Ecuador has 3,747 cases, 191 deaths, and 100 recoveries.
Queen Isabel II asks to keep calm and evokes WWII spirit of resistance.
UK has 51,608 cases, 5,373 deaths and 135 recoveries.

1622  Other / Politics & Society / Re: I woke up to see a very disturbing twitter trend from the Asian country India. on: April 06, 2020, 12:44:57 AM
I woke up to see flooded images of a disturbing twitter trend in India send to me by my Indian friend’s, as they know I like politics a lot. The trend on Twitter was Muslim means a terrorist, basically they’re calling all Muslims a terrorist which is not good for a secular country like India. At this stage I would like to be open about my opinion on Muslims, and I don’t hate them just because few of them do misdeeds and I feel one should not be hated because of their caste. What do you’ll think of this will it cause problems for a country that’s already grappling with the issue of Coronavirus?. There’s also a incident which has led to this twitter trend leaving it for you’ll to judge, but as a civilised society we should not hate people based on their religion.

This is not a caste, it is a religion. Anyone can join it, you don't have to be part of a strata from society like a caste (which India traditionally had).

Unfortunately religion intolerance is nothing new. I think that is the very reason Pakistan exists, because its a segregation.

Some religious people are also intolerant, and commit atrocities (like people from any other groups or religion, for that matter). Humans are very quick to discriminate others for idiotic reasons, as if everyone came from the same mold. Some use race, others use country, and others religion, and even politics. This simple mindness of some is exasperating to say the least.

If a communist robs me, are all communists robbers? (well forcibly seizing the means of production is considered an act of theft so, maybe?) They will say the owners are the robbers by the unfair exploitation of the masses, yadda, yadda.
1623  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Known Pedophiles How to ruin their lives? Tips? on: April 06, 2020, 12:26:03 AM
None. Just my word against his since my friend is dead.

You can still file charges.  Other people may come forward as well.

I tried last year. Detectives said statue of limitations are up. Imagine that statue of limitations on Child sex crimes??? Boggles the mind.

You should seek a good lawyer and sue. It baffles me that you come to ask for something like this in a forum rather than seek legal advise from a professional.

Also refrain from saying such threatening like things, you may harm your own case. Justice is not done by your own hand.

1625  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Trump refuses to wear a mask, but is open to take medicine? on: April 05, 2020, 04:54:41 PM
It has been suggested for a very long time now that if you’re stepping outside your home you should wear a mask for your own safety, but Trump has decided that he’ll not wear a mask which is weird in my opinion as that’ll send a wrong message to his followers. Furthermore he surprised the world by admitting that he’ll take the anti malaria medicine if cleared by his doctors, and I now worry about his health as why would a healthy person require medicine unless he has some symptoms for which he needs those meds. Now I know I’m creating controversy but ask yourself if you’re healthy would you take meds, however if you see any symptoms of illness you take it as a precaution and that’s the case with Trump don’t you’ll agree?.

This is incorrect, and is the reason people don't get it.

It is not for your own safety, but for the safety of others, should you be carrying the virus without knowing. If you don't carry it, it won't hurt to wear a mask either, so that is why.

Masks are not blocking the virus from getting in, which is why you should stay away from other humans, or places where other humans have been as much as possible. Preferably, you should not leave your home period.

If you think you can just go out because you wear a mask, you don't get it and are becoming part of the problem, the reason why the virus doesn't end faster. Do not go out is the first and foremost thing everyone should do, being told or not by the inept authorities that most likely let the issue escalate beyond their control due to their lax attitude to the problem.

Once you go out, you are exposing yourself. Your hands should not touch your face ever, do not "fix your mask", you could be introducing the virus from your own fingers, even if you are wearing gloves. Once you return home, you should properly sterilize those gloves/mask and anything you might have brought from the outside. It would be ideal if your shoes never leaved the entrance, Asian home style. Because yes, you can carry the virus in your shoes too...

