1441  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Between futures trading and gambling on: August 21, 2023, 05:59:57 PM
Maybe the reason why the OP wanted to compare between the two, futures and gambling, is that futures is like a gamble.
As you don't know about the future performance of the project, you are left to speculate on this and take a dive with futures.
However, the more knowledge and insights you have with the project, the better your chance with futures.
Unlike in gambling, particularly with luck-based games, no matter what research or strategy you will apply on your games, if it is not your luck, you can't get your winnings.
And do remember, it depends on the person himself, how he is patient in learning with the project. Because it would take time before you can truly understand what's going on with the project.

Regardless of what the project is all about, if traders are already locked in on a futures market, they wouldn't really changed it and play with their odds to get the maximum profit. Futures trading is very simple though also requires a bit of luck for the market to favor on your locked price. In gambling, everything and anything goes; you play with your odds, and most of the time, the odds play against you. Both are the same in terms of betting on something but different when it comes to approach. In futures trading, there is already an established pattern that traders adhere to, whereas in gambling there isn't any.
1442  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casinos games are not made by the casino teams but... on: August 21, 2023, 05:41:57 PM
It is entirely possible that the casinos who buy these games from the developers have full control of the games that are deployed in their platform. They have demo games that exist for a reason, and that is to lure people as much as possible by giving them increased win percentage on those in order to get the player deposit in the real thing. It would be foolish for the casinos to not have any type of control on their games and let the game developer do all of the tinkering on their own, because they won't get maximum profit on those games for sure.
1443  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [CHESS] FIDE Candidates Chess Tournament 2022 on: August 21, 2023, 05:19:33 PM
In the meantime, Pragnanadha beat Caruana and we will see the final I wanted. Hopefully Pragnanadha will be able to surprise Magnus with something.

My guy Pragg getting into finals with Magnus will be a thing to watch. The draw that happened would have been won by Fabi had he noticed that single pawn E5 move, though that's only me making sense of what I watched at the time and I'm pretty sure Pragg would have taken a countermeasure in order to evade being defeated. I'm rooting for Pragg to win a game against Magnus, but given that he (Magnus) hadn't won the title yet, he's pretty much prepared to take this win and seal the deal.
1444  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: History of Gambling From Ancient Times to the Digital Age on: August 21, 2023, 04:48:22 PM
The Chinese really have the affinity to gamble, I see. There are tons of gambling houses here in the Philippines wherein the Chinese are the owners and operators. Now I know that it predates any other important thing in human society, so that explains it. Also, when it comes to widespread gambling, I know that the Romans and Persians are to blame. They have huge influence in Asia and Europe during the time of their empires and kingdoms that it's not really a thing to be surprised on when we find out that they're the progenitors of gambling.

But damn, poker in ancient times? I wonder if they have poker faces back then or how they play it.
1445  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I can’t cope on my own. What do you think I should do? on: August 21, 2023, 04:06:06 PM
I only ever used these premium channels once, and never tried it again. In terms of win rate, they are really high, although most of them are games that we can easily predict without their help. Also, they don't have that much bets that get a lot of value so that's another thing that they failed to deliver on. 1.x odds are pretty common, though bets with 2.x odds are something that I don't see on them. They get you to profit, but it'll take a while before you break even from the expense you paid on subscribing to their channel.

1447  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How can we help to Bitcoin education? on: August 21, 2023, 03:33:33 PM

You are more mistaken than those who are having the idea of teaching bitcoin to elementary school students. They haven't even perfected their reading and writing skills, how can they even think of getting rich? They're just kids exploring the world and there's so much they need to learn and not finance is always an issue at any age. It is a foolish and short-sighted idea to think that it is possible to include bitcoin or financial education in the elementary school curriculum.

If you want to make money, you must first learn to be human, don't turn children who only know money without morality.

If you'd knew those kids nowadays then you might get it that those ideas come at early age.
Specially when kids receive Smartphones to keep them busy. Typical 1st world behavior.

