1581  Economy / Marketplace / Re: [LOAN] 1000 BTC needed & will pay with interest for mining rig on: April 23, 2011, 01:55:12 AM
dishwara: Can't you just max out a credit card or something?

I don't really know you, so there's a big risk here. That said, I'm interested in using this as a hedge, by offering a 300 BTC loan in exchange for the greater of 300 BTC or 400 USD in 4 months, based on the Mt Gox spot price on July 31. I don't have the BTC but do have enough Mt Gox dollars to buy them.

This isn't an offer yet, just a statement of interest. How does it sound?
Thanks,
I don't have credit card, have visa debit card. I doubt my bank issue me credit card.
I contact my bank & reply you.

1583  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Physical bitcoins, take 4 on: April 21, 2011, 07:09:36 PM
The moment Bitcoin gets physical, it will become vulnerable. Any physical form needs some one to create & it is HARDWARE.
Satoshi Nakamoto, now Gavin working on SOFTWARE. Since software, he create & then everyone copies it.
Hardware or physical has to be created every single piece. Then some one will have to create & that some one WILL CONTROL.
So far, the trust worthy person in bitcoin is Gavin & he can't create any physical form of bitcoin ALONE.
If he adds friends/trust people with himself to create physical, there is NO guarantee that friends/trust people will be always trusty.
If they take control from Gavin then bitcoin will be ruled by some one, like bank, not by people.
1584  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: GUI mining - now supports puddinpop's RPCminers on: April 21, 2011, 06:52:53 PM
Is there a way to use this GUI miner for CPU mining only, without OpenCL installed?

When I try to run it I get "Couldn't find any OpenCL devices..." and then the app closes.

If not, are there any other "easy" to setup windows CPU miners that can be used with pools?

Thanks!
This GUI supports only pocblm GPU miner.
But, now in beta testing is, RPC miner which requires no opencl
http://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3878.0
IT IS BETA https://github.com/downloads/Kiv/poclbm/guiminer-20110403-pre.exe

The CPU miners 2 below works in cmd mode & RPC i used was good.

1585  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: GUI mining - now supports puddinpop's RPCminers on: April 21, 2011, 08:54:17 AM
So I recently did a reformat and now my card is running 5-6C hotter with 25% faster FAN speed with the Bitcoin GPU client then it did before I reformatted.

Only differences now is that is that I'm using CCC 11.4p and ATI Stream SDK 2.3 along with a new GUI Mining Client (provided here) that seems to give me an extra 30 mhashes/sec but that could be because of the updated drivers? Before I used 11.2 and ATI Stream 2.1.

The confusing part is that my volts this time around are slightly lower than before. I use Asus AI tweaker (Its a bit glitchy I can never get it to give me the volts I tell it too) to modify volts and then monitor it with GPUz. Before I had 2.985 volts and now I have 2.875 with hotter temps.

Are the updated drivers enough for the Mhash/s Boost and increased temps?

I suppose I'll get a better idea once I play some games, but I'm waiting to get my steam account back atm.

Also is 85-86C safe temps for an HD5870?

Seems strange, coz so far what i heard in this forum is, if ur card is 5000 series, best is 2.1
& if ur card is 6000 series, u have no other way, but to use 2.3>.  In your case its strange that you getting more hash/s with 2.3.

why you want to keep your card temp in btw 85-86C?
will you loose warranty or some one will hit you if you run your fan at 100%?

Thats not the only strange thing. Its not that I want to have my fan running that fast or that I want my Temp between 85-86C its that it is for some strange reason running that hot!

Like I said before I had higher volts and it was running cooler. Now I have installed the latest of everything and its running hotter!

I guess I will get rid of 2.3 and install 2.1 and see if that helps with anything.

I'm confused I believe I installed the Open CL driver only off AMD's Driver page. It was 11.3 only 11.5MB big
I am now downloading the 2.1 SDK and its 121MB.

I guess I was running with no SDK? Only the Driver? So confused...

Anyways 2.1 is the way to go for the 5870 right? Not 2.4? Seems to me like the latest version would be the best...But I guess not.