The medicines that exist, are to deal with the symptoms once they manifest. It is to keep the patient alive, to spare him/her from needing a ventilator which is a very scarce resource. My country is actually doing experimental treatments, double blind and possible secondary effect tests be damned (more or less actual word from the officials). Yes we are basically experimenting live with drugs from China and Cuba, so far so good it seems...

If Trump wants to become guinea pig, be my guest. But if he puts himself in the position of needing that treatment in the first place, he is doing things wrong. Everyone should isolate themselves and that is that. Since people need food and medicine to live, think of a mechanism that can keep those supplies moving, with as little and as sparse involvement of people as possible.

This is not a joke, it is not a vacation. Its not that "gosh, I'm bored indoors", but more like, there is an incurable disease out-there and if i go out, i will make more people die, regardless of it killing me or not.

To summarize, it is not for your own protection, but for the protection of OTHERS, that you wear that fabric mask. The truly safer masks are needed by health workers and medics, and they are disposable, they are better at blocking infection, but any slight mistake in protocol handling can have the worker/medic infected and become a patient. They are risking themselves for others, getting into this danger all the time.

1629  Other / Off-topic / Re: Electric Cars and The Future on: April 05, 2020, 03:16:55 AM
Electric cars save you a lot of money, but it is going to destroy some countries where only oil as their main source of income.

By 2035 35 to 40% of the total jobs of this world will be taken over by AI or robots, get prepared for it by yourself from today.
I don't think it can be that fast because electric cars require adequate manufacturing elements and infrastructure according to standards. Not all countries can adopt it. If it affects oil dependence, there will always be a gap for export expansion and its use in other fields in full policy. Electric cars will reduce CO2 and are very suitable for urban economies, especially industrial-based cities.
You are talking about current situation but I am talking about 2050 or later when we may not have any oil left for fuel consumption.

Electric cars are not super fast but Tesla made somewhere near to it and in the near future they can attain the speed as well but speed may not be a mandatory thing,we need to survive first.

Oil does not stop suddenly like that, production slows down and becomes more expensive, which may or may not make it profitable to dig out depending in market price. The more electric cars, the less demand so it makes sense many will simply leave the business, while others remain as oil still the source of many derivatives such as plastics and fertilizer. Its not just cars.

In fact it is a good thing cars stop needing oil to move themselves, because as production slows and price climbs, people won't be able to afford riding on them as much they do now. Perhaps they should take a look at Europe who pays twice as America does for car fuel.

Countries that depend on oil should have diversified by now. Yes some will be hurt badly since they did not (like mine), but the middle eastern rich Arab countries have already gone "beyond oil", and used it correctly to wedge their future.

It cannot be helped since dinosaur juice is not infinite, and basing your economy solely on it is begging for disaster (of course in my country, its the ever corrupt political caste).
1630  Other / Off-topic / Re: Italy data: COVID-19 no more virulent than the flu on: April 05, 2020, 03:04:24 AM
seems to me that corona has more risks

Then why aren't the hospitals locked down & staff quarantined onsite?

Answer: It isn't a big enough deal to disturb or inconvenience the doctors. This isn't rocket appliances.

It's the end of cold/flu season naturally like every other year before this one.  The Government will claim a victory against this invisible monster soon, and there is no way to prove that Governments hurt the people rather than helping.

Life goes on and Bitcoin will probably skyrocket.

I wonder what country you live on, its probably one of the countries with tens of thousands of deaths...

The obvious reason the hospitals are not quarantined, is because the health workers and medics are disciplined enough to follow bio hazard protocol, even so a few of them fall victim and become patients, they risk their lives everyday to treat people like you who spread this nonsense.

The point of the isolation is to slowdown the infection rate so the health system can cope with the grave cases, which in various countries has gotten out of hand and many people die literally on the streets or at home untreated.

To slow the infection rate you have to keep humans apart from each other, humans who are not used to keep 6 feet distance, or wear mask and gloves and wash their hands properly.