What I want to ask is are you married and have children? Because I see you're pretty confident when you say elementary school kids have got the idea to get rich. Or are you just stating your opinion? They use smartphones proficiently, or they will imitate us saying they will do our work, they will invest in bitcoin to make a lot of money...But the fact that they understand what they are saying is what matters. I have 2 kids, and I know what kids that age want and need. I know what's good for my kids at that age, and certainly not bitcoin or teaching them money.

I agree with you, kids at such young age, only follow what they see from us adults and to assume that they fully understand what they are saying and doing is a major no. Kids, at the age being discussed, should be focused on learning basic skills (reading, writing, doing maths) and having fun. Why are you going to introduce something that is far beyond their cognitive skills to understand? Don't give such responsibility and pressure to kids, especially about money, you are basically taking their childhood fun away by doing that.

1449  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can everyone in the world have bitcoin. on: August 21, 2023, 02:58:06 PM
Not all 21 million of Bitcoin is still accessible and in circulation. Some owners have either died, not giving access to it, or some just gave up with their small fraction of Bitcoin (not caring what happens to it). So, is it possible for everyone to have Bitcoin? Yes, in small uneven fractions that some will not even be relevant to use. However, technically the answer is yes.

In reality, however, is that not everyone wants to do with anything related to Bitcoin, so will it matter? No. Hence, everyone can have Bitcoin but not everyone will even want it.
1450  Economy / Economics / Re: Big companies will never let you have the financial freedom on: August 21, 2023, 02:41:36 PM
Governments and private companies have different ways to reach the same goals. Both aim power, influence and overcontrol through centralization. They don't respect individuality. I believe at some point in the future we will have private companies ruling countries with greedy megalomaniacs such as Elon Musk in charge.

I'm not sure if individuals can do anything effective to protect themselves against these threats, but thankfully so far we still have decentralized Bitcoin which can't be manipulated by those entities on long term, guaranting us some autonomy and financial progression along the years.

That is true, no matter how much companies and governments promise that they are doing their best to ensure that their employees are growing the same way the company is growing, it is all but just a dream and empty promises. They do not really care about individual success and growth regarding their employees. After all, you are only of value to the company if you are contributing to them, they can careless what they can give to you.
1451  Economy / Economics / Re: How to developed your capital on: August 21, 2023, 06:56:08 AM
If you’re living in an Asian household/with a family that doesn’t mind you crashing in for a while so you can come up with the money for your business, do so. You’ll be surprised at how much you’ll be able to save especially with rent. If it comes to the point where you’re avle to start your business, it’s easier to hire relatives/family members too and they would appreciate the gesture as well as it means you’re trusting them.

It’s all about transparency and paying it back when you’re able to get your big break. So if your family doesnmt mind accommodating you as a youth while you setup your business and all that, might as well my friend.

Good point. Make the most of what you have, the connections and resources you already have allow you to have more. However, just a little side note, trust is very important in this aspect, as well as ensuring that you are not being taken advantage of and vice versa. As crazy as it sounds, you cannot fully trust anyone when it comes to business and money, even family. After all, money is the root of all evil. Hence, it is best to still keep some things only to yourself while expressing gratitude to those who helped you.
Both you guys make equally valid points. As a thriving businessman myself (I recently just opened a venture of my own which I'm really proud about), it is way easier to hire close friends, and family members since you don't need to screen them with interviews anymore, and you're able to place them in positions that you know they are capable of since you've known these people for a good while. And while the trust with money is true, I say that it's way easier to handle when you're the boss who pays these people. Long as you guys come up with a passable payment and have it signed through a contract, you guys should be good.

Utilizing your available resources is a perfect way to ensure that not only are you going to have the capabilities to come up with the capital, it's also going to ensure that your business stays afloat through thick and thin.

Thank you, and I agree with you on knowing the skills of your staff and workers, especially since you already know them closely. Additionally, the point about having a contract is a vital point as well, this will ensure that business is business and there are policies to follow, it also strengthens the trust between you and your workers (family or not).
1452  Economy / Economics / Re: It ain't meant to be easy on: August 21, 2023, 05:52:56 AM
We all wish life was easier, but it's not so we've got to make do with what we have.