Well I just installed the 2.1 SDK from the Archives and its no longer working?
Whats wrong? I launched the GUI and it just says Connected but no Mhashes no nothing. Its not using my GPU at all even though its running. It gives me the option to stop mining but clicking stop and then start just makes it say [1] ATI Stream SDK Starting...

But it never starts. Whats wrong guys?

Seems like its using the wrong Device ID. My GPU is
  • but ATI stream is trying to use [1] which is my CPU. How do I change this? In face CPU usage is 25% with it on.

Figured it out. I had to use --platform and set it to 0

Getting 368 Mhashes now. More or less about the same as before. Temps are the same as well. So not much has change installing the 2.1 SDK. How can I check to be sure its using 2.1?

Driver sweeper 2.9.0  http://phyxion.net/item/driver-sweeper.html
Download & install. Uninstall whatever AMD driver u see in control panel-> add/remove programs.
Run driver sweeper , select AMD -display, Analyse then clean.
Restart pc in safe mode, run again driver sweeper, clean.
Do fresh install of AMD drivers.
Instead of standalone sdk or app, install which comes with driver.

To check driver version & sdk version use GPU Caps Viewer

1586  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Please help test: Bitcoin version 0.3.21 release candidate on: April 21, 2011, 08:39:51 AM

What about the Apple binaries? Is Mac OS no longer supported?

Well, I saw Gavin's photo in Forbes today, sitting in front of his iMac ... which made me wonder why it seems like Apple-users are second-class Bitcoin citizens.  If the lead developer is coding on a Mac, can't he build us a binary?  I don't think OSX even got an official build of 0.3.20.2 !
Don't get wrong. Linux is primary here for one thing open source, so do bitcoin - open source.
Due to huge number of users & request windows client made.
Soon their will be for mac.
The problem is Gavin is the only one so far working on whole official client.
Now some programmers joined with him. If you know about Mac programming you can help.

Also, might be just me, but I think "Send" and "Cancel" buttons are too small in "Send Coins"
+1, the buttons are very small.

I suspect some fee problem when sending with a CIn like 0.01234567.
I've sent 0.01234567 to myself, waited for 10 confirmations and try to send 0.01234567 to myself again.
=> bitcoin GUI suggest me a 0.01 fee
This transaction is over the size limit.  You can still send it for a fee of 0.01, which goes to the nodes that process your transaction and helps to support the network.  Do you want to pay the fee?

I tried 7/8 times, same message appears. There shouldn't be a fee here ?

No, its not error or bug. Gavin mentioned it in first post itself. You can send coins less than 0.01, but you have to pay 0.01 as fees
Quote
Sending and displaying arbitrary precision amounts of bitcoins (you can send exactly 1.0001 bitcoins if you like).  Sending less than 0.01 bitcoins requires a 0.01 bitcoin fee, however.

Would you mind grabbing a copy of http://miniupnp.tuxfamily.org/files/download.php?file=upnpc-exe-win32-20110418.zip and running upnpc-static.exe -a YourInternalIPv4 8333 8333 tcp and posting the output?

i downloaded & ran it, here i got result with no bitcoin client running.

Actually, i see both same & i don't understand anything.
Can anyone explain why i got same thing both time or what is wrong in mine?

Using for the past 10-20 minutes. So far no glitch or anything, besides, instead of 2 digits , now i see 8 digits after decimal point.

Quote
Support for Universal Plug and Play to open a port for incoming connections

Is that mean can any port be used to connect bitcoin client to internet besides 8332.
I have a fear that suddenly ISP's will block 8332 port, at least my ISP.
1589  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Please help test: Bitcoin version 0.3.21 release candidate on: April 20, 2011, 09:47:32 PM
WOW, is it true?
I see 8 decimal points, that completely solves the microbitcent problem.
1590  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Physical bitcoins, take 4 on: April 20, 2011, 07:10:32 PM
To get paper currency from bitcoin, very simple method i believe is to have a software, which prints your SENDER address & amount in paper & give it to RECEIVER.
For acknowledgement, the receiver gives a print out with his received address & amount.
That software must be able to run on a very small device like cellphone.
The printer is debit/credit card receipt printer or even smaller one.

