1501  Other / Off-topic / Re: How many of you signature campaign posters sell your coins once you received it? on: April 22, 2015, 02:43:49 PM
I never sell coins. The reason I have bitcoin is because I want bitcoin. My bitcoin is bitcoin my fiat is fiat

Do you spend them at some point or are you simply 'hoarding' them forever? One thing to consider is: You never actually make a profit unless you realize your gains at some point (sell your investment).

We need a new Willy bot or mass adoption to reach the point when it worth to realize profit Smiley.
1502  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Police Force Quits After Black Woman Elected Mayor on: April 22, 2015, 01:48:57 PM
No more killing random black people?

Good question. What I mean is something more simple like relocating the police office, decreasing the budget, forcing them to use environmental friendly plastic bullets instead of good ole' FMJs, whatever.
1503  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Dutyfree.io - Buy cheap cigarettes with Bitcoin on: April 22, 2015, 01:12:17 PM
Any experience with shipping to the UK? A few years ago I've got my posted cigarettes seized, so I'm a bit worried.
1504  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin - platform of the future for casino? on: April 22, 2015, 01:03:07 PM
As far as I can remember there is an altcoin with distributed online casino function. So he could be right.

I consider their research as "marketing activity" Smiley.
1506  Other / Off-topic / Re: How many of you signature campaign posters sell your coins once you received it? on: April 22, 2015, 12:57:40 PM
I doubt the few bitcoins earned each from signature campaigns really matters much to the market Grin  You should make the decision to hold or sell based on other factors.  Hodling has always been a very good strategy up to now with bitcoin why should it change?

Especially at the current rates Smiley.
1507  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Police Force Quits After Black Woman Elected Mayor on: April 22, 2015, 12:54:08 PM
Anyone knows her program? Is there anything what can have an impact on the police force? Maybe the officers choose to quit because of they didn't liked something in her plans and not because of they are racists. We know nothing about their real motives.
1508  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin mining solving equations, what it actually is? on: April 22, 2015, 12:32:24 PM
Bitcoin miners are working on a very complicated mathematical puzzle that seeks the answer to: "What do we do with this extra electricity?"

This is the best explanation what I ever heard Smiley.
1509  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Trustee Opens Formal Claims Process for Mt Gox Customers on: April 22, 2015, 12:29:36 PM
Mt Gox customers can now formally make a claim against the defunct exchange, with the potential to receive their payout in bitcoin.

The process is being overseen by exchange Kraken, appointed to assist Mt Gox's bankruptcy trustee Nobuaki Kobayashi last November.

According to instructions posted on the Mt Gox homepage, account holders have until 29th May (Japan time) to fill out forms directly from the site, or open an account with Kraken and begin from there.

Well, this is good news for ppl who lost money on Gox, I guess. At least they can get a partial reimbursement.
1510  Other / Off-topic / Re: How many of you signature campaign posters sell your coins once you received it? on: April 22, 2015, 12:24:11 PM
How many coins do you guys earn posting in say 12 months?

I'm a senior member in about 3 weeks.

What could I earn in 12 months as a senior member?

I have a fairly decent sized stash that I HODL but I might aswell earn by posting like everybody else.

I can't tell you an exact number the amount depends on the market price and on my availability.
1511  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Interpol Builds Their Own Digital Currency on: April 22, 2015, 12:19:02 PM
Perhaps they want find out/practice how to track transactions. For Interpol such experiments can be useful.
1512  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does Bitcoin Has What It Takes To Replace Fiat? on: April 22, 2015, 12:15:54 PM
Does he have to check whether the credit card payment is valid or wait to see if the card is going to be chargebacked or has been stolen x amount of days later? Payment processors are used with both cash cards and bitcoin and they will protect against this sort of stuff but regardless once coins are sent they're as good as spent the vast majority of the time.

With a credit card payment you can be quite sure about that you will get your money. Your shop insurance can cover losses from credit card fraud, so there are no need to check it, if the bank accepted the transaction.
1513  Other / Politics & Society / Re: US Warships in Yemen. Why? on: April 22, 2015, 12:04:17 PM
if they already have a couple ships in the area, then having a Aircraft Carrier is overkill. Saudi and Egypt have already sent ships so there's a lot of Naval presence there. Definitely ulterior motives in place and flexing their strength to the world.

