1021  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Minning on: June 27, 2023, 08:18:08 AM
Mining without any hardware? That's not possible at all.

Take note that anyone claiming that you can mine bitcoin without any need to hardware and just with going to a website, running an application, etc. is a scammer.
There are also services called cloud mining that claim that they sell you mining power. They are scam too.

Safepal is a custodial wallet? I did not check my desk yet but as far as I know I have one safepal hardware wallet. A hardware wallet is none custodial, same as Ledger, Trazor.
They have a software wallet too and that's probably what Agbe was talking about. Of course, he/she is wrong about safepal being a custodial wallet. Even their software wallet is non-custodial and gives users full control over they fund.

If it has coin control, then I think their manual will have some type of instructions. Those bloggers and crypto writers who review wallet they will have some kind of tutorial tll.
As far as I know, there is no coin control on Safepal software wallet.
1023  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ FIFA U-17 World Cup Discussion Thread ⚽ on: June 26, 2023, 09:43:07 PM
And still have 4 seats from Asia which is still being contested: Iran vs Yemen, Thailand vs South Korea, Japan vs Australia, and Saudi Arabia vs Uzbekistan,
Iran, South Korea, Japan and Uzbekistan advanced to semi-final of AFC U-17 asian cup and qualified for the final tournament of FIFA U-17 world cup.

BTW, It's quite a surprise to see the U-17 world cup taking place in Indonesia after the U-21 world cup was canceled in this country.
There is no FIFA U-21 world cup. We have U-17 and U-20 world cups.

I was thinking that Electrum is capable of storing any amount of Bitcoins but this one you are recommending another wallets is giving me more confusion. Please explain more on this topic.
Both bluewallet and electrum are good. mk4 suggesting bluewallet doesn't mean you can't use electrum.
You can use electrum or bluewallet for any amount of bitcoin, but note that any online device is always prone to hacking.
If you have a significant amount of bitcoin and you want your fund to be completely secure, you should create your wallet offline on an airgapped device or go for a good hardware wallet.
1025  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can you only have a receiving address pay send bitcoin? on: June 26, 2023, 03:12:46 PM
What wallet software you are using at?
OP already said that he/she is using Safepal.

From the look of things, Safepal is a close source wallet although they didn't state it in the site but from the articles I read and my own understanding, it is a custodian wallet.
You are right that Safepal is close-source, but it's not a custodial wallet. Safepal is non-custodial and gives users access to their private keys.

As Nwada001 said, if it is an Electrum Wallet, Op just need to clink on the particular transaction and copy the send address and resend back the money to the sender.
OP is asking how to spend a particular UTXO and it's required to use coin control for that.
1026  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can you only have a receiving address pay send bitcoin? on: June 26, 2023, 11:50:03 AM
If you are using non custodial wallets, they will have Coin Control feature which allows you to choose Inputs for your transactions.
Not all non-custodial wallets support coin control.
Safepal (which is being used by OP) is a non-custodial wallet, but it doesn't allow you to choose which UTXOs you want to use for your transaction.

To OP:
I recommend you to avoid safepal. In addition to not supporting coin control, it's close source and we don't know how secure it is.
1027  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are the Predictions of Bitcoin Halving accurate? on: June 26, 2023, 11:14:15 AM
ok thanks for correcting yourself
You misunderstood that post.
I said binance academy has predicted the halving to be 293 days later while they say the average block time is 9.89 minutes. I even shared the link.
In the next part of my post, I said that with considering the average block time of 9.89 minutes, the halving should be 303 days later.

293 days was what displayed on binance academy and 303 days was what calculated by me.

I don't know how exactly they calculate the halving date. With the average block time of 9.89 minutes, the halving should be 303 days later.
1028  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The Importance of Identifying Different Type of Bitcoin Address on: June 25, 2023, 09:32:59 PM
Taproot (bc1p)
bc1pnagsxxoetrnl6zi70zks6mghgh5fw9d1utd17d this address format is known as a taproot address and has more privacy than any other type of Bitcoin address but is slightly more expensive than the segwit address in terms of transaction fee.
This is not always true.
For example, when it comes to a transaction including multiple inputs and single output, you can decrease the fee with using taproot addresses. Taproot can also make multi-signature transactions cheaper.

1029  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: "How best do I secure my investment on bitcoin as a newbie" on: June 25, 2023, 02:39:58 PM
We must use Non custodial wallets like Electrum, Trust Wallet, Exodus etc and also choose open source wallets like Electrum.
As you said, we should use open-source wallets.
Electrum is surely a good option, but both trustwallet and Exodus should be avoided. Trustwallet and Exodus are non-custodial and give you access to your private keys, but they are close-source and there is no guarantee that your keys have been generated in a secure way and you are the only one who has access to them.
1030  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: "How best do I secure my investment on bitcoin as a newbie" on: June 25, 2023, 09:03:06 AM
You shouldn't keep your bitcoin on custodial services like centralized exchanges. If you keep your bitcoin on a custodial wallet, you give full control over your coins to a a third party. It's possible that they are hacked or they steal your fund. So, you should use a non-custodial wallet.