Another way , a software for cellphone which send the sender address & amount to any other(Receiver) cellphone number through SMS.
1591  Bitcoin / Mining / Using pocblm to mine causes 10-100% CPU usage on: April 20, 2011, 06:53:35 PM
There is a long thread going on with no one can able to answer "why my CPU usage is 10-100% when i mine with GPU?"

I got a hunch that it may be CPU make.
So created this poll.
So far i rarely saw my 10-100% usage of pocblm in my pc.

Please vote which make, Intel or AMD CPU you use in your mining pc/laptop/...
Also, you can post about your complete CPU details with OS details.

EDIT

I forgot to mention one thing, i too once got 15% cpu usage after reinstall. i also installed a software the day i started mining, i think
Granola i already even made a post about it.
Its free. Please try & see if, at least granola reduces cpu usage.

http://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4531.msg66422#msg66422

https://grano.la/software/index.php

May be it making 0 usage of my cpu.

tar.gz versions have also been available at http://bitcoin.bluematt.me/bitcoin-nightly/blockchain-nightly/.

You are right. This post is actually not needed. I thought database is not available offline, so created this method.
Now, understand it is not needed.
1594  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Update blocks in bitcoin client without running bitcoin.exe on: April 20, 2011, 01:46:49 AM
Hi,

I saw the database which holds the number of blocks is keep on growing. When i started it was 60+MB, Now its, 126 & 80 MB files.

I THINK (not sure), that only 2 files, blkindex.dat & blk0001.dat is used to store block information.
Using bitcoin client to download all the new blocks takes time & also network bandwidth.
The network bandwidth is precious & needed for other purposes, not to upload same file to every one.
Also re installation & new user installing makes user to wait some even 20+ hours to download block database.

I created a dropbox & i used a backup software to automatically back up the above 2 files & zip it, to reduce space & upload to my dropbox.
Users just need to download the zip file & extract it to the appdata\roaming\bitcoin in windows 7 & i dont know about other windows version.
Now they get all the blocks instantly & it wont use bitcoin bandwidth.

I will auto backup & zip & upload every 10 hours for now.

My dropbox folder is
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/17444737/bitDB20110420_0643am.zip

For trying you can use portable bitcoin client instead of messing with your main bitcoin client. Portable & main have no file connection for you to loose any data/wallet/bitcoins....

Portable edition by bbulker & it works fine.
http://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4868.msg71216#msg71216

please try & send feedback.

It seems dropbox won't allow to make a folder public. only the default folder "public" can be shared with anyone & it don't support folders, only files.
Also, i have to manually give the link to download.
If some other software do best please tell.

If you find useful, you can always donate.

Hi is there a way to check which GPU is responsible for the successful mining of a block? I have 6 ati gpus running and I would like to know which GPUs are not performing. Using version 327 guiminer.

Cheers!

Hmm i noticed that my question went unanswered. So I guess theres no way to determine which gpu successfully mined the block?

The pool you are in will show which account found the block. By using the account details, u can know which gpu found block.

No reply from pool owner, still.
If the logs he has is same as in my picture, then sure my share been took away/stolen. coz that picture is after 500+ share missing & that means 500+ share is also missing in his log.
If the logs pool owner differs, then it clearly shows, 500 vanished in my page, but it is in his log, but he didn't paid me for that. still stealing.

No reply from pool owner so far why?
1599  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Lowering mem clock to idle speeds SPEEDS UP Mh/s on: April 19, 2011, 03:33:30 AM
Is there anyway to run MSI Afterburner to automatically Over clock of memory also?
I did my best & it loads core clk as 1038 on startup, but memory 1050 only, then i move the slider to minimum, for me 525, apply & restart MSI AF.
Restarting shows core as 900 & mem as 1050, but clicking saved profile, brings it to 1038/360.
I want MSI AF or if any other software there to automatically apply OC, so no human interaction needed to mining.
Tried with MSI AF 2.0 & 2.1

Flash the BIOS with whatever settings you wish.

I can't loose my warranty or guarantee.
