It's hard to make people change their use of paper money, when it's been around with us for thousands of years. If credit/debit cards didn't manage to replace paper money, then how would CBDCs succeed? Phasing out paper money would bring many benefits to the government including (but not limited to) reducing waste, eliminating privacy, and having better control over the money supply.
