Hello,
I'm running 2x GekkoScience Compac BM1384 Stickminer on a D-Link DUB-H7 (3A) connected to a Raspberry Pi2 running Minera/cgminer-gekko.
i regularly get 1 miner stopping working. (always the same)
It looks up (green LED), but no flashing white LED and minera reports it as dead.
I have to either unplug/plug the stick or disconnect the USB hub and power it off/on and reconnect it.
I'm using --compac-freq 210 (1x 11.91Gh/s, 1x 10.97Ghs/s), V set at +/- 0.75.
I did not have this behavior on the Belkin F4U018-BLK with a 2.5A power supply that I used before yesterday.

The hub doesn't run the Raspberry Pi...(I didn't get what you mean, my apologies) , the RPI runs on it's own power supply and the HUB has its own too. This hub is recommended here specifically and it is a USB2 hub (I did some research before, I'm not a complete newbie although I can be distracted  ) https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=253749.0(although this is for BE, not the GekkoScience Compac BM1384 Stickminer, but it is on the RPI) All (well most) review from this year are positive. Does anyone know if there's a guide to setting up a Raspberry Pi as a controller anywhere please? I've got my sticks and powered hub on route and would like to run them from a Pi model B I've already got. I haven't used one before as a controller so really don't know where to start  . Getminera.com ? |

Depending on how the hub is set up some do backfeed and turn the RPI on though powered usb. The RPI can be a little picky even on usb 2. Usb 3 you can count on not working. Usb 2 is not guaranteed to work with RPI. If you google you will see some still have problems with RPI. |

Well we'll see how it goes I have a couple of 10ports USB hub used for other mining HW. (+ the 7ports belkin and a dlink 7 ports USB3 (which is kinda disqualified because of that)) I'll give them a shot. My goal is to run the 6 gekkominers, 3 U3, 1 BFL 30Ghs and 4 block erupters on the RPI. So lots of fun ahead finding the correct hub + mining SW combination |

Is there a list anywhere of hubs that will work with Raspberry Pi and Gekkoscience sticks? I had ordered but just cancelled an Anker 60w 7 port USB 3.0 but have just read USB 3.0 probably wont work  . |

You need to have [insert proper value for gekkostick]VA per device. So for example if the adapter says 5V 3A then you can power 15VA worth of devices which = 15/2.5 = 6. As soon as I get my other 4 sticks, i'll report. They left US yesterday so I may not get them in France before Monday (saturday if i'm lucky) Usb3 will definitely not work with RPI apparently. (I just have 1 USB3 and 4 USB2 but I may try it anyway for the sake of it  )

It says 12v 3A so assume it should be okay? I've only got 2 sticks on way so far but would be good if I could add more if I wanted . |

Try this (search with Google:) ASIN B00ENE55SQ <-power for 2-3 sticks and some of that ASIN B00H2JKHVY <- 1 per stick. 12V out of an atx power supply or similar. Don't try to power them over an usb-hub. |

Ha! I misinterpreted the use of the pot! the more it faces the USB plug, the more voltage to the ASIC, and here I have 2 of the sticks that just cannot hash it out anymore, I was tunning it to less voltage !! Right, I know what I'm doing when I get home. Oddly enough, 2 other ones I had issues with, just spitting more HW errors, I turned down the voltage (in light that I was thinking I was turning up the voltage), and 0 HW errors |

Getminera.com ? The base Minera image doesn't yet support the Compac, as far as I know. I put together an image using the latest Minera plus the built cgminer-gekko as a custom miner. The download link is in the first post. There's a read me included with the download. Note though that the cgminer-gekko that I built and included with the image will only work with the Compac. There were build errors getting it to work with some other miners (like Icarus). I mention this because you indicated earlier that you want to run several different pieces of mining hardware. So this might not be the solution for you, although you could use it as a base to get started. If the cgminer-gekko sources are fixed at some point, I'll rebuild cgminer-gekko to support a broader range of hardware and repost the image, assuming that native support for Compaq is not added to Minera before then. I know, I asked and I got the answer a couple of pages earlier I'd be happy to get a cgminer that supports the gekkostick and the icarus-type at the same time. How to kill your Sidehack Sticks.
I suppose it had to happen to someone, appears that someone is me.
I found this gigabyte sticker from a sound card or something that had adhesive left on it.
So I tore it in half and pasted a piece over the leds on my two sticks. Turns out (a little too late) that the sticker is metallic.
Ran fine when I hit the hay, but a few hours later I woke and checked things and everything had gone to to hell.
Evidently I shorted something out. Is there any hope for these guys?

My 2 x sticks arrived today. They have now been running for nearly 4 hours on cgminer perfectly . Running them @ 150 for now as they're on my spare pc usb ports without cooling:  I'll ideally have them running on Raspberry Pi with powered hub and fan in a few days when extra equipment arrives . |

Anybody has an opinion on Orico 10 port/3A vs Orico 9 ports/2.5A (this one says hot swappable, but 10 ports does not say it) or Etekcity 10 ports/2.5A?
Or any other (better) in the same $12-$25 category.
Or, maybe Anker is better at $35, although it is USB 3.0
Does it have to be USB 2.0 or could be USB 3.0, if I eventually might use Pi as well.
