161  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: New Official AMT Thread on: April 26, 2014, 08:25:21 AM
The following is a request of Joshua Zipking of AMT to remove a certain YouTube video.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iO-EGJhdx4U

Joshua Zipkin of AMT a.k.a. Advanced Mining Technology (or Technologies) has 48 hours (from the timestamp of this post being posted) to remove the above video depicting me quasi-endorsing said entity or he will be access $1,000 USD per day from the date it was uploaded (March 28, 2014) plus 10% interest compounded daily.

If after 48 hours the video is still up, Josh Zipkin will owe me $30K USD plus 10% interest compounded daily.

I will now post this post in AMT's self-moderated thread so that he has a fair opportunity to see it, thus allowing him to act accordingly.

~Bruno Kucinskas

That is a far stretch... You willingly volunteered to be recorded, on AMT rented property, with the obvious intention that it be made available to the public, after being invited to "see that AMT was real", for a bounty/payment/compensation. That is like asking playboy to pull your nudes, after a photo-shoot, printing, and sale of the magazine. You sort of loose the right to publication, once you initially give-up that first right to publication, to the other party. Especially "after payment". (The miner. As you indicated, that they gave it to you, because you didn't purchase it.)

Might want to think about that next time, before you admittedly lie on camera, for personal gain. Sports stars do it all the time, on commercials where they endorse products they don't even use or like.

Nice try though, with the follow-up extortion and black-male. Not sure how well that will bode your cause. However, removing the video would do AMT some justice. You are not as popular as most other celebrity images. Rather, those who are fans of you, are not fans AMT would want as clients. Tongue

I vote to remove it, but not to avoid the threat of absurd undue compensation. xD

Not to mention, you can have it removed yourself. Just go to youtube and hit the "Report" button. Then place your reason in the box they provide. Since that is a possibility, financial compensation is, once again, not even an option. Since they "did not record you without your permission", and "without intent of its use". (Since you stated those were your own words "testimony", in the video itself.) Still, youtube will honor your request, on a personal level. However, the video is still property of AMT, so, it could pop-up anywhere-else, legally. Since it is also not copyrighted, and in the public domain, anyone can make a copy of it, and repost it. Tongue

P.S. Usually a "take down notice", starts with a notarized letter delivered with a signed, return receipt letter, with a 30-day grace period beyond the date of receipt. After which, you can peruse for damages, if damages are justified. However, you have to have a justification for damages, not "just because". A judge will not award you anything, "just because". You would have to have some kind of financial loss or personal loss, of some kind.

Hardly worth selling premine coins for Wink $85 volume last 24hours!

$85.00 That's like... um... a half-keg!

JK. I am sure someone found it worth the sale. Hidden whale? Frustrated miner? Stop-loss failure? Type-O on price? (One too many o's, lol.)

The movement of the 5k pre-mine could be a coincident with the sell off from this morning. The red flag was the 2k sell order at 3000 satoshi that was filled about the same time as 2k coins were sent from the wallet with some of the pre-mine along with the other coins being sent to another wallet. I know only of 5k coins in that wallet is part of the pre-mine. The rest of it I'm not sure about.

Here is the wallet with some of the pre-mine.

http://explorer.teamaircoin.org/address/AeNa12D2kT33GVqTvBHVBg3wGtCdyj75ic

You can see 5k coins were moved to this wallet along with a bunch of others.

http://explorer.teamaircoin.org/address/AQaCkRuRNxwEcMBnGBTy7Cha8eGjRXso1C

This morning shortly after a 2k order was filled there were 2k coins moved to this wallet. The rest was sent to another wallet.

http://explorer.teamaircoin.org/address/ALQ4BkS3U4QA7ETRko6ZRwmhTXQ5XX6Yzv

I could be horribly mistaken and the dev could correct me, or someone else here can, but he hasn't logged in for days now. If I'm wrong then I'm sorry to the ones that sold on my word. I do find it strange that same wallet received 4k coins not long before receiving the 2k. Is there another exchange that has Aircoin? I was unable to take the time to look into before having to leave for work. Looking back I probably jumped the gun on my posting.

