441  Economy / Economics / Re: The steps to follow in creating a budget on: January 01, 2024, 11:20:53 PM
I have built budget trackers for years, and one thing I love doing is overestimating how much my expenses will be so that I will be holding on to it religiously and not dare overspend. Whatever's left by the end of the month gets carried over to the next month or straight down to my savings. If my budget for the month is $3000, I make sure that I put in $2800 in there and just leave $200 'extra' that goes directly into savings. I try to envision the 'worst-case scenario' for my utilities and bills, and honestly that saves me a lot of money as it prevents me from spending extra money and thinking that I still have a lot to work with.

I would like to see some apps can help with this. I am of the opinion that if you write down your budget on a piece of paper, you take it more seriously than when it is on an app. With a paper budget or in a spreadsheet, you can easily see it without distraction but on a app, the ads and in-app purchases that comes with it will be too distracting. Also, it is easier to write a budget when you live in a country without a high inflation rate or one facing recession.

most apps are set to certain format  that dont work for everyone. your best bet is to make your own spreadsheet in your own design you are happy with. because most apps can display spreadsheets. that way its fully custom to the way you prefer

like having separate spreadsheet tabs for food budget
budget [    ]    spent so far [    ]    left to spend [    ]
where the 'spent so far' is a total of another list on same tab you add/update during the month and then the spreadsheet deducts total spent against the budget to tell you whats left

then you can just copy and paste your template as 12 separate spreadsheets to edit per month

I agree with this. I used online trackers and created notion templates or used mobile apps but it didn't do well for me. Spreadsheets, however, made me have a huge control over tracking and made me really dig deeper into how much I'm saving, and over time I added some more cool features to it like getting the percentage of how I spent month-on-month and see whether I'm saving more or saving less as the year progresses. It helps you get extra aware of how your money is flowing and where is it heading compared to apps that gives you pre-defined templates and cannot edit it based on what features you are thinking to add.
442  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Online or offline gambling which is more safer? on: January 01, 2024, 10:59:38 PM
Answer: neither.

Physical casinos are a lot more dangerous to your budget than you think. ATMs are widely accessible, and there are people out there who offer to buy your gadgets or even your car if you get desperate to get some funds. In online casinos, only your debit card is at stake, as most of the gambling platforms out there have already stopped accepting credit cards for deposits. At the end of the day, it is your capacity to avoid the temptation of going over your budget. The sensation of needing to get back your loss is always strong no matter which platform you play on.
443  Economy / Economics / Re: Wealthy people want profit without much of liabilities so you should follow them on: January 01, 2024, 10:41:52 PM
Owning real estate properties is only good if you are swimming in cash and are looking for properties to buy that can hold its value for a long time. If you aren't really that much of a deep pocket, buying real estate is not for you, and so REIT was introduced. This removes all the liabilities and risk from you and passes it over to a company that manages these properties and are looking for investors to develop these properties. In turn, whatever profit they generated, they share with you depending on your share of the pot. Lots of middle-class people can easily be a part of this but chooses not to as they choose spending over investing, unfortunately.

Even with the overall positive gain from REITs, it still can't outperform bitcoin or crypto for that matter. The only difference is, you carry 100% of the risk, and you don't have other people guiding you with your investments. It's just you and you alone. This isn't so bad after all, considering that even if you encountered crashes while holding your bitcoin, there is a high possibility that you will regain the value of your coins eventually.

It's good to follow how the rich generates money. Then again, these people are already loaded and have a lot of freedom to choose whichever income-generating asset they want to hold, unlike us people who are looking to get something out of our meager salaries or savings.
444  Economy / Gambling / Re: Powerball btc on: January 01, 2024, 10:18:13 PM
Lotteries are a no-go in the crypto gambling scene. A lot of people will argue that the game will be rigged and there is no way to confirm its legality, nor the authenticity and integrity of every draw. There had been lots of similar ideas in the past that simply didn't work out because the community understands that this is not something that is going to work nor win them money.