The degree you want, the career you want, and the business you dream to have won't come easy. I'm of the notion that life doesn't want you to succeed. If you run away from every obstacle then you will never achieve your goal.

I keep seeing forum members make complaints about not getting merits and all. It will be very hypocritical of me to say we shouldn't care about merit and ranking up, but your desire to rank up should lead you in the right direction.
The goal is to learn and grow, then make meaningful contributions that can grow other forum members. It's not going to be easy, and it will take time, but it will be worth it in the end.

This doesn't only apply to the forum but to every aspect of life.
Take a business for example.
The goal of a business is to make a profit but you can't make a profit if certain things are not done right. If you just pursue profit without thinking about other factors, your business will fail.
If your product/service is top-notch, your marketing, packaging, and distribution are done right along with other factors, you will make a profit.
The same thing applies to every aspect of life. A degree, career, or anything at all.

Life itself is a journey of different paths and each person with their pathway in which you have to workout yourself along the way to be distinguished amidst those among you all that started in the journey. Every qualitative effort you put on the way has a consequence on your growth, less effort less growth much effort more growth.

Same way life applies in the forum too, every member is focusing on giving value, and the more your value the more you're recognize and rewarded (merited) by the worthiness of the value you give. And one such way to improve on your value in the forum is for you to learn relearn and creating a mentality of continuous learning only by so can anyone improve in their value and quality leading to their growth.  Generally in life if things are gotten easily and seamlessly, need will not be to strive for improvement.

Learning is equivalent to improvement. No matter what your journey of learning is, may it be full of hurdles and struggles or full of success along the way, still the endgame is you will be able to learn something. What to keep on doing and what not to do. Hence, learning is improvement in a way that you put what you learn to action.
1453  Economy / Economics / Re: Any business where today you launch, tomorrow you begin making profit...? on: August 21, 2023, 04:56:22 AM
Any business where today you launch, tomorrow you begin making profit...?

A friend of mine asking me a business idea, and he told me it is a big profit business idea, I'm missing out for not entertaining his advice! He told me everything would be smooth sailing, and very big profit too.
Then you should be careful because your friend might just be trying to introduce you to illegal business, because those are the business which you can easily make huge return within a short period of time, or your friend might just be trying to use that to trick you so that you will be interested in the business, which at the end he might end up scamming you, so be careful.

So the business should be: today I officially launch it, the next day, profit start rolling in, and it would last eternally, the income stream keep coming for the next 999 years, and it would be suffice to self sustain, self reliance include financing every operational cost by itself, and only happy ending. Not a single bad ending.
Every business involves growing which is a gradual process, you cant just start a business then you will start expecting profit instantly, i don't really think that's possible, anyone that introduce you to that kind of business might just be trying to scam you, so you have to be really careful. No one will establish a business and will be expecting a good profit the same they, don't be surprise that you might even be running at loss, or you wont make profit or loss.

There are small businesses that make fast profits, like buy and sell, as long as you are able to easily and quickly find customers and clients. However, if OP is looking for a high-profit one after a day then yes I agree with you that is most likely an illegal business. Additionally, a business that OP is describing requires big capital or illegal resources.
1454  Economy / Economics / Re: Real estate vs cryptocurrencies vs business on: August 21, 2023, 02:54:17 AM
Good land locations translate in high cost of investment  which is the ugly side about real estate...
True, that's why only the rich corporations are able to do that unless you're someone who's focused in real estate and is an individual that has a lot of resources and can take a loan and mortgage favored by the banks. Otherwise, you're just going to see the corporations that are on this industry to keep on developing those good locations and they will just rinse and repeat it. Still, you can do some scouting on other locations that are not yet swarmed by properties and companies haven't developed yet.

Exactly. And that is unfortunately something that many fail to either realize or they're just not aware of it. Land location is the core of high-cost investment for real estate. The better the location, the higher the profit. It is a common sense thing as no one will be likely to invest in a property that is in a bad location. Hence, you have to have the resources to find good land locations if you want to lock a good deal.
1455  Economy / Economics / Re: How to avoid over expenses and have discipline on: August 21, 2023, 01:21:45 AM
After setting a budget, list all of those expenses that you're about to spend so you will have a track on much is coming in and out for you.