What is the cost associated with having one of these Aircraft Carriers out on the sea for a day or week etc. Can anyone with knowledge give some insight?

From Wiki: "The daily operating cost of a carrier strike group is estimated at $6.5 million."
1514  Other / Politics & Society / Re: US Warships in Yemen. Why? on: April 22, 2015, 11:58:26 AM
BTW have they rescued the US citizens who got stuck in Yemen?
1515  Other / Off-topic / Re: How many of you signature campaign posters sell your coins once you received it? on: April 22, 2015, 11:56:31 AM
I 'm used to hold about 90% of the received coins and using cca. 10% for some playing on Cryptsy and Bittrex. Cashing out would be quite senseless at the current prices.
1516  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why Google Is the New Evil Empire on: April 22, 2015, 11:50:14 AM
The ownership is with the content creator, the owner itself, so I would like to maintain(and pay) for my website and blog, hosting my images and even maintain and install my own crawler to find things I like and people who want to share. It is owned by yourself and therefore you can decide what to share and with whom!

For economics sake there is money to be made of me, but not indirect by selling my personal data, only direct for me to secure my private data and keep it in my own hands. I can buy a crawler, an app, some storage space. But then again, why and how should an open network like that be able to keep google and facebook out? They have the means and power to overtake and ruin it again by supplying and then when people are hooked again make it a closed community again.

The digital age is all about addiction and keeping people addicted. All marketing is directed towards that goal. Keep them coming back for more only to sell them more.

With google the main thing isn't the crawler or the indexed database but the business intelligence behind the service what provides correct answers quickly. Such systems are not a fire and forget stuff but something what needs constant tweaking and a lot of maintenance. This is what you can't really get with the existing distributed search engines, and something what the local sysadmin guy will not provide for you. BTW for example Yacy is a good tool for indexing and searching local stuff on my network, but not working very well as a generic Google like search engine.
1517  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why Google Is the New Evil Empire on: April 22, 2015, 11:05:53 AM

Unfortunately Yacy not working very well. Last time when I tried by searching for "aruba 7030 short on storage" I've got this as the second most relevant hit (the first most relevant was completely unrelated too):
"??NASTY LADIES WANT MEN FOR CASUAL SEX?? Www.swanson vitamins.com 822 2100429 Complete urological evaluation."

So today it's only good for laughing on the results Smiley.
1518  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why Google Is the New Evil Empire on: April 22, 2015, 10:58:59 AM
It is freaky to realise how many people, including myself rely on those big internet players. Most of my friends and family, there is no internet, there is Google and Facebook and for some, Google is just a way to type 'facebook' and see the internet just as that, internet equals facebook, the wet dream of Zuckerberg and the likes. Why do we so heavily depend on those centralised, closed and totaly evil systems?

Would be a great sullotion if there was a true, decentralised and open social networking protocol, XML RSS or whatever that would be ready to let you share from where you are willing to put it, be it a personal website or a wordpress blog, the data is stored localy, the search is done with your personal crawler that crawls your selected feeds and tries to find feeds that are open and related to your search by empowering the crawlers of others, you become a node sending your feed, only that what you want and getting only what others want to share. You do not need big data centers if all node crawl together and share.

It should be back to the drawing board for the true geeks again and like Satoshi revolutionise something that has been doing Evil for Google is the Empire and it is striking back with force.

There is an issue with decentralized stuff. It's owned by no one therefore no one want to maintain it. I'm afraid we'll be dependent on companies like Google for a while.

Slower than the 2 days it takes credit card payments to go from pre-authorized to cleared? Nope, a TX can be verified to comprise valid UXTOs and not be at risk of double-spending in muuuuuuch less time than 2 days.

Wait a minute pls! I'm just trying to imagine and visualize the bloke in the off-licence shop around 11pm as he checking the TX for valid UXTOs Smiley.
