161  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 500sat/vb for a transaction? Has the world gone mad? on: June 07, 2024, 05:06:01 PM
I will say bitcoin developers are responsible for all these because they failed to let the fee stay below let us say less than 100 sat/vbyte. The BRC20 tokens and Runes are the cause of this. Bitcoin is created in a way that more of them like BRC20 tokens can still come to existence and also become bitcoin tokens.
You are right about ordinals and Runes and how they spam the network, but the current increase in fee rate to around 500 sat/vbyte wasn't caused by them. That was caused by the big volume of consolidation transactions that were broadcasted with high fees in the past few hours.

Here is an example.

It basically can be seen on the Show new replies to your posts.
This doesn't show the posts in which your post has been quoted. It displays the threads in which there are unread replies made after your post.

The forum has its own way of informing you that you have been quoted or new topics or replies has been made since you visited a thread, which is in the email you used for creating you forum account.
Wrong. The forum has no tool that notify you about your post being quoted.

Just need clarity, can big players like Foundry USA actually alter transactions on the blockchain? Is this really possible?
Foundry USA or any other mining pool can try to remove a block from the blockchain and they will be able to do so, if they are lucky enough.
Take note that even if they manage to remove a block, that doesn't mean they can steal the fund you sent to someone. Your transaction will be included in another block.

Is there any chance any of mining pools try to do so?
That's very unlikely. They won't do something that can damage their reputation. Also, it's very expensive to perform such an attack and it's more profitable to be a honest miner.
164  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [Quiz] Answer the Bitcoin question and earn merits! #4 on: June 07, 2024, 10:23:39 AM
= 42 ÷ 3.125
Why did you divide the difficulty by the block reward?
The difficulty adjustment has nothing to do with the block reward. The difficulty is adjusted to maintain the average block time of 10 minutes.

my final answer came up as = 13.44 which is some how close to your final answer of 13.125.
Just a coincidence.
165  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [Quiz] Answer the Bitcoin question and earn merits! #4 on: June 06, 2024, 11:46:17 PM
The answer is 13.125 trillion.

We have three difficulty adjustments.
As mentioned in the question, the difficulty remains the same after the first adjustment. So it would still be 42 trillion.
The difficulty after the second adjustment would be 42*10/8 = 52.5 trillion.
The difficulty after the third adjustment would be 52.5/4= 13.125 trillion. That's because the difficulty can't be decreased by more than 75%.

Second question, is a transaction with 1 confirmation reversible? What are the chances of 1 confirmation Bitcoin reversible?
The more confirmations a transaction receives, the less probablity it has to be removed from the blockchain.

At the time I am writing this post, Foundry USA is the biggest mining pool with 26% of the total hash power. Assume that Foundry USA turn evil and decide to remove a transaction from the blockchain.

If the transaction has only 1 confirmation, there would be a probability of 54% that Foundry USA manage to remove the transaction from the blockchain. The probablity would be 34%, if the transaction has 2 confirmations and 22%, if it has 3 confirmations.
If the transaction receives 6 confirmations, the probablity would be 6%.
167  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Wallet loading failed. on: June 05, 2024, 11:45:37 PM
You are running a pruned node and you don't have the entire blockchain in your hard disk. A pruned node keeps the latest blocks and remove the old blocks as time goes on.
If you want to import the other wallet in bitcoin core, the only solution is to redownload the blockchain.
168  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Adding a seed phrase to your wallet on Electrum? on: June 05, 2024, 11:07:24 PM
and only import the public key to an online device with Electrum.
Electrum (and all other wallets I know) doesn't allow you to import a public key.
If you want to have a watch-only wallet in electrum, you need to import your address(es) or your master public key.
169  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Adding a seed phrase to your wallet on Electrum? on: June 05, 2024, 10:25:30 PM
With a single bitcoin seed phrase you can even have addresses of different formats just by creating new wallets and specifying the derivation path you wish to have it.
A seed phrase can generate different types of addresses only if it's BIP39.
You can't generate different types of addresses from your seed phrase, if it has been generated by electrum. The script is encoded in electrum seed phrase.
170  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Adding a seed phrase to your wallet on Electrum? on: June 05, 2024, 08:03:09 PM
And you can completely trust the entropy of electrum seeds or BiP39 cause it's not practically possible for anyone to brute force in million years.
If your seed phrase has been generated by electrum, you can be sure that it provides enough entropy, but if your seed phrase is BIP39, it depends on what software you used for generating your entropy. For example, if you generate your BIP39 seed phrase using a close-source wallet, there is no way to know how it has been generated.
171  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Adding a seed phrase to your wallet on Electrum? on: June 05, 2024, 07:46:50 PM
But i can't see the option to add a seed phrase to my private key.?
What do you mean by adding a seed phrase to your private key? Do you mean deriving the seed phrase from your private key? If so, that's not possible.

We generate a seed phrase and then we use that to genrate our private keys.

Op every Bitcoin address has it's own special seed phrase.
This is not true.
Each bitcoin address can be generated by a very big number of different seed phrases.

I keep trying to reset my password, but I don't get any emails or promos at all. Still having trouble resetting your password?
There were some issues with authorization emails, but I received the email for resetting password yesterday and I could do that successfully.
I also enabled 2FA and changed my withdrawal address and received the emails for them too.

Edit:
I just tried to reset my password again and I received the authorization email in a few seconds.
Did you check the spam folder?
173  Economy / Reputation / Re: To freebitco.in and their representative, TheQuin on: June 03, 2024, 03:15:40 PM
Seeing that little by little the problem is being solved, the only thing I find missing to change my feedback, if things continue to improve, is an official statement from TheQuin or wetsuit explaining what has happened and what they plan to do to prevent it from happening again. I don't know if those of you who have supported the flag and those of you who have left negative feedback agree with me.
I think the issues have been solved. The website is working well now. Authorization emails are sent without any delay and withdrawals are processed.

I agree with you on the point that they should make an official announcement regarding what happened. I think freebitco.in PR's post wasn't enough and more explanation is required. Freebitco.in has been around for more than 10 years, it has been a popular service and they should have a better communication with their users. Their twitter account is also active and they can post a tweet about the recent issues there.

TheQuin was very active before and was always responsive. He became much less active after October, 2023 and has been offline since May 23.
Maybe, TheQuin stopped working with freebitco.in and all the issues arose after that. This is just a guess and whatever happened, users need an explanation.

I am not sure whether I should remove the negative feedback and I also want to know others opinions.
Maybe, we can consider changing the feedback type to neutral for now? or remove it? I am not sure.

2024-06-02 why was there no daily jackpot winner?
I am not sure, but I think that the date in the first row of the table should be 2024-06-02 and that's wrongly displayed.
We are still on June 3 and the winner of the daily jackpot for this day is yet to be determined.
175  Economy / Reputation / Re: To freebitco.in and their representative, TheQuin on: June 03, 2024, 10:33:15 AM
As I said in my previous post, I was able to withdraw my fund yesterday.

Today, I reset my password, enabled 2FA and also changed my withdrawal address in my profile. I received the authorization emails and could do all of them successfully.
It seems that the service is working well now.
