1401  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Qatar is still the richest country in the world on: July 24, 2017, 05:12:10 AM
Qatar has seen astonishing economic growth ,I think it is because of the rebound on oil price and its massive natural gas reserve and it will be adjusted for purchasing power.

They will face problems now. The natural gas prices are inter-linked with the crude oil prices. If the prices remain low, then obviously the revenues are going to get affected.
1402  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Do you hate muslems? on: July 24, 2017, 05:07:39 AM
Can the actions of the IRA then be considered "religious terrorism?" I'm really skeptical about that, because the goals of the two sides were completely political, not religious.

The IRA were fighting to separate Ulster from Great Britain. They were not interested in establishing a Catholic theocracy there, under the Pope. And further more, they never justified their acts saying that their holy books says that they will get 72 virgins in heaven, if they behead the protestants.
1403  Economy / Economics / Re: New rich people thanks to BTC on: July 23, 2017, 07:46:58 AM
Everyone can be rich with bitcoin, who would have thought, the price keeps rising from 0.1 cent to 3000%, this is really amazing, people who are in the crypto world should be grateful to bitcoin

An increase of 300 million percent is even difficult to imagine. And I don't think that in the history of mankind any other asset has given that sort of returns. The closest I could think about is the stock of Cisco, which went from $0.10 to $60.00 during the dot com boom (+60,000%).
1404  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin heading to $4,000 on: July 23, 2017, 07:40:38 AM
Although it's hard to reach the $ 4000 price, but I guess that's possible. Well, if bitcoin gets past $ 3000 by the end of August or in september, it's likely that bitcoin prices will also go up, and it's possible to arrive at a price of $ 4000 by the end of the year.

It depends on the institutional investors. A lot of them dumped their BTC holdings, after getting scared of the August 1 scenario. And most of them are still thinking about their forward action plans. If they show their faith in BTC once more, then even $5,000 per coin can be achieved by the end of this year.
1405  Economy / Economics / Re: Can Bitcoin End World Poverty? on: July 23, 2017, 07:34:04 AM
I think, bitcoin should be distributed evenly so that it can reduce and even eliminate poverty. The government played a major role in this.

Why should Bitcoins be distributed evenly? Those who worked hard to popularize it during 2010 and 2011 must be given a larger share, followed by those users who showed trust in it during 2012-14. Why should free handouts be given to those who refused to support Bitcoin?
1406  Economy / Economics / Re: How Bitcoin will reach $2000 to $10000 in 2017 and $100k by 2026. on: July 23, 2017, 07:31:46 AM
Already Bitcoin is having a market cap of around $45 billion, which is comparable to the market cap of the second-tier international currencies such as the Saudi Riyal and the Russian Ruble. To reach the $100K mark, the market cap needs to increase by some 40 times, which means that it reaches the same level as that of the tier 1 currencies such as the EUR and USD. Do you think that BTC is capable of achieving this?
1407  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-07-20] How Businesses In Russia Accept Bitcoin and Pay Taxes on: July 23, 2017, 07:28:40 AM
That is good news, because a lot of the early adopters were from Russia and the other Russian-speaking countries. But the negative attitude form the government forced many of the promising ventures to move out of Russia. The case of BTC-e is a perfect example. That exchange was started by two guys from Moscow. But since the government was not supportive, they had to shift the operations to Bulgaria.
1408  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-07-21]BIP 91 Locks In and Bitcoin Price Rises Sharply on: July 23, 2017, 07:26:21 AM
I think this want we are seeing in the last 24 hours. People have reacted very positive pushing the price to almost $2800 and even $3000 to other exchanges. Only 150 blocks remaining before Segwit is activated. My guesstimate that may in less than 72 hours, it will be fully implemented by that time pushing the price to a new level. We may even break the $3000 right after the official news. So I guess for those who have sold when the their is panic is kicking their heads now and regretting what they did. While for most of us you are just holding and buying small amounts, we will be very happy for sticking on bitcoin for long term.

Even some of my friends did the same, selling at around $2,500 per coin. But to tell the truth, no one expected the prices to recover so sharply. In 2-3 days time, the prices recovered to $2,800 per coin from just $1,800 per coin.
1409  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-07-20] Dark web marketplaces AlphaBay and Hansa shut down on: July 23, 2017, 07:24:10 AM
Nothing positive is going to come out of these closures. If one dark market is shut down, then another one will come in to existence. When Silk Road and Black Market Reloaded were shut down, Sheep Market Place and Silk Road 2.0 came in to existence. Alphabay came in to the picture when these two dark markets were removed from the scene.
1410  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-07-23] Bittrex locking all withdrawals and deposits. on: July 23, 2017, 07:20:33 AM
I have an account with Bittrex and I have previously used that account for crypto-trading. Fortunately, I don't have any coins right now in that exchange. Still doesn't understand why they are locking the withdrawals and deposits so early.
1411  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is instant way to get rich ? on: July 23, 2017, 07:18:34 AM
Don't consider like that. Altcoins contains the chance of getting rich in a short period of time but at the same time getting lost in short period time too. Bitcoin is much safer and the possibility to stay in safe is more abundant.

