861  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 0x is holding up in the crushing bear market compared to other tokens on: November 02, 2018, 07:30:10 PM
It is very interesting that it has managed to hold the value while other ERC20 tokens have plummeted in value. I bought the first time soon after the ICO and at the beginning I was worried because it had fallen a lot. But after that, it never dropped below 100 million in marketcap. In addition, good news always comes.

It's a risky project, though. It is difficult to understand the utility of the token, although the idea is very revolutionary.
862  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: BCH just too off like a rocket on: November 02, 2018, 07:24:27 PM
It was expected, many commented on this possibility whenever the value hits at 0.07BTC. There are many business interests that need to keep the price at least in this range. Mainly because of mining. BCH runs the risk of losing much value if mining is extremely expensive and the market price does not follow. Bitmain and all who believe in the project burn BTC just for those pumps.
863  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum 2.0 is coming soon on: November 02, 2018, 07:19:50 PM
I think the big question about Serenity is whether Ethereum can still be considered a decentralized cryptocurrencie at this stage. Other projects that use PoS only are still extremely centralized. Some with many powers for who owns enough coins. As is the case with EOS and NEO.

If they do, most of these other platforms will be irrelevant and will disappear. Either way we will have a bull run since many are trying to accumulate as much as they can while the price is so low.

866  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Investing $5000 on: November 01, 2018, 04:33:58 AM
Most people will try to suggest coins they already own or want to sell soon. They are not necessarily the safest projects or that have a potential for high profitability. The value you will invest does not matter that much. We are not in a traditional market. What you should say is what your long-term vision for cryptocurrencies is.

For example, do you believe it will be the best store of value and want to invest in a more volatile insurance project? So your choice is Bitcoin. And only him.

Do you believe in decentralized and programmable platforms? Do you think cryptocurrencies go beyond the store of value or the means of exchange?
Then you should opt for Cardano (ADA) and ETH.

Want to hide money in an unbreakable protocol that has the power to be valued? Your choice should be Monero.

From this, you can make more risky bets like ZIL, 0x, Stellar, OMG. That will probably given you 100x or 0 in short term

coingecko

coinapi seems to me to be the best and most practical if you are willing to pay for it. Many sites that show rankings just buy data from them and change the layout.
868  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Message from Bruno, OYSTER dev, explaining why he hacked the protocol. on: November 01, 2018, 03:51:57 AM

https://medium.com/oysterprotocol/oyster-update-10-31-c384696495d6

All this dialogue seems to be something fabricated. A play to try and lessen the responsibility of those who have a real profile and can not easily disappear. I only knew about this protocol thanks to Reddit shill accounts. I do not doubt being just a marketing team and nothing more.

870  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: OYSTER PEARL (PRL) smart contract BREACHED - markets paused on: October 31, 2018, 03:57:05 AM
This is even worse than the other scams. Bitconeect for example, was a scam you could foresee for economic and marketing reasons. But this project you would only have to know about this backdoor if you were a programmer and had read all the source code. This demonstrates how difficult it is to analyze a project even with open source.

We are very dependent on the curiosity of other people. I have never read a source code from start to finish and would have difficulty understanding something like what was done with Oyster.

Perhaps it would be very interesting to have a group of hackers whose sole purpose was to exploit flaws in those projects. Could even have a bounty paid in BTC. Certainly, those who believe exclusively in the BTC could finance something like that just for fun.
871  Other / Meta / Re: Is there a thread here on the ten year anniversary of the white paper? on: October 31, 2018, 01:49:52 AM
I was looking for one too. But I reread the first message he sent to the cypherpunk mailing list and there it is that it was on 31 October that he sent the message. So there are two celebrations. One when he published and the other when the world could read about.

872  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 31, 2018, 01:02:49 AM

On October 19th I noticed a potential issue with mixin/decoy selection on XMR transactions. I sent the following email to Riccardo Spagni with a CC to luigi1111 on October 20th:

"Hi folks. I've noticed that my Monero GUI on Windows has only been selecting mixin decoys from October 17th and older revealing the real input as the most recent one after October 17th. Reviewing a block explorer shows the same issues on many randomly selected transactions:

Please investigate or ask for more details if needed."

After some back and forth the bug was confirmed and version 0.13.0.4 was released https://github.com/monero-project/monero/releases/tag/v0.13.0.4

Normally your wallet will select at least several decoys from the last 24 hours to use as mixins however since the hard fork on October 17th it has not been doing that. It has been selecting mixins from the date you upgraded or downloaded the blockchain (possibly also restarted daemon) and older only. Therefore if your real input was created after the date you upgraded, the real input in your transaction is revealed because all of the mixins your wallet selects will be much older.

Suffice it to say not enough users have upgraded and as time goes on the issue gets worse. Reviewing the Monero blockchain it is clear that not enough people have upgraded which harms the privacy for us all. Here are a few transactions from the mempool:

https://xmrchain.net/tx/5d020f4034afd0398c6f70248f1da4d8a35a079f0b26c00fbd4f1cf6a73468af

This user upgraded their wallet on October 23rd, 2018 so the real input is the one on October 30th, 2018.

https://xmrchain.net/tx/17d94acf8a9b15854c7628e7387988ed979966152fc4a6501137c3eb454099fc

This user upgraded their wallet on October 18th, 2018. The real input for key image 2 (01) is older than or on October 18th therefore there's no way to know for sure, but the first image the real input is clearly the transaction from October 30th, 2018.

https://xmrchain.net/tx/cb79db0d298b5b1df8faf26869f38b59367822710e18843e191d70475fd41b18

This user upgraded their wallet on the 17th clearly. Spot the real input.

https://xmrchain.net/tx/5332aa082e4afeba50341bd8f533a1053876422f82e99861cb6f53d2ad829014

Also the 17th.

