to trade against people with early access to relevant info. Suspending trade doesnt solve all of that of course, especially not if the CEO doesnt release crucial information to the public for many months, or even at all, but it would be a step in the right direction
149  Economy / Securities / Re: HAVELOCK INVESTMENTS - Site will be back up Monday March 2nd on: March 04, 2015, 12:04:24 PM
Form me yes, only coincidence, in the past, failure of companies, never stopped havelock, why this would be different ?

Because it greatly affected AM and AMhash, about the only securities with any volume on, and therefore revenue for HL.
150  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: GAW Miners Paybase Paycoin unofficial uncensored discussion.ALWAYS MAKE MONEY :) on: March 04, 2015, 11:53:44 AM
Yes, I agree. This is all very interesting, especially from a psychological point of view.
What interests me here, is behind this all some other 'master mind' or is it only Josh?
Is it possible that a person like him devise and foresee everything that happened or he simply adapts to the current situation on the fly?
Really mind-blowing to analyze ...

I for one, dont think Josh is the 'master mind' behind it, just the public face. Several of GAW's idea's were actually clever, if you look at it from their perspective. While spelling alone isnt a good measure of someone's intelligence, nothing I read from Josh suggests he is anywhere close to clever.
151  Economy / Securities / Re: HAVELOCK INVESTMENTS - Site will be back up Monday March 2nd on: March 04, 2015, 11:49:10 AM
One has to wonder if its just coincidence havelock shut down for what, 10 days, for 'maintenance' right when the AM/AMhash fiasco was unfolding.

Assuming its not, here is a Pro tip: next time there is a such a big news event, suspend trading of the affected securities, clear all orders, make the news public, give investors some time to digest the info, then resume trading of the affected securities. The same should even apply  to events like posting financial results (although in the case of AM, lately thats become so rare its a 'major' event I guess). Uninterrupted trading makes it so unfair to anyone without early access to the info, in many cases just understanding Chinese gives you a huge leg up. And lets not mention board members...

I assume Jett is our beloved Josh?

No, its booked as 'kid', ie, <11 yr old. The other is youth so less than 25yr old.
I assume these are supposed to be his children. No idea if he has children and even less how kken01 would obtain those tickets...

I defined "legit" as having provided reasonable evidence that they are mining with physical hardware and the goal was not to defraud customers.  In that sense, I still think Amhash was legit and unlike the actual collapsed ponzi's, there is even still a fair chance they will make their customers whole if/when FC resurfaces.

If you want to know which cloud mining operation is virtually risk free, the answer is -and always has been- :  none, even if you accept the difficulty/price risk.

Somebody tell me why XPY isn't at 1 penny given this current shitstorm?

Because there are always a few suckers who essentially bet on making a profit from even bigger suckers than themselves.
Given how foolish the paycoin crowd is, that might even be a reasonable bet, if it werent for garza&co cleaning out the buy orders every so often with their unlimited supply of XPY..
156  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] Lots of used RAMs and CPUs on: March 03, 2015, 07:31:41 AM
There is pretty much no gold in modern (Pentium 4 and up) cpu's.

Some of those cpu's and ram modules should still have some value just from their utility, even bent pins can be straightened easily with an exacto knife, but no one is going to bid a fair price if we have to guess whats in that lot.
157  Economy / Securities / Re: AMHash1: Cost-Effective Mining Contract on: March 02, 2015, 11:20:42 PM
Im taking bets difficulty wont go down even once this year.

Still taking the bet? How about a 0.1 BTC friendly bet?

I admit its beginning to look precarious.
I assume you're betting mostly on the upcoming difficulty change? If so, ok, Im game for a 0.1 BTC friendly bet that the next difficulty will be higher than the current one. Though I have been more certain about other things :p

Hasrate dropped by ~2PH. So it turns out I lost this bet because someone stole an entire warehouse full of miners Smiley

Itīs like any other extortion/protection racket. Refuse to pay, your business is slandered and attacked to death.

You're beyond grasping now. So now its not extortion but slander ? Do asic's have feelings and are they susceptible to slander ? If not, how does 'slander' prevent a real mining operation from paying mining revenue to its customers ? What shit do you smoke?
159  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: March 02, 2015, 08:59:00 PM
Does anyone have AM share price and volume charts for the past 6 month or so? Would be interesting to see if anyone dumped shortly after December 25th.
160  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: CloudMining.website is offering 1 GHs @ 0.0008 BTC | 5% affiliate commission on: March 02, 2015, 08:53:59 PM
Well, I never claimed that the extortion garbage was successful in its extortion attempts.

If it was not successful, then why else did all these 'legitimate' companies stop paying their customers?
