This is bitcointalk, I don't think any alternative should even be on this forum personally.
165  Other / Meta / Re: TOR unfriendly spam policies on: December 12, 2013, 05:24:43 PM
not only Tor, it often affects Opera Mini
IIRC opera mini forces all connections through their central servers acting like a proxy.

Anyone have suggestions for new sub forums in here?
168  Other / Meta / Re: TOR unfriendly spam policies on: December 10, 2013, 07:45:22 PM
This is annoying. I use tor, and this is just a pointless rule...
It's not a rule, read what badbear posted.

I don't understand why the very same user is banned or not banned, depending on what IP address they use.

Does my personal "spam likeliness" depend on the IP address that I'm using? Certainly not. I'm still the very same person, no matter from where I log in.

Why don't you give user-based bans, instead of IP-based bans?

We do, sometimes it's both. Problem is that mods can't see ip's (thankfully) so I have no way of knowing if someone is using their real ip or a proxy when I ban them. If I knew they were using tor I wouldn't bother. So you can either suck it up, or we can violate everyone's privacy by letting ips be seen by many more people. The former is the more desirable option, though more inconvenient for you.
Do you know if this effects the nuke tool?

That really sucks dude! Hope you here from Mt. Gox soon..
Mtgox can't and won't do anything, all they will tell you to do is file a police report.
172  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My MtGox account hacked... Lost $60,000... :'( on: December 10, 2013, 02:53:14 PM
Why didn't you use two factor authentication to secure your account?
173  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: 7950 vapor-x in pci X1 slot on: December 10, 2013, 11:02:37 AM
16x, 1x, doesnt matter as far as mining speed or power goes.

I know. But will I get full hashing power while running a x16 card in x1 slot?
Yes, bitcoin mining uses very little pcie bandwidth.
174  Other / Meta / Re: It would be nice if the site filtered out referral URLs on: December 10, 2013, 10:34:23 AM
There is a lot of referral spam on this site. I think it would be great if bitcointalk.org automatically filtered out URLs with "cex.io/r".

And "pyramining.com/referral", too.

Yeah I'm getting sick of the amazon affiliate spam too.
For now just hit the report to moderator button so we can deal with them.

I'd be interested in looking at the source as I'm trying to learn some C# at the moment  Smiley
177  Other / Meta / Re: I have over 33,000 bitcoins. on: December 07, 2013, 06:33:56 PM

I just wanted to know who and why my post was deleted.

I did, and it wasn't that your post in particular was so bad, but it was annoying reading the thread and seeing a dozen replies that were all some variation of "send me btc!".
Why is that thread still up? The OP had even confessed to it being a troll yet it was marked as a bad report  Undecided

No, you don't need to use crossfire.
179  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Is gpumax.com Pool Fake? on: December 04, 2013, 11:22:08 PM
The gpumax 'pool' is long gone and dead. Chances are your suspicions are right and that may very well be a faked or stolen screenshot.
180  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: I propose we merge custom hardware into mining hardware on: December 04, 2013, 06:41:46 PM
I agree, I think it's time we cleaned up and made some new sub forums to accommodate for the shift in hardware, GPU mining is pretty much dead now.
I think we should discuss on the best type of new boards to add/remove and go from there. We should archive the old posts, maybe have a few sub forums made in the current archive for this to preserve information.

On the topic of altcoins, this is bitcointalk, you guys are lucky enough we accommodate you already. I don't want to see altcoin discussion anywhere but the currently designated section.
