881  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What is margin trading? on: October 30, 2018, 01:28:00 AM
Margin Trade is a tool that allows you to earn money regardless of the market movement. So it is possible to make money with a Bear Market using short positions.

In a simple way, you borrow an amount of assets from the market that is superior to what you have on your account. And invest according to the direction you believe the market will follow. At Bitmex you can have a margin of 100x. This means that the amount you will invest in a position, short or long, will be equivalent to a 100x the BTC that you have on the wallet.

So you could make a lot of money with a low investment. But it can also leave you with nothing if you bet wrong.

I like this bot called BitBotBackToTheFuture. It is new but reasonably simple to use.  He only has ANN in Portuguese at the moment and is still in testing. I've been testing him and I'm enjoying it.

883  Economy / Speculation / Re: guess the price before 12december BAKKT ([btc]GAME[btc]) on: October 28, 2018, 12:52:08 AM
$22700

Everyone is crazy, not quite understanding how the price can skyrocket so much, in such a short time. But this is how it works, when demand increases the price goes to the moon.
884  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcoin Hero has been Reactivated - Sebdude420=Hacked on: October 27, 2018, 09:19:50 PM
The recovery process takes time. This delay has nothing to do with you or what has happened in the past. It is slow because it is difficult.

The recovery rules are well explained and you did not follow any of them which makes the process even more time-consuming. But you are tending to turn it into a war. You will not gain anything from it. You will not gain anything exposing who has nothing to do with the administration of the forum. And making enemies makes everything harder.

Send the most amount of information to prove that you are the owner of the account and wait. As you had a store in the past with facebook page physical address and a phone number, I imagine your account will be recovered. But it will take more than a few days. Maybe weeks or months.
885  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Managing Your Altcoin Assets on: October 27, 2018, 08:50:14 PM
Most will actually turn into shit or it will be a scam. That's why we keep so many. Every 20 that do not result in anything, one reaches 1000x higher values in a few days. And that's where you should sell. An exorbitant profit with a single project pays for all the prejudice of others.
886  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Ether Prices Hit the new Low of 2018 and continue to Fall. Time to buy? on: October 27, 2018, 08:39:06 PM
In my own opinion,Ethereum has still a lot of room to fall even lower. There's a lot of FUD being spread about what Vitalik has said about ETH and what he has not.At this moment ETH went already under 200$ and there's no valid reason why it won't go even lower. Not to mention that everyone is now talking about limited scalibility of ETH as it's using POW,limited adoption of dapps.... I think that as long as these problems aren't solved we won't see a serious bounce back.
Me,personally I'm done with ETH until further developpement is done.

Ethereum leadership squabbles are just one reason for the downfall. I even one news article that Vitalik and one of his co-founder Lubin doesn't share the same sentiments. And then the scalability issues re-ignites again followed by the threat of EOS on the other hand. So can also look at what others prominent ETH holders are doing, most of those ICO's are dumping their Ethereum. The same group that put Ethereum on top of the food chain is also the biggest reason why the price keeps on a downward spin right now. I'm done with Ethereum this year, I'll just follow where the money is right now - Bitcoin market.

Ethereum needs to be able to prove that it is capable of being the first really decentralized PoS platform. EOS is centralized and controlled by few people. This is the real dispute.

Ethereum still uses PoW and depends a lot on Vitalik and what he says. If they can have a decentralized and scalable PoS system, they will have a great future. And they will face major competitors as Cardano.
887  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Question about p&d on: October 27, 2018, 08:21:55 PM
I've seen this kind of message before. The first comment is someone innocent, with doubts if it really works. Soon thereafter another user appears with a link, speaking that he used the group and got good profits. The reality is that 100% of the free pump and dump groups are scams. There are several articles on this. All very well founded.
888  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading platforms are growing but what about investors ? on: October 27, 2018, 07:52:06 PM
Perhaps the number of investors is increasing gradually without we realizing it. Every month coinbase announces that thousands of new accounts have been created. The big question is that by the end of 2017 a lot of manipulation has taken place due to several factors. Many linked to precarious infrastructure.

In that year of 2018 the scenario is already another. And that amount of exchange is that proof. It ceased to be an exclusive product of a nerd niche. All major financial portals talk about Bitcoin. They talk about their price. They follow the products around.

Today we have an ecosystem almost matured and ready to enter the next phase which is where normal people will gradually change their traditional investments into cryptocurrencies.

890  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coinbase opens a department in NY on: October 27, 2018, 05:13:22 PM
Most of the people would be excited by such a news but I'm not. I'm actually against everything that Coinbase does, they might be facilitating access to crypto and trading but from the way I see it, it seems like they are turning into a bank and that's something that shouldn't be found in the bitcoin scene.

Even if they start to offer a variety of services that only banks offer today, we would still have a choice with Bitcoin not to use them. It has several services that many people will still look for and that it is impossible to be offered using only the pure version of Bitcoin and its blockchain.