Looks like the inputs are all legitimate mined blocks. Might not be them, or it may be coins they actually mined, if it was them.
164  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] AIRcoin on: April 25, 2014, 02:10:07 PM
I just checked. Some of the pre-mined was sold off. I tracked down 5k being sold this morning that was part of the pre-mine.

Well then, I should place my orders lower... I am still game to buy all the premine. Tongue

End this downward spiral once and for all. Give the coin back to the investors. Since, well, we are the ones who actually own them. Giving away our BTC is just poor taste. Taking our BTC is even poorer taste.

Since luck comes in waves, and smaller diffs = faster finds... When one person finds a block, in his "wave of luck", thus finds 2-4 more faster than everyone, (since they built off their block faster than it was broadcast)... In those instances, you will see a lot more rejects with smaller workload sizes.

With larger workload sizes, you are still "looking", while a new block is found, and you don't attempt to submit that work, your miner just throws it away, once it is complete. With smaller workload sizes, you will potentially see more rejects, because you finish faster and submit a fraction of a second faster than those still processing a larger workload size.

This is true for solo and in pools. However, in pools, it should give you, potentially, one to three extra shares submitted, per new-block. (Over workload 256.) But again, you will also see more rejects, as there too, your work was submitted, not just thrown away as you get a "new block detected".

At the end of the day, those with more machines will notice greater advantages, while those with only a smaller single rig, may not notice any difference.

Rejects are not bad, unless they are excessive. (Fast block-time coins naturally have more rejects. BTC, for instance, has few. Due to difficulty, luck and long times between blocks.)

If errors are always excessive, it is because you are connected to a node that is usually too far away. Thus, it is taking them a lot longer to send you the new-block info... or you are connected to a rogue-node set, who is purposely rejecting any "submits" that are not their own. They do that to stall your submitted work, in hope that they find a block, which they confirm before yours. (They may also stall "new block found" data.) Just shut-down your wallet, and restart it. You should connect to faster nodes from the list you built. Otherwise you will remain on those sour nodes, until they boot you.)

Also helps if you choose a pool located in your own country/state/city/network. Hopping country-gates and country-backbones or even network-hubs, causes a lot of buffered lag that is unavoidable.

I love it when I hit like 5 blocks in a row, only seconds apart from one another. After having not found one for an hour. It is funny. As "random" as the results should be, there is an obvious pattern of waves, due to the pseudo-random numbers and the fact that everything is based off prime-numbers for the hashing. (Look at any pool and you see the same patterns... waves of 3 and 4 and 5, all from the same people, enough that you can almost predict who will hit the next wave. Just not so predictable that you could ever tell which block they will hit.)
166  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: New Official AMT Thread on: April 23, 2014, 03:59:57 PM
Well, this miner was smashed, and they said all I had to do was return it and they would send a miner...

Looks like a fork-lift plowed into it. Now you know why they recommend 1-2" of foam protection, and double boxing.

That, or the guy dropped it on the edge of the truck, or stacked his load top-heavy.
167  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] AIRcoin on: April 22, 2014, 03:54:12 PM
Teamaircoin.org website is down. Says "Error establishing a database connection" Anyone know anything about this?

Refresh... Looks like they may have done a website update. It loads for me.

As for moving coins, yes, it is safe. It seems the sour connection data may be coming from the torrent-style connections. Those are just the LTC connections slipping-in to our nodes. They are not using our chain, and we are obviously not using the LTC chain. However, the wallet is updating the information on the status bar, with this wrong information.

When closing the wallet, and reconnecting, for a moment all is fine. Then a few seconds later, the secondary pull of "peers" from the peer discovery over the torrent-list, pulls the LTC data into the list of peers and block-info. (That is just my best educated guess, by the behavior I see occurring.)
168  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] AIRcoin on: April 22, 2014, 01:52:37 PM
what's with the increased hash rate and price all of a sudden? sign of news to come?

Volume has been REALLY low the last couple weeks.  Most likely, someone with 0.5 BTC to burn just bought up the price to 0.00016.  With increased price, comes increased hashrate.

Someone taking advantage of the 1:1 offer, to the fullest, no doubt. (Like I have done, with the purchases I made.)

Why settle for less, when you can have more! Tongue It's a stale-mate. Few left who can even settle for less, so it has no place to go, except up. Now we know the solid floor. Unless someone wants to sell at a major loss. I am sure those few individuals are gone, or have already cashed-out.