Whatever rise happened with altcoins during the last four months is solely due to the Bitcoin scaling issue. Since this issue is almost resolved, I expect the altcoin prices to go back to the pre-spike levels.
1412  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So there is BCC on aug1? on: July 23, 2017, 07:16:11 AM
Does this mean any BCC coins we receive will work with our current BTC address or Huh How will the addresses be impacted in terms of BCC, new ones or?

Thanks

I assume that the address will remain the same, although I am not sure. But what about the private keys? They will also remain the same, right? We will be able to confirm all this only on August 1.
1413  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin may not be number one for long on: July 23, 2017, 07:04:52 AM
Actually, there is no point comparing Bitcoin and Ethereum as they both have different uses and maybe even different markets.

Right now, the primary use for both these currencies is for investment purposes. They were destined as currencies, but right now they are mostly being used as investment assets. So a comparison can be made.
1414  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can we know about Aug 1 before Aug 1? on: July 23, 2017, 07:00:58 AM
Nothing bad is going to happen on August 1. There will be no chain split and BCC will be created as an altcoin. If you have the private keys to your Bitcoin wallet (or if you are storing your coins in OKCoin), then you will be able to claim them.
1415  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is there a relation between Bitcoinprice and Gold price? on: July 23, 2017, 06:56:10 AM
I don't think that there is any correlation between the prices of Bitcoin and gold, although I can see some link in the value of the United States Dollar with the prices of both these assets. A reason may be due to the fact that Bitcoin and gold caters to different type of investors. Those who are after quick returns will go with BTC, while those who are interested in low risk assets with guaranteed returns will go for gold.
1416  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cash-out or buy Alts before August 1? on: July 23, 2017, 06:53:28 AM
What the best choice?

I think that you're thinking that 1st August will certainly end in a chain split, but this has not been confirmed by anyone and the future is quite uncertain. The worst scenario is obviously a chain split and two or maybe more networks running alongside each other but that could be different from reality.

Anyways, i'm cashing out 80% right now. Price is sky high, nearing the all time high actually. Nothing to lose if you sell now, the worst you can do is lose a couple of hundred bucks in potential profits. But the risk is high, imo and it's best to wait it out, buy back in 7st August or so, 1 week after the 1 August date.

Whatever you do, hold your own private keys if you decide to hold any sort of bitcoin. Don't hold anything on coinbase, coinjar, xapo, etc.

BIP 91 is locked in and therefore a chances of split is very low. Even if a split happens, it is most likely to be in the form of a separate altcoin, and not in the form of a blockchain split. So your strategy can turn out to be very risky.
1417  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [UPDATED]: The OFFICIAL SegWit2x Lock-in Thread on: July 23, 2017, 06:48:48 AM
Non SW2X blocks now being rejected.

Canoe pool was the only major mining pool which was refusing to signal BIP 141 earlier. Even they are signaling it now (check block number 477103), and therefore I don't think that any block is going to get rejected.
1418  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can there still be a Bitcoin Cash (BCC) fork on August 1st on: July 21, 2017, 12:04:01 PM
BitcoinCash or BitcoinABC fork will happen, but i doubt it could earn support from bitcoin community. I bet people will dump this coin as soon as block/chain split happen and most BitcoinCash/BitcoinABC supporters only care about profit Roll Eyes

What about the other community members, devs and the users? 90% of them only care about money. Why do you think so many people are using altcoins such as Ethereum, Litecoin and Ripple? They want to earn profits by investing in these currencies. BCC will be another attractive altcoin out there.
1419  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dark market double bubble on: July 21, 2017, 11:38:37 AM
After the fall of Silk Road and Black Market Reloaded, Alphabay was the largest dark market out there. I never thought that they could be taken down, as there were rumors that the servers were hosted in Russia. Anyway... Agora Market Place is still there, right?
1420  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin needs altcoins because ... on: July 21, 2017, 11:34:36 AM
No. I don't think that Bitcoins need the altcoins. The latter is having a negative effect on the adoption and expansion of Bitcoin. For the altcoins, it is the reverse situation. They can't survive without Bitcoin. If BTC goes down, it will take the alts along with it.
