I will announce the precise rules of the contest tomorrow. Meanwhile here are all the artworks that you will need to make:

Logo:

Splash screen (you can make it with different dimensions if you want):

Image in the 'About' dialog (it doesn't need to be vertical, you can make it horizontal):

lol. Its already done. Smiley

Good day. I mined for several hours, but didn't receive any coins. So it should be? Thanks.
What is your hashrate? Have you mined at least one block?

Hashrate lowly - 40kH/s.
I opened my wallet and pushed the button "Start mining". Is that enough? Do i need writing anything in console?

P.s. Sorry for the stupid questions.
Heh, I left my laptop mining all day once. It was mining at 10 kh/s and it found a block.
Ha! I knew it was somewhere here NoobKidOnTheBlock.

Somebody really forgot that there is second exchange. These who bought at 450-1300 still can sell SPR 1500 on allcrypt (and don't forget about LTC orders). In other hand, someone was selling at allcypt 1500 when there was 2000 order on betasharex at same time.

Panic miners panic. SPR is too good to sell.

Look where we are now! Not even more than 2 months and we are 82 times bigger then that.
1582  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Vote for FindCoin's Specs [Faucet Distribution] on: December 19, 2014, 04:01:13 AM
my vote for 1 day. It is a green coin. No energy waste for mining and no energy waste for distribution.
=No value.

Why is bitcoin so expensive? because the miners need to pay for their electricity and if bitcoin is $1 then they won't be able to mine. The bitcoin price is basically the cost to mine 1/25th of a block.

No those are all desktops my friend Smiley So you think like maybe an i7 and get the R9 290x myself and attach it to the desktop? or something like that lol
If you can afford to pay an extra $300.

Ok guys here is the batch file that I made. It creates a mining batch file for you.
I hope it is noob friendly.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/s71ju7vjwkaj3q9/SpreadcoinMinerConfig.bat?dl=0

Please post suggestions to help improve it.

Make sure to put the .bat file into the same directory as the miner.

Once it finishes it creates spreadcoinminer.bat, and you run this to mine.

Maybe I can make back my lost coins from donations. Smiley
So when I download this dropbox file thingy where do I put it? Cause I'll tell you if it works and gladly give you some SPREAD if it helps me get more hash outta my miner but I'm so Noobish I need direct step by step instructions to do this shit lol
Make sure to put the .bat file into the same directory as the miner.

It won't really help you get more hashes. It just creates the batch file you use to mine.
ya but I can just click mining in my spread wallet so what would this do that is different?
click mining in the spread wallet is CPU mining, which you can hardly mine anything now with the net hashrate of 2.8GH/s.
okay but how will I still find out what my RPCusername and RPCpassphrase is?
If you have a laptop and you don't have an amd graphics card then this probably won't help you. Sorry. But when you get your desktop for Christmas then it will. (if it has an AMD card)
Ya I know I will have quite the state of the art top of the line gaming desktop if I get what I want Smiley Any suggestions by anyone what kind of desktop I should invest in like totally top of the line!!!
Try to get one with an R9 290X AMD graphics card. I have one and it is a really good miner.

You don't have to "find out", you can make it whatever you want. Just edit the spreadcoin.conf file.
The batch file actually opens the Spreadcoin.conf file or asks you to create one if you don't have one. Then it tells you to add the mining info to the file. And asks for the username and password.

WTF market is disabled! https://betasharex.com/trade/SPR/BTC
I just sold 600 coins to buy some cheap here and i find out it is disabled! WTF!

betasharex has had SPR on hold for a long while now. They also say SPR is On Hold on left side of their website.
I missed that because if was really far down on the left off the screen.

In particular, I want to improve syncing time, right now it is too slow.
Is that because of having smaller transactions so the cpu is used more?
1593  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SPR] SpreadCoin | True Decentralization (No Pools) on: December 18, 2014, 11:16:18 PM
I just had a chat with Bittrex-Bill, he's going to take a look over Spread, said he wasn't aware of it. I gave him the TL;DR about the block header innovation, possible masternodes, Mr. Spread's track record as a dev on this project, etc. He seemed positive about it and said he'd put it on the list for consideration. Smiley
Yay! This is good. I wonder how many coin requests bitters gets every day.
1594  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SPR] SpreadCoin | True Decentralization (No Pools) on: December 18, 2014, 10:53:51 PM
But ya I can't mine SpreadCoin from my laptop right now cause I only get 11kh/s which don't get you coins too often lmao
Lol. I remember a long time ago I left my laptop on all day while I went to school. 11kh/s. And got home and I had 1 block!
Then I mined with my desktop for 3 hours @ 100 khash/s and didn't get 1 single block.

"7) CPU mining is ideal in the way it is conducted through the menu, but the mining speed should be faster / more optimized for certain architectures and instruction sets. This needs some work.