People will certainly stick to casino games though, as they think that these platforms are legitimate enough to not on them of their money due to their licensing and all those kinds of stuff. There are no guarantees of winning on casinos either, but the odds of people winning on them is kinda high compared to lotteries.
445  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Mayweather vs Pacquiao II on: January 01, 2024, 09:39:00 PM
Pacquiao has been wanting to get a fight for years, and it's only in Mayweather that he wants to get that itch scratched. If it's an exhibition game, I'm pretty sure these two will still not hold back and just get it done with. My money is on Pacquiao with this one, even though we know Floyd is just so good in defense. Hopefully this materializes and we have something to watch in the summer.
446  Economy / Gambling / Re: ✨ Shuffle.com | The next generation of crypto casinos | Sports, Casino + token on: December 31, 2023, 06:58:45 PM
ndumm and Shuffle admins, a mere suggestion. Because of the current network congestion happening in the Bitcoin network caused by Ordinals/BRC-20, may I suggest that the casino consider accepting Bitcoin deposits/withdrawals through the Lightning Network? I believe it could also be an opportunity to promote Lightning as an alternative and widen your network of users as well.

Perhaps giving free-spins/bonuses for every deposit through Lightning might encourage Bitcoiners to open a new path/method to use Bitcoin?

A noble suggestion, but as someone who has used altcoins during these congestions and still get to convert my coins to btc afterwards, I think it wouldn't be necessary. Not that I'm against LN or layer 2 in general, but if altcoins work quite well when btc is having a lot of problems due to network congestion, the effort to add LN functionality in the deposit/withdrawals will just be wasted. That resource could have been funneled elsewhere that helps the whole player base experience rather than catering to a select few that wants this to get done.

Also, even with the high fees, there's not a lot of people who are using LN anyways.
447  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is the perception of people about gamblers in your neighborhood? on: December 31, 2023, 06:36:11 PM
Gamblers are seen as someone who have deep pockets. This is so because most of the influencers that stream their games often win, hence the connotation that there are a lot of gamblers that also win a lot on their games. There are still some negative connotations when it comes to gamblers, but currently our communities hold them as somewhat 'financially capable' because they have the money to blow on such things. It's pretty weird, but that's what it is here.
448  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Inoue vs Casimero (possible fight in 2024) Let's discuss! on: December 31, 2023, 06:14:42 PM
Casimero will just shut down by Inoue when this happened. Inoue is not a joke anymore while his skills is downgrade significantly base on both recent fight. I’m not sure anymore how he can beat Inoue when this match happened.

This will still be a hype if Casimero last fight resulted in a convincing manner. He might suffer the same fate of Tapales if he is still living in a dream that he is the only one who can stop Inoue.

Casimero should not aim for another Inoue fight any time soon but rather just get a lot more experience in his current weight division. Get matched with different prime fighters, be comfortable with the weight division, then challenge Inoue. The Japanese seemed to be staying in this weight class, too, although there aren't many fighters left for him to conquer. Hopefully Casimero and his team gets level-headed and not change for revenge immediately but rather, strengthen their fighter further. An Inoue fight is a big paycheck, but certainly not a good record if you are on the losing side.
449  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Answer this Gambling Question on Duration of Joy after a win or loss on: December 31, 2023, 05:25:20 PM
It's a very subjective question. No one can answer that on your behalf, and you can't answer that on other's behalf as well. Other people might feel the euphoria for days or even weeks, and others might feel that same feeling for only a few minutes. It's just entirely different for different people, and there's not a definitive way to know or measure that exactly.
450  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How should Lotteries be categorized? on: December 28, 2023, 11:53:26 PM
It's still a gambling game through and through. You are risking something in the hopes of gaining something in return. You are playing with chances to get the profit, and the odds are also always in favor of the house which are always stacked against you. You can't categorize it any other way, as you cannot treat this as an investment because you are always guaranteed to lose, and you are not owning a piece of something to get the return. It's a simple gambling game, and I guess that's just it.
451  Economy / Economics / Re: Why must you used such money to purchased a car? on: December 28, 2023, 11:36:29 PM
That Rolls-Royce car can be an investment in itself. Those cars can fetch to millions of dollars more than their original value if kept properly for a long time. I'm sure your friend (if he really exists) is well-off, enough to purchase that car without regard with his future. Also, most of the younger generations right now are impulsive and based their purchase decisions with their emotions. If you made your move in giving him some advice, I think that's enough already. If he moves forward with these decisions, you have no liability with the consequences at all.
452  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin as a Replacement for a College Savings Plan on: December 28, 2023, 11:15:04 PM
I guess at this point, if college is a no-go for most people, the funds that they could have used to that route could be diverted to them learning skills or trades that will further their careers. While a degree may not always be necessary to apply for jobs in the future, some classes are still needed in order to 'formally' learn the techniques of a certain skill. This pushes your skill level a bit which makes you hireable than the others, and it wouldn't happen if you haven't taken those classes.

