161  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: November 09, 2015, 10:47:23 PM
I was wondering, does anyone have a dead Avalon3 module (the 50 chip 290GH/s thing)?
I would like to get a heatsink off one and solder down some 1.5mm copper tubes into the fins and make a watercooling block out of them..

come to think of it, should ask this in the market place..

How goes batch 2 good sir?

Check post 1 of the official sales thread, it seems to have most relevant info, unless sidehack states the P&P machine went rouge and attempted to place things over the wall..

FIRST ROUND SALES:  470 sticks paid | large queue: 312 (312 shipped) small queue: 158 (158 shipped)
SECOND BATCH QUEUE:  178 sticks paid (0 shipped)

Ha! I misinterpreted the use of the pot! the more it faces the USB plug, the more voltage to the ASIC, and here I have 2 of the sticks that just cannot hash it out anymore, I was tunning it to less voltage Cheesy !! Right, I know what I'm doing when I get home.

Oddly enough, 2 other ones I had issues with, just spitting more HW errors, I turned down the voltage (in light that I was thinking I was turning up the voltage), and 0 HW errors

So, I have 2 oddities, they both start hashing at full speed, then 30 seconds later, one just drops all hashing, the other in 60 odd seconds, dwindles down to 10s of mega-hashes, I've put them to factory set power, left out clock parameters, and they still do the same thing. testing the voltage, Vcore set to 0.7v, 1.8V is 1.8, 3.3 is 3.3 etc..

yeah, I've up the Vcore voltage, still no play. Also tested both on CG and BFG, they both do the same thing.

Wonder if the chip or something in the hub is going, did you try them on a different hub?

yep, and in different systems too

165  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [SIDEHACK STICK] Official sales thread for everywhere not already covered on: November 06, 2015, 02:51:10 AM
Well, gotta pay the bills somehow. Gekkoscience is my full-time job and the more stuff we build and sell, the better able I am to be not completely broke. That, and it's also a lot of fun.

The hosting expansion will drop my rates to 8.9 cents (about $65/KW-month) in case anyone's interested. No minimum, no prepay contract, VPN remote access included.

So 1000W miner in your facility for $65 a month? might almost be worth selling my car to get an avalon6 there and setup for a few months, till I cant make enough to pay for itself monthly.. profit on that you ask? won't be able to get my car back..

all good I took it wrong my bad  any way yea off this subject not the place .

As I said, if you want to talk, I'm happy to listen, PM away Smiley
167  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience BM1384 Project Development Discussion on: November 06, 2015, 02:08:42 AM

you don't need the church to believe Smiley ... need I say more .

and it was more like you said

Fatigued posting is fatigued.. to late at nite eyes can't see for crap, i needed to leave the KB etc  ...

You're right, church is a place to worship, not to rule or make money.. "Break a stick over a rock in the lords name will be your place of worship" (no idea where i got that from) and hell, even satanists have a belief in the lord, they claim him the enemy though..
Anyway, enough of that, this is not the place for it, there is an off-topic post already about this stuff..

I was gonna point a date but couldn't find one and if ,I'm not mistaken some one else bought this up one other time and side proved it was him first, Smiley .
later

I really don't know what you just said.

drunk poster is drunk.. Fatigued posting is fatigued..

I Don't drink, i will make that clear right now that a very sore spot for me  . I believe in the lord etc that should explain all i need to say .

I'm sorry man, i didn't mean to offend, lemmie just edit it for you.
Also, I'm glad you found solace in the Lord, back when I was a solder for Salvation Army, I saw many in them shoes.. if you want to talk, PM me, I'm happy to listen and advise to my ability.. if you want to know why I'm no longer part of the church, you can pm me about that too..

It's not a pickaxe. At all. Has nothing to do with blocks or mining. Predates our interest in the bitcoin economy by at least a year.

I could be wrong, but is it a drone of Game of Life?

im pretty sure its this
http://eurekaseven.wikia.com/wiki/Gekko

ignore the fact that half the names of the projects are similar named to the items in eureka seven... typezero, amita, compac.. and novak@gekkoscience has no resemblance to Holland Novak...

You think it'll work?

me linky img

honestly didn't think if a place to post it.. I'll delete it if you want sidehack
174  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: November 05, 2015, 03:31:17 AM
is it just me and having my face full of gekkoscience, or did this just come out without any press?

Hell, can me or Sidehack get our hands on these A3218s? and even better, why is A3218 all about a Flight .. wait, must add Avalon at the front of the search..
175  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience Compac BM1384 Stickminer Official Support Thread on: November 02, 2015, 11:43:43 PM
Hello all,

I'll preface this post with a small disclaimer - I haven't mined since the GPU days and the Compac is my first ASIC. The solution to the problem therefore is probably really obvious!