I believe that coinbase and several companies that were born with Bitcoin will have the ability to erode the entire traditional banks system. But that will not mean ending financial services. means that they will change from what it is today.
891  Economy / Speculation / Re: How will the next big recession affect the BTC price? on: October 26, 2018, 11:16:07 PM
I believe the big question will be: How global Bitcoin is, in an eventual major crisis.

The crises are always originated in some local fact and spread to different markets. The reason is trust. The entire financial market is based on gentlemen's agreements with some legal security. In major crises, these securities are few. Since the current money is virtual and backed by securitization.

If Bitcoin is a global asset, used on a large scale both in the financial market and to buy local goods and services. With great volume negotiated. Easy access for ordinary people and for big investors. The crisis could be an opportunity and many could buy Bitcoin as a store of value.

In most countries, it is very difficult for an average person to buy an asset and keep it away from the banking system. With what asset could I do this? Maybe with the gold. But not every country has a retail market that can provide that. Many people buy jewelry, objects of art and real estate for this purpose. We are in a new generation that does not care so much about investing in real estate. We use less and less jewelry. The object of value that most people carry is a cell phone, which loses value in a year. And investing in art is still for very rich people.

So in countries with volatile economies, whose currency can be greatly devalued. If you have Bitcoin, this can mean that you could have the only thing that makes you stay with some valuable commodity worldwide. And that you can use during a crisis. We are seeing this in countries like Venezuela.

it is really annoying - somehow i cant make it work that the pictures show up directly - only the links.i guess i'm getting to old for this  Huh

Newbie cannot post images. Read more here. About the topic, I liked your initiative. It's always good to see people with the courage to demonstrate what they're doing. but it would be interesting if you could comment a little more on your decisions.

And mostly avoid putting that made such a decision, but forgot to post. The cool of topics like this is when it actually occurs in real time. It would be interesting to put links explaining more the instruments that you use. It would attract more people and help them understand better.

I'll quote some of your images so people could see on the topic.

Hi all,

You ranked up as you aren't a shitposting pajeet here only for bounties, you are yet more proof that the merit system works. Well done for achieving it bud, but as you say it didn't give you any excitement, that is a positive thing as you know you deserved it bud.

Merits introduced gamification to the use of the forum. Anyone who uses the forum weekly and has not reached the Legendary level will try on several occasions to receive merits for what he wrote or produced. It is a way of receiving a satisfaction for having done something good, something useful.

Unfortunately, merits are still very tied to issues related to utility. That is, those who produced something useful receive tons of merits. As one of the few useful things that have been constantly produced in the forum are statistics about merits, these topics are the ones that receive most. Those who produce something useful looking for and unmasking scams, plagiarists and double accounts are also very well rewarded with tons of merits.

This is useful for improving the quality of the discussions and improving the forum as a whole. So the merits system works if the intention is just to improve the forum.

But I hope that in a second moment the merit system will go ahead. And it becomes a mechanism to encourage deeper discussions about cryptocurrencies. For this, the main sections of the forum still need to be cleaned off the exaggerated amount of spam.

Congratulations to OP for ranking up. It really feels very good. And I'm sure, by the quality of your posts, that soon you will already be a Sr. Smiley
894  Economy / Trading Discussion / Ledger Will Let You Trade Crypto for Crypto on: October 26, 2018, 06:21:45 PM
One of the oldest software wallet providers in the cryptocurrency industry is launching its first hardware product.

Announced Thursday, Blockchain has partnered with hardware wallet maker Ledger and started taking orders for a new handheld device called Lockbox. The first batch of shipments will go out in November.

While there are a number of hardware wallets on the market, Lockbox stands out in two ways, according to Blockchain CEO and co-founder Peter Smith. First, in addition to storing funds offline like other devices, it will facilitate crypto-to-crypto trades through Swap, the company's native brokerage, which is launching next week.

The aim is to make trading easier with an all-in-one account, Smith told CoinDesk, explaining:

"For us, what's really important right now is to get the product to a point where you don't need other places to complete your user actions in crypto."

Further, unlike other hardware wallets, Lockbox is "endpoint-controlled," Smith said. In other words, while the wallet connects to the internet by plugging into a computer, a special key set inside the device will only allow it to connect with legitimate websites, deflecting phishing attempts by fake versions of external platforms like MyEtherWallet, for example.

Much like Blockchain's online platform, which garnered nearly 30 million accounts since its founding in 2011, the Lockbox will mainly support bitcoin, ethereum, and bitcoin cash. However, the team said they are willing to consider adding support for additional assets if there's proven user demand.

Smith added that although his company will be selective about which assets it supports on Lockbox, the Swap brokerage will allow the whole Blockchain platform to expand crypto offerings faster than ever before because it will not be solely reliant on external liquidity sources.