Keeping some bitcoin funds is a good way to potentially secure your future. Then again, it is not free from volatility and crashes so you shouldn't bet your 100% to it. At least, diversify your savings and keep a bulk of bitcoin if that's how you want to play your game.
453  Economy / Gambling / Re: Blackjack.fun on: December 28, 2023, 10:56:18 PM
Played with them before and even joined their signature campaign at some point. If they locked their thread, that just means that they are going inactive or have an active scam accusation that they are trying to avoid. Best to do at this point is not try to play with them at all. Better save your money and play elsewhere that has an active discussion thread here with real individuals discussing the site.
454  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Inoue vs Tapales for Unified Super Bantamweight Title - December 26 on: December 28, 2023, 09:32:57 PM
result match inoue win with KO in ronde 10
but the match was very exciting and interesting
but tapales this boxer from the philippines is still outclassed.

I don't know what's wrong about tapales cause what I saw is the opposite of my expectations cause he is not just very aggressive cause he is always waiting the right time which is he control his punches he didn't throw so much punches  while Inoue punch him so much and in the round 4 we saw that tapales was hit a good shot and that's the reason why Inoue getting more aggressive because of that knockout.

With an enemy like Inoue, I don't think Tapales can afford himself being open and getting that knockout punch early in the round. Throwing punches means you are leaving yourself temporarily open to any counters, and it's just the right decision for him to take his time and wait for the perfect punch. I just think that he kind of overdid it and became very defensive which ultimately led to his demise. Inoue just studied him for a few rounds on how he defends and how he tries to get that distance, but man Inoue is just something else.

I'm pretty sure Tapales is okay with the result going so far as taking the bout to the distance. 10 rounds with someone who's deemed to be the best boxer in the division is no easy feat AT ALL.

There's nothing wrong with Tapales it just happened that he is facing a monster who is notorious for knocking out his opponents, he was fully aware of all of this because he had watched all of Inoue's fights and he was just making sure that he was well defended and at the same trying to impose his offense and plan, I'm proud of Tapales because he hurt and back down Inoue in some rounds but the gap in power and speed was just too obvious.
Tapales' only consolation is he made a lot of money in this fight and that will help him and his loved ones.

Exactly. Inoue is on another level, while Tapales still needs to grind to be there but I'm pretty sure he's on his way to it. It's not a bad fight either! I enjoyed watching it live even though I know what the outcome will be. I expected worse from Tapales, but man he has the power but just not the speed that Inoue all carries.
455  Economy / Economics / Re: How to gain money on: December 27, 2023, 10:42:11 PM
Well, you surely have to work for it. Unfortunately, money doesn't just fall from the sky or magically appear in our bank accounts. So, if we take away all of the things you have stated then what would be left is to offer your talent or services or sell products. Essentially, you have to still invest your own work, time, and a bit of money to gain money. With how the world is going today, if you're not willing to do that then it'll either be really difficult or just straight impossible. You also have to be smart, just because you already have the money in your possession it doesn't really mean you already gained as you can only say you have gained if it is a profit meaning you are getting a positive balance and not negatives. Gaining money doesn't simply mean you have the money one day then it'll be gone the next day. Gaining means securing or increasing the amount of rate of something which in this context is money.
456  Economy / Economics / Re: Sometimes tips the securities at the mall or local shops on: December 27, 2023, 10:26:18 PM
Giving tips is a good practice, of course. However, there are still factors that we need to consider before doing so. For example, are their employees or the management they are working under allowing them to accept tips? We have to remember that some management has a policy regarding their employees accepting any kind of compensation from clients or customers outside their actual bills. We need to be mindful about this as instead of providing help we might even cause them to have problems in their work. Another factor is if it is financially okay for us, what I mean by this is if our financial capacity or status allows us to do so then go ahead. However, we should still keep in mind that giving tips is not mandatory and should just be done when you have the means to do so.
457  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who is wiser? on: December 27, 2023, 10:00:15 PM
First of all, I'll just lay out my answer from the variables or information given and state that Mr. Bob is the wiser among the three.