My strategy is, buy more on the floor, to take the average value of all my holdings to a lower loss. Now I can sell for much lower than before, and still make a gain, in the future.

10,000 at 0.00210000 BTC/AIR and 10,000 at 0.00007000 BTC/AIR = 20,000 at 0.00108500 BTC/AIR

Is there still a list of orders that shows who's received miners by AMT order number?  I'm #1450 so I'm afraid I may never even receive a shipping e-mail.  I know AMT hasn't said much but have they even recognize their miner guarantee still present  on the ir website.  Per website "AMT will receive your order, if the networks hash rate increases to the point where your miner can no longer meet ROI we will upgrade your miner to the next level of AMT miners."   SO will  I be receiving a 2.4 TH miner or even higher?   AMT please respond to one of my e-mails.

I'd check Mouser. They sell the connectors/pins so proly sell the extractor. On Monday I'll see if the extractor I have for AMP circular connectors works. Pins look the same size. If you have some brass tubing that just fits over the pins would do the same thing. Just need to push the fingers in.

As for crimps, use the same good ol' AMP terminal crimper that is used for all the different DB-xx connector pins.

Oh, the Formfactors link for all psu's is http://www.formfactors.org/formfactor.asp

You can make an extractor from a candy tin, using scissors. (Had to do that a while ago.)

Make it look like this -<|>- and then fold it at the thick part "|", so it looks like tweezers. (If you have the patience, you can wrap it around a small nail, into a tube.)

The tool is much easier to use, but this will get the job done, if you are in a pinch. (Altoids tins have a nice flat bottom, and just rigid enough to force the tab out of the way, for extraction. Just don't forget to bend the tab out a little, before replacing it, so it does not push back out again.)

Oh, and wide staples work too.

172  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: New Official AMT Thread on: April 20, 2014, 03:22:25 AM
So are we supposed to send you the bad boards?

No, They need to be sent to AMT, for replacement. AMT will be sending me "some" of the boards that they know are having issues in the initial testing phase. Your replacement boards should be from the batches that have passed 100%, following an extended test. (I would assume that is how they are going to handle replacements, like Dell does... I had my share of fighting with Dell, once they consumed AlienWare. Though, in all honesty, those components didn't start to fail, until a few months into operation. But when they failed, they were replaced with 100% double-tested replacements.)

Dell now has a bad habit of just sending untested units, beyond boot-posting, and then just repairing the ones that fail in peoples hands. Seems it is cheaper than actually testing every single component and assembled unit.

This situation is a little different, because of the isolated issues that just don't show until after shipping, and after they passed the initial tests.
173  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: New Official AMT Thread on: April 20, 2014, 12:05:25 AM
Wait!  Are you saying that you will be providing technical support for AMT units?

Has AMT contracted you to provide technical support?  Are you also doing re-work on damaged boards?

Will you provide help on missing parts?  I got a missing back plane.

My assistance to customers, will be technical support. (Though limited by several things.)

I am not personally reworking the boards myself, just identifying the point of failures, and marking the components to be reworked.

If I can, I will try to assist with locating or obtaining missing parts. (Once I have settled-in. I just got out of the hospital a few days ago, and have to finalize the "informal contract", with Josh.)
174  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: New Official AMT Thread on: April 19, 2014, 11:51:27 PM
Are you speaking on behalf of AMT, whats the story?

No, I am not speaking on behalf of AMT. I am simply parroting the obvious and giving personal opinions. AMT speaks for AMT. I am, for what it matters, assisting AMT on the technical side, through my informal contract of services. My duties, as I have stated, are related to locating and isolating faults in post-tested boards, for reworking. (Loss prevention and recovery. To reduce the overhead of potential losses, from under-performing or faulting components on the cards.) Thus, my desire to have knowledge of the specific issues, which are reported here, are of strong interest to me. This gives me a specific guidance for things to look for, to resolve. (Just as Microsoft had issues with PSU's and heat-sinks, post production and post testing. The cause of 90% of the RROD situations.)

Hope that clears a few things up.

