161  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Extra layers of security to prevent hacks on crypto transaction sites & exchange on: November 16, 2023, 11:40:45 AM
The best suggestion of all is basically not to keep money in exchanges.

Make transfers when you want to sell or to buy. Do not keep your money in exchanges. They are not as safe as they look like
Sadly. What you said is correct but people don't always listen until they lose their funds especially those that trusted Binance SAFU.

Considering that the biggest scams were when the exchange itself gets hacked and everyone loses their money, the solution to that is not using CEX in first place and using DEX instead.
However, using DEX is also not totally safe if the user does not disable the access or permission granted to the DEX when using it.
Another thing is smart contract vulnerabilities. Some DEX provides their service using smart contracts and if there's a vulnerability in the DEX smart contract bad actors can use it to steal crypto.
162  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Avoid trading crypto in real person. You can see this now on Binance. on: November 16, 2023, 01:10:42 AM
This has just began on Binance and this is what will be happening on other exchanges.

We can see recently how robbers attacked bitcoin and other crypto users and this is becoming common. These are two recent ones:

Swedish Bitcoiners targeted by armed criminals
Binance Client Executives Kidnapped, Forced to Empty Crypto Wallet

You can now trade bitcoin and other crypto with other local traders on Binance and you will meet at a particular place that both of you talked about.

This is just not different from KYC if you trade with bad person. Avoid such physical trading.
If exclude the KYC aspects, this form of trading (physical crypto trading) is used by only naive crypto investors who don't think very well about their physical danger if look into the danger that's associated with it and it's totally different from what crypto presented.
163  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How much safe Electrum 2FA is? on: November 15, 2023, 11:15:11 PM
I was thinking of doing transaction of btc thru electrum and can collect money by third party which may makes government unrecognizable who is handling behind it. Currently I'm using this forum by self created multiple VPns. What do you recommend me to deal with that? Should I use it with the help of TOr (basically it runs?) Is Electrum safe for long term storage? Can I get hacked?
Op you are asking about privacy and hacking and  talking at the same time and these two are connected to each other. So let me give my own opinion on each. If you are concerned about your privacy and do not want to be known electrum is best for you because electrum wallet does not ask you for yours personal information. If you use Electrum your information and your privacy will not be changed and people will not know about yours and on the other hand, hacking is somewhat different from privacy.
Electrum wallet is an SPV wallet and despite there's a need for personal information if using the wallet. Without the use of Tor and operating the wallet using self Electrum server the transaction sender's IP address will be exposed that's why the use of Tor and operating own server on Electrum is important when privacy is a concern.
About hacking, the OP only needs to verify the wallet and prevent human error when using the wallet.
164  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What would you tell your younger self to learn this space efficiently? on: November 15, 2023, 10:50:50 PM
Hello,

With all the knowledge you have everything regarding cryptocurrency, what would you tell your younger self in order to learn the best / fastest to get the most out of this space?

Such as: trading, strategies, technical info, learning methods etc etc,

Any help or guidance is appreciated  Cheesy
I would advise myself not to get involved with the MMM crypto investment Ponzi scheme and always Dyor first and never trust even a close friend's crypto gem recommendation. In addition, I will advise myself to always try newly introduced cutting-edge technology instead of relying on false and fake news which was what prevented me from joining the crypto community at the early stage.
165  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Some rich person not interest about bitcoin for following reason on: November 15, 2023, 10:22:04 PM
A friend of mine is not interested in buying Bitcoin even after learning about it.
Because according to him Bitcoin is a small number of people who have a lot of Bitcoin. They can easily go down on the bitcoin market if they want to.
Example: Cz. Craig wright & Michel Sailor etc.

Looking forward to the well thought out opinion of the experienced in this regard.

First, Craig Wright shouldn't be considered a Bitcoin enthusiast.
The reason you provided above is not enough reason for your friend not to have an interest in BTC if he/she understands the technology aspect of it and the reason why people like CZ, Sailor, etc will never go down on BTC with the inclusion of reason why they always pump their own into it.

167  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Inquiry about FortuneJack - KYC and Withdrawals on: November 14, 2023, 10:26:00 PM
Thank you! Yeah I am sketched out with them. Support is not very supporting. It was few mins to now tomorrow. I am also not a very patient person lol. And when I saw how difficult are them to deal with (after the fact) I ran away and withdraw most of my winnings. I also read that they require Skype verification etc, I understand that if you won millions of dollars. But for 600 bucks lol, I hope it's not the case.
Most gamblers are always impatient when it comes to winning withdrawals.
About the Skype verification. Did the casino request that from you? If not ignore the rumor since we are talking about long existing casino.
168  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: BTC private key generates wrong address. on: November 12, 2023, 06:12:47 PM

The problem is the people usually fail to make an airgapped device. And ignore the importance of having an offline device.