However, if we are being more critical about this then it is pretty evident to state that we don't have much information actually to make a decision. For example, in which time frame is this scenario? What's the economy like? What's the status of cryptocurrency? How long have they been investing/holding? Are we talking about the actual money they have or the money they are prepared to lose? Have they considered the risks or is this just based on their own decisions as they are still new to all of this?

If we think about those things then it is possible that there are scenarios when Bob is wiser among the three of them, and there are also scenarios wherein Ms. Alice is the wisest, and of course, instances wherein Mr. Theymos is the one to make a wiser decision.

Regardless, if we go up front with just the exact statements given by OP then I'd say Mr. Bob. The reason is simple, it's a no-brainer move and much efficient.
458  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The future of Bitcoin as digital currency on: December 27, 2023, 09:48:19 PM
No government should prohibit the ownership of this technology

. I mean this is freedom money just like national value is freedom and bitcoin
Is the word dream money.

Someone very wise say if you're born poor you die poor and I quote

But with bitcoin if you're born poor and get education and you work hard you
Can be any thing you want.

But the way we can achieve more of the dream is  when bitcoin freedom is
Intact and when are able to save bitcoin for our future and our family.thats what bitcoin is all about.

Your statement reflects a strong belief in the potential of Bitcoin as a means of financial freedom and opportunity, emphasizing its decentralization and potential to empower individuals regardless of their economic background. You're highlighting several key points:

### 1. Freedom and Ownership

You advocate for the freedom to own and transact in Bitcoin without government prohibition, emphasizing that Bitcoin represents a form of "freedom money" akin to national values associated with freedom.

### 2. Financial Empowerment

You highlight Bitcoin's potential to break traditional economic barriers, suggesting that through education and hard work, individuals can improve their economic status, portraying Bitcoin as a tool that transcends socioeconomic limitations.

### 3. Future Financial Security

You express the importance of saving Bitcoin for the future, emphasizing its role in securing financial stability for oneself and future generations.

### 4. Bitcoin's Essence

You assert that Bitcoin's core essence lies in its ability to provide financial freedom, security, and opportunities to individuals who engage with it, making it more than just a digital currency.

Your viewpoint aligns with the ideological foundations of Bitcoin as a decentralized, borderless, and censorship-resistant currency, promoting the idea of financial inclusivity and self-sovereignty.

It's important to note that while many share this viewpoint, the regulatory landscape around Bitcoin varies globally, with different governments and regulatory bodies having varying stances and policies regarding its use, ownership, and regulation. Discussions around the regulatory framework of Bitcoin often involve complex considerations regarding financial systems, security, taxation, and consumer protection.

Advocating for Bitcoin's freedom aligns with the ethos of many within the cryptocurrency community, who believe in its potential to redefine financial systems, enhance financial inclusion, and provide individuals with greater control over their financial destinies.

I honestly couldn't have said it any better. While it is true that there are unquestionable advantages and abilities that Bitcoin can provide to various states and counties that legalize its use, we can't also ignore the fact that there are various factors that need to be considered here. Moreover, reiterating what you have stated it is without a doubt true that different countries run different governments and regulations that are vital in making significant decisions or changes such as the legalization or acceptance of a different currency as it will prove to provide a significant change in the market and economy of the country as a whole. Hence, it should be considered that while legalizing Bitcoin may work for some, there is also a high probability that it will not work for others as differences and gaps exist.
459  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: License: is it a guarantee? on: December 27, 2023, 08:26:12 PM
Having a license on a casino does not guarantee that they will not scam other people. It's just a proof that they are allowed to operate their activities. They can still scam other people and be lost without a trace. With a lot of people getting their identities stolen by fraudulent entitie, it's not impossible that these licenses are registered with fake identities leading to other people. So yeah, even if a casino has a license to operate, never put 100% of your trust to them at all.
460  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Should mentally unstable people be allowed to gamble? on: December 27, 2023, 07:04:11 AM
Gambling platforms are entertainment places and not mental institutions. I think in letting the platform ban people who are mentally unstable/has mental illness will do more harm to them than good. It could be used against them on the grounds of discrimination, which is a very common angle through which people use to gain a hefty paycheck. No one can really know if a person is going through some mental illness or not. I've seen and talked to a lot of people who behave erratically but are really sane people with a lot of substance and depth than what they appear to be.

It is morally right to bar people who is going through some form of mental illness to something that could further destroy them. Then again, gambling places are there to entertain people whilst taking huge money from its patron, and not judge people based on what they appear from the outside.
