My Ubuntu client doesn't have any menu options that I can see. I just have 6 buttons across the top that say Overview, Send Coins, Receive Coins, Transactions, Address Book and Export.
Do more options become available once it has fully synchronized with the network?

You suffer from the no icon/no menu bug on ubuntu 12.04 and 12.10. No worries.

You can just start it from the command line with
Code:
$ bitcoin-qt -detachdb=1
and when you close it it will do the same thing.

tldoctor: 1.5 BTC from me for the comprehensive and credit reports on Trendon Shavers from Mckinney, TX.
The 1.5 should cover your prices since you seem not to have updated your BTC prices on the OP.
1523  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin-Qt / bitcoind version 0.8.0 release candidate 1 on: February 10, 2013, 06:54:10 PM
It even solved the status bar icon/menus not showing problem.

I remember there was an open issue on Github, was that yours? Perhaps you can add that update there and close the ticket.

Thanks,
Dia

I thought that was solved. It seems it isn't. Just now opened it again and the icon and menus are gone, despite being there the previous 5 or 6 times I started Bitcoin-Qt 0.8.0-RC1 since I installed it.

First, fire up the Ubuntu client with the previous wallet.dat it had, go to options and select Detach Databases on shutdown.
Stop bitcoin. It will take a few minutes to stop completely. Replace the wallet.dat with the Windows one, and fire it up again and see if it works.
If it doesn't you can always try to start bitcoin-qt from the command line with the -salvagewallet flag and see if it fixes the wallet. Or maybe try the salvagewallet command first.

The *nix x64 binary works wonderfully on Ubuntu 12.04 64bits.
It even solved the status bar icon/menus not showing problem.

Downloaded and verified the complete blockchain in less than 5 hours on a 2.2GHz Pentium dual-core laptop with 4GB RAM.

0.8 RC1 will solve your problem.
My 2.2GHz dual-core laptop with 4GB of RAM downloaded the blockchain from scratch in less than 5 hours yesterday.
I've run it with dbcache=1500

1528  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Announcing BitcoinGet.com - New site to get FREE bitcoins on: February 10, 2013, 01:41:48 AM
So that's why Cointube and free.btc.pt doesn't pay either?  Huh

Sorry? Free.BTC.pt pays.
Some video campaigns are pulled out while users watch videos, so they are  not rewarded for a view on a campaign which doesn't exist. But that happens maybe once in 10 videos, it's not like you watch 1 video and doesn't credit the others, like happens here.

Enough thread crapping from me.

And karlzt, I have my own thread. If you have any complaints I'll appreciate it if you post there.
1529  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: FREE BITCOINS for watching videos! - Free.BTC.pt on: February 10, 2013, 01:35:29 AM
Double rewards promotion on the videos is finished now.

BUT...

I upped the Video reward from 20 000 Satoshis to 30 000 Satoshis, so you won't notice that much of a difference. This rising Bitcoin price really doesn't let me go above the 30k Satoshis, especially after running for a week with double rewards.

Captchas are kept at 1000 Satoshis for each correctly solved captcha.

The Offers page was renamed to Satoshis' Millions! and we have more offers available.
Rewards vary between 250 000 to 15 MILLION Satoshis!
1530  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Anyone else hate posting restrictions? on: February 10, 2013, 01:10:23 AM
What I really hate are thread-starting newbies who complaint about posting restrictions.

I don't know, it just seems like I'm wasting my time, and other peoples, writing and reading posts about people wanting to have access to other areas.

BTW, you sent me your LAN IP: 192.168.x.x
I need to know the WAN IP, but that would be something you would need to see when the matter happened, as by now you can have a new IP if your connection is dynamic.

I sent u the IP info on ur site using the contact tab, hope that helps.

There's no registration of that IP completing any offer.
There's nothing I can do.
1533  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: FREE BITCOINS for watching videos! - Free.BTC.pt on: February 09, 2013, 12:04:46 AM
Just removed all the Mobile offers, the ones where one needs to put the cell number and subscribe to some shit. Left the others. They are working as just now 3 were completed.
1534  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: FREE BITCOINS for watching videos! - Free.BTC.pt on: February 08, 2013, 10:40:36 PM
the problem i get sometimes is that after the video ends i close it properly and even after refresh i don't get the
sitoshis. is this a bug?
perhaps the offer has been finished before the video ending?

I came here about that too. I just watched the video that was for offer today from start to end and closed it. Didn't get any sitoshis for it.

That redirection screen seems to be fixed though, popped up every time I logged in yesterday. Didn't happen this time.

The video thing happens sometimes. It's only bad when you're in a country with not many videos.

Remember guys, I'm offering 1 MILLION Satoshis extra to the first user to complete an offer on the Million Satoshis Page in the next hour, so you'll get 2 MILLION Satoshis.

For more pressing matters you can use the Chat on the site: http://free.btc.pt/chat/

That's the answer. Most videos have a daily view limit. If that limit is reached while you are watching the video but before you reach the reward point, the video campaign is pulled, and although your view might have counted for youtube, it will not be registered by the tracking software because the campaign is no longer alive and you will not get the credit(nor will I) for watching it.

I just attempted to register and log in and I keep getting:
"Access Denied. Your site administrator has blocked your access to the WordPress back-office."
WTF?

Problem with the redirection after registration. You are already logged in. Just visit http://free.btc.pt and you'll see you're logged in.
Need to fix that redirect.

EDIT: Should be fixed. Keyword: should.

I promised to myself at a young age that I would stay away from any kind of political organization.
I fully support Bitcoin, not the politics around it.

If all you care about is "going home at the end of the day" don't become a cop.  Find a different job more suitable for giant quivering pussies.

This, this, this!

One problem with these sites is that the videos usually suck. Someone should build one where you watch porn videos for btc  Cheesy

LMAO

Ok man, I resent you the lost withdrawal and from now on will always double check the addresses before pressing send, so this is the first and last time this happens. A rework of the withdrawal page will also help lol
