921  Other / Meta / Re: Bias on giving merit, forum negativity and positivity to the newbies. on: October 23, 2018, 03:09:45 PM
I won't say bias. Just that people are a bit lazy. No one wants to dig around to find quality newbie posters. Whereas, hero/legendary members with a ton of green trust, shine among commoners. Also, many newbies post in altcoin/bounty/non-crypto sections where the chances of getting merits are even lower. I don't wanna say it, but a newbie has more chances of getting merits in meta section vs. other sections. Plus merit donors expect exceptionally high quality posts from newbies as they don't want to help rank up spammers or sometimes clever copy-paste posters. I personally prefer to give merits to lower ranked quality posters.

I wouldn't say that Meta is a good place for a newbie to get merits, particularly now that the pity wave of merits after the 1 merit requirement introduction has subsided. Check out DdmrDdmr's thread on where users tend to get their first merits.

The best place for a newbie to be noticed is where they can genuinely contribute. A real newbie (not someone's alt) is unlikely to bring up anything useful in Meta.

Exactly. There is a confusion about this. Many newbies who receive merits in Meta write in a way that makes it clear they already know the forum. These people can not be considered newbies.

If you are a newbie looking for merits, do not waste time on the Meta section.

If you are really a newbie, it will be difficult to receive merits. That's why you need only 1. It would even be interesting to have a statistic about this. But I imagine that a bounty hunter who knows little about Bitcoin and only wants to participate in airdrops or send messages as a spamer, will need about 30 messages of reasonable quality to receive 1 merits.

The interesting fact is that to write these 30 messages you will need to study, read and search. So the next step that will be the required amount of merits to become a Member will work in a more fluid and natural way.

And if you are a newbie trying hard to start a thread for merits then you will end up getting a lot of negative reply.

Now, the OP's initial question is correct. There is a bias. If the newbie or low ranking is struggling to earn a merit just to participate in more bounties, people will avoid sending that merit. And most of the examples of newbies receiving tons of merits in this topic demonstrate this. They are people who post on technical subjects. Texts of great quality, relevance and that are useful to all. They are not in search of merits. They are searching for great debates about a subject that they love which is cryptocurrencies.

I have two questions:
1. Will the price of a copper membership change if the price of a BTC rises sharply?
Probably. I can't find back the link, but theymos said similar to that.

Here.
People now - "No way I'm paying $65,000 for a Donator membership!"

People in 10 years - "No way I'm paying $65,000 for a Copper membership!"

Unlike the Donator/VIP memberships, I do plan on reducing the cost of copper membership if the price rises a lot, so that shouldn't happen. (Though the membership price doesn't float automatically.)

My name is green in the spreadsheet but it is not in the sheet of week 2 and I have not received the payment so far. Will I continue to participate in the campaign?

Thank you.

925  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Blockchain Could Break Big Tech’s Hold on A.I. (NY TImes) on: October 22, 2018, 03:55:06 AM
nytimes.com

Pairing artificial intelligence and the blockchain might be what you would expect from a scammer looking to make a quick buck in 2018.

The two concepts, after all, are two of the most buzzed about and least understood ideas in the tech universe.

And the blockchain, the database design introduced by Bitcoin, has lately been the most popular route for anyone looking to raise money for an idea that sounds too good to be true.

Despite how easy the combination is to mock, the idea of applying the blockchain to artificial intelligence is attracting a growing roster of serious entrepreneurs and venture capitalists, many of them with impressive academic credentials.

Dawn Song, a computer science professor at the University of California, and Ben Goertzel, the chief scientist at Hanson Robotics, have been among the big names arguing that the blockchain could be a crucial way to push back against some of the most worrying trends facing the field of artificial intelligence.

Many A.I. experts are concerned that Facebook, Google and a few other big companies are hoarding talent in the field. The internet giants also control the massive troves of online data that are necessary to train and refine the best machine learning programs.

Professor Song, Mr. Goertzel and other entrepreneurs say they believe the blockchain could encourage a broader distribution of the data and algorithms that will determine the future development of artificial intelligence.

“It’s important to have machine learning capabilities that are more under the user’s control, rather than relying on these big companies to get access to these capabilities,” Professor Song said in an interview.

The article talks especially about  Ocean Protocol, Oasis, Enigma, and SingularityNET and how they use blockchain for AI research hoping to curb the dominance of big tech in the field.

i have seen many new users getting merited, i don't think thats a real problem.
i believe when you post on regular base in a few threads, and people appriciate what you have to say or some of the humor or whatever you bring to the thread/forum, then  you will be noticed.
i think my account and many in the wall observer are not so old but getting merited by many HERO-LEGENDARY "OG's"  Grin .

This only happens when the topic in question is WO. But I do not think that because you have received so many merits there, any other user would also receive.

