1661  Economy / Securities / Re: Motion Raised! Starting a new FPGA mining farm/contract! Cognitive on [GLBSE] on: July 06, 2012, 03:27:12 AM
A motion to upgrade to ASICs has been raised and is as follows:

Code:
Issue 1322 shares at 0.63 for a total of 833BTC to purchase ASIC upgrades for our seven BFL Singles. This will increase our total hashrate to 287600mh/s, assuming 40000mh/s from each unit.
This is a necessary move to remain a profitable Bitcoin mining company.

Voting will end at 0000 GLBSE Time July 11, 2012.

1666  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: ASIC on: July 03, 2012, 06:16:10 PM
and the whole community will switch to that within a week?!
Um, no. Simple changes to the protocol take months. Difficult, compatibility-breaking, unjustified changes would take years. So would getting the entire economy to move to an alt coin.

ASIC equipment available to the public is good for Bitcoin.

Only if it is truly available to the public, or if whoever receives it first chooses to use it for the good of Bitcoin.
1667  Economy / Lending / Re: Have coins to lend! Available balance: 50btc on: July 03, 2012, 06:10:27 PM
22BTC paid back. Can you confirm it.

Cheers

Received in full, thanks.

Just a poll...
The interest rates are going to decrease substantially on August 1st.

Hopefully this will give pirate a better idea of what will happen.

Please share your reasoning for the choice you are making as well.

Today we had a few hours of downtime. I had my brother go up and cut down an old satellite dish, and he cut the main internet cable too. So it took about an hour for me to realize we had no internet, then I went back on the roof and did some outdoor soldering. All is well and we are back up and hashing.

Well, My name is Garrett Ian MacDonald, I'm 16, and I live in Idaho, USA.

MAD props to you sir. I know this thread is way past this post (20 pages), but I recently invested in your "rig" and I was just reviewing the thread.

Good job on your age and knowledge/know-how.

Thanks.
1672  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Pirate Pass Through LTC on: July 02, 2012, 11:15:50 PM

That's just another passthrough, right? With the new rates, he will likely reduce his interest payments.

Of course he will. But the "system" I was referring to is his web site front end and his automatic payout and probably tracking system back end.
1673  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Pirate Pass Through LTC on: July 02, 2012, 10:44:24 PM
Interest rate will probably be 4.5% a week. The risk is if pirate defaults, you will lose your bitcoins. Of course there's also risk of me running away with your coins. But I hope people trust me enough not to do that.

Why wouldn't someone just invest in a PPT that pays >6.5%/week, then turn the BTC dividends into LTC?

What might be useful is if you accepted deposits in LTC.

Pirate is significantly reducing his rates. Coblee will be taking at 0.5% fee.
1674  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Pirate Pass Through LTC on: July 02, 2012, 10:41:51 PM
I like the idea, just a little out of my reach. Too bad GLBSE can't be used for things like this.

Let's get Nefario to make a GLLSE!
1675  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Pirate Pass Through LTC on: July 02, 2012, 10:40:36 PM
Coblee are you paying 4.5% in litecoins?

Yes.

And coblee, this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=83904.0;topicseen

Maybe you can bribe payb.tc for use of his system.
1677  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Pirate Pass Through LTC on: July 02, 2012, 10:25:28 PM
Is a minimum deposit of 100btc reasonable? Cause I would rather not deal with many small accounts.

I think 50btc would allow a substantially higher number of people to participate.

Either way, I'm in.
1678  Economy / Goods / [WTS] Blackberry Playbook - MINT! on: July 02, 2012, 08:21:10 PM
This is a 16gb Playbook in excellent condition. It comes with everything it came with from the store, and the Blackberry made flip case.

This is a solid media tablet, and I even prefer it over the iPad. It has a better resolution display than the 1st and 2nd gen Pads. I'm selling this to raise a bit more money for a car Smiley

I'm looking for $177 shipped to the US. I will accept cash (Dwolla, check, cash in mail) or BTC. I will ship internationally, but you have to pay for it.