1634  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Braiins OS: open-source mining firmware [S9, T1]. New release includes AsicBoost on: April 04, 2020, 05:19:59 PM
With default values, bOS+ aims to overclock the unit, within those two limits: 1200w, and 89°. Under excellent air flow conditions, it could take it to 17TH, but its common to see 15TH.

You can see people in this very thread people complaining about the previous warning temp value at 95° being "too low", these are now 100° for "Hot", and 110° for "dangerous" (power off). You can always change those values to whatever you like.

Also you can switch to the community edition and do the tuning yourself, i have explained this process on this thread before, you can manually adjust the voltage and speed per hashboard yourself, but be sure to measure your watt usage when overclocking to avoid damage to your PSU.

Did some test, great software.
I burned 2 hashboards when running autotune @1599watts when the standard power supply, so watch out and test.

Well the default power limit is 1200w, which is roughly 20% and is the safe margin for a typical 1600w psu. If you rise this level like that, you will be stressing your PSU. There are of course the thermal limits, but they need the sensors to be properly working (which may not).

Did you also change the temperature limits? The new default is "aim for 89°C", it was aim for 75°C before, so beware of that.

And if you use bOS+ for the autotuning, this can take anywhere from 2 to 6 hours, and the miner will restart many times; it will keep trying higher settings according to your limits (which is why you shouldn't mindlessly increase either power or temperature limits). You could wait for the next release until things get ironed out, or stick to the community version and use sane settings.

Did any airline lose their slots in American airports during the 9-11 no flight period?

This should be no different. It is incredibly stupid to keep running empty or nearly empty planes in fear of losing their slots.

That's literally what this is and they said this is what they're doing. The guy literally just got charged with distributing drugs throughout the US, pretty much running a cartel, and so on and so forth. For the US this is the best time for them to leverage their military, and their money, to be able to get someone to flip and to join team US.

They've just gotta pray that the sanctions have been working, and that they've forced Maduro to have to skimp out on paying certain members of his military. Which may sway them towards taking the big money bags from the US. It'd be stupid if Maduro does this, but greed and intelligence don't go hand in hand.

Doubt much will come out of this now though, Trump wants to ride off the approval bounce that comes with being the president during some sort of disaster (in this case, corona pandemic) not being a wartime president when people hate boots on the ground, and really any war.

No the sanctions are doing nothing of the sort. If anything, only the masses suffer. In any case this could also explain why Maduro created a mining company for the military, so he could keep them happy from the spoils underground (gold and diamonds, they said).

Maduro allows the military to conduct bribes usually (but not always) at the border, this is a decades old institution that only strengthened even more under his regime. The military knows that this "operation" could be endangered if another (not accomplice) government comes.

You see, the foot guard at the border will accept the bribe to let you pass, say, food or medicine (because you are supposed to have a permit, yadda, yadda). Part of the bribe goes to his superior, and part of that goes to his superior's superior, all the way to the top. This is kinda like an MLM with the (compulsory) bribes being the main fuel.

Of course traditionally most of the money came from smuggling out (not in) gasoline, because of the absolutely ridiculous subsidy its nearly free, so what takes you 100 USD to fill a cistern tank truck, in Colombia easily becomes 40 thousand or more USD. That's enough money for everyone, including the smugglers and all the irregular groups operating on both sides of the border. Note that while Colombia has traditionally been a "drug" cartel, Venezuela instead has been a gasoline traffic cartel (sure they could have probably also expanded into drugs, or that's what the DEA says anyway).

This has been going at least since the 90ies, which is when they got the fear of adjusting gasoline prices following Caracazo, sowing this much worse future (this is what happens when you deny the market and attempt to peg the price of things).

Yes what I'm saying is that this corrupt military caste was produced by decades of absurd gasoline subsidy, and from those habits came the rest. Incidentally while they can bully and extort civilians or even rival irregular groups, for actual military operations they suck. Of course Venezuela has not faced a REAL military confrontation in centuries.
