1761  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-05-14] First Bitcoin Smart Contracts Sidechain Now Secured By 1 in 10 Min on: May 15, 2018, 01:18:43 AM
I wonder with developments such as lightning network and eventually also smart contracts, what purpose is there left for other altcoins? Technically it's possible to add any feature altcoins are rocking right now.

I am strongly of believe that when lightning network becomes fully deployed and easy to use at client level, it will cause a major shift from capital that will be flowing from altcoins back into Bitcoin.

With all that in mind I wouldn't feel comfortable hodling any altcoin for the long term. People keep saying that Bitcoin is slow and lacking features, but time will show them what Bitcoin is really capable of. Wink

I do not think so. I hope that in the future the right to choose still exists. RSK looks like an incredible opportunity, but it's still an enterprise company offering smart contracts for a small fee on its closed network. Using Bitcoin's public ledger to record.

And Ethereum will have plasma

1764  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: PAYING .002 Eth to 1st 100 for feedback or suggestions on new Social Network on: May 13, 2018, 10:45:30 PM
https://bitcoinonline.io/vit05?idFriend=36

There are some errors in the Portuguese translation.
In the ranking of coins, I could not put in order by marketcap. I found this order by volume very strange, I did not quite understand.
It is not very clear where I can discuss a subject if I need to create a group. If I can post stuff in my feed. I think it would be interesting to have a button to create a post and then decide where I'd like to post it.

1765  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How Bitcoin is doing? on: May 13, 2018, 10:18:04 PM
I think we'll find the 7k again. And worse, the alts will melt so that Bitcoin can again take 45% of the market. Let's see how the Asian market wakes up, but with the news about the problems of some exchanges, I do not believe they will throw the price up.

But I believe that soon the western market will demonstrate strength and pull the bullish movement with great volume and betting stronger on the BTC.
1766  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: The 1st Technological Foundation for Latin America on: May 13, 2018, 10:07:23 PM
What is the name of your foundation? And you're sure it's the first and only one? I know of several people in Latin America who are very involved with cryptocurrencies. I will try to remember some from my head:
PhD Mario Larangeira who works with Cardano.
Everton Fraga who is one of the leading developers Ethereum.
Sergey Ivancheglo, IOTA developer who is a professor at a Brazilian university.
Wences Casares from Xapo
Diego Gutierrez and Sergio Lerner from RSK
Sebastian Serrano from ripio
1767  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: [open] 0.002 BTC paying mini twitter bounty - Newbie friendly on: May 13, 2018, 04:59:45 AM
You should put it in the title and right at the beginning, this is a contest, not a service where everyone will receive by participating.
The first sentence is
Quote
Task
Pretty simple one time task to earn 0.002BTC or more

The second sentence is:
Quote
Earn extra
Additional 0.001BTC for bitcoinTalk users

Only there at the end is that only the winner will receive any fund.

1769  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Sell The News on: May 12, 2018, 05:16:48 AM
This is only useful for weak projects that use news for Pump and Dump. Some examples of these projects are Tron, Verge, Nano, and IOTA.

They announce partnerships regularly, where no one has a clue if there is any value in these partnerships. With this, people buy from excitement but sell by trying to understand the real gain.

So when you start hearing a rumor, buy it. And you must sell exactly at the time the ad starts to be released.

Now, in more robust projects, good news means buying more, never selling. Imagine if tomorrow China will announce that Bitcoin will be accepted. That would mean you should sell your organs to buy as much Bitcoin as you could and later you would get so rich that you could buy new organs without any difficulty.
1770  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [REP] Augur up by 30%... What's driving this? on: May 12, 2018, 05:08:55 AM
I was thinking of buying an Augur but I still do not know exactly if the token would be useful or if it's just a great idea. Many projects that are wonderful ideas are only driven by speculation since the token can easily be replaced by more robust and more liquid currencies like BTC.

Moreover Theymos doesn't have Guts to answer here. He loves Hiding.

But he has answer. And he has said he loves all the cute forum users, like you, like me. =). I think he uses this account when he is traveling or on mobile, or maybe when he is drinking, I do not know. But you can see he has checked your topic and give you an answer.

I love all of my cute forum users. 💓
1772  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-05-10] BTC Wallet Electrum: ‘Bitcoin-stealing Malware’! on: May 11, 2018, 07:05:27 PM

Due to false accusations from electrum.org, they have ruined our reputation and brand of Electrum Pro. They managed to trick several news outlets to slander us. We decided to go our seperate ways to work on different projects. Our domain ELECTRUM.COM is for sale now with a price of 25BTC, non-negotiable. Contact lucaslofgren@mail.com if you are interested.

Wishing everyone the best,

Lucas Lofgren and the Electrum Pro Team

They gave up the scam attempt and placed the domain for sale asking 25BTC. Funny that I would imagine someone using such tactics would ask for payment in BCH.
1773  Economy / Speculation / Re: Mt. Gox cold wallet moves 8200 BTC. Might this be the cause of the latest crash? on: May 11, 2018, 05:07:03 AM
Is there any possibility that a group of people unrelated to the process files a petition in court asking them to prohibit such movements?

Or at least demonstrate a roadmap about what they want to do with the BTC? This is messing up the market and people. Imagine if instead of BTC they had the same market share of a country currency, or shares of a company, or government securities. They could break down and bring panic to various people, companies, and organizations.