This user seemingly upgraded their wallet to 13.4, no ability to conclusively track https://xmrchain.net/tx/f92529c9d6993dfd4860cc13168d050042f98a9bca4d880b1a31f6917dd1b1f2

tl;dr: In many cases it's easy to determine the real input in a ring since the hard fork. UPGRADE YOUR WALLET BECAUSE YOUR'RE HARMING MY PRIVACY USING OLD CLIENTS.

Had this been posted yet? I found this error very strange. But it shows how a blockchain depends on both the miners and the users being always well informed.
873  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Vitalik Buterin: Yes, I'm an advisor of wetrust. on: October 31, 2018, 12:23:41 AM

This is very interesting. WeTrust lost a lot of market value when it came out of several exchanges because of the small trading volume. I thought the project would be set aside. fortunately, the developers continue working and offering several products and services that are very interesting and important for the crypto community. WeTrust Spring is a project that brings great benefits to society and can positively impact the entire market. I hope more people will use the project to donate to these institutions.

874  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Crypto Market Trading by Volumes on: October 31, 2018, 12:00:37 AM
Could you put a source from where you got those numbers? Was it just a sum of the numbers that are placed on the exchange rankings sites like coinmarketcap?

I think these numbers are very manipulated and not at all reliable. I would prefer to see the fiat deposit numbers. Or maybe from people records in the exchanges. If I'm not mistaken Binance is almost reaching 10 million users.
875  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: For those not aware of Syscoin on: October 30, 2018, 11:46:44 PM
SYScoin is really a very interesting project. It has a utility, unlike the others that are just speculations. Already used for trade in the store, allows masternodes. Unfortunately with those problems at Binance lost valuable value. On the other hand is a great opportunity to accumulate to have a masternode.
876  Other / Meta / Re: how to unsubscribe from bitcointalk on: October 30, 2018, 06:07:57 PM
The only way to nuke an account is with a forum admin action. @theymos done it in the past. But it is very rare that he agrees to do it again. I believe that just for security reasons he could do something like that.

If there was a way to do this automatically, many profiles that are used to scam other people would. after a while, use this option to erase the trace left and do it again.
877  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Bittrex is going to launch Bittrex International for worldwide crypto traders on: October 30, 2018, 03:24:38 AM
I received an email from them and was in doubt about what it was about. I understand it is an opportunity to facilitate any legal and investment action for residents of other countries. In addition, if there is any problem in the US regarding exchanges, they would be able to continue operating without interruption.

The year 2018 was definitely a year for all companies related to cryptocurrencies to improve the ecosystem. Today we have a market capable of climbing to unimaginable levels.
878  Other / Politics & Society / Re: BRAZIL HAVE A NEW PRESIDENT: JAIR MESSIAS BOLSONARO on: October 30, 2018, 03:19:23 AM
To investment maybe bolsonaro is a good oportunity as Temer was (stock market had crazy winnings on Temer, oposed to many social declines). I believe Bolsonaro might be more of the same (in that point of view)

Brazil's big problem today is that it urgently needs federal reforms. We have a very bad welfare system that is leaving the country broken and without investment capacity.

Temer tried to carry out a reform of the pension system but failed. The expectation is that Bolsonaro can. Today, a considerable number of Brazilians retire at the age of 50. Another large part retires without having contributed anything. And most public servants receive high wages after retirement.

Another expected reform is in the tax system. Brazilian taxes are very difficult to understand and expensive. It pays several types of contribution and everything goes to the federal government. The expectation is that he will carry out a reform by simplifying this system.

The Workers Party has made few reforms. None that has caused great financial impact. They tried to avoid to the maximum reforms that could bring rejection. With this, the country was economically locked, and today it is in serious crisis. Astronomical number of unemployed that exceeds 15 million. Low population saving index and high crime rate.
879  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-10-29] Bitcoin Exchange Bitstamp Confirms Sale to Gaming Group NXC on: October 30, 2018, 01:43:25 AM
Bitstamp always seemed to me a solid exchange and with great organization. Their site is one of the best and most fluid. I hope they continue to operate independently. I also hope that this purchase has not occurred due to cash flow problems since it is a giant in the market and many use the price of it as a reference.

Curious about the possible value of 100 million speculated. It is spoken in dollars, but I imagined that such an operation would be negotiated in Bitcoins.

Dear Bitstamp customers,

Today I am pleased to announce that Bitstamp has been acquired by NXMH, a Belgium-based investment company.

Bitstamp has been regularly approached by suitors for quite some time. The reason why we finally decided to sell the company is a combination of the quality of the buyer, the quality of the offer and the fact that the industry is at a point where consolidation makes sense. A major factor in agreeing to the sale is that the mission, leadership and vision of the company remains the same.

I want to assure you that Bitstamp remains Bitstamp. We will continue to innovate with the goal of giving our customers the absolute best trading experience. It is business as usual here. We do anticipate that this acquisition will strengthen Bitstamp’s positioning for growth, which will provide opportunities to better serve our customers. Customers should not have any concerns about their accounts or changes to the way we operate.

Bitstamp has come a long way since we started in a garage with two laptops and EUR 1000 seven years ago. We believe this acquisition is the logical next step in Bitstamp’s growth as a company and I look forward to the future with this team.

Best,
Nejc Kodrič
CEO, Bitstamp
880  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: telegram trading bots on: October 30, 2018, 01:32:52 AM
There is no such thing as a Telegram Bot for tokens. They are all scams. Do not believe any. There are several bots for some platforms that work very well. But in general, they are risky if you do not know very well what you are doing. They access your account and do operations that can result in a great loss and even leave you with nothing.
