Might have a look to see if this is possible myself.

Also congrats on not getting goxxed.
162  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Britain to scrap VAT taxes on Bitcoin trades on: March 06, 2014, 06:38:01 AM
I'm very sure most accountants would not have a clue about bitcoin.

Mine didn't.  When he was preparing my companies end of year accounts, he spotted some transactions he was unsure about, and wanted to know what they were for.  I think he thought he had caught me with my hands in the till.  They were payments to localbitcoin users.  I explained what is was, but he didn't understand.

Anyway, this news on the UK scrapping VAT taxes is welcome but nothing to get excited about.  Britain is closed for Bitcoin business.  You cant open a new bank account if there is a crypto anywhere in your business plan, and existing businesses get lent on - TransferWise being a good example.  I used to be, the best way to send UKP to bitcoin exchanges, was using TransferWise, until the banks told them to stop.

Still its a great step in the right direction. I wont lie I'm actually excited about it but also amazed our government is not openly anti bitcoin.
163  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: RBC closed my commercial bank account for having Bitcoin related activities. on: March 06, 2014, 06:30:37 AM
So a quick question. Sorry not up on my own countries laws for this let alone other countries but its it not illegal to do something like this ?

If not then its a great way of attacking bitcoin.

Sure wont kill it but could be a major pain in the ass.
164  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: made a purchase from overstock instead of amazon on: March 06, 2014, 06:18:21 AM
Overstock is still not accepting BTC from international customers.

Wait so I cant use this being based in the UK? You sure ?

Edit: yea I think your right dam that's a shame.
165  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: MTGOX Statement *NEW MAR 3RD* on: March 06, 2014, 05:59:34 AM
So... I spoke with their English representative.

I asked if there is anything I need to do to get a Creditor status or do I get it automatically. He said there's nothing I can or need to do, except checking the website for updates. He said they are waiting for the court to release its' decision about how to move forward from here.

I asked if he has an ETA for when that will be released, he said no.

I asked if there is anything I can or need to do at this time and he said no. He said "all I can recommend you to do is check the website from time to time as we will add updates there."

Thank you for saving me a long distance call. I would send a btc tip but well gox. Undecided
166  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitstamp on: March 06, 2014, 05:57:45 AM
I am having a problem getting USD wire into Bitstamp.

If bitstamp crashes too - that is the end of bitcoin forever.  No way bitcoin can survive two major exchanges stealing .5 billion each.  This whole thing is starting to look like a f-ing train wreck.

Gimme back my euros!!!

Bitcoin ATM's are starting to be deployed now, there will be less need for central exchanges as those become widespread.

True enough, but many people like to trade.

Yep it kills me that I cant trade any more . I enjoyed trading so much but I just look at every single exchange now and don't see how I could ever trust them. I guess I should start reading up on decentralised exchanges and their progress.

Everyone wants to believe it wont happen to them. Good luck
167  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is Bitstamp going the same way as Gox? on: March 06, 2014, 05:50:32 AM
It ALWAYS takes a few days at least with them and it ALWAYS gets there in the end. There is no problem, it's just slow.

Not being funny with you but that's how it all started for me in Gox.

I was getting Sepa transfers from them days before everything went down (just gutted it was for such a small amount).

I ignored all the signs and trusted in them because while it was slow I did always get my money. Then I went from 73 btc to 0.79 overnight .

The reality is you really have no way of knowing what's really going on in the background.

Believe as much as you like I just hope none of you end up loosing anything.

You come to this thread with negative trust and you post that?

Do everyone a favour and show yourself to the door.

I just hope one day we all get to know what actually happened.

For me this was a massive loss and I wont lie it has caused many sleepless nights. Every night I just cant stop my mind from trying to workout how I can get back to where I was.

I suppose that's a good thing in a way. Its better than going over and over what might have happened at Mt.Gox.

So many just say "just move on"   "lolz you lost your coins"   "I'm glad". Screw them its just not possible for for some of us to just give up our life savings without a fight.

I do however recognise its also important to not stop living and moving forward in some kind of positive way.

Way I see it every day I spent doing nothing positive over the last 2 weeks was a day everyone else got a little more ahead of me in the bitcoin game.

For me at least its time to drag myself back up and start bouncing back from almost nothing.

FU Mark/Hackers/FBI/who ever and thanks for the lesson.

It is important that you recognize your part in this; YOU chose to leave your life savings in the cloud.

Not for one second have I ever refuted the part I played in my loss.

Sad news.

I will be the first to admit I have not kept up to date on First Meta so have no idea about its situation but I have a horrible feeling we will be seeing more suicide related deaths as a result of Hacking.

It seems like companies are getting hit really fast and hard right now.

Edit: Not saying First Meta was hacked.
173  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin won't ever become Mainstream. It's just a Prototype. on: March 05, 2014, 05:48:42 PM
As a UK resident I can now walk into a bricks and mortar shop and buy bitcoins. I can now also buy just about any computer hardware (not asic) directly from Scan.co.uk.

Added to that "my" government just did this http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/briefs/vat/brief0914.htm

I can order take out from a few restaurants in my local area now.

Just a handful of things that are starting to feel pretty mainstream for me personally.

I would take this over Gold any day of the week.

I would love to be on that road trip but the last time I was in a trunk it involved a copy of Feminist Review and a cucumber . Needless to say an experience I'm not over keen to repeat even if I get to see miner porn at the end.

Well I am 90% sure I'm going to go with a 2.250 TH with the last of my fiat if this company can deliver. I'm aware it might just be better to buy and hodl btc instead but... well I miss mining and have a fair bit of free power during daylight hours so what the hell. Solar power and outrageous government feed in tariffs 4TW.
176  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Invest]-=Gamblex=- Multicurrency Gambling/Exchange Hybrid (Free Shares) on: March 05, 2014, 08:13:07 AM
4 Investments and 45 Giveaway signups.

Any particular reason why people think this is not a good investment/not intresting?

Regards,
David

A massive Gox just happened Cry and everyone might still be a little shell shocked added to that it seems like hacks/scams are happening every minute.

Still I sent you an email for a sign up shares and if you get this going it can be a place for me to gamble away the little that Gox left me with.

I think people might be more inclined to invest a little if they could see that this was a registered company somewhere. Not that really helps when push comes to shove it actually seems to mean nothing.

Also this subsection of the forum might not be getting the foot fall of other locations. You might consider service announcements.

Cool idea anyway and really hope it takes off and look forward to seeing it develop.

178  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Does anyone know the difference in these 3 miners? on: March 04, 2014, 09:03:01 PM
yea I found the top one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Brand-New-1TH-1000GH-Bitcoin-Miner-28NM-ASIC-Bitcoin-Miner-Includes-Power-Supply-/161237914904?pt=UK_Computing_Other_Computing_Networking&hash=item258a875518

but just can not find enough information about it. As much as I would love 1TH i just can not bring myself to take the risk.

Second one seems identical and might lend some weight to rumours that there are copies / clones of these getting ready to hit the market.

Well I guess since they are not doing pre orders no harm in just waiting then. Still would love to see some prototype mining porn working but that's just me.

in all honesty, i'm not that bothered about seeing anything until they have a finished product. Up to you if you want to go visit tho.

So you don't think its worth the trip just yet ? Maybe I should just drive up and pay cash when/if they have the first ones roll out ?