The guys with the REV 1 boards, essentially have a "reference design". That is what Bitmine provided for suggested builds. (They also had errors in the gerber-files and parts-lists, provided by Bitmine.)

The guys with the REV 3? boards, essentially have a "modified reference design". That is a board with some of the initial major short-fallings fixed. (Obviously, there are a few more minor issues with those boards, or the issues lie within the A1 chips themselves, which is still being determined, through the software side.)
175  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: New Official AMT Thread on: April 19, 2014, 04:23:27 PM
Need to rename this thread:  Official AMT Hobbyist and Craft Fair Thread - "Send us $3000 and we'll send you a fun electronics builder kit (tools not included)."

The "Kit option", was not intended to be produced. Tongue It was for those who felt they could not wait any-longer, and felt they could live with the incomplete units. (With the missing components, stated.)

However, there seems to be a little more "hobby", than expected. The new revisions of the boards and backplanes and PSU's, (which was what they did not want to wait for), are being shipped now. There is still an issue with post-tested boards, which I am sure a better testing setup will resolve. Once they know the source of the failures. Josh has informed me of these potential issues, as well as the forums. These "kits", should not be a representation of the "final product". (For those who have gotten the fully assembled units, with shipping damage, that is another issue.)

The short-falling of the chips themselves, and the original erred designs, given by the MFG, is not making this easy for anyone at the moment.
176  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: New Official AMT Thread on: April 19, 2014, 01:37:32 PM
In lieu of a non-existent AMT technical support staff, can we send our bad boards to you for inspection?

At the moment, no. However, soon, possibly. Let me get settled-in first... I just got out of the hospital a few days ago.
(Had an infection knock me off my feet. Another week of antibiotics and pain-killers, and I should be 100% back on track.)
177  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: New Official AMT Thread on: April 19, 2014, 01:33:55 PM
Can anyone find out the layout of the chips with what is detected in software?  That way we can selectively remove the bad ones?

Got a heat-probe? (The bad chips will be cooler. However, it could be the sister-components causing failure or poor performance. That, or contact shorting from the heat-sink compound on poorly protected terminals and through-holes.)

Just for the record, testing is limited to a short burn-in period. Once cooled and settled-in, there is a chance that post-tested boards may later show signs of under-performance or apparent failure. That is not an excuse, just a real situation. Best to get an RMA, have a replacement sent, and the troublesome boards can be "reworked", or the post-test operation failures can be further diagnosed.

This is one reason why I do not recommend getting the "kit alternative", at the moment, unless you have the technical background to troubleshoot and test these things.

I am not going to suggest fixes beyond anyone's ability, which is why I was going to offer live support. To screen for those who, well, just don't have the understanding, ability or tools required for the more technical stuff. Those individuals would be directed to RMA the misbehaving boards, after a quick "test" that the non-technical individual could do, with guidance. (To ensure there is not just some other issue, like power or backplane issues.)
178  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: New Official AMT Thread on: April 19, 2014, 08:08:35 AM
Anybody know a good way to remove the coincraft A1 chips from the board?

Maybe this stuff is worth at least the A1 chips on the board?

Maybe we can get these guys in Virginia:  http://ntekcomputers.com/products/1ths-asic-bitcoin-miner-1000gh  to re-build our systems?

Heat guns can be found as cheap as $20, with spreading and focusing tips.

Here are some SMT tools and more info, if you are looking to expand your collection.
http://store.curiousinventor.com/guides/Surface_Mount_Soldering/Tools/

If you don't have a good heat-gun, with a temp-control and focusing-tip... There is an alternative way to rework or remove the components. (This is NOT an AMT recommended solution for anything. Use this information at your own risk, and voiding of any form of warranty.)

