1601  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [NEWS] Butterfly Labs - Shut Down by US Government on: September 23, 2014, 07:27:21 PM

"VP Product Development" sounds like a bit more than "just an employee".  In fact, isn't a severe failure of Product Development precisely the reason the company is now in this mess?

Still just an employee. As much as I'd like for Josh to put on his big boy orange jumpsuit, he appears to have no ownership in the company and thus his liability is minimal. Fancy title means little. He had no authority to do anything.

Sounds like BA/Minersource, right?
1603  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 2TH/s, Batch 1 on Sale this week, shipping before Sept. Ends on: September 22, 2014, 04:39:51 AM
Friedcat just thru a wrench in the works.. Selling 1.4TH/s rigs for less than 1BTC/TH or 1.064 shipped outside China. That will put a roof on the S4 price, I say 2BTC shipped.

S4 should ship a good deal sooner, and have lower power costs. So I'd guess about 2.5 BTC would be fair.
1604  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Black Arrow 28nm 100Ghash Bitcoin ASIC from $0.49/GH/s on: September 22, 2014, 04:18:36 AM
I have filed a complaint against MS with the FTC and the Attorney General of Colorado. It's a bunch of bullshit that we get no response out of them. My next avenue is going to see what is involved in taking them to small claims. I have tons of air miles/ hotel points/ and free car rental days so it won't cost much of anything to take a trip to Colorado. I'm pretty fed up with this situation. In 3 months it will be a year that I've paid for this elusive product and to keep being told "it will be shipped next week!".

You don't even need to visit to file a suit, you can file it online. You will of course have to visit when the court date arrives.

Return Our Money!

Do you really think spamming big red fonts will get you your money back???
1606  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: September 21, 2014, 09:51:11 PM
Ever since my SP30 GB a lot of people complained about pre-orders, yet SP-Tech seems to do just fine with them. Why can't you accept that? Besides inefficient AM Tubes is there anything else shipping from stock right now?

The only manufacturer worth considering is Bitmain, and they're in between batches. It shouldn't be more than a few days before the next batch is open.
1607  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Second Rise of FGPAs? on: September 21, 2014, 02:25:22 AM
We as the Zeta Mining team will actually prove that FGPA based mining hardwares may be capable of competing with the latest ASIC miners. Follow us!

Doubt it Smiley

A generous way of saying it. Let me say it a little more forcefully. There is no way an FPGA will compete with ASICs. FPGAs waste a lot of silicon on programability.
1608  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: bitcoins are flooding the market --> btc is less than $400 on: September 21, 2014, 02:23:08 AM
Seriously, who buys bitcoin so they can order a tablet from NewEgg when it's so much easier just to use a credit card?! And with CC purchases you have buyer's protection. I've loved being able to make big purchases online with my mined BTC. But I'll never buy BTC to spend BTC. It makes no frickin' sense to me.

I get 1% rewards on my credit card, but I get 3% discount or more when I use bitcoins. I chose bitcoins a lot.
1609  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: BFL gets raided and the Hashrate drops! Connection? on: September 21, 2014, 02:19:44 AM
Lol, I can't believe so many people are falling for this "BFL raided" bullshit. I've not seen one real news article reporting this. The only "proof" is coming from untrusted posters in this forum and others.

Now one actual BFL employee will refute the rumor. What does that tell you?
1610  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: September 20, 2014, 07:38:24 PM
Cointerra's product is nothing but vaporware. No one needs to concern themselves with it.
1611  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Manufacturer Trustworthiness Guide [12th Sept] on: September 19, 2014, 10:50:43 PM
Good job dogie sending Inaba into a hissy fit. +1 to your trust rating!
1612  Economy / Speculation / Re: Gold collapsing. Bitcoin UP. on: September 19, 2014, 05:08:53 PM
What's so special about 2016 blocks anyway, why was this number chosen by Satoshi?

Difficulty update roughly every 2 weeks:

14 days * 24 hours * 6 blocks/hour = 2016 blocks in 2 weeks.
1613  Economy / Speculation / Re: Gold collapsing. Bitcoin UP. on: September 19, 2014, 04:54:48 AM
All it takes is a Electromagnetic pulse and you'd find out why just one store of wealth is not happening.   Or a really bad solar flare, feasible events.
c'mon man, when's the last time that happened?  have you heard of backups?

Exactly. Bitcoin is highly redundant. The source code is duplicated all over the place. There are copies of the blockchain scattered throughout the world, on hard drives, on flash drives, on optical discs, etc.
1614  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Cointerra AIRE Miner 16nm PreOrder on: September 18, 2014, 09:49:57 PM
Their estimate on when it will ship is 3 months wide. In other words, they have no fucking clue when it'll ship, and no refunds or compensation if they don't meet that monster window. Anyone pre-ordering that is an idiot.
1615  Economy / Speculation / Re: Gold collapsing. Bitcoin UP. on: September 18, 2014, 06:22:55 PM
gold up, btc down 70% ytd and counting lol

btc will be a blip in history in 50 yrs, gold will be as good as gold 1000 yrs from now.

And that's where you're wrong. The world is going digital, something that never existed before. Gold can't compete in a digital world. Bitcoin can. Forget that and you'll pay the price.
1616  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Advice for new users regarding CLOUD MINING on: September 18, 2014, 01:20:48 AM
they could have it all pointed at one pool which gives them about 50% more than the online calculator.

Uh, no.
1617  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: September 18, 2014, 01:08:53 AM
Really you only need an EVGA 1300W PSU and they are around $180

And you need to add in the cost of shipping. The S3+ includes shipping. The SP20 doesn't.
1618  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: AMT fucks us over again on: September 16, 2014, 07:32:10 PM
Yeah, and this is why the Justice system in America blows.

Have you filed a lawsuit?
1619  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: September 16, 2014, 03:45:31 AM
Spondoolies SP20 vs Antminer S3... which has better power efficiency and which has the better price? Discuss!

It might be a fair comparison if the SP20 shipped immediately. But it doesn't. There's no comparison. SP20 is far less profitable.
1620  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: September 15, 2014, 11:00:02 PM
Yes, but that was a preorder ... you had to wait ... and Bitmain are changing their business model ... everything is evolving .. again.

Previous batches had some waits, but the latest batch 9 just opened up and ships in 3 days.