No real explanation for this dump. I’m not really bothered any way, HODLING for at least another 3-4 years any way. Plus I got pretty wrecked last night on wine & other substances, feeling pretty numb to anything tbh.

Can’t wait to get home & smoke a couple of joints before going to sleep.

Mmm the wine/drink/ getting rekt moments ...... the moment When we have ATH Will be one of the most EPIC ones i can imagine myself
Eeeeeuhm maybe not This saturday Will be a rekt one as well  Grin
Only have to go to a NOCOINER wedding  Cry  Undecided

Mmm how to take maximum advantage of This fools selling dip

You received 80 Merits for these 3 posts. That's an outlier. It is not something so common. Irfan_pak10 wants to be a Merit source to help another type of user who does not participate in WO and does not have the ability to make such funny posts, but can contribute to the forum in other ways.

Anyway, I think it's unlikely that he will be chosen. Most of the merits he distributed were to people who posted in the ANN from his portal.

927  Local / Português (Portuguese) / Re: Como vocês acompanham seus portifolios? on: October 21, 2018, 06:12:07 PM
Planilha no google docs.

Code:
function ccprice(name, currency)
{
var url = "https://api.coinmarketcap.com/v1/ticker/" + name + "?convert=" + currency
var response = UrlFetchApp.fetch(url);
var json = response.getContentText();
var data = JSON.parse(json);

//had to add [0] to data because w/o it price was an array with one element in it
//instead of the element itself

var priceval = {  "EUR" : data[0].price_eur, "USD" : data[0].price_usd, "BTC" : data[0].price_btc,
                  "AUD" : data[0].price_aud, "BRL" : data[0].price_brl, "CAD" : data[0].price_cad,
                  "CHF" : data[0].price_chf, "CNY" : data[0].price_cny, "RUB" : data[0].price_rub,
                  "GBP" : data[0].price_gbp, "HKD" : data[0].price_hkd, "IDR" : data[0].price_idr,
                  "INR" : data[0].price_inr, "JPY" : data[0].price_jpy, "KRW" : data[0].price_krw,
                  "MXN" : data[0].price_mxn, "eur" : data[0].price_eur, "usd" : data[0].price_usd,
                  "btc" : data[0].price_btc, "aud" : data[0].price_aud, "brl" : data[0].price_brl,
                  "chf" : data[0].price_chf, "cny" : data[0].price_cny, "rub" : data[0].price_rub,
                  "gbp" : data[0].price_gbp, "hkd" : data[0].price_hkd, "idr" : data[0].price_idr,
                  "inr" : data[0].price_inr, "jpy" : data[0].price_jpy, "krw" : data[0].price_krw,
                  "mxn" : data[0].price_mxn, "cad" : data[0].price_cad, "24h_volume_usd" : data[0]["24h_volume_usd"],
                  "market_cap_usd" : data[0].market_cap_usd, "available_supply" : data[0].available_supply,
                  "total_supply" : data[0].total_supply, "percent_change_1h" : data[0].percent_change_1h,
                  "percent_change_24h" : data[0].percent_change_24h, "percent_change_7d" : data[0].percent_change_7d,
                  "last_updated" : data[0].last_updated }

var price = parseFloat(priceval[currency])

return price
}

Depois só salvar e na planilha colocar
=ccprice("bitcoin", "USD")

I really don't understand what you want to explained exactly. Most likely you are suggesting implement blog like blogger.com. I don't think it's good idea. Your threads are almost like blog. Everyone able to discuss, this forum is belongs to cryptocurrency and free for discuss. Creating extra blog isn't going to reduce spam. No one will go there for discussion because of signature campaign.

Whatever you suggest to prevent spam, don't forget about signature campaign. This is the main reason of spam and it will never ends.

He is talking about something like this:
SMFBlog plugin
Vanilla blog plugins
vbulletin.org journal

These examples are not so great. But if it was something well done, simple and minimalist. It could be quite interesting. Github has an interesting blog system that seems to be easy to integrate.
I think a live chat or IRC integration would be interesting as well.

931  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: Brazil Presidential Candidate Jair Bolsonaro Is Stabbed on: October 20, 2018, 10:07:32 PM
Unfortunately the popular Jair Bolsonaro may not be fit enough to stand in the next elections. Do you think he should be allowed to use a proxy until he is fit enough to become active again. Without this option, the failed assassin will have achieved a victory.

He is alright now. He still needs to have another surgery and still needs medical care, but he already walks, talks, participates in interviews. In the first round, he received more than 49 million votes. 46.03% of the total valid votes. He'll probably be the next president. He is not yet leaving home regularly, but the reason is far greater for fear and insecurity than for medical reasons.