Most users just download electrum (or use some random wallet generator found online) on their personal computer, generate the wallet, save on a paper and delete the wallet. This is not safe. There are dozens of threads like this in the forum, where users were hacked and lost their coins with similar methods.

I don't use paper wallet myself, just for small amounts.

Just as you said one thing I will always tell someone not that tech savvy is to just go for hardware wallets not that it is better than airgapped wallets in my opinion but it save you the trouble of not making a mistake.
Yes, you have a point but setting up a hardware wallet can also be problematic for people who are not tech-savvy especially those that are new to cryptocurrency.
It's better to have a good understanding of setting up an air-gapped wallet and hardware wallet if the people who are not tech savvy are serious about crypto.
169  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Holding for long might not be the best option. on: November 12, 2023, 05:57:32 PM
So I sudjest sometimes if the market is going down beyond bearable measures, there is need to swap your BTC to USDT to keep your capital safe in other to buy back when it is going up to avoid loosing some huge amount of money.

USDT isn't the best stabecoins to use for holding your profits. They're centralized and been controlled making it not any different from fiats currency. Your assets can be frozen when held in USDT and the price is been manipulated constantly.
The absence of a decentralized stablecoin in the cryptocurrency market is one of the drawbacks we have in the market and according to research, a total of $835 million in USDT has been frozen by the USDT team.

Hodling your Bitcoin has always been the better option as it gives you a long term profits when compared to trying to catch the top of the market to sell and bottom to buy back. These targets looks achievable on paper but hard to execute.
Yes, you're right and it is always better to take profit while having the initial investment amount held in Bitcoin instead of selling and buying back. I think that is what the OP is trying to say.
170  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How do you avoid scammers? on: November 11, 2023, 10:19:39 PM
I am new to Bitcointalk
Welcome on board.

Just as what I have used on my title I want to know the possible ways to avoid scammer and phishing sites
Careful of what you click is not enough to keep you safe from phishing attacks if you don't familiarize yourself with the real website. Another thing you should emails mimicking.
171  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Angry at the high fees? That's what everyone predicted the future will be like! on: November 10, 2023, 11:15:34 PM
I think the reason people are dragging their feet about the high transaction fees associated with Bitcoin is that they do want to accept the benefits but ignore the drawbacks of the market experiencing large volumes of transactions. They want to see the price of the BTC holding rise or see widespread adoption.
They dislike the sacrifice it brought, but they welcome the advantage they will have from the market when BTC sees extreme traffic.
I accept this fact and choose to use the alternative. That's why I am never angry about the BTC tx fee.

172  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: investing plan on: November 09, 2023, 02:30:57 PM
Hello Community,

I have 1500$ and i want to invest it crypto as holdings. What do us suggest invest it all on BTC or alts? Thanks
It depends on the holding time frame but no matter the time frame investment in Bitcoin is always the best in the crypto market especially that alot of big investment giant companies are putting billions of dollars in Bitcoin spot ETF imagine that the price of 1BTC will be after billion of dollars is injected into the BTC market.
173  Economy / Economics / Re: Swiss Franc become a new Cryptocurrency ;D on: November 09, 2023, 01:57:46 PM
The Swiss National Bank has launched a program to digitally transform the Swiss Franc into Cryptocurrency.
Five banks are participating in the experiment, including UBS (Credit Suisse went bankrupt, as we know).

https://goldblum.ch/news-and-media/swiss-franc-is-becoming-a-cryptocurrency
It is nice to see that some government and Central banks now find digital currency as a safe haven but let's face the fact that the Swiss National Bank digital currency will never be cryptocurrency for it's not different from the CBDC created by the Chinese government.

Same goes with the CBDC. CBDC's are like a crypto because they run in the blockchain and again just like a crypto, they must have a limit when it comes to supply. I think they are backed with the country's available currency.
The CBDC is not like crypto, yes they run on blockchain but will never have a limited supply because it's against the fundamental belief of the government, and creating CBDC is to create something like traction for people who strongly believe in crypto because of its liberation.
174  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: The mom of my friend got scammed 7.3k$ from coinbase usin an app like teamviewer on: November 08, 2023, 11:53:44 PM
Hi all ! this is my second time on bitcointalk , first time i wrote on the forum was couple weeks ago when i got scammed by a guy i trust ( for 300$ )
In the cryptocurrency space, the only person you can trust is yourself and never entrust something valuable or important to someone else.

In your opinion is possible to understand where the guy and if he cashed out? using /ww w. blockchain. c om
Only if the scammer don't mix the coin.

