1643  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What exactly happens when all the 21 million Bitcoins have been miined? on: October 10, 2012, 03:59:41 PM
I wonder why only 21 million. There are over 6 billion people in the world. How can we encourage everyone to use something they can't possibly ever have 1 of? Sure, there's enough for everyone to have pieces of 1, but by this rationale, BTC is EXTREMELY undervalued right now. They should be worth $100's in USD. This is a good thing for miners, but not so good for the casual BTC user with ,0004 BTC in their wallet who can't use it, LOL.

Do you have 1 troy ounce of Gold ingot?

According to this 50 million troy ounces of Gold are mined every year, so there should be plenty for every human being already.

1645  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [idea] Hosting service on: October 10, 2012, 03:26:20 PM
I see a lot of bitcoin web hosters, but none of them are setup as a quick solution sometimes I just want to upload a website (via git) and have it appear without setting up a VPS or another domain on apache, and so I can delete it as quickly. I would pay a couple coins for a service like this.

Yes, I know I would pay for that. Do you have any plans to launch such a service?

Can I have this one? http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0087MXS7A/bmsmag-20

They don't ship to Spain, and you have to request more than 10 if you buy from China. I pay extra for the trouble of getting it shipped to EU

1654  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The future of Bitcoin is illegal on: October 07, 2012, 01:20:29 PM
What is illegal? As people start distrusting govt-backed "money" they will figure out that govt-backed "laws" are no different. They are just arbitrary abstractions imposed on them against their will. Or do you suggest that governments these days have highest approval ratings in history? No, they don't.

The future of Bitcoin is that govt in its current form will be dimmed illegal!
You're dealing with Super Nova explosion here in slow-mo, there is nothing you can do about it other than observe its magnificence, and don't get too close or you'll get burned.

1656  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [BOUNTY] 185+ BTC - Open Transactions Client (for Grandmas) on: October 06, 2012, 03:16:25 PM
I'm not even going to pretend to understand all the features & possibilities that Open Transactions offers.

I read a bit about it and felt like I should take the short bus from now on. Baskets here, nyms there, Chaumian something or other... it frankly left my head swimming and I put it on my list of things to look into when I had more free time (and possibly a brain upgrade) to try and wrap my head around it.

But that doesn't stop me from realizing that OT is very powerful and can become extremely useful in the future.

So to claim this bounty we need you to provide an easy to use, open source, cross-platform client. Something my grandma (who thinks firefox is "the google", and "internets" her emails to me) would be able to use.

FellowTraveler has stated that the API is high-level & easy to use, so anyone making a client really only needs to worry about the display layer. He recommends using C++ or Java since those are the best tested.

I simply haven't dug into OT enough to adequately make such judgements, so I will defer to FellowTraveler in this regard. If he says you have created such a client I will make good on my portion of the bounty.

Devs and testers are available in #opentransactions on FreeNode

You can read more about OT here: https://github.com/FellowTraveler/Open-Transactions/wiki

1657  Other / Meta / Re: 'Good post' - feature on: October 05, 2012, 03:10:06 PM
That'd be OK, though it's not a high priority.

One of the optional features in the specification for new forum software is a "thanks" button which could be used like that.

sure. thanks. Smiley

That seems to be a good idea and the mod is already out there.

1660  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How do I get BTC into a Canadian bank account, or Paypal? Have 31.57 BTC on: October 03, 2012, 07:20:24 AM

I have 31.57 BTC in a wallet with Mt Gox, and their exchange rate values this sum at $402.7 USD. I'm wishing to either get this in a Canadian bank account, or into a Paypal account, from which I can then move it to my bank account. I don't understand Mt Gox' process for retrieving my money, and I'm not sure where else I can exchange and withdraw my funds from. Also, I can't ask this question in the Trading forum because it won't let me post or reply there, despite meeting the requirements for some reason.

Never used it but https://www.cavirtex.com sounds like a good choice for Canadian bank accounts.