You can use a hot-plate and focus the heat with an aluminum or copper block. Use an old pot-holder as insulation, to focus the heat where you want it. You can also use a top-side fan, to ensure the stray heat does not loosen other components.
IRON as a hotplate. http://runawaybrainz.blogspot.com/2011/11/surface-mount-devices.html
SKILLET as a hotplate. https://www.sparkfun.com/tutorials/59
BURNER as a hotplate. http://jimlaurwilliams.org/wordpress/?p=2101

1: Cut a hole in the pot-holder, to fit the block of copper. (Just a tiny bit shy of the actual size, so it holds firmly to the block, as you push it through.)
2: Place the copper block and heat-shielded pot-holder on the hot-plate, and get it "up to temperature". (You can use another pot-holder to contain the heat, like a cover, until the temp is high enough to melt the low-temp SMT solder. I use a junk PCB, which I can just lay on the block. When it turns shiny, it is just about ready.)
3: Brace the board with cardboard, so it will stay as level as possible against the block of copper.
4: Use a piece of electric tape, looped so the sticky-side is outward, hung from a pencil or paper-clip.
5: Tap the tape-wand down onto the chip, while it is heating, to try and "grab" the chip, to lift it off the melted solder. (Do not hold the tape down, just tap it down and pull it up quickly, or it will melt the tape. If the chip is loose-enough, it will stick and lift up off the board. Otherwise it will remain, when you pull up the sticky "grabber".
6: Use copper desoldering braid, to clean-up the excess solder from the chip, (Do that fast, don't linger with that focused heat on the chip.)
7: Clean the tape-gunk with a fresh piece of tape... Tap and pull, tap and pull.
8: Then clean any heat-sink compound off the chip with alcohol.

NOTE: The epoxied heat-sink on the top of the chip should/may loosen with the focused heat. If not, then it would be safe to remain on the chip.

NOTE: This board may not be safe to rework in a reflow-oven. There may be secondary components that my melt, which were added after the reflow process. (Such as the cable connections. Which would have to be removed the old way, with copper braid and a standard temp-controlled solder-gun. Prior to reflow-work in an oven. Never use an oven you cook food in, as the boards will release toxins into the air, which will later contaminate food.) You can quickly remove all parts at once, in a reflow oven, with an insulated fiberglass catch-tray, suspending the board upside-down over it. All the parts will drop-off, except for a few smaller capacitors and resistors. A quick tap should liberate them from the boards.

I found something else worth noting. It might be nothing, but I am not taking chances. On one of my cards (which I am currently working on) I am cleaning off the excess thermal grease. It appears to be the silver compound. Generally speaking I am pretty meticulous about cleaning that stuff off just to avoid the off chance it actually causes a short. Never let it happen mostly because of this http://www.arcticsilver.com/as5.htm

It is possible this is causing some of the problems people are seeing. Only one of my cards had this issue with the grease the other ones are fine. I have cleaned it up and will be doing my initial test run tonight and have some pics up in the morning. It will be in a separate thread.

Actually, yes, they are aware of a few issues related to the heat-sink compound reacting with some boards. (The issue is not consistent, which is why they are testing them prior to release.)

As for "Arctic Silver-5"... The "made with 99% pure silver" is misleading. It is not 99% pure silver, that would be foil. Of the 0.025% silver, that 0.01mg silver is 99% pure. Thus, "this paste is non-conductive". If it was 99% silver, it would be more conductive than copper. The 0.01mg of silver is in addition to the other compounds, which totals about 40mg.

Also note, silver paste is corrosive to the aluminum. Any two metals placed against one another, is a "battery". That is why you don't mix copper and aluminum, or use dissimilar metals in direct contact with one another. (The statue of liberty was a copper shell, bound with iron ribs and rivets. The whole thing had to be rebuilt, because the dissimilar metals corroded 10x faster as the moisture in the air had essentially turned each connection into a mini-battery, which caused the structure to fail.)

"Bad boards", that is actually my job. I am sure I will see your board in the future.

I will be offering some technical advice in the future, as well as, (hopefully), some form of live support.

Just a mini-update...

AIRteam is working on a fix for the issue. This "glitch" should be resolved soon.

As for my coin, I have some things in the works, since AIR has decided to keep this coin maintained, along with the new coin. My coin would have been a compliment to AIR and other ALTs, not a competitor to them. However, that is too off-topic for this thread. (At the moment, I am distracted by assistance with AMT miners, which is going to hold me back from developing anything at the moment. Feel free to contact me, for future reference, if you desire.)

I still mine and buy AIR, and have faith that this will become more than most think, at this point in time. It is one of the few coins with its own background processing services, which will not depend on third-party services. Though there is still a lot I do not agree with, about the coin. (That only limits my participation, which is still participation.)