You should use a trustworthy open-source non-custodial wallet. In this way, you can be sure that there is nothing hidden from the users. If you use a close source wallet, you don't know how your keys have been generated and whether developers have access to your keys or not.

With using a trust worthy non-custodial wallet, you can be sure that no one has access to your keys, but there's still the chance that your wallet is compromised and hackers steal your fund. So, if you want to be completely secure, you should use a good non-custodial wallet on an air-gapped device.

If you can't have an airgapped device, you can go for a hardware wallet.
1031  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are the Predictions of Bitcoin Halving accurate? on: June 24, 2023, 10:35:41 PM
and as someone else said average this session is 9.89 meaning under 293 days.. a fortnight less
That's wrong.
There are 44229 blocks until the next halving and assuming that the next blocks will be mined with the average time of 9.89 minutes, the halving should be 437425 minutes or 303 days later. That's only 4 days less than the time predicted with considering average block time of 10 minutes.
1032  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are the Predictions of Bitcoin Halving accurate? on: June 24, 2023, 09:55:42 PM
Thanks for the correction, although i didn’t even bother to calculate it out my self but actually took the time up from the general data here which shows an approximate 10.19 minutes
I just checked that and it's currently displaying the approximate block time of 9.89 minutes.
Also, they are now predicting that the halving will be 293 days later. It was 295 days later a few minutes ago.

I don't know how exactly they calculate the halving date. With the average block time of 9.89 minutes, the halving should be 303 days later.
1033  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are the Predictions of Bitcoin Halving accurate? on: June 24, 2023, 09:33:16 PM
The binance academy approximately uses 10.19minutes
Wrong.
Binance Academy predicts the halving to be 295 days and 4 hours (which equals to 425040 minutes) later .
As there are 44230 blocks until the next halving, they have used the average block time of around 9.6 minutes (around 9 minutes and 36 seconds) in their calculations.

425040 / 44230 = 9.6
1034  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are the Predictions of Bitcoin Halving accurate? on: June 24, 2023, 08:55:59 PM
That's just an estimation.
Till now, 795767 blocks have been mined. This means that there are 44233 blocks until the next halving. Assuming these blocks will be mined at the rate of 1 per 10 minutes on average, the halving will be 442330 minutes or 307 days later.
This is exactly the time displayed on blockchair.com. Other websites may use different methods for predicting the halving date and that's why you may see different dats. For example, buybitcoinworldwide predicts halving to be 296 days later.
1035  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Problem with transaction display. on: June 22, 2023, 12:52:36 PM
But just in case it persist beyond 24hrs you can ask the sender to resend the transaction again but this time with a more considerable high fee cause atimes these delay could be due to the transaction fee amount.
Where did you get the 24 hours from? Why not 12 hours or 48 hours?
The transaction has been already confirmed and it doesn't matter how much fee has been paid for that.

You can go through this thread below for more help.
achow101's guide can't help OP. As already mentioned by OmegaStarScream, the tranaction in question is not a bitcoin transaction.
1036  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Generating offline seed Electrum on: June 22, 2023, 08:51:25 AM
How can I do ? Is is the same if I turn off wifi on a more recent PC ?
If you want to have a cold storage, you should run electrum on an airgapped device. This means that you should use a device which has been always offline and will be never online.
With turning off Wi-Fi and disconnecting your computer from internet when generating a wallet, you don't make your wallet a cold wallet.
1037  Other / Meta / Re: My password was changed on this forum on: June 21, 2023, 08:01:27 PM
So Bpip could not possibly cover up all the logs, or it has a limit to how long it saves security logs for each profile.
BPIP started to scrape security log on March 16, 2018 and that's why the password change that was done by OP in February 2018 is not displayed on BPIP.

See the post made by ibminer on BPIP's thread.

Seclog on BPIP goes back to March 16th, 2018.
1038  Other / Meta / Re: Easiest way I can remove Wasabi recommendations from all of my past posts? on: June 21, 2023, 02:12:14 PM
You can use any of the tools suggested above. ninjastic.space which was suggested by PX-Z and the forum search engine which was suggested by tranthidung.

Just pay attention to two things.
1. ninjastic.space searches for unedited version of your posts. So, if you have edited a post and added the word "Wasabi" after the edit, ninjastic.space won't find that post.
2. If you have made multiple posts containing the word "wasabi" in a single thread, the forum search tool will display only one of them.
1039  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Generating Seed words on: June 20, 2023, 06:55:59 PM
You can make use of iancoleman offline, on the airgapped device: https://github.com/iancoleman/bip39/releases/latest/
It's not a good idea to use iancoleman to generate a seed phrase even if it used completely offline on an airgapped device.
Read gmaxwell's explanation on why you shouldn't use a tool that generates keys through javascript.

One way to generate a BIP39 seed phrase (if you don't want to use any other wallet or tool) is to generate a seed phrase in electrum and change the last word until it passes BIP39 checksum.

Another question : are hardware wallets like bitbox or Trezor considered as air-gapped ?
Not all hardware wallets are airgapped. Both bitbox and Trezor are non-airgapped.
You can visit the topic created by dkbit98 to know some airgapped hardware wallets.