Today i received my bitshopper.de version of Sidekick and Novak's compac. I've installed Zadiag and changed the driver to WINUSB and i've rebooted (oh so many times!). I'm running Novak's CGminer from the first page of this thread. I'm using the bat file included as administrator on windows 7 and also windows 8. Currently i'm using the bat file as is (i'm aware that it is linked to Novak's bitcoin address) and i've also tried dropping the fequency to 100mhz. I've tried different USB ports, inserting/removing the compac at different times before/when CGminer is running, two computers and have had the miner through my USB doctor currently which is showing 5.03V and 0.19amp draw.

Essentially CGMiner reports no miners, but on looking through the USB menu and listing the devices it does find it as "Bus 2 Device 3 ID: 10c4:ea60 bitshopperde Compac BM1384 Bitcoin miner". CGMiner then reports "USB init, open device failed, err -3, you don't have privilege to access - GEK device 2:3", and then Gekho detect <2:3> failed to initialise" I'm guessing the second error is due to the first.

Is anyone able to advise? Help is much appreciated.
did you run Zadiag with admin? how about CGminer with admin? its been to long since I've setup windows to mine..
Also, did you read though the 30 pages of information and garbage here? (im guilty of trashing this place with useless posts)

...

run as administrator?

why you beat me?
176  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: SHA256 USB miner for many coins on: October 27, 2015, 07:30:25 AM
There are very few SHA256 coins, and about the only ones with any value at all are BitCoin and Namecoin.

Blake is NOT SHA256, I don't think Photon is either.

Sure, it would be NICE to mine some of the cloins like Litecoin and Doge and Dash etc with SHA256 massive TH hardware - but they aren't SHA256 coins so you can't.

Just think, the failed Sha256 coins that used to be available and died due to lack of interest or some major failure in the code or just plain pump'n'dump, heres a list of all sha256 coins: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=482002.0
177  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience Compac BM1384 Stickminer Official Support Thread on: October 27, 2015, 02:27:39 AM
The ASIC is darn good, but a lot of it's in the buck. We overbuilt the heck out of it, probably three times the current capacity of the next best stick miner to allow for exactly the kind of stuff y'all are doing. Adds just a bit to the cost but greatly increases the fun.

Doesn't it just give you that warm feeling of pride knowing people are enjoying and having fun with the labor you put in?
178  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience Compac BM1384 Stickminer Official Support Thread on: October 27, 2015, 12:51:34 AM
I had an old burnt up bfl jalapeno, so I took the heat sink fan combo and mounted it onto a GS stick. I also had some stick on heat sinks from the s1s and put them on the back side of the pcb for a little extra cooling. OC is at 400 right now and running smooth for a few hours with 0 hw errors, I will have to mod my usb hub to get any higher clocks but this baby stays cool. I usually see 22 to 28 ghs. This baby will be pushed to the max and hopefully survive, I do have plans of getting a few more and doing other odd ball cooling and OC.

Holy crap that is the most awsome mod I have seen yet!  That massive heat-sink just looks right on there Smiley.

Thanks for sharing that is very impressive with a fan.  I'm wondering what that thing can do now.

Will play with more it when I get home, I have alot of heatsinks laying around and a watercooling loop Tongue  It would be pretty bad ass if i can get this heat sink green!

Water cooled Compacs.. now that shouldn't be hard to do, just use northbridge water blocks, and put them in series or parallel the blocks..
179  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience BM1384 Project Development Discussion on: October 26, 2015, 08:24:42 AM
you didnt say how many and what colors any blinky light things each design might have.

comon man dont leave us hanging.. toss us a bone!

Red Green Blue, like the compacs... now all we need them to do is "dance" when idle, like them cheap usb hubs..
180  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience Compac BM1384 Stickminer Official Support Thread on: October 26, 2015, 07:27:53 AM
It's not that relevant since the Compac doesn't have that chip on it, but I guess the general overclocking concept does still apply.

I should probably have put an S1 underclocking writeup on there, since I spent a week generating a full chart of efficiencies at every 10mV interval between stock and the point the chips stopped working. I should probably have put a lot more stuff on there, really. The website's been pretty neglected lately.

that is true, this is what I get for googling the TPS53355.. but as you said, the Infineon is superior to it (100A over the 53355s 30A).. as you said, split the voltage planes, feed it 12V go OH SHI- and enjoy hot boxing the blue smoke Wink

I'm notorious for leading these official Thread off topic eh?