It would be ideal if GPU mining can also be integrated or "associated" from the mining menu... ie spreadcoin-qt calling the gpu miner program with the right parameters (that the newbie user doesn't know how to setup)."

I second that.
I would definitely be down with that because the only miner I've ever been able to configure on my own is cgminer for scrypt lol and I would love a user friendly built in NOOB friendly way to mine more of these delicious coins Wink
I could probably create a batch file that asks for the pool url, username and password and extra stuff. Here you would type something like "-I 17 -auto-fan" and the thread concurrency options. I think I can make it save to a .txt file. I remember a time when I made a username and password batch file that saved it to a .txt file. Oh damn I remember that it only checked if the username and password matched. Hmm. Maybe I can figure something out.
Well I would be more than happy to test that out if you could get something like that working because I haven't been able to mine hardly any of my SpreadCoins they have all been store bought Tongue but that's okay because the NoobStoryToGlory knows a good investment when he sees one Wink
Is that your alt account or something?

Edit: I just realised that I can just make my batch file generate a .bat for mining. Much easier than what I was originally thinking.
1596  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [Pre-ANN][FIND] FindCoin - Faucet Distribution on: December 18, 2014, 09:48:27 PM
hey guys,

i still have old find coins what should i do with it ?

wait several days - after we'll re-launch coin, you can exchange your old find coins to new ones with 10:1 rate.

or you can sell it on c-cex now for 2 satoshi  Wink

Just to have an idea, what are your prediction for "several days" Denkoma?

hm, probably 5-9.
because 4 would be a few, and 10 would be.... pack Cheesy

(edit: ugh, I wonder who's old enough to get that ref)

Yeah, you're right  Grin Sorry for not keeping everyone updated. We're thinking of 6-7 days ETA.

We can compile wallet under Win/Linux, but it crashes  Sad Since neither of us are experienced devs (I'm not dev at all), and we do this in our spare time after work, maybe for 5-6 hours per day, it's getting longer than expected  Sad
The Linux wallet doesn't crash.

Mr. Spread, I mean ZERO disrespect when I ask this and will definitely not push the issue as it's your coin... but would you be open to a name change for Spreadcoin at some point?  One of the biggest arguments against Darkcoin by many is its' name.  Spreadcoin is going to have many of the same features as DRK (and maybe even some improvements by the sounds of it!) BUT in my opinion, "Spreadcoin" isn't the greatest name ever for a coin, especially for a coin I feel can be a top 3-10 market cap coin within a year. Again, I mean no disrespect and if you love the current name, I won't mention it again.  But if you are open to a name change, I think it could bring even more attention to this coin.
What's wrong with Spread as the coins name? You can SPREAD the wealth, Spread the happiness,, Spread the Joy, Spread the Love, SpreadCoin in my opinion sounds like the perfect name for a top contender to Bitcoin, Darkcoin, or LiteCoin too! I think SpreadCoin would also help Noobies adapt more to the cryptocurrency world by its simplicity in its name Smiley How many people would've ever used Facebook if it was called "CreepyWebsiteWhereYouCanStalkYourExesAndCreepPeopleYouDon'tKnowAndAddThemAsAFriend?Huh" It's the smoothness in a name like SpreadCoin that works with it!!
Cheers
s's
And Spreadcoin rolls off the tongue. Unlike solocoin or something.

Interesting concept -- I've browsed through most of the thread but haven't seen a clear answer on a key point:

How specifically are mining pools avoided with this coin?

I must admit, I'm a bit hazy on the detail too.

Maybe SPR could do with a one-para summary and a snappy buzzphrase? Something along the lines of the “Sign-to-Mine™” approach taken by by Ziftrcoin and described thusly:

“We will use the NIST chosen Keccak, a memory-hard 512-bit hashing
algorithm, along with our Sign to Mine™ protocol, to mine ziftrCOINs.
Essentially, the header must contain a signature of the header’s contents,
which must be verified with the script spending the coinbase transaction.
This ensures that the one who solves the block also has the capability to
spend the block, which limits large pools. With Sign to Mine, miners should
make sure they trust those with whom they are mining, as anyone in the pool
has the ability to spend the reward for the blocks they solve.”

Quoted from ”ziftrCOIN Specifications, Released December 6, 2014” https://d19y4lldx7po3t.cloudfront.net/assets/docs/ziftrcoin-coinspecs.pdf

They may even have actually registered the trademark.

Cheers

Graham

Are you allowed to trademark things? Does the open source licence or whatever it is stop that?

I believe it was somthing to do with a bug in the original Bitcoin coding and Mr. Spread made his coin that way.
I'm pretty sure this never happened. But Mr. Spread did improve the transaction size so that it is smaller.