His last TV interview :

Some curiosities about the Brazilian elections. The party he was competing for was tiny. And after these elections became the second largest of the chamber of deputies. The federal and state deputies who received the most votes belonged to his party. Most of the candidates for governor positions competing in the second round declare support or repudiation of the opponent. There are few candidates who repudiate it and are still running for the elections.[1]

Brasilian deputies chambers.

The country was clearly divided. The richest regions of the country voted in weight at Jair Bolsonaro. The poorest voted for Haddad. In the more urban and cosmopolitan cities, he has gained a great advantage.

The first act of Haddad, his opponent, was to go and visit former President Lula. That is imprisoned accused of corruption. Soon after this visit, which was much criticized, they changed the campaign strategy. Reduced the use of red color and increased the use of colors that represent the Brazilian flag. They reduced the use of Lula's name and the use of his image in TV campaigns.[2]

Brasilian election first round

Even so, the victory of Jair Bolsonaro seems the most likely scenario.

In this last week, the big debate is about using fake news. A large Brazilian newspaper accused his campaign of paying large sums for mass mailing using What's app.

It is important to highlight that practically 100% of the Brazilian population uses what's app. It is the most used means of communication for everything including receiving information about the electoral dispute.

But the newspaper was not able to present strong evidence. And it seems that it was only people who support Bolsonaro doing everything to contribute to his campaign. Brazilian electoral legislation is very restricted regarding the use of money in campaigns. But it is quite probable that this is not considered an electoral crime.[3]

What is rather curious, is that even with the massive popular support, he was one of the least spent money in the campaign. His expense did not reach 1/6 of his main opponent's spending.[4]

Even being a right-wing candidate, he was the one with the most frugal campaign. In Brazil a politician cannot pay for a TV commercial. Time is divided by justice according to the number of deputies that each party elected in the last election.

While he had only 8 seconds a day, his opponent had 3 minutes a day. Today, in the second round, time is the same for both. There was a survey yesterday whose results demonstrate how the vote of each layer of society is.

How people intend to vote: [5]

Mens vote

Womans

Uneducated

People that have studied in university

Poor

Rich

932  Local / Português (Portuguese) / Re: Quanto você ganha com faucet? on: October 20, 2018, 07:38:45 PM

Quote
As doações devem poder mantê-lo preenchido.

933  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How do i know Which Coin Suddenly Pump? on: October 20, 2018, 06:59:35 PM
I prefer to look at bitscreener You could use their options to refine better. One thing you should always do is take out the coins with low volume and that are only traded on exchanges that you do not know about.

But if you only predict which coin will pump, this is way harder. You should see the next events that will occur, you should check their communities and you should follow the development. 0x have pump because it was listed on coinbase. Some people think the next one will be BAT, XML or ADA. So one of them will probably jump in the following weeks.

Monero have pump because they have archived Bulletproofs'

The only thing you should not do is join pump and dump schemes on telegram groups. You will loose a lot of money.

This johank guy will beat the gmaxwell as well if he continue posting in future Smiley

The average is skewed heavily by 50 merits from theymos for this post: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4980960.0

This might be not sustainable.
Fair enough, but theymos has also received 5 Txn. of 50 merits, 1 Txn. of 45 merits, 1 Txn. of 42 merits and 2 Txn. of 40 merits. That means total of 417 merits in just 9 transactions.

So if we removed those 417 from 1266, his average of Merit/New post would also reduced from 3.3760 to 2.2640 Wink

It would be interesting to see a ranking of users who received no more than 2 merits from other users and no more than 10 merits for a given post. That is, users who are constantly receiving merits for common posts. Which are neither extraordinary nor outlier, but still produce content interesting enough to receive some merits.

I will suggest that before any move you should read two books. These books are not just about techniques, they talk mainly about the psychology in decision making. It is very important that you have an idea of why you should decide on something.

Trade Management

The Zurich Axioms:

After reading, you should make your account on an exchange. They need to have those basic trade instruments, which are:

  • Have a graph of the negotiations
  • Have a volume chart
  • Have a large volume of negotiations
  • Allow Stop loss
  • Allow Leverage

It is necessary that you sign up even if you think you do not know knthing. Because the best way to learn, it is when you lose money. Cryptocurrencies allow you to start with very small amounts like 10 dollars. So it is easy them investing in stock markets.

Inside the platform, you will already be able to familiarize yourself with several options, tools, and needs. And that will force you to study. I believe that just by subscribing to Bitmex referral link or Binance you can already operate and read the information they provide. Bitmex has a lot of articles and material to study.

Then you can start reading about charts. A summary of some is in this post: Trading Cheat Sheet Collection

The Bitmex link has my referral. You will receive 10% discount when using a referral link. If you do not want to use one, just go to www.bitmex.com