"We built a machine trading platform," he said. "It connects to different liquidity [sources] across the ecosystem, everything from different exchanges to market makers."

As a result, "I think we will be more aggressive on adding assets in the next six months," Smith said. "In the long run, I see our trading system being both a consumer and a provider to DEXs," or decentralized exchanges, where traders retain custody throughout the process.

More on coindesk

Gradually, the market is being fragmented with several options for trader cryptos. This is very good since each person will have the possibility to choose the platform that offers them more security and options. And competition is what drives markets to approach perfection.
895  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [KNC] Kyber NetWork Price Speculation on: October 26, 2018, 04:40:52 PM
The upbit effect, like it or not
https://www.coingecko.com/en/coins/kyber-network

Finally some reaction in prices. KNC was one of the most lost market value in recent months. The best projects that use ETH have suffered greatly in recent months. I believe that with unique project advancements, even with ETH stability at $ 200 they can go up quite a bit. 0x went up a lot, now KNC and probably the next project to have a high will be the OMG.
896  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: INSTANT EXCHANGES on: October 26, 2018, 02:35:24 PM
These exchanges have a dynamic FEE. The reason is that they set out to offer an instant service. That is, as soon as you send your resource, fiat or crypto, you will receive fastest the crypto you want.

In the other exchanges your resource, fiat or crypto, has already been sent to the platform. And you only trade when it is there. So they need to charge according to the cost of the service you are sending. Credit card, for example, is always very expensive. And the rates vary depending on the company of your card.

In addition, they do not have a Book. This means that there may be a difference between supply and demand at that time.

These exchanges are only useful in emergency situations where you have no other option. But I do not recommend using them.
897  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Investigation: 12 of 22 Sites agreed to publish paid content without disclaimer on: October 26, 2018, 02:12:45 PM
I am not sure that it will be actual in the future because 'disclemers' must be to avoide unpleasant situations and its consiquences because they will be negative only.

There are several countries where it is mandatory to make clear when it is a paid content. On Instagram there is even a very clear disclaimer when some company is paying for that person to post on that service or product.

In cryptos it is more absurd that these sites that put themselves as journalistic sites do not make it clear that they are divulging a paid content.

899  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 26, 2018, 05:32:48 AM
For all currencies that support it, batch transactions are proving to be the most efficient way to lower transaction costs. It lowers the costs for the exchanges and as a consequence leads to lower fees for all and a much greater liquidity.

I would not have imagined that moving Monero would cost so little in the short term.
900  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Investigation: 12 of 22 Sites agreed to publish paid content without disclaimer on: October 26, 2018, 05:15:54 AM
Investigation: 12 of 22 contacted crypto news sites agreed, upon request, to publish paid content without marking it as sponsored; prices were $240 to $4,500  —

"What We Did
On the assumption that most outlets would not openly admit that they took bribes for coverage if asked directly by a journalist, it seemed reasonable to set up an undercover investigation on the topic.

The level of deception used was minimal: we created a fake email account, and claimed to be representing a PR company. There was no fake website or domain associated; it was simply a Gmail address with a profile picture found by image searching “Russian actor.” (I’m sorry to whoever he really is, but for our purposes this is Nikolay Kostarev, a Moscow-based PR agent.)

Google profile for Nikolay Kostarev

Next we compiled a list of blockchain media sites. This was by no means exhaustive, but to have a sense of the scale of the problem, we needed numbers. All in all, we reached out to 28 sites, and received a yes/no reply from 22 by the time of publication, with two inconclusive.

There were two main steps to the outreach process: first, using the ‘Contact’ or ‘Advertise’ links listed on the site, we sent an email to request price information:

Hello,

I am representing a blockchain PR company from  Moscow, Russia,
and would like information on the rate for advertising on [WEBSITE].

Many thanks in advance,
Nikolay K.
In response, we usually received a price list, or in some cases, a brochure of media rates. Usually this included information on buying banner ads, press release publication, or partnerships to create sponsored content.

If the outlet replied offering any of the above, we sent a further email with a proposal:

Hello [NAME],

Thank you for the reply and information.
Many of my ICO clients want coverage written about them.
But some would like it to not be marked "Sponsored".
Is this possible?

Regards,
-NK
Of course, the simple response to this should be “no.” Indeed, many outlets did respond to tell us that all paid advertising had to be clearly labelled, or to suggest that we opt for another form of sponsored post instead.

Sadly, those that took this route were in the minority."

This shows how risky it is to read news only in those sites that talk exclusively about Crypto. The traditional media still have a lot of importance and relevance. It has a slightly higher concept of ethics.

Most of these sites are desperate to get any money with information. And they accept to publish almost anything to deceive the traders. Be careful when reading the news. Try to always look for more information on other websites. Always consider whether that matter was invented or manipulated.