Also when you're doing groceries, list all of the groceries that you're going to buy so that you won't overspend. And the same goes for eating out, before going to groceries, eat at home if you don't intend to eat outside.

Don't let yourself hungry when you pick those groceries because you will overspend and will make you pick those foods that you're craving for.

I like how you suggest doing grocery shopping fully, to ensure that you don't buy anything you don't necessarily need and are not on your list. More often than not, we buy foods that we only want for a day and then let it rot in our fridge and pantry after. Sticking with the grocery list you make is always the best thing to do, and ensuring that is what happens of course adds more.
1456  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What micro games is best for you? on: August 20, 2023, 11:39:21 PM
Mines is something that I enjoy. There isn't much money to be had on this game but it sure does help me kill time. Though if you increase your bet size, it's extremely rewarding and can get you hooked for hours on end. I'd say that this game with dice are my go-to 'micro games' whenever I have the chance to gamble. Laid-back gaming without much pressure in strategies or anything.
1457  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🕹️ Esports 🎮 Prediction & Discussion Thread on: August 20, 2023, 11:11:55 PM
Current series is Nouns vs Dogchamp and out of nowhere the courier bug is back again on a TI qualifier game...like come one Valve , fix Dota already.

There are always some of these 'minor' bugs that appear out of nowhere whenever TI qualifiers is starting. I don't get why the devs don't put out a stable release a few days before the qualifiers start. I'm pretty sure they have eyes and ears to reddit and other social channels where players are voicing out their concerns on these annoying bugs that plague the game.

I'm curious as to what other bugs there may be in the coming days as the qualifiers progress..
1458  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The fight between Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk. Who you betting on? on: August 20, 2023, 10:27:44 PM
Elon Musk will come up with "crazy genius" ideas that he is known for, and it will not work and he will say that he was "ready to fight but Mark didn't want to do it that way". I mean he could even say that he will go to Space with his spaceships and then fight there with him, and when Mark refuses then Elon will say "as you can see he refused the fight!!". Its really stupid, just do it, you need a ref and a ring that's it, even a single cam from someone shooting it with their phones would be enough at this point, all people would care about would be seeing one of them win, not the fight itself. Its %100 obvious that he is going to end up losing and that is why he is making these moves.

Zuck already dropped the idea and is looking to focus on his next fight with 'real' fighters based on his new post in Threads. He's already not interested since he knows that Elon is just bluffing, and he already offered tons of things to set the fight up and still, nothing is happening. I guess Mark no longer wants to be involved in this cheap marketing gimmick that Elon Musk is trying to do for himself.
1459  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cockfighting? on: August 20, 2023, 09:55:10 PM
You're out of luck. No crypto gambling platform offers such lines. There are some fiat gambling platforms out there that offer this exact gambling game, so perhaps you might want to try that out. As for Filipino cockfighting events and lines, they do that locally ever since the previous administration banned the said activity, so it'll be a tough one to look for online betting platforms.
1460  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling effects on LGBTQ+ People on: August 20, 2023, 09:13:03 PM
lol this is pathetic.  I'm just going to bluntly say this because it needs to be said, if you're a homophobe and treat people differently because their gay, then you're small minded scumbag.  Period. I have no respect for people who can't accept others.  I know there's plenty of people on this forum from backwards ass nations where being gay can mean penalty of death and it just boggles my mind that we are still having to deal with this nonsense.

Equality for all, black, white, man, woman, gay, straight...who the f cares!  We are all humans, but all of our genetic makeups are different and how people can't understand that I will never understand.

It's easy accepting people whom have different gender preference than everyone else. Idk why it has to result in discrimination if people can just ignore or move along if it isn't their cup of tea. Also, in gambling, if those members of the LGBTQ+ are paying for whatever they are gambling, why would people still bother them if they are doing things normally anyway in that gambling house?

I would never understand people fully. They will always find a reason to hate no matter what.