The BTC market is not regulated for normal people. But this is a trust designated by justice, so it is expected that it will have full transparency with all.
1774  Other / Meta / Re: Share your thoughts : sMerit Review, Rank-Up Challenge, Signatureless Campaign on: May 11, 2018, 03:39:16 AM
  I think it would be great if this forum had a section for long reads. An area where we could put long thoughts and ideas that could allow more serious discussions to flourish. And in a section like this, topics that were meant to distribute sMerits would fit well. Since many of the topics of this type had a requirement that the post in question was long and of great quality.
1775  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Weak crypto-currencies. on: May 11, 2018, 12:38:27 AM
  • All currencies that use mainnet and platform of another project are weak.
  • Currency that does not have reliable wallet are also weak
  • Currencies that have little liquidity and few trading exchanges are also weak
  • Currency that reserved a large share for alleged developers are also weak
  • Currency that is centralized where it is difficult to suggest modifications and the project is kept secret, they are also weak
  • Currency that is not registered in a blockchain or some other similar mechanism, are also weak
  • Currency that does not bring anything innovative or differential in relation to Bitcoin are also weak
1776  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-05-07] Bill Gates Would Love To Short Bitcoin, so Why Doesn’t He? on: May 10, 2018, 06:30:54 PM
With the current mechanisms, bitmex etc, and knowing that Bill Gates probably has an infinite credit, how much could he profit by betting against Bitcoin and predicting a value below a thousand dollars?

Is it possible to calculate something like this?
1777  Economy / Speculation / Re: Not a good time to buy, according to this source on: May 10, 2018, 06:26:19 PM
We still need some good news so a fresh rise can be continuous. At the moment no one has any idea how much a BTC should be worth. They're all waiting.
Perhaps good news could be that a small, poor country decides to adopt the BTC as a currency to hold their reserves in an experiment. With something like this, the value would explode and if successful it would be unimaginable how much each BTC could be worth.
1778  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: help me please - Notification about receiving coins on: May 10, 2018, 05:48:22 AM
I use a Google Sheet for this.

Code:
function getBitcoinBalance(bitcoinAddress) {
  var response = UrlFetchApp.fetch('http://blockchain.info/address/' + bitcoinAddress + '?format=json');
  var json = response.getContentText();
  var data = JSON.parse(json);
  return data.final_balance * Math.pow(10,-8);
}

function getBitcoinCashBalance(bitcoinCashAddress) {
  var response = UrlFetchApp.fetch('https://blockdozer.com/insight-api/addr/' + bitcoinCashAddress + '/balance');
  var json = response.getContentText();
  var data = JSON.parse(json);
  return data * Math.pow(10,-8);
}

function getCoinfloorPrice(cur1, cur2) {
  var response = UrlFetchApp.fetch('https://webapi.coinfloor.co.uk:8090/bist/' + cur1 + '/' + cur2 + '/ticker/');
  var json = response.getContentText();
  var data = JSON.parse(json);
  return Number(data.last);
}

function getCryptowatchPrice(exchange, pair) {
  var response = UrlFetchApp.fetch('https://api.cryptowat.ch/markets/' + exchange + '/' + pair + '/price');
  var json = response.getContentText();
  var data = JSON.parse(json);
  return data.result.price;
}

Code:
=getBTCBalance($A$1,CONCATENATE("https://blockchain.info/q/addressbalance/",C7))/100000000

$A$1 = your address
1779  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Best cold storage option. on: May 10, 2018, 03:48:44 AM
You could Download Tails and use on a USB as cold storage.

You could Use WarpWallet:

Buy your retirement coins on Coinbase or the exchange of your choosing.
Visit WarpWallet and note the SHA-256 sum in the URL after the redirect. Save the HTML to a file.
Boot up your air-gapped machine (AGM), preferably from a Linux live disk. (See Bruce Schneier’s article for more information on maintainig an AGM.)
Copy the HTML to your AGM using a USB-stick.
Run sha256sum warp.html on the AGM to verify that the sum matches the sum you observed in step 2.
Open the HTML as a local file with Chrome or Firefox.
Test the configuration with a few temporary passphrases and small transfers (see below for more details).
Pick a good passphrase. For example: vicar formal lubbers errata. More on this later.
Run the configuration in “production”, with your real passphrase. Use your email address as your “salt”. You’ll get a public/private key pair out.
Use your phone to scan the public key, and transfer it to your networked machine (via email, for example). When scanning, be careful to resize your browser window so that only the public QR code is visible.
Turn off the air-gapped machine.
On your networked machine, transfer coin from Coinbase to the WarpWallet-generated address.
Leave little cryptic notes around your house and office to remind you of what your passphrase is in case you ever forget.

You could use bitaddress.org and make a paperwallet using this Kit

You could use Shamir's Secret Sharing Scheme
1780  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-05-10] New Movies Featuring Bitcoin Hitting Theaters Soon on: May 10, 2018, 01:43:42 AM
Here is the Trailer

Unfortunately they only mention digital coins. But paper money is still very much present. I still dream of watching a great movie that has a future where only Bitcoin is used. That there is no paper money or banks.
Where are executives from major studios to finance what would surely be a blockbuster?

Or even better, a Netflix series. The script does not have anything to do with it. Just replace the banks and paper money for a world where Bitcoin is a reality.