( dont know if i can post links here) i saw that he sended the ammount to 9 different wallets a specific ammount and  18 different wallets another ammount, starting sending in date 03/11/2023 till yesterday 06/11/2023... I saw that he used BINANCE 4 in some wallets to get out the money , but i cant understand well if he sended it or received it from there, im not good at reading the blockchain txs im sorry, thats why im here . Obviously tommorrow we go together to tge police with her , but i think its normal to bring them some proofs , so we can eventually block his future transactions on binance or other centralized exchanges he used to get the money out . Could you guys helpp me to have more informations as possible about this person ? i have his phone nr , he used a dutch tel. number to call her , obviusly i tried to call him but not an answer and i got blocked fast... I just want to help my friend and his mom, if you guys would help me out by reading better between txs and obtaining some info, i thank you a lot in advance , God bless . Cry
This is beyond something you can do. First, the woman needs to secure her phone, computer, and other means of communication she used with the scammer.
You guys ought to report the issue to the authorities so that Binance can freeze the scammer's account but you can still give it a try and also record the scammer's wallet on here.

Ok, got it. I said her already to uninstall the app and have get a new password to her accounts. However, what you mean by mix the coin ? thanks
Cryptocurrency mixing is also known as crypto tumbler and it's the process of tainting crypto transactions which will make it impossible or almost impossible to know the initial wallet where the BTC was sent from. In other words, it's a privacy enhancement in crypto.
175  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Never say your recovery seed or private key out loud! on: November 08, 2023, 10:15:30 PM
What on earth could make anyone tell another person his/her seed phrase over the phone?
Lack of knowledge about cryptocurrency.

That’s doesn’t make sense.
It does make sense because alot of crypto newbies are doing unbelievable things with their crypto-holding making them the victim of crypto scammers.
Here is an example

Your gadgets could be the spy agents
Yep, it’s no longer a secret that certain phone apps listen on their users in order to gather data from them.
Not only app. There are some phone and computer keyboards that expose people to danger. This led to people buying privacy-enabled phones.

Big tech companies pay good money for these data. Ever wondered how come an ad about bags pops up on your timeline moments after you and your friends were just talking about bags. This is very common on Facebook, TikTok and Instagram. We sign up to these platforms and agree to their terms of service without fully understanding what it means.
Facebook is the master of user data stealing social media and that's the reason why Mark once had a lawsuit for user privacy data because only cares about making more money.

177  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: If I have 1BTC So how did I use to invest in different Coins on: November 06, 2023, 01:22:31 PM
Having 1BTC out of the whole 21 million coins is the dream of every cryptocurrency investor, so why plan investing in different coins when you can just hold a signed coin that outshines every other cryptocurrency in the market?
that is a complete question that I wanna put here , OP seems to be looking for problem than investing.
If he's looking for problem instead of investment in cryptocurrency then this market is not for him since the next few months market will be determine by Bitcoin market trends.

Having 1BTC out of the whole 21 million coins is the dream of every cryptocurrency investor, so why plan investing in different coins when you can just hold a signed coin that outshines every other cryptocurrency in the market?

True talk, one does not need to have upto that 1btc befo he could make an investment, bitcoin is just an opportunity giver for those that realized it importance, relevance and advantages over every other cryptocurrencies, if we are not being too greedy or impatient, them we will realized the reason why we must hold onto bitcoin for our investment and not altcoins, even if we are to invest on altcoins, it must be minimal and we must consider the risk.
Meanwhile, impatient and greed of altcoin investment when not having the needed knowledge for portfolio management and choosing the right altcoins is one of the reasons most newbies make losses.
This is the reason why I suggested going for BTC alone as the best for OP.

179  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: First buy Bitcoin as a newbie, good way to start. on: November 04, 2023, 11:14:38 PM
I use myself as an example, be for I started to acquire knowledge about Bitcoin, I first bought some amount of Bitcoin and held it in my personal wallet, not an exchange wallet, and I had my wallet keys properly saved, and after that
Having your BTC saved in a personal wallet is still not safe or secure if you don't verify the wallet before using it.

So if you have the money to buy some Bitcoin,  why not buy first and thereafter learn along the way and keep practising the few things that you learn,
I think learning should be the first step. Not learning first before investing in BTC is like gambling without knowing the game rules and regulations such a person has to lose the game before even starting cause she will lack the knowledge on securing the investment, risk management, and taking a profit.
180  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Guide] What is recommended to follow "Social Media Or DYOR" in the crypto world on: November 03, 2023, 10:31:29 PM
The fundamental investment rule of cryptocurrency is to always Dyor first. 99.7% of most social media crypto influencer recommendations are pure shill and social media is the space where most market manipulation is generated lately. Besides, the SEC lawsuit against Kim Kardashian, Jake Paul, Lindsay Lohan, etc is an example.
However, we have some experienced crypto traders who tweeted that chart analysis that's different but people still to do their own research.
